Gine

From The Codex
Bardock... Why are you going through so much trouble? It's not like a Saiyan man to worry about his children.
~ Gine
If this is all just Bardock being a worry-wart, we'll immediately come after you! Don't worry!
~ Gine

Background

Gine (ギネ Gine) is a female Saiyan whom was formerly a low-class Saiyan warrior, the wife of Bardock, and the mother of Raditz and Son Goku.

This dropdown contains the synopsis of Gine's story. Read at your own risk as you may be spoiled otherwise!

Appearance
Gine is a woman of average height and slender build. She has a lighter-pale skin complexion, onyx eyes, and shaggy black hair reaching her shoulders. Her hair bears a resemblance to her eldest son Raditz, except much shorter and with bangs. Her eyes also resemble in a certain way her youngest son Kakarot before growing up. She wore a sleeveless black bodysuit and dark green combat armor highlighted with bronze and outlined by white, in addition to purple armbands and white boots. Her armor also had a thigh-length hoop. Like all Saiyans in her respective universe, she naturally possesses a tail, which unlike most adult Saiyans, she lets sway freely rather than securing it around her waist, however this is due to it being common practice for Saiyans to let their tails loose while at home on Planet Vegeta, as wrapping it around the waist is primarily a battlefield practice as even Bardock is known to let his hang loose when at home in Dragon Ball Minus, Broly, and Dragon Ball Super.

In Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butōden, she wears pink battle armor with blue armbands.

Personality
Gine had a gentle, kindhearted, pure heart, loving, cheerful, energetic and caring personality similar to her youngest son and both her grandsons, and because of that, she was not cut out for fighting. Even more, she developed a genuine union of companionship with Bardock; a rare case for Saiyans, who normally do not develop male-female relationships except for breeding purposes.

However, despite her gentleness, she is shown to be protective of her youngest son, as she briefly argues with Bardock about sending Kakarot to Earth as an infiltration baby, knowing it is dangerous. She is also shown to be proud of Raditz for being assigned to invade a planet with the Saiyan Prince Vegeta, showing that she loves both of her sons.

In Dragon Ball Fusions, she nearly reveals herself to be Kid Goku's mother when she encounters him in the Timespace Rift, though reconsiders and decides to keep their relationship as mother and son from him much like her husband does when he meets Kid Goku. She is shown to stand up for her fellow Saiyans when she overhears some fighters plotting to crush a Saiyan before they can transform into a Super Saiyan and become a threat, however she ends up being badly injured. Her refusal to stand by while these men were plotting to kill a fellow Saiyan is quite similar to her son Goku, who is well known for his willingness to protect innocent people and animals. After Goku comes to her rescue, she worries about him when he is attacked by Yamma while asking if she is alright, though she is shocked when Goku stops the attack. Seeing how strong he has become, Gine decides she wants to do something to help her son while noting that Bardock would probably tease her for being overly sentimental. Like her husband, she has no problem referring to her son by his adopted name, Goku, though she does call him by his birth name when she first meets him.

Background
Gine used to be a member of Team Bardock. While she was a part of that team, Bardock routinely saved her from many dangers on the battlefield. This caused her to develop romantic feelings for him, which Bardock eventually began to return and the two grew to have a special bond. As she was not cut out for fighting, Gine went on to work at the meat distribution center on Planet Vegeta. She bears Bardock two sons, the first named Raditz, and the second named Kakarot.

Granolah the Survivor Saga
Main articles: Granolah the Survivor Saga and Bardock, Father of GokuGine makes an appearance in the flashback that shows the events that lead her husband to save the lives of the young Cerealian Granolah and the Namekian Dragon Clansman Monaito during the invasion of Cereal by Team Bardock (consisting of Bardock, Leek, Taro). It is revealed that Bardock found Granolah and his mother Muezli but couldn't bring himself to slaughter them due to being reminded of his wife and their newborn son, Kakarot which spurred him into helping them find shelter with another survivor, Monaito. Unfortunately, Muezli was killed by the Heeters leaving Granolah an orphan who grew up to hate the Saiyans for their part in the invasion.

During the brief flashback to when Gine introduced Bardock to their newborn son, Gine wonders if Raditz will be jealous he has a younger brother, and it is revealed Bardock was the one who named him Kakarot. Bardock is also shown to share his youngest son's ignorance to concepts unrelated to fighting as Bardock notes how Gine's belly was smaller indicating he doesn't fully understand how pregnancy works. It is also during said saga that Goku finally hears Monaito utter his father's name causing Vegeta to confirm that Bardock is the name of his father, with Vegeta noting that Goku's softheartedness apparently runs in his family, indicating he may be aware of Gine's gentle-hearted nature in addition to her husband's act of compassion on Cereal (presumably through Raditz and/or due Gine's gentle nature ultimately leading her to leave the Saiyan Army).

When Goku later listens to the audio on Bardock's scouter, his memories of his parents - previously lost due to his head injury as a child - were restored; him remembering Gine on the night he was sent away, as well as seeing other memories of her back when he was still growing in the nursing capsule.

Broly film and Dragon Ball Minus
On Planet Vegeta, Gine is butchering meat when Bardock returns from a mission and both greet each other in a hug. She tells Bardock that Raditz is already a fighter, and is working with Prince Vegeta. Since they are far away, though, they have not returned yet. When Bardock asks if Kakarot is still in the incubator, she replies affirmatively and tells that it took three years. Gine then says that she will take Kakarot out soon. A while later, Bardock tells Gine that he will steal an Attack Ball in the night so that they can send Kakarot to another planet. Gine questions Bardock, who reassures her that it is for Kakarot's sake. Gine remarks that it is not like a Saiyan (specifically Bardock) to worry about his children. Bardock shoots back that her uncharacteristic softness rubbed off on him.

When Bardock brings the Attack Ball at night, he and Gine put the little and distraught Kakarot inside. Gine suggests they all flee, but Bardock says it is no use since they would immediately be found through the scouters. Gine nervously reassures her son that if his father is just overthinking this, they will come after him right away. Bardock warns Kakarot not to look at the full moon; they will tell Raditz about this too and Kakarot's whereabouts. Bardock also warns Kakarot to watch out for the Galactic Patrolmen as the pod rockets Bardock puts his arm around Gine and both watch their son leaving Planet Vegeta.

Gine is presumed to be killed along with most of the other Saiyans when Frieza destroys Planet Vegeta. No account details her survival.

Codex Statistics

Grade: B

Tier: At least 8-B. Higher as an Oozaru

Cardinality: Finite

Dimensionality: 3-D

Attack Potency: At least City Block level (Despite being a low class warrior, she should be superior to Jaco, as he cannot defeat a fully grown Saiyan. Jaco easily took down several of Frieza's soldiers, who view power levels of 1,000 as completely weak, making them far beyond early Saiyan Saga Piccolo, who had a power level of at least 408, who is superior to 23rd Budokai Saga Son Goku, where he was far above his Red Ribbon Army Saga self who defeated General Blue who survived his plane crashing into a mountain at full speed{3.72 Tons of TNT}, then after his training with Korin, it was noted by Korin his power increased "manyfold", making him at least two times stronger then before {7.44 Tons of TNT}, and also drank the Water of the Gods, where he absorbed all the hidden potential within him, greatly boosting his power, as training with Korrin increased his power manyfold, an even greater object such as the Water of Gods should have roughly the same effect meaning he should've had at least gotten two times stronger{~15 Tons of TNT}). Higher an an Oozaru (Her power as a Great Ape increases tenfold, which would put her power level around 10,000, putting it above Son Goku when his power level was 8,000)

Durability: At least City Block level. Higher as an Oozaru, Higher with Guard Up (Ki allows a fighter to extend beyond their bodies limits, allowing them to even block attacks that would otherwise kill them from raising their guard)

Striking Strength: At least City Block Class. Higher as an Oozaru

Lifting Strength: Class 1 (Superior to Early Saiyan Saga Goku, who before training with King Kai is able to barely move around and jump in gravity that multiplies his weight by ten times, where he's naturally 62 kg, thus making him 620 kg on King Kai's planet), Higher as an Oozaru

Travel Speed: At least Superhuman (Should be far faster than Son Goku during original Dragon Ball and the very beginning of the Saiyan Saga), Higher as an Oozaru

Attack Speed: High Hypersonic, Higher as an Oozaru

Reaction Speed: High Hypersonic (Far beyond 22nd Budokai Son Goku, who could dodge a mouth blast from Tambourine, which he used to tag the flying nimbus where even post King Kai training Goku used the flying nimbus to make it to the saiyans implying it is at least comparable to his flight speed by then, with Goku being capable of traveling over a million of kilometers in two days which results in these speeds), Higher as an Oozaru

Stamina: Superhuman (Saiyans naturally have superhuman stamina due to being natural fighters. Should be comparable to Vegeta who stood thinking for three days without showing any signs of tiring or growing hungry)

Range: Standard Melee, Interstellar with Ki Attacks (Ki attacks can reach out of the planet and to other planets. All ki attacks should be comparable to Goku's kamehameha, which reached all the way to the sun)

Intelligence: Gifted Intelligence (Saiyans are naturally gifted in fighting, Gine despite being a low class warrior should be comparable)

Powers and Techniques

Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Chi Manipulation & Ki Manipulation (All beings in Dragon Ball have ki, the very life force energy of all characters, ki allows a fighter to extend beyond their bodies limits, allowing them to even block attacks that would otherwise kill them from raising their guard, higher level users can lower their own durability to allow people far below them to fatally wound them. A users ki aura can exert itself as a weapon to attack), Attack Reflection (All Ki users are able to reflect attacks just by being stronger than their opponent. Examples include, Nappa deflecting a masenko from Son Gohan, Son Gohan being able to bounce back the spirit bomb, Son Goku deflecting a crusher ball from Jeice, Frieza deflecting a Final Burst Cannon from Vegeta, Son Goku reflecting multiple death beams back to back from Frieza, and Future Trunks being able to completely repel an energy blast with his hand from a Frieza Soldier just by being much stronger than them), Aura (Has an aura of ki surrounding him whenever he exerts ki), Homing Attack (Ki users can create attacks that will home in and chase a target forever), Mind Manipulation (Characters can link their ki together and train within each other’s mind enacting in image training), Power Absorption & Transferal (Ki users can transfer their ki to others and absorb the ki given to them from others), Forcefield Creation (Ki users such as Cell can generate forcefields around themselves. These forcefields can be expanded, and used to protect others and defend against attacks far higher then the user), Super Armor (Through releasing one's ki, they enter a state known as "Hyper Mode", in this state they do not flinch from weak melee attacks), Self-Destruction (Ki users in Dragon Ball are able to release all of the energy within them to cause a massive self-destruction of energy that normally kills the user and turns them into dust though one can control it to surviving but having no stamina or energy left), Vibration Manipulation (Powerful ki users can cause the very ground itself to shake when they power up), Intimidation, Spirit Manipulation & Pain Manipulation (Ki is the manifestation of one’s lifeforce, along with the aura giving one the feeling of being crushed, exerting fear into the target, sometimes making them incapable of moving as their body is instinctively stuck due to the sheer difference in power), Energy Manipulation (Ki is the latent power in one's body, this latent power allows them to form and create energy from controlling their ki, which can be used to shoot out energy blast), Explosion Manipulation (Ki attacks can create massive explosions, control the ki to set off a huge explosion under the enemy, or in front of them), Heat Manipulation (Ki user's ki attacks produce heat allowing them to cook and grill animals and raw meat[1][2], along with leaving behind steam after the attacks hit an area, showing its latent heat), Nullification (Attack Nullification; Those with ki can nullify attacks of lesser ki with their ki alone. They can also catch and nullify ki attacks around their level through focusing enough[3]. Power Nullification; Through having greater ki, one can nullify the powers done through ki attacks, such as Frieza being able to nullify a hakai ball[4], which fully destroys a target[5], though he is unable to resist a hakai ball from Toppo due to him being stronger[6], this ability however only works on ki, attacks unrelated, characters cannot resist through being stronger, such as how Vegeta, Krillin, & Son Gohan are unable to resist Guldo's psychic powers, along with even the likes of Son Goku), Nullification (Attack Nullification; Those with ki can nullify attacks of lesser ki with their ki alone. They can also catch and nullify ki attacks around their level through focusing enough[7]. Power Nullification; Through having greater ki, one can nullify the powers done through ki attacks, such as Frieza being able to nullify a hakai ball[8], which fully destroys a target[9], though he is unable to resist a hakai ball from Toppo due to him being stronger[10], this ability however only works on ki, attacks unrelated, characters cannot resist through being stronger, such as how Vegeta, Krillin, & Son Gohan are unable to resist Guldo's psychic powers, along with even the likes of Son Goku), Light Manipulation (Ki can be used as a flash of light, Degisu seeing ki attacks be fired notes that the characters are "firing light from their hands"[11]), Binding (Energy Binding; Ki Users can use their ki to bind targets to objects, making them unable to escape even if they're of equal power[12], however, those stronger then the ki user can easily break out of it), Dreaming Existence (Characters in Shin Budokai have shown to create physical bodies in alternate timelines through dreaming), Non-Standard Interaction (Intangible Interaction; Those with ki can block intangible attacks when they focus and notices them[13]. Space-Time Interaction; Characters can blast space-time distortions to close them), Healing (Ki can be used to heal beings, allowing them to survive even with half their torso, it can also heal from near death), Fusionism (Gine can perform the Fusion Dance).

Limited Resistance to Durability Negation (Ki users can focus their energy to localize an object to a specific spot to stop them from attempting to destroy their organs/insides), Resistance to Poison Manipulation (Can resist poisons through Forcefield Creation[14])

Longevity (Saiyans can keep their youth until around 80 years old), Reactive Power Level (As a Saiyan, her power level will increase after a tough battle. A Saiyan’s power increases if they survive from injuries in battle, with their powers allowing them to greatly exceed their previous levels beforehand), Rage Power (Mere rage can amplify a saiyan to a level that's believed to be a myth even by the highest levels of Saiyans in the verse), Damage Boost (Saiyans attack power rises when health is low), Transformation (Transformative Arsenal; As a Saiyan, Gine can transform into a Great Ape as she has her tail).

Resistance to Radiation Manipulation (Saiyans are able to absorb up to 17 million zeno units per second of green-spectrum radiation in order to trigger the Great Ape transformation)
