Hmm... Yeah, sorry. I was moon gazing. I know. It's just such a nice night out.
~ Alucard's first lines

No nobility, conviction, or rationale. You can't transform into mist or bats. You can't even recover from the wounds you take. You kill women and children when you don't even need to feed. And lastly, you can't even fight once the bullets run out. You still think you can be nosferatu? What a disgrace!!
~ Alucard to a vampire in Volume 1 Order 3

What a pissant. I'm starting to wish I'd never bothered to suck your blood. You could've died as a human then, had you chosen to. But you chose the night. No matter how much you long for the light of day... All it would do is devour your body. Listen to me, police girl. Once you deny the morning sun and begin to walk the night, you can never, ever turn back to the day! But maybe this too could work. There may be a place for a timid "evening walker" like you.
~ Alucard to Seras Victoria

"Even if I hide?" I'm not running or hiding. I just got a bit tired of waiting for you.
~ Alucard to Luke Valentine

Sow?! That's what I'd expect from the infamous section XIII. Always trying to impose their peace and laws on everyone else. Those at the top squelching any who oppose their power. Nothing ever changes. Nothing's ever changed in Rome these past 2000 years.
~ Alucard to Maxwell

Stop!! Anderson!! You mean to become a monster?! God's monster?! You mean to become an immortal true toy of god's power? It's the same. Practically the same piece of shit! As a monster that affirmed god. As a monster that denied god. Do you intend to use that ruin... ...Of a miracle to become a ruin of miracle yourself? Do you intend to send our struggle away... ...To that other shore? A monster like me, a weak monster that could not go on being human... ...Must be defeated by a human!! Stop this, human!! Don't become a monster like me.
~ Alucard to Alexander Anderson
You're something else. Your training is superb, for a man. Rival! Come kill me!! Come pierce this heart with your bayonets!! Like five hundread years ago!! Like a hundred years ago!! Put an end to the interstice of this, my dream!! Beloved mortal foe!!
~ Dracula to Alexander Anderson
Yup, too bad. You screwed up. I had thought I was all out. But half-eaten dog bait's surprisingly good. What's wrong, black one? Stand up. You can't just say "Okay, I give up." after getting hit once. Boy. That's what you get for becoming a vampire through a no-good hack. Regeneration and healing take a huge toll on your body. Now, what'll happen to you? I bet you can't keep that form sustained. Not like that, your heyday!! So what'll it be? Back to being an old man? Or maybe... You'll be a kid again. Hi, Walter. Been sixty years, hasn't it? I'm not toying. You're the one who's toying. I'm just playing along with your show. Your child's play. Appearance and shape hold no meaning for me. I thought I told you sixty years ago. Not to mention why you turned traitor. You're a slow learner, boy. It's nothing, really. When you get down to the nitty gritty... This kind of thing's a kid fight. So look we're kids. Me! You!! It's the essence of conflict. "Unless you beat it down, you can't be yourself. For that you overturn anything and everything in a sacrifce sale. Yes, like me 500 years ago! Like you right now! Like Anderson!! Like that Major!! Didn't you want to fight with me? Otherwise, you wouldn't have been able to take a single step, would you? Would you even know which way to go? Do you fear becoming useless?! Do you fear old age?! Do you fear being left behind?! John Bull? Bullshit!! You're the one who's toying. You're a little punk. A scrawny little punk who hasn't changed a bit in the last sixty years. So. Bring it on, punk bitch!!
~ Alucard in his girl form to Walter

Background

Alucard is the main protagonist of the Hellsing series created by Kohta Hirano.

He is the most powerful weapon of the Hellsing Organisation which works against vampires and other such supernatural forces. Alucard is no mere Vampire; it has been implied that he is the most powerful vampire alive and may be the most powerful character in the series, rivaled only by The Captain and Alexander Anderson. He is also Seras Victoria's Master and a very loyal servant to the Hellsing Organisation's leader; Sir Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing.

This dropdown contains the synopsis of Alucard’s story. Read at your own risk as you may be spoiled otherwise!

The Dawn
Arthur Hellsing gave him the name Alucard. In 1944, Alucard, alongside a young 14-year-old Walter C. Dornez, was dispatched on a mission to Warsaw, Poland, to sabotage Millennium's vampire creation program. Although they seemingly destroyed the project, the main figures behind it managed to escape. Many years later, in 1969, Alucard was confined to a dungeon within the Hellsing manor by Arthur himself. Sir Hugh Irons later explained that Arthur Hellsing had come to the conclusion that Alucard was "too powerful a drug to be used as more than the occasional medicine."

Before the Events of Hellsing: Ultimate
After Arthur Hellsing's death, Richard Hellsing, driven by jealousy over Integra inheriting the leadership of the Hellsing family, sought to hunt her down and end her life. However, Integra managed to evade her treacherous uncle and found refuge in a dungeon within the sublevels of the mansion, a place where her father had promised she would find salvation. Expecting to encounter a knight, Integra instead discovered the decayed corpse of someone long forgotten. As Richard caught up to her, he cornered Integra and shot her in the shoulder, causing her blood to spill across the floor. To her surprise, the corpse—revealed to be a vampire imprisoned by Arthur 20 years prior—was revived by her blood. The vampire, now reawakened, proceeded to slaughter Richard and his men, thus saving Integra’s life.

In a final attempt to kill her, Richard fired another shot at Integra, but the vampire intervened, blocking the bullet. Grabbing a gun, Integra shot and killed her uncle, securing her place as the last living heir of the Hellsing bloodline. The vampire, who introduced himself as Alucard, then pledged his loyalty to her, becoming her servant from that moment forward.

Volume I
Alucard makes his first appearance when the Hellsing Organization is summoned to investigate mysterious events occurring in the town of Cheddar.

Meeting Seras Victoria
Alucard's first encounter occurs when the Hellsing Organization is called to investigate mysterious events in Cheddar. There, he meets Seras Victoria, one of the police officers who had been sent in earlier to deal with the situation, as well as their target, the Cheddar Priest. After hearing Seras scream, Alucard approaches them with a smile. When questioned about his identity, he coolly declares that he is the priest’s death.

The priest, mocking Alucard, responds, "My death? Oh really...? My god. This is pathetic." He then snaps his fingers, ordering his army of armed ghouls to kill Alucard. The ghouls storm Alucard with bullets, creating a massive cloud of grey smoke after they finish shooting. When the smoke clears, the priest laughs maniacally, believing Alucard to be dead. However, Alucard's eye suddenly glows bright red, and numerous caterpillar-like creatures surround his body, beginning the process of regeneration. His body, including his clothes and hat, is fully restored, and with a smile, he pulls out a massive pistol, the "Casull," and points it at the priest’s ghouls. A single shot from the Casull obliterates them instantly, and Alucard turns around, firing once more, wiping out the remaining ghouls surrounding him. This display terrifies the priest.

Alucard reloads the Casull and explains its ammunition: “The Silver Cross of Manchester Cathedral was melted down to make this 13-millimeter exploding shell.” He adds that nothing he shoots will ever get back up. The priest, believing he can use Seras as a shield, places her between himself and Alucard’s Casull, thinking the vampire will hesitate to shoot. However, after realizing Seras is a virgin, Alucard shoots anyway. The bullet from the Casull pierces through Seras' heart before continuing through and killing the Cheddar Priest. As the priest lets go of Seras, Alucard rushes forward and impales him with his hand, finishing him off.

Afterward, Alucard offers Seras a chance to avoid death by turning into a vampire, an offer she accepts. Later, Alucard brings Seras to Integra, introducing her as a new member of the Hellsing Organization. Integra, initially thinking Seras was simply a survivor of the incident, is shocked to learn that Seras is now a vampire. She angrily confronts Alucard, who calmly responds that he had no other choice.

Bermingham Mission
Alucard begins his efforts to teach Seras how to embrace her new vampiric nature, guiding her in unlocking her bloodlust and tapping into her newfound superhuman abilities. Meanwhile, Alucard approaches Integra, who begins to feel nostalgic. This nostalgia triggers a memory of events that occurred ten years prior, when Seras and Alucard had mocked her, causing Integra to become enraged. In her fury, Integra orders Alucard to eliminate Leif and Jessica during a mission in Bermingham.

Alucard responds by shooting through the door to introduce himself to Leif, swiftly and effortlessly eliminating him. However, Jessica seizes the opportunity to flee, thinking Alucard is distracted. Unbeknownst to her, Seras is silently watching from a distance. Taking advantage of her sniper skills, Seras eliminates Jessica with a precise shot, completing the mission.

Badrick and meeting Iscariot's Trump Card for the first time
During a mission in Badrick, Alucard is seen eliminating ghouls on the upper floors of a building. He takes a moment to sit down, drinking medical blood before giving Seras instructions on what to do next. However, his moment of rest is interrupted by Alexander Anderson, who ambushes them and impales Seras with multiple bayonets while she was being taught. Alucard, surprised by Anderson’s appearance and the “purification” of the house, smiles in response. After a brief exchange, both he and Anderson approach each other, preparing for a confrontation.

Although Alexander is fast enough to impale Alucard with two bayonets, Alucard retaliates by shooting him in the head at point-blank range with the Casull. Alucard compliments Anderson’s speed, but when he tries to aid Seras, Alexander shocks him by standing up and impaling him with two more bayonets. Alucard leaps forward, shooting Alexander again, the force of the bullets sending him stumbling back. As Alexander regenerates, he charges at Alucard, who dodges and continues firing. Despite the barrage, Alexander blocks every bullet with ease and throws several bayonets at Alucard, shattering windows in the process.

Taking advantage of the distraction, Alexander grabs Alucard’s hands and impales them with more bayonets, trapping him. As Alucard struggles, Alexander reveals his regenerative abilities, shocking Alucard. It is at this moment that Alucard realizes Alexander is a Human Regenerator. Alexander throws more bayonets at Alucard’s torso, and after a brief struggle, decapitates him.

Laughing at his victory, Alexander moves toward Seras, but Alucard orders her to drink his blood, giving her a chance to survive. Integra steps in, trying to stop Alexander, but Anderson dismisses her, calling her a “Protestant whore” and swiftly killing her bodyguards.

Just as Alexander is about to kill Integra, Alucard regenerates and re-engages in battle. Despite Alexander’s efforts, including cutting off Alucard’s arms, Alucard heals at an astonishing speed, forcing Anderson to retreat, stating that he is not ready to face Alucard yet.

After the intense battle concludes, Alucard, Integra, and Seras head back to the Hellsing Organization Manor.

Volume 2
Alucard is seen sleeping in his chair, deeply lost in a dream about his past encounter with Abraham Van Helsing, when he was defeated by the legendary vampire hunter. As the memories flood back, Alucard awakens suddenly, his eyes filled with sorrow as he cries tears of blood, haunted by the weight of his past.

After regaining his composure, Alucard makes his way to Seras’s room, where he finds Walter already present. Upon seeing the situation, Alucard calls Seras an idiot, expressing his frustration at her actions.

The Jackal
Walter introduces Alucard to his latest weapon, the Jackal, a powerful firearm that he has recently acquired. Alucard takes the weapon in his hands for the first time and remarks that it’s perfect, impressed by its craftsmanship. Seras, observing the weapon, stares in awe, clearly impressed by its design and power. Walter then turns to Seras, revealing her new weapon, the Harkonnen, further preparing her for the challenges ahead.

Later, the Hellsing Organization comes under attack by Luke Valentine and Jan Valentine. Alucard, hearing the sounds of conflict from upstairs, senses the impending danger. Walter receives a call from Integra, and Alucard expresses his excitement, knowing that Walter and Seras will go to rescue Integra. Alucard eagerly anticipates witnessing Walter’s true abilities, something he has long awaited after decades of serving under the Hellsing family.

Alucard leaves the manor, silently waiting for Luke Valentine’s arrival. After Luke quickly eliminates the Hellsing personnel who ambush him, he begins searching for Alucard. Eventually, Luke finds him and, taunting Alucard, asks whether he’s hiding. Alucard calmly responds that he is not hiding, ready for their inevitable confrontation.

Luke Valentine
After Luke introduces himself, he pulls out his M1 Garand, ready for a showdown. Before Alucard’s wineglass even has a chance to drop, both of them have their weapons aimed at each other’s heads at point-blank range. As the wineglass shatters, both Alucard and Luke fire simultaneously. The force of Alucard's Casull sends Luke reeling backward, while Luke’s M1 Garand shot excites Alucard, further fueling his anticipation for the fight. Alucard attempts to shoot Luke again, but Luke is quick enough to fire several rounds into Alucard before running out of ammunition and dodging Alucard’s return fire.

Luke, continuing to evade Alucard's shots, confidently declares that he will defeat the vampire and become number one. He charges at Alucard once more, taunting him with a “checkmate.” However, Alucard quickly realizes Luke has fallen into a trap. Luke leaps to avoid Alucard’s Casull shots once again. This time, as Alucard fires the Jackal, Luke is shocked and terrified to see the powerful weapon destroy a massive chunk of the wall. Alucard stands, bloodied but unbroken, and asks Luke for his name again. Impressed by Luke’s resilience, Alucard decides to release Control Art Restriction to Level One, revealing Luke’s true nature as a coward.

As the Baskervilles attack, Luke desperately dodges their assault, screaming in fear before fleeing in terror. However, Alucard’s arm, wielding the Jackal, emerges from one of the Baskervilles' mouths and shoots Luke in the leg. Luke falls to the ground, paralyzed with fear. Alucard approaches, emerging from the Baskerville, and taunts Luke to stand up and fight him while holding his own leg.

Luke, overcome by terror, calls Alucard a monster. Alucard, disappointed and enraged, glares at him. He insults Luke, calling him “dog food” before summoning another Baskerville from his right arm, which devours Luke in an instant. As he walks away, Alucard casually refers to Luke as “dog shit,” leaving behind only the remnants of his failed opponent.

Volume 3
Meeting the Wild Geese
Alucard makes his first appearance when he encounters the Wild Geese, a group hired for a mission. He dramatically walks through a wall, effortlessly passing through it, which sends a wave of fear through the group. As he steps into the room, he insults them, calling them “a pathetic bunch of live-livered cowards,” immediately establishing his dominance and chilling the air with his terrifying presence.

Second encounter with Alexander Anderson
At the museum, Enrico Maxwell insults Integra by calling her a “miserable English sow,” which prompts Alucard’s first appearance. In response to the insult, Alucard threatens to kill Maxwell for speaking ill of Integra, his master. Enrico, however, remains unfazed and calmly retorts by calling upon Alexander Anderson. This sets the stage for an immediate confrontation between Alucard and Anderson, both eager for a duel.

Before the situation escalates further, Seras unexpectedly steps in, posing as a museum guide. It is implied that there might have been some prior agreement with Walter to prevent Alucard from destroying the museum, as both Seras and Walter share a knowing smile after everyone clears the area. Realizing that now is not the right time to fight, both Alucard and Anderson decide to leave. Alucard, weary from the tense encounter, declares that he is tired, and the two part ways without further conflict.

Trip to Rio, Brazil
Later, Alucard encounters Walter and is surprised to see him still awake. He asks if Integra is sleeping, and the two briefly discuss the past. They reflect on the time, fifty years ago, when they wiped out the Nazis, both expressing disbelief that it was them who carried out such a task. Alucard then comments on Walter's aging, lamenting the inevitability of time, though Walter dismisses it, saying that aging is something the English can endure. Walter then informs Alucard that he will be sent to South America as soon as possible, prompting a conversation about Seras. Walter questions why Alucard turned Seras into a vampire, to which Alucard responds that it wasn’t on a whim but rather a decision Seras made of her own free will. Walter also reveals that Seras is an orphan, and though he has doubts about her ability to drink blood, Alucard remains firm in his stance. Before they can continue the conversation, Seras suddenly barges in.

The following morning, Integra wakes up to find Alucard in a new outfit, ready to leave. He explains that Seras will be put in a coffin for the journey. Integra comments on Alucard's new look, to which Alucard remarks that he can’t board a plane in his usual attire. He also expresses his distaste for the sun, though he clarifies that it is not fatal to him. Integra gives Alucard a single order: to "Search and Destroy."

Alucard, Seras, and Pip Bernadotte head to Rio, where Alucard adopts a new identity as "Mr. J. H. Blenner." Pip, bewildered by Alucard's use of his hypnosis power, questions what he did, to which Alucard responds that he did nothing and that everything is fine. Upon arriving at their hotel room, Pip expresses jealousy over how large the room is, while Alucard comments that Seras has been unusually quiet. He reflects on the coffin, stating that it is his domain, where he was born and died.

Alucard then wakes Seras up, and the trio exits the room. As they leave, Alucard is ambushed by the remaining BOPE members. In typical fashion, he sadistically and mercilessly slaughters them, impaling the last of them on flagpoles. As Alucard stands in the courtyard, the Dandyman, Tubalcain, appears and introduces himself, declaring his intention to kill Alucard. Without hesitation, Tubalcain attacks Alucard using his razor-sharp cards.

The Dandy Man
Initially, Tubalcain kept Alucard on the defensive, using trickery and an endless barrage of razor-sharp cards. However, Alucard managed to evade a lethal strike from Tubalcain's attack and took the battle to the roof of the hotel. There, he was momentarily aided by Seras, who fired her Harkonnen at the Millennium officer. Though Tubalcain easily deflected Seras' gunfire and even sliced through one of the Harkonnen's shells, the distraction allowed Alucard to activate his Control Art Restriction System at Level One. This enabled him to close the distance between himself and Tubalcain.

Alucard then tricked Tubalcain into attacking his shadow familiars, allowing him to grab the Millennium officer. With a powerful kick, Alucard severed Tubalcain's left leg below the knee. In a final effort to defend himself, Tubalcain attempted to slash Alucard with a card held between his fingers. Alucard responded by meeting the strike with his own hand, tearing both of their arms apart. As Tubalcain staggered in pain, Alucard regenerated from his injury and grabbed the Dandyman by the head, informing him that he had been ordered to "thoroughly" interrogate him for information on Millennium.

Unfortunately for Tubalcain, Alucard's "interrogation" was anything but conventional. He proceeded to drink Tubalcain's blood and absorb his soul, gaining access to the vampire's memories. As Tubalcain's remains began to burn away, Pip arrived in a helicopter to retrieve Alucard and Seras, escaping the scene.

Volume 4
After the chaos in Rio, Alucard and his team set up in a small Brazilian town. Alucard takes the opportunity to contact Integra, reporting that he now understands Millennium's plans. Integra, after a small verbal exchange with Alucard, orders him to return to London. Soon after, Seras and Pip return, presumably from shopping for groceries, and begin discussing how they’ll make their way back to London.

Before they can make any decisions, Anderson suddenly bursts through the door. He and Alucard exchange a few powerful blows before both draw their weapons. However, Anderson surprises them by staking a set of release papers to the wall, explaining that the Vatican will be arranging their transport back home.

Meeting an old friend and the declaration of War
In London, Alucard and his team attend a meeting with the Iscariot and Round Table members, overseen by Queen Elizabeth II. After a cordial exchange with the Queen, Alucard briefs the group on Millennium's plan to avenge their World War II defeat by deploying a newly created vampire army. Just after this report, Schrödinger interrupts, setting up a video conference between Integra and The Major. Following The Major’s speech about his plans, Alucard responds, stating it will be a pleasure to defeat Millennium again. He then follows Integra's orders and shoots Schrödinger in the head.

Later, the Royal Navy reports that Millennium has hijacked the HMS Eagle, an aircraft carrier. Integra, Walter, and Alucard travel to London to strategize on how to reclaim the ship. After dismissing several ideas, Walter suggests using a modified SR-71 Blackbird to get Alucard to the Eagle.

Rip Van Winkle
Alucard uses the SR-71 to fly above the HMS Eagle, staying out of range of its weapons, before nosediving toward the ship to prevent it from starting its engines. As Nazi soldiers and Millennium's first lieutenant, Rip Van Winkle, try to shoot him down, Alucard shields the plane with his own body, keeping it intact long enough to crash onto the flight deck. Upon landing, he confronts a terrified Rip, but the Nazi soldiers attack him. Alucard dismisses their assault and quickly eliminates them all. He then faces Rip again, who, summoning her courage, tries to use her magic bullets to throw him overboard. Just as he's about to fall, Alucard catches the bullet in his mouth and shatters it. He punches Rip, stakes her to the wall with her own gun, and devours her. Afterward, Alucard laughs maniacally as The Major readies his forces to strike London.

Volume 5
Despite the strategy of stranding the ship in the ocean (as vampires cannot cross large bodies of water unaided), Alucard uses his shadow powers to take control of the stalled HMS Eagle and sails it back to London. As he heads back, Millennium sets London ablaze, with only an advance force from Iscariot, led by Alexander Anderson, standing in their way.

Volume 7
Alucard later communicates telepathically with Seras during the Millennium attack on Hellsing Manor, led by Zorin Blitz, urging her to learn how to see through Zorin’s illusions.

Volume 8
As the Vatican battles the Last Battalion and slaughters civilians in London, Alucard finally arrives in the city. Shrouded by a thick cloud of fog, he leaps from the Eagle, hovering down between the Vatican forces and the Last Battalion, just as they are about to clash.

The Battle of London
When Alucard lands, both Alexander Anderson and the Captain of Millennium move to confront him, ignoring each other in favor of targeting Alucard. Alucard calls out to Integra, asking for an order, to which she commands him to eliminate every enemy of Hellsing. She then instructs him to release Level Zero, his most powerful and devastating form. As Alucard begins to unleash his release, his enemies are overcome with terror, sensing the impending doom. Despite their efforts, Anderson and The Captain retreat as Vatican and Millennium soldiers continue to futilely attack him.

True Identity
Ultimately, the Vatican and the Last Battalion are unable to harm Alucard. The shadow matter that constitutes his body, following the joint assault on him, spreads over the battlefield like a tidal wave. As it engulfs the city, human bodies rise from the shadow matter, revealing that Level Zero is the manifestation of all the souls Alucard has consumed, now taking corporeal form. The sight of this causes dread among his enemies, and despite their desperate attacks, they are powerless against him. Alucard then transforms into the appearance of Vlad III "the Impaler" Dracula, the form he took when he first became a vampire. His undead forces, led by familiarized versions of Tubalcain Alhambra and Rip Van Winkle, wipe out the remaining Vatican and Last Battalion forces, including their air support. As the one-sided massacre draws to an end, Alucard approaches Integra and Seras, acknowledging his pride in Seras for finally embracing her true vampire nature.

The Final Battle between Alucard and Anderson
The reunion between Alucard and Anderson was brief as Alexander charged at Alucard with his bayonets raised high. Alucard complimented his old foe before Anderson delivered a speech, challenging Alucard to kill him if he could. The two clashed once more, with Alucard in his Vlad Tepes form, wielding a broadsword. As Anderson backed off to throw his bayonets, Alucard shifted back to his Count-form and drew his guns, introducing Anderson to the Jackal. Anderson charged once again, but Alucard's Casull bullets were blocked by Anderson's speed. However, when Alucard shot Anderson with the Jackal, the explosion severed most of his left arm.

Despite the grievous injury, Anderson did not relent and charged again, slashing at Alucard. In response, Alucard summoned his familiars, leaping behind the swarm. Anderson found himself under a barrage of Alhambra's cards and Rip Van Winkle's bullets. Badly wounded and unable to regenerate the damage to his left arm, Anderson paused to catch his breath while Alucard taunted him, mocking the futility of his attempt to kill him. Undeterred, Anderson prepared to charge into the sea of familiars, Alucard approvingly watching him, sensing that Anderson might be the human opponent he had longed for, one who could actually kill him.

Anderson made his way through the familiars, but just as he was about to reach Alucard, he was saved by a group of Iscariot priests led by Heinkel Wolfe and Yumie Takagi. The priests engaged in suicide tactics, allowing Anderson a clear path to Alucard. Anderson then revealed his trump card, Helena's Nail, and prepared to stab himself with it. Horrified, Alucard pleaded with Anderson not to go through with it, telling him that he had enough strength to win as a man and begging him not to make the same mistake he had made. However, Anderson rejected Alucard's plea, stating that he did not wish to remain a man, but a storm of heartless piety. He drove the nail through his own heart.

Enraged, Alucard screamed in fury and pointed the Casull at Anderson, demanding retribution for his foolishness. But Anderson swiftly severed Alucard's arm and decapitated him in a single strike. Alucard’s headless body retaliated, blowing Anderson’s head off with his remaining strength. As the two foes fell, their bodies began to regenerate. Alucard’s shadow-like form reconstituted itself, but Anderson’s head regrew as a grotesque mass of thorny vines. Alucard fired his guns again, blowing off chunks of Anderson’s body, but the priest kept regenerating.

In a final attempt to end it, Alucard fired a Jackal round directly at the nail embedded in Anderson’s chest. But the bullet was stopped mid-flight by the vines that now surrounded Anderson. With a smile, Anderson leapt into the air and hurled a bayonet at Alucard’s head, impaling him and dealing the first real damage to the vampire. Vines erupted from the bayonet, setting Alucard’s body on fire, and his entire horde of familiars, mere extensions of his form, were burned in the process. The fiery explosion marked the first real moment of defeat Alucard had ever experienced.

Volume 9 and Volume 10
Alucard experiences a series of flashbacks, as if his life is flashing before his eyes. Among the disturbing memories, he relives his tragic past—being humiliated by a powerful Turkish ruler and suffering defeat in a war. These painful visions ultimately lead him to the fateful decision to become a vampire as he faces execution. However, just as he's about to meet his end, Seras intervenes, grabbing Anderson's blade to stop him from delivering the fatal blow. Though she’s immediately consumed by the burning vines, Seras clings to life long enough to urge Alucard to wake up. As the flames threaten to overwhelm her, Alucard finally regains his senses, takes hold of the blade, and pushes back.

He tells Anderson that, as a monster, he no longer has the ability to win, but with renewed strength, Alucard begins consuming Anderson's vines and shatters his blade. Transforming into his jumpsuit form, Alucard charges at Anderson with determination, while Integra and Seras watch the unfolding battle. Anderson tries to halt Alucard's advance by sending vines toward him, but Alucard slices through them effortlessly. He leaps toward Anderson, destroying the vines in his path, before grabbing Anderson’s heart and crushing it, ending the fight.

Unlike his usual demeanor after victory, Alucard is overcome with sorrow and, in a rare moment of vulnerability, screams at Anderson, lamenting that he made the same tragic choice Alucard once did. Despite the despair in Alucard’s voice, Anderson calmly laughs, remarking, "Monsters don’t cry. And that's why you became one, isn't it? So you wouldn’t have to." Alucard listens intently, and Anderson continues, "When a man’s tears dry up forever, they become a monster... so laugh... just as always." After exchanging a few final words, Anderson crumbles to dust, and his final “Amen” resonates in Alucard’s ears. Alucard silently echoes the word in response, a quiet end to their long and complex battle.

Walter, the traitor
The moment of sorrow is broken when Walter, now fully rejuvenated, descends from the sky onto Anderson's disintegrating remains. He reveals to the stunned Hellsing team that he has betrayed them willingly. Alucard, filled with sadness, remarks that Walter’s old, human body was far more beautiful than the immortal form he now possesses. Kneeling amidst Anderson's ashes, Alucard's mourning is interrupted by Walter’s call to action. Walter demands that Alucard rise and fight. At Walter’s challenge, Alucard asks Integra to reaffirm her kill order. Without hesitation, she does so, to the approval of both Alucard and The Major, as well as Walter, who seems to revel in the coming confrontation.

As Integra and Seras prepare to storm the Deus Ex Machina, Alucard and Walter engage in battle. Initially, Walter seems to have the upper hand, as most of Alucard’s usual fighting tactics are ineffective against his former ally. When Alucard prepares to use the Jackal, it is revealed that the pistol was made by Millennium, and The Doctor remotely destroys it. Undeterred, Alucard creates a hellhound, "Baskerville," out of his own body, but Walter effortlessly cuts it in half. To Alucard’s amusement, Luke Valentine crawls out of the hound’s remains. Walter quickly seizes control of both the hound's corpse and Luke, manipulating them as though they were mere puppets. However, Walter’s transformation takes a toll on him, and he begins to cough up blood as the wires go slack. Alucard, seeing this weakness, shoots Luke and finishes off the hound before re-engaging Walter.

The fight intensifies as Walter attacks with ferocity, severing Alucard’s limbs, slicing his torso in half, and suspending him mid-air with his wires. Eventually, Walter ages rapidly and collapses, taking up a piece of rebar and stabbing what he believes is Alucard's heart. However, Walter is shocked to discover that it was only Luke Valentine’s body in disguise, and the real Alucard, now in the form of a young girl, punches Walter with incredible force. The blow causes Walter to revert to his 14-year-old self, a change that Alucard speculates was due to his own fear of aging and becoming useless. Alucard mocks Walter for his obsession with victory, implying that the defeat of Alucard was merely a way to boost his shattered self-esteem.

Alucard then begins to absorb the blood of London’s deceased citizens, as well as the fallen military forces. Walter’s futile attempts to stop him include bisecting Alucard with his wires, but the vampire regenerates effortlessly, continuing to consume the city’s lifeblood. In the midst of this, Walter seems to give up, and Alucard, holding him in contempt, prepares to end his life. Unknown to Alucard, Schrödinger, desperate and consumed by his own circumstances, commits suicide. His remains are absorbed into the flow of blood that Alucard is consuming, and Alucard unknowingly takes in Schrödinger’s soul. When this happens, The Major claims that Alucard has finally lost.

Alucard's defeat
The vampire arrogantly mocks him for saying so, but as he does, he sees the sunrise. As he gazes at it, he recalls that whenever he thought he was about to die, he saw the sunrise in just the same manner. This time, however, for some reason, it seems more beautiful to him than ever before, and he starts to disappear as the Major explains to Integra what is happening. He explains that as long as Schrödinger can recognize himself, he exists everywhere and nowhere; but because he is absorbed by Alucard, he became a part of Alucard and was thus no longer a separate entity that could recognize itself.

Thus, Alucard, now containing Schrödinger, can no longer stay in phase with the rest of reality and is becoming "a set of imaginary numbers", existing on some level, but not in reality. Integra shouts an order at Alucard not to disappear, but as his numerous eyes continue to close, he tells Integra that there is nothing he can do, and bids her farewell as he closes his final two eyes. All that is left is a bloodstained Hellsing pentagram on one of the cobblestones in the street.

Aftermath and Legacy
After Alucard's death, Integra was saddened and argued with The Major about whether he or Alucard was a monster. After the battle of London is over, Integra was revealed to be sorrowful, not only for Alucard but for Walter, too. Seras assures Integra that Alucard will come back.

Alucard reappears in Integra's bedroom after a 30-year absence. He approaches a sleeping Integra and leans down, apparently with the intention of biting her. Before he can do so, however, Integra wakes up and unloads a handgun into him, knocking him to the floor. The commotion alerts Seras, who kicks open the bedroom door and turns on the lights. The two women find themselves staring at Alucard, who is sitting up against the wall regenerating. Integra, now an old woman, asks him to explain what he was doing this whole time, and he tells her that he was killing his own lives except for one so that he could exist with Schrödinger's powers. She asks him if he is hungry, to which he responds that, after 30 years of not eating anything, of course he is. When Integra regretfully comments on how old she is now, Alucard simply tells her that it is fine with him. She then smiles, bites her finger, and gives him a drop of blood, as Alucard, having finally earned his right to immortality, licks. Alucard's eyes seem to have changed slightly due to possessing only a single soul.

Saved the life of Seras Victoria, by turning her into a vampire after shooting her in order to kill the Vicar[26]. Views practices from vampires such as killing women and children when they don't need to feed, along with lacking many basic skills of a vampire as lacking nobility, conviction or rationale[27]. Has fought and killed human soldiers when they tried to ambush and kill him[28], with him feeling no remorse from doing so and noting to Seras that the humans started the war against them so they naturally will strike back[29] though before killing the rest of the soldiers stationed outside, he waits for Integra to give him orders to do it[30], and then proceeded to massacre all of them[31])

Codex Statistics

Tier: Low 8-C, Higher with Restriction Level 1. 8-B with SR-71 Recconnaisance Jet Crash | Low 8-C

Cardinality: Finite

Dimensionality: 3-D | 3-D Avatar, Unknown True State (Absorbed the blood of Schrödinger's Cat, becoming the concept itself, where he is both everywhere and nowhere as long as he's cognizant of himself[32][33][34][35], Alucard is neither alive or dead, and nothing more then a cluster of imaginary numbers[36][37][38][39])

Attack Potency: Small Building level (Punched through a vampire hard enough to cause his entire body to explode into blood[40]. Punched through the Vicar hard enough to cause his entire body to turn into paste[41]. Casually cut multiple men apart with a swing of his hand while just recovering from being a corpse[42]. It is noted by Integra that Alucard has spent 100 years being gloriously built into the ultimate undead[43]. Vampires are noted to be exceeedling powerful, being able to tear through humans like they were mere rags[44]), Higher with Restriction Level 1 (Easily overpowered and killed Luke Valentine[45][46] who he in his prior form was fighting equally too[47]. Overpowered and defeated Tubalcain Alhambra, who is able to destroy entire buildings and was fighting relative to his base self). City Block level with SR-71 Recconnaisance Jet Crash (Can use the SR-71 Recconnaisance Jet to crash straight into the enemy, resulting in these levels of energy) | Small Building level (Regained his form and shouldn't be any weaker then before)

Durability: Small Building level (Tanked the destruction of the SR-71 reconnaissance jet, which gives these levels[48][49]), Higher with Restriction Level 1. Regeneration & Immortality make him difficult to kill | Small Building level, Regeneration & Immortality make him extremely difficult to kill

Striking Strength: Small Building Class, Higher with Restriction Level 1 | Small Building Class

Lifting Strength: At least Superhuman (Vampires are noted to be exceedingly powerful, being able to tear through humans like they were mere rags[50]. Has casually lift and threw humans, superior to Seras Victoria who can casually lift several extremely large firearms and weapons on her back with no issues[51], and he orders to move his and her caskets around[52], which as oversized caskets, weigh around 500 lbs each), Class 100 with Restriction Level 1 (In this state he lifted a falling SR-71 reconnaissance jet[53], which has a combined gross takeoff weight of 140,000 pounds and fuel weight of 80,000 pounds or 99,790.3214 kg in total), Class M with Telekinesis (Telekinetically controlled a HMS Eagle to come back towards London[54], which weighs 22,000 tons under standard load) | Class 100

Travel Speed: Superhuman (Upon waking up he moved fast enough to cut off a man's head before he could react, and then proceeded to kill four men at once before they could react[55]), Higher with Restriction Level 1 | Superhuman

Attack Speed: High Hypersonic (Was able to fight comparably to Luke Valentine[56], who was able to dodge shots from Alucard's guns[57]. Was able to tag the Vicar[58], who was able to casually dodge gunfire[59]. Upon waking up he moved fast enough to cut off a man's head before he could react, and then proceeded to kill four men at once before they could react[60]), Higher with Restriction Level 1 | High Hypersonic

Reaction Speed: High Hypersonic (Caught a bullet from Rip Van Winkle's gun with his mouth[61], which can circle around and tag a[62] SR-71 reconnaissance jet[63], that was nosediving at full speed[64], which is noted to move faster then mach 3[65], giving the bullet these speeds[66]. It is noted by Integra that Alucard has spent 100 years being gloriously built into the ultimate undead, which would make him superior to any regular vampires[67], who can avoid point blank gunshots from[68] Rip Van Winkle's gun. Blocked multiple gunshots and caught the bullets from close range[69]. Blocked against multiple gunshots from a submachine gun[70]. Casually blocked a gunshot from hitting his mistress while just recovering from being a corpse[71]), Higher with Restriction Level 1 | High Hypersonic

Stamina: Superhuman+ (Has went through various different battles without tiring, easily taking down entire army of soldiers with no real issues[72], killed over three million, four hundred twenty-four thousand, eight hundred and sixty-seven souls in the span of thirty years without tiring[73])

Range: Standard Melee, Several Meters with Air Manipulation (Vampires are able to attack enemies from a distance away with mere flicks[74]), Hundreds of Meters with abilities (His abilities should still be superior to a fully vampire Seras Victoria, who could use her shadows to cover an entire building[75]), Kilometers with Casull and Jackal (Able to shoot a target from one kilometer away[76]), Multiversal with Schrödinger's Cat (Absorbed the blood of Schrödinger's Cat, becoming the concept itself, where he is both everywhere and nowhere as long as he's cognizant of himself[77][78][79][80], The state can be controlled to where the user doesn't need to be omnipresent but merely choose where they want to be[81], where the user can enter a persons thoughts[82], with this further being confirmed by Alucard[83]. As Schrodginer's Cat and Wave Functions are mentioned, this has the Hellsing verse run under quantum mechanics, which contains the many worlds theory, with this Alucard should be able to appear in any universe he wishes under the Schrödinger's cat state)

Intelligence: Extraordinary Genius Intelligence (Notes to Seras Victoria to stop using normal human aiming as she'll always miss like they do and then proceeds to shoot a target from one kilometer away dead on[84])

Knowledge: Grandmaster level (Noted that Alucard is a special anti-vampire expert, with Integra noting no one is more of an expert then him when it comes to monsters and vampires[85]. Casually shot down multiple men without much trouble[86]. Alucard was disgusted and disgraced by a vampire not being able to transform into mist or bats, recovering from the wounds they take and not being able to fight once bullets run out, viewing these as basic abilities[87]. Noted that Hellsing is handling the vampire attacks from skillfully then one thought they would and have kept casuaties to a minimum[88]. Easily took down an entire army of soldiers that had him surrounded with just two guns[89])

Powers and Techniques

Superhuman Physical Characteristics (Vampires are noted to be exceeedling powerful, being able to tear through humans like they were mere rags[90]), Enhanced Senses (Vampires through using their third eye are able to see targets even from 600 meters away at nighttime[91]), Extrasensory Perception (It is noted that vampires have excellent reflexes and conceptration, a sixth sense[92]), Pierce Resistance (Standard Pierce Resistance; Noted that guns won't do a thing and that guns could never kill a vampire[93], vampires such as Alucard can casually block bullets[94]), Surface Scaling (Vampires can walk on walls and run up them[95]), Immortality (Ageless; Vampires are noted to be ageless and immortal[96]), Regeneration (Low-Mid; Vampires can normally regenerate from things such as Alucard being shot up by multiple guns at once and losing parts of his body and arms[97]), Resurrection (Through blood coming on their body or drinking it, vampires are able to reanimate their corpses[98]), Supernatural Resilience (Vampires can survive any wounds, even from their weaknesses as long as it doesn't target their heart[99][100]), Precognition (Analytical Prediction; Vampires are able to feel a humans killing intent and read their movements[101]), Transformation (Shapeshifting; Alucard views as basic vampire abilities the ability to transform into mist or bats[102]), Telepathy (Vampires are able to speak telepathically with their servants][103]), Intangibility (Phasing; Vampires are able to phase through walls[104], along with phasing from the floor[105]), Corruption (Vampires can only breed more vampires by drinking the blood of a virgin of the opposite sex, others are simply food and end up becoming ghouls, the servants of vampires[106]), & Mind Manipulation (Mind Control; Vampires that attack victims who are not virigins turn them into zombies that are under their control[107]), Air Manipulation (Vampires are able to attack enemies from a distance away with mere flicks[108]), Blood Manipulation (Vampires are able to suck the blood from humans which acts as both their sustenance[109], and as a way to heal or resurrect themself[110]), Absorption, Metaphysics Manipulation (Soul Manipulation & Essence Manipulation), Conceptual Manipulation & Power Absorption (It is noted when Alucard reaches level 0 by Integra that vampires sucking the blood out of one is to make the whole existence of a life one's own, which makes previously devoured opponents apart of them and they gain their abilities[111][112][113][114], with people like The Major further noting that the life of souls is similiated through sucking one's blood[115], along with this vampires can even absorb the blood of abstract concepts such as the schrodinger's cat[116][117][118][119]. Alucard upon biting Rip Van Winkle absorbed her and her blood into his body[120]), Paradox Existence Negation (Concept and Non-Concept), Personal Nonexistence Negation (Metaphysical Nonexistence), Immortality Negation (Life and Death Immunity) & Regeneration Negation (Abstract; As vampires can absorb the blood of abstract concepts such as Schrodinger's cat, they can also completely kill the Schrodinger's Cat user for good, gaining the ability themself[121][122][123][124]. Where in the state of Schrödinger's Cat, one is neither alive or dead, and nothing more then a cluster of imaginary numbers[125][126][127][128], where users such as Alucard returned back to his physical form[129] after being erased on such a scale that he became a collection of imaginary numbers, existing everywhere and nowhere, meaning he was nonexistent through every point in time[130][131][132][133]), Fusionism (Through sucking one's blood, vampires have a combination with the existence of others and the fusion of their lives and minds[134]), Animal Manipulation (Noted that vampires can manipulate wolves and bats[135]), Illusion Manipulation (Standard Illusions; Vampires can cause illusions such as growing into massive giants that can cut through entire buildings[136]).

Resistance to Illusion Manipulation (Standard Illusions; Vampires through the use of their third eye can see through illusions, along with this, even vampires untrained in their third eye will be able to tell that something is an illusion[137])

Vehicular Mastery (Air Vehicles; Alucard is able to pilot and fly a SR-71 reconnaissance jet[138][139], which are jets that are tricky and delicate to fly properly), Weapon Mastery (Marksmanship; Shown to be a master wielder of his guns, being able to dual wield them to shoot down multiple foes at once[140]. Able to shoot a target from one kilometer away dead on[141]), Intimidation (Alucard has sent fear and intimidation into people, causing a soldier to kill themself after they saw what Alucard did to all of their comrades[142]. Sent immense fear and terror into Rip Van Winkle, making her unable to move[143], along with his mere near presence making her fall to her knees and go into a panic state[144]. His presence and the start of his restriction level 0 sent fear into over 3000 soldiers[145]), Pain Tolerance (Alucard can take massive amounts of pain without any real reaction from him, being able to take gunshots to the head[146], even against attacks that negate his regeneration and healing[147]), Reliance (Reliance [On Object], Partial; It's revealed in his level 0 state by Alexander Anderson, that the reason Alucard never dies is because everytime he suffers a blow that would kill a vampire, a soul will be sacrificed for him[148][149][150][151], with Alucard holding over three million, four hundred twenty-four thousand, eight hundred and sixty-seven souls, this makes him virtually unkillable[152]. Extra Replacements; As Schrodinger exists everywhere and nowhere, it would exist even before Alucard has obtained Schrodinger in a paradoxical sense), Enhanced Senses (Alucard could smell the scent of men being stabbed, women being cut down, babies being burned and elderly being shot to death miles away from London[153]), Aura (Alucard is noted to have a powerful chi one can sense[154]), Regeneration (High-Mid by himself; Alucard is able to regenerate from his head being cut off[155]. Low-Godly with his souls; Alucard can regenerate his body from nothing left through using one of his millions of souls to give him a new body[156], even if his body is incapable of being healed back, he will be able to regenerate a new one such as when he took the form of a girl[157]), Power Suppression (Statistics Suppression & Ability Suppression; Alucard has put restriction levels on himself to withhold his immense power[158][159]), Telekinesis (Telekinetically controlled a HMS Eagle to come back towards London[160]), Mind Manipulation (Mind Control; Alucard is able to hypnotize someone through touch[161]. Mind controlled one of the subordinates to open the elevator when the rest of the soldiers were trying to close it to get away[162]), Fire Manipulation (After biting into Tubalcain Alhambra, he caused him to set on fire and burn to death[163]), Memory Manipulation (Alucard manipulated the memory of a pilot he hijacked a helicopter from where he had no memories of what he was doing there[164]. Through biting into Tubalcain Alhambra[165], everything he and the nazis were up to were engraved into Alucard's brain[166]), Weather Manipulation (Caused a massive fog around him and his ship so no one could detect him while he was entering the harbor[167]), Illusion Manipulation (Standard Illusions) & Resistance Bypassing (Put an illusion on Walter as a vampire that he could not see through[168]. Alucard put illusions around Luke Valentine[169]).

Resistance to Regeneration Negation (Holy) & Vampiric Weaknesses (It was noted by both Integra and Anderson that none of Anderson's current blessed equipment would be enough to kill Alucard[170], which is equipment used to negate the regeneration and healing of vampires[171]), Extreme Heats (Was unaffected by being surrounded by fire[172]), Purification, Fire Manipulation & Soul Manipulation ( It's revealed in his level 0 state by Alexander Anderson, that the reason Alucard never dies is because everytime he suffers a blow that would kill a vampire, a soul will be sacrificed for him[173][174][175][176], with Alucard holding three million, four hundred twenty-four thousand, eight hundred and sixty-seven souls, this makes him virtually unkillable[177]. Was stabbed by Anderson's blade which purified all of the souls in his body yet remained fine and ended up defeating Anderson[178][179][180][181])

Summoning (In his restriction level 1 state, he can summon multiple dog-like shadow creatures to attack his opponents[182][183]), Statistics Boost (In this state, Alucard's strength is massively increased, along with the fire power from his guns being able to completetly blow a persons leg off[184][185]), Transformation (Body Morphing; In his Restriction Level 1 State, he is able to create dozens of hands that all cut through soldiers casually[186]), Sealing (The dogs that eat his enemies in his restriction level seals their souls within[187][188][189]).

Resistance to Regeneration Negation (Magic; In this state Alucard is able to regenerate from Tubalcain Alhambra's cards[190], which were able to negate his regeneration beforehand[191])
Necromancy (In Restriction Level 0, Alucard releases the over millions of souls he has in his body and sends them into battle[192][193][194][195]), Blood Manipulation (Gained all the blood from all of London to feast on[196][197]), Regeneration Negation (Magic; Has Tubalcain Alhambra in him[198][199][200][201], whose cards were able[202] to negate his regeneration beforehand[203]), Homing Attack (Has Rip Van Winkle in him[204][205][206][207], whose bullets endlessly home in on a target until they're dead[208])

All previous powers and abilities to a far greater extent, though he no longer has any of the souls he absorbed beforehand, Nondualism (In the state of Schrödinger's Cat, Alucard is neither alive or dead, and nothing more then a cluster of imaginary numbers[212][213][214][215]), Reality Separation & Omnipresence (True Omnipresence; Absorbed the blood of Schrödinger's Cat, becoming the concept itself, where he is both everywhere and nowhere as long as he's cognizant of himself[216][217][218][219], the state can be controlled to where the user doesn't need to be omnipresent but merely choose where they want to be[220]), Teleportation & Dimensional Travel (The state can be controlled to where the user doesn't need to be omnipresent but merely choose where they want to be[221], where the user can enter a persons thoughts[222], with this further being confirmed by Alucard[223]), Immortality (Life and Death Immunity; In the state of Schrödinger's Cat, Alucard is neither alive or dead, and nothing more then a cluster of imaginary numbers[224][225][226][227], even if one kills Schrödinger, they will come back as they are a state of being alive nor dead thus their death is merely imaginary[228][229][230]), Regeneration (High-Godly; Alucard returned back to his physical form[231] after being erased on such a scale that he became a collection of imaginary numbers, existing everywhere and nowhere, meaning he was nonexistent through every point in time[232][233][234][235]), Paradox Existence (Concept and Non-Concept; In the state of Schrödinger's Cat, Alucard is neither alive or dead, and nothing more then a cluster of imaginary numbers[236][237][238][239]), Personal Nonexistence (Metaphysical Nonexistence; As Alucard exists both everywhere and nowhere and is merely a set of imaginary numbers, he does not exist[240][241][242][243]), Soul Manipulation ( Killed over three million, four hundred twenty-four thousand, eight hundred and sixty-seven souls in the span of thirty years without tiring[244], all while not existing for those 30 years)

Equipment

Hellsing ARMS .454 Casull Auto
Hellsing Combat Pistol 'Jackal'
Thompson SMG

Notable Techniques

  • Regeneration: Alucard has the ability to perfectly and quickly recover from any physical injury. He has been torn to shreds by conventional weaponry and holy weaponry designed to kill his kind and has survived all of it. Holy weapons, while they do affect him more, are regenerated all the same if not as quickly[245].
  • Extrasensory Perception: Alucard has senses that are not only sharper than a mortal's, affording him abilities such as perfect accuracy, but he has abilities that they completely lack. In particular, he possesses a 'third-eye' which allows him to see things from far, far distances[246]. Though he never uses it to do so, he can likely see through things that fool human eyes, as Seras does when facing Zorin Blitz[247] . This is not an inherent ability and must be used consciously, as Alucard was unable to see through Tubalcain's illusionary clones. Similarly, Seras was unable to see through Zorin's illusions until told outright that's what they were.
  • Dark Composition: Though he generally dons a corporeal, humanoid form, Alucard is made up of a highly variable otherworldly substance that is black in core and reddish on its edges[248]. This can be especially seen whenever he takes heavy damage, the darkness being immune to conventional weaponry. Along with composing his being, it can serve as a weapon. Alucard is able to transform this material into virtually anything he chooses, like a puddle of goo.
  • Intangibility: Alucard has the ability to walk through solid objects, such as walls[249].
  • Immortality: It is unclear if Alucard is a true immortal, but he is at least biologically immortal, immune to disease and aging. Alucard has suffered all manner of injury to the most extreme degrees, only to reform himself. This seems to indicate structural immortality as well, but the vampire himself asserts that there is no such thing as a true immortal[250]. This means his immortality is only biological, and there is a way to kill him. Anderson's talk of him being "alone"[251] and his duel with Walter implies that after his seals are removed, his heart is vulnerable to being impaled, if not other forms of destruction, which would, in turn, destroy him for good. After absorbing Schrödinger, his immortality may have been augmented, but if so, it is not known how.
  • Hematophagy: As a vampire, Alucard has the ability to consume blood raw. He has long, conical fangs to assist in this job as well as a serpentine-like tongue. His feeding habits have been seen to vary: from the traditional neck-biting[252] to simply ripping people to pieces and outright devouring them. Alucard doesn't seem to need blood to survive, however, if starved of it, he will enter an inactive death-like state.
  • Aestivation: Alucard will enter a dormant state if he goes too long without blood. It is unknown if he can be starved to death, as he goes decades without a drop of blood before a young Integra finds him. It is never made clear if this is unique to him or if all vampires can do this[253].
  • Hemokinesis: Alucard has the ability to manipulate blood [254]. This ability seems to be limited to blood outside of the body, as he is never seen influencing the blood of enemies while they are intact.
    • Soul Absorption: By draining a person of their blood, Alucard gains dominance over their souls and very forms. He also takes on whatever knowledge they possess, as he was able to find out about Millennium by draining Tubalcain Alhambra of his blood.
      • Anderson, surrounded by Alucard's familiar army.
Familiar Control: Alucard can summon forth anyone he's taking the soul of at will[255]. Whoever he absorbs, their powers are at his disposal. While Seras gives her familiar, Pip Vernedead, some free reign within her own soul, Alucard seems content to completely dominate everything living inside him. It is unclear if this is due to their individual wills or a lack of experience on Seras' part. It is unclear if Alucard is able to gain any familiars after consuming Schrödinger. During the battle of London, Alucard releases Level zero, his final restraint, and releases all souls that he possessed to roam freely, wiping out the entire Crusader army and almost all of the Last Battalion. He has thousands, if not millions, of familiars including Alhambra and Winkle themselves. In the end, all of them have been slain.
  • Shapeshifting: Though form is of no particular importance to him, Alucard claims to be able to change into anything. He has changed into a child, several bats[256], an amorphous darkness[257], has several "default" forms[258][259], and can assume the form of a hellhound[260]. It is unknown if he can take the shape of inanimate objects such as tables or chairs. In Ultimate 5, or chapter 34, Alucard was shown spawning multiple arms to hold Rip Van Winkle still while he's drinking her blood.
    • Mist Body: Alucard is capable of turning his body into some sort of dark reddish mist in order to render attacks against him useless[261].
  • Telepathy: Alucard is able to communicate telepathically with his fledgling, Seras. The telepathy doesn't seem to have a maximum range[262]. He can also read the thoughts of others, if he wishes.
  • Teleportation: Alucard is able to vanish and reappear at a different location. The range in which he can teleport is unknown. He also can't cross large bodies of water this way as shown when he had to pilot a plane to the H.M.S Eagle and later take control of the ship in order to return to England.
  • Telekinesis: Alucard showed said ability when he was able to move the HMS Eagle to London overnight. Said ability was also demonstrated in the OVA when he knocked away two of the queen's bodyguards without even touching them, and how he slammed the door shut when the SWAT team attacking him in the hotel tried to escape. It can also be assumed that he used telekinesis to toss all of the SWAT team out of the hotel to impale them on flag poles.
  • Daywalking: Other vampires operate in the dark, because of a presumed weakness to light. Alucard, however, seems to have no problem with sunlight, only complaining that being up during the day is exhausting.
  • Weather Control: The ability to control the weather to an unknown limit, as demonstrated by the fog created when he returned to London aboard the H.M.S Eagle.
  • Alucard's hypnosis ability.
Hypnosis: Alucard has the ability to control minds, doing so exclusively with humans. The afflicted human will enter a euphoric, stupor-like state and their eyes will glow red. They will be pliant to all of Alucard's designs, doing and speaking as he wills. This hypnotic link is established through direct eye-contact and does not waver, even when Alucard's attention is elsewhere[263].
  • Gravity Defiance: Alucard, during his fight with Tubalcain, is shown not only to be able to stand vertically on a wall, but run backward up it. This would indicate some ability to defy gravity. Also, during Seras' first mission, Alucard is seen floating behind Seras.
  • Supernatural Detection: The ability to sense supernatural activity. In The Dawn, a prequel to Hellsing, Alucard knew the Captain was a werewolf the moment he saw him, and in the OVA, he could see the blessings on Father Anderson's bayonets as well as the holy barrier preventing their escape.

Being too powerful to be left on his own, his power is restricted by the "Control Art Restriction System (拘束制御術式, Kōsoku Seigyo Jutsushiki?)" and has to be accessed by the "Cromwell Invocation". There are shown to be six levels of restriction and six corresponding states, with lower numbers meaning greater levels of power.

  • First Form:
The first form Alucard had in the OVA was in a black straightjacket that kept his arms right behind his back, he broke free of the restraints in order to protect Integra Hellsing from death. Alucard's appearance changed since then but every now and then he goes back to this form, he has used it; in his fight with Luke Valentine, his fight with Tubalcain Alhambra, when he attempted to board the Eagle and succeeded when he finally killed Anderson, and in his fight with Walter.
  • Young Girl Form:
In World War II (September 1944, specifically), when he arrived in Warsaw, Alucard took on the form of a little girl, known as "Girlycard" by many fans. Although he changed his looks, Alucard didn't change his voice (at least, in the OVA. It is possible that his voice changed in the manga). In this form, Alucard wears a hat made of fur, a white suit including a long coat, and for a weapon, he has a Tommy gun.
  • Buisiness Man Form:
When Alucard was sent by Integra Hellsing to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, along with Seras Victoria and Pip Vernedead, he changed his form to what seemed to be a businessman. Only Alucard's clothes seem to change here, as his hair is as it was before Abraham Van Helsing defeated him. Alucard wears a dark grey suit with a long coat he only wears over his shoulders, along with the goggle-sided sunglasses he usually wears.
  • Count Dracula:
Alucard is Count Dracula, the King Of Vampires, which means when he was human he was originally Vlad The Impaler, a three-time Voivode of Wallachia. Alucard's Vlad form is his "original" form, and when he is using it he wears shining silver armor and a large black cape, which is red on the inside. In the English dub, he also gains a Romanian accent. In real life, Vlad had a beard, but in Hellsing, he does not. He does, however, have a lot of stubble when he transforms. Also, when Alucard returns to Integra Hellsing and Seras Victoria in London, Seras asks Alucard after he transformed into Vlad- "You originally had a beard, didn't you?" (In the English dub she just playfully points out that he grew a mustache).
  • Count Form:
Alucard's most common form is his "Count" form, which is the same form described at the top of the page. It is possible that Alucard mimicked this attire from Abraham Van Helsing, who wore a similar uniform in Alucard's flashback in OVA 2. Alucard uses his "Count" form throughout the whole story of Hellsing, but only wears the fedora hat up to OVA 3, and the glasses up to OVA 4. Alucard sometimes manipulates this form; by increasing the length of the cape of his overcoat, even reaching his feet, or he simply wears the coat without having his arms through the sleeves and over his shoulders, as he does when he reaches the Eagle in OVA 4. Even though in "The Dawn" Alucard uses his form as a young girl, in the WW2 clips in the OVA 3 credits, Alucard is seen in his common "Count" form while being gunned down by Nazis, and regenerating shortly after. Alucard even reverts back to his "Count" form halfway through his second fight with Anderson, right after leaving his "Original" Vlad form. Interestingly enough, when he regenerates, so does his clothing.
  • Black Hound Form:
One form which is the least used appears to be his usage the Black hound of Baskerville's form. It appears as a large black dog with multiple eyes on each side of his face. Alucard is seen as the dog in the Hellsing opening as well as in the trailer for the Hellsing OVAs.

  • Omnipresence: After consuming Schrödinger accidentally and being lost within himself for 30 years, Alucard emerges with the Werekin's powers. He is both nowhere and everywhere. As people saw that Schrödinger couldn’t die when shot in the head, the reason behind this is due to people thinking of his existence and that he is able to escape death. The Major has stated that Schrödinger only exists for as long as he is aware of himself, however, Alucard didn't recognize himself during the events of the Battle of London, therefore, he disappeared and was gone for 30 years. Alucard, after he's back at the Hellsing Manor, explained that during the long 30 years, all he's been doing is killing all the souls inside of him when he absorbed the millions of people that died in London, except for one soul; Schrödinger's. So as long as Alucard is fully aware of his existence, he would be alive and can use Schrödinger's powers freely, however, if he does not recognize himself, he will disappear from reality itself and become "Nowhere". It is apparent that Alucard has this ability because he is able to appear within the Hellsing mansion as nothing but a shadow, not alarming Seras' familiar, shadow Pip, who covers the entire mansion. Thanks to this Alucard is able to do this as well as being able to be in places where normally he could not do[264].

Other

Standard Tactics: Alucard's strategy heavily vaires on how worthy he feels the opponent is, with low level enemies and vampires he will merely just use his two guns to shoot them to death. Though he employs battle strategy weaknesses such as letting himself get shot against opponents[265].

Weaknesses: Any servants or ghouls of vampires will perish if the head vampire is killed[266]. Along with this, the process of a corpse turning into a ghoul is not instantaneous and can take some time, allowing one to dispose of the corpse before it can turn into a ghoul[267]. A vampire will be killed if an attack goes through their heart[268], though it's noted that Alucard won't die just from being stabbed in the heart or having his head cut off[269]. Vampires can't plug up wounds gotten from a weapon blessed by a church[270]. Vampires can be trapped within holy barriers[271]. Vampires must sleep in a coffin in order to not have their powers weaken[272]. Vampires are unable to cross running waters like rivers and oceans, though Alucard seems unaffected by this[273], it's further noted that they cannot cross rivers, oceans, lakes or flowing canals[274]. Vampires carry a weakness to sunlight, though for Alucard, he just hates it[275]. Alucard will not try to dodge shots and let himself be shot when fighting against opponents[276]. Vampires detest garlic and crosses[277]. Eucharist wafers and holy water can burn a vampire's flesh[278]. Vampires can have their illusions negated through their true self being attacked[279]. If a vampire fuses with a concept such as Schrödinger's Cat, they run the risk of being erased based off the the concept[280][281][282][283]. Alucard himself wants truly a human to kill him, in which he will allow a human to kill him if he views the human as brave enough[284].

Trivia

  • Interestingly, in the English commentary for the first Hellsing Ultimate OVA, Crispin Freeman notes that he was originally going to give Alucard a Romanian accent, but decided on an American accent instead. Most likely, the Romanian accent heard in the intro of the English OVA II, and the one in OVA VIII upon unleashing level 0 is what Alucard was originally going to sound like. It's also likely that Alucard is meant to have a Romanian accent in the manga.
  • It has been noted by some that during Alucard's flashback, Prof. Abraham Hellsing is wearing a similar red outfit to Alucard's usual dress.
    • This could have been the inspiration for Alucard's well-known "Count" form.
  • In some scenes of the manga, the pentagram on Alucard's gloves changes to a hexagram or sometimes disappears entirely.
  • Alucard has two Paganism references on him. The obvious one is the Pentacle symbol on his gloves. The second is his epithet, "The Bird of Hermes." Hermes was the Greek messenger god, noted for his winged sandals and ability to fly. Hermes was also noted for transporting souls to the Underworld, while Alucard, in contrast, devours them.
    • "The Bird of Hermes is my name/Eating my wings to make me tame" is also part of the Ripley Scroll, a medieval work about emblematic symbolism. George Ripley was an alchemist who lived around Vlad the Impaler's time and is also said to have known the formula to create the Philosopher's Stone.
  • At the end of the credits of OVA 1, Alucard's girl form is shown, but with a dark greenish-brown jacket instead of white and the hair is purple instead of black.
  • In the manga, Alucard's gloves hold an easter egg, as one of the words readable was "Excel Saga" which is the name of an anime/manga made by Rikdo Koshi.
  • Before becoming a vampire, Alucard's eyes were a bluish-purple in the OVA. However, in his famous portrait, Vlad Tepes has brown eyes. There are also historical records that describe him as having "threatening" green eyes.
  • The character Solomon from Genndy Tartakovsky's Sym-Bionic Titan cartoon is a visual reference to Alucard.
