Background

Pan is the granddaughter of Earth's hero, Son Goku and the world champion, Mr. Satan. Her heritage is primarily Earthling, being the offspring of the Saiyan-Earthling hybrid Son Gohan and the Earthling Videl, thus making her a quarter-Saiyan. She's been stated to have inherited Gohan's great potential.

Battle of Gods Before her birth, Pan contributed to her grandfather Goku's transformation into a Super Saiyan God. While still in Videl's womb, her latent energy was used as part of the ritual requiring the power of five righteous Saiyans, enabling Goku to attain the form necessary to face Beerus, the God of Destruction. Resurrection F Pan is born in May of Age 779, a few months after Goku's battle with Beerus. While Videl stays home to care for her, Gohan works as a science researcher, balancing his career with being a devoted father and husband. Mr. Satan, a doting grandfather, frequently spends time with Pan and hopes she will become his successor. Gohan also expresses a desire for Pan to pursue martial arts. One day, during a visit from Mr. Satan, Gohan returns home from a science conference and dons his Great Saiyaman persona to spar with Mr. Satan while holding Pan. This entertains Pan but draws Chi-Chi's scolding, as she wants Pan to grow up "lady-like." Later, Chi-Chi, Bulma, and Videl discuss Pan's upbringing, with Videl ultimately deciding that Pan should grow up on her own terms. She sees no issue with Pan becoming a martial artist, given her own experiences with Gohan. At another point, Piccolo babysits Pan while her parents are out shopping, amusing her with funny faces and games of peek-a-boo. When her parents return, Videl gently holds her. Pan is later comforted by Videl when she starts crying, unaware of Frieza’s destruction of Earth, which kills them both. However, Whis rewinds time with his Temporal Do-Over, allowing Goku to defeat Frieza and prevent the catastrophe. Afterward, Gohan reassures Pan and Videl of their safety, and Pan smiles at her father. She later attends a celebratory feast hosted by Bulma, surrounded by her family and friends. Universe 6 Saga Pan accompanies her mother, Videl, to the Nameless Planet for the Tournament of Destroyers. During the journey, she is seen in the arms of her grandfather, Mr. Satan. After traveling for two hours and forty-five minutes, they arrive at the planet. Throughout the tournament, Pan stays with her mother and watches the matches, including the opening fight between Goku and Botamo. When Vegeta begins violently pummeling Cabba, Videl quickly covers Pan's eyes to shield her from the scene. Copy-Vegeta Saga While Gohan and Videl are away on business, Piccolo babysits Pan at their house. After their house is destroyed, Goku, Chi-Chi, and Goten take over the task, though Piccolo remains with them. One evening, Pan sits on the rooftop with Goku and Piccolo, playfully raising her hands toward the stars. Goku, feeling unwell, apologizes to her, saying he would take her flying if he were in better condition. The next morning, Pan crawls out of the house and ends up in the hands of Pilaf, Shu, and Mai, who are outside plotting. Overhearing Goku and Gohan's phone conversation, they realize Pan is Gohan's daughter. Nervously trying to avoid detection, the trio flees in the Pilaf Machine, only to discover Mai had taken Pan with her. As Pilaf panics, Pan starts crying and soils her diaper, causing the machine to reek. Pilaf accidentally presses a button, destroying the Pilaf Machine. The trio soon realizes Pan has powered up, floating effortlessly in the sky and carrying them. Delighted by her newfound ability, Pan flies around joyfully, dropping Pilaf, Shu, and Mai in a random location before returning home. When Gohan and Videl return, Pan cheerfully greets them at the door. Goku, Goten, Chi-Chi, and Piccolo, who had been searching for Pan frantically, tell them she must have crawled into a closet or under the bed. Exhausted, they say nothing about her adventure. As Gohan holds Pan, she reaches out to Goku, calling him "Gramps." Gohan then shares his decision to turn down a job offer so he can stay home and care for Pan and Videl. Future Trunks Saga Gohan reunites with Future Trunks and takes him to meet his family. When Trunks meets Pan, she squirts milk from her baby bottle at his face, then does the same to Gohan and Mr. Satan before floating into the air. Gohan, in his Great Saiyaman persona, retrieves her. Later, when Mr. Satan asks Trunks to watch Pan while he helps Videl with her cooking, Pan playfully grabs him and kicks him in the stomach. When Gohan returns from his report, Pan and Trunks are seen pulling on Trunks's sword in a tug-of-war. Pan lets go when Gohan tells her to, then starts playing with sand while Gohan and Trunks converse. She is last seen as Trunks bids farewell to Gohan, Videl, Mr. Satan, and herself. Later, Pan is kidnapped by the Watagash-possessed Barry Kahn, who attempts to ruin Gohan and Videl's marriage. However, she is rescued by Gohan in his "Super Great Saiyaman" persona, who defeats both Watagash and Barry. Universe Survival Saga After the Tournament of Power, Pan is seen at the celebration of Team Universe 7's victory. She is flying around cheerfully and accidentally flies into Vegeta, giving him a bump on his forehead and comically grabbing his mouth. Goku laughs at this, prompting Vegeta to gesture toward him, signaling a sparring match. Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero Pan appears in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero as a major character. At just 3 and a half years old, she is already training under Piccolo and shows great potential. Before starting school, she heads to Piccolo's for a sparring session, where Piccolo notes that she has more promise than Gohan did at her age. However, she is still unable to grasp flight, though Piccolo assures her that it will come naturally in time. Pan quickly zooms off to school after their session. After school, Pan waits outside with her teacher for her pick-up. A strange man approaches, claiming that her mother sent him, but Pan quickly notices the lie and knocks him unconscious. Piccolo, disguised as a Red Ribbon soldier, approaches next, and despite his helmet covering his face, Pan immediately recognizes him. Piccolo explains that he wants her to pretend to be kidnapped to lure her father, Gohan, into action and rekindle his fighting instincts. Pan eagerly agrees. When Magenta's plans begin to fail due to Gohan and Piccolo's intervention, he rushes to release Cell Max, with Carmine assisting him. Pan takes out several soldiers, and when Carmine attempts to shoot her, she knocks him out as well. However, Cell Max is released and wreaks havoc. Pan learns to fly just in time to escape the chaos. After Gohan and Piccolo defeat Cell Max, Pan rushes to hug her father, proudly showing off her newly acquired flying skills. Peaceful World Saga Pan is depicted in Dragon Ball Z at the age of four. During her early years, she spent considerable time with her grandfather, Goku, engaging in frequent training. By the age of four, she was already capable of flying around the world and attempting to surpass her own travel times. Before the 28th World Martial Arts Tournament, Pan joined Goku on a trip to a fairground. Despite an incident where a rude stranger spilled her ice cream and flipped her off, Goku quickly resolved the situation by giving her another ice cream, preventing a tantrum. In the tournament itself, Pan showcased her training under Goku by effortlessly defeating Wild Tiger, a large and muscular competitor, with just two punches that sent him crashing into a wall. In the anime's closing scenes, Pan is shown sparring with Goten, and it appears she emerges victorious. Trunks raises her hand in celebration, though this seems to be an informal match, as suggested by the "Canceled" sign on the arena and the departing crowd.

Notable Techniques

• Flight: The ability to fly through the use of ki. Pan was able to fly as an infant without any formal training, but forgot how to consciously do at some point afterwards. At the end of the events of Super Hero, she relearned how to fly and can do so at will.

• Ki Blast: The most basic form of energy wave.

• Kamehameha: A powerful Ki blast fired with two hands after concentrating a large amount of Ki.

Standard Tactics: Pan will use hand to hand fighting, she has not direclty shown to use ki attacks though she didn't fight anyone strong enough or long enough to display this.

Weaknesses:

• Standard Ki Weaknesses: Due to the nature of ki draining stamina and energy, Dragon Ball characters ki usage requires them to usually use their higher levels of energy in short bursts, using a large amount of ki overtime can greatly weaken them to the point that characters far lower then them can actually harm them with attacks. Taking large amounts of damage can greatly deplete a ki users attacks, making it where attacks that would otherwise kill massively weakened characters, only pushes them back. Ki users that are able to ki sense cannot do it when their guard is dropped, such as when Vegeta was able to sneak attack Son Goku during the end of their fight in the Buu Saga. Despite some ki users being able to reach blasts that can destroy planets through charged attacks or techniques, they have not shown to be able to tank such blasts themself, with attacks that have destroyed several planets in the series always killing the character. Even characters such as Majin Buu's body cannot withstand the energy of a planet exploding.
