* Although Model Z was frequently used by Vent/Aile in conjunction with Model X, neither Vent nor Aile were officially chosen by the Biometal. This is acknowledged by both characters, who consider Model Z a gift from a special person. | |||
* If Model O is not counted, Model Z is the only Biometal that creates two different weapons for the user when combined with Model X, with the ZX-Buster capable of turning into the ZX-Saber and vice-versa. This feature appears to be absent when Model Z alone is used by Giro, despite Zero's mastery of a buster in the ''Mega Man X'' and ''Mega Man Zero'' series. | |||
* When combined with Model X, Model Z causes the user to grow long blond hair. It is unknown if the same change occurs if only Model Z is used since the only one to do so was Girouette, who naturally had long blond hair to begin with. | |||
* The black visor from Model Z's transformed state is an unprecedented trait of Zero's design. The look of a visored swordsman is vaguely reminiscent of ProtoMan.EXE. | |||
** This calls the analogy of Mega Man and Mega Man X (blue main characters) to Proto Man and Zero (red partners, the former of which has a black visor) | |||
** Model ZX produces a helmet similar to the Zero series design, rather than a visor. | |||
* Girouette's corruption at Serpent's hands harkens to the repeated times Zero had been used for evil in the past. Girouette's eyes glow red through the visor, the same color as Omega's eyes. | |||

Background
Dr. Wily's magnum opus, Zero was one of the very first robot that later would be considered a reploid during 20XX, Wily had plans for him to surpass the likes of Proto Man, Bass and of course his main enemy, Mega Man. Unfortunately for Wily, Zero had a programming error that made him extremely aggressive, due to this, Wily forced himself to seal his masterpiece for over a century.
100 years later, Zero was awoken by a group of Maverick Hunters. once he woken up, he slayed the entire front of them without any problem, after that, he confronted the Maverick Hunter leader at the time, Sigma. Their battle was on equal and Sigma could fight off with Zero without worry, until Zero slashed his arm off and started to beat up Sigma. before Zero could finish him, a W sign appeared on his head, causing him extreme pain. Sigma took this opportunity and punched his gem on his head, knocking Zero and infecting Sigma with the Maverick Virus, which would result in him transforming into a malicious leader.
Zero was then brought to Dr. Cain at Sigma's request, who analyzed him. Upon awakening again, Zero became docile and had no memories of his previous actions. He was placed under Sigma's supervision. Zero did not show any more signs of Maverick behavior and, putting his impressive strength to good use, was enlisted into the Maverick Hunters' 17th Elite Unit where there he became the best friend of Dr. Light's final creation, X.
This dropdown contains the synopsis of Zero's story. Read at your own risk as there are major spoilers for the Mega Man X and Zero Series'! |

Note: Credit to Mega Man Knowledge Base AppearanceIn Zero's first appearance, his armor's design had a distinct red color with white highlights along his knees, toes, abdomen, and shoulders. One of his shoulders was emblazoned with a stylized "Z" insignia, and his helmet had extended face guards around his cheeks and curved ridges on top that resembled horns. His forehead was white with a deep blue lens on the front. He possessed two green lenses on his chest, arm guards on his wrists, and a flowing blond head of hair that extended from the back of his helmet. He also stood slightly taller than X. This version of Zero was apparently an incomplete prototype, since his upgraded design is shown in his blueprints in Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters. When Zero was reconstructed by Serges of the X-Hunters, his body received several upgrades that completed his design. His shoulders gained reinforced shoulder plates, along with improved arm guards, new dash thrusters and golden designs on his legs, and thicker chest armor. A small "backpack" device is also added as both storage and recharging unit for the Z-Saber. Like X, Zero's power source is solar energy. His body material is comprised of a Titanium Z alloy, and is equipped with peculiar mechanisms called the Z-Brain (the head lens) and the Z-Heart (the chest lens), which conceal an unknown power. In addition, Wily claimed that Zero was powered by a power source that was even stronger than Bassnium. When he was briefly disabled during his fight with Sigma, Zero manifested a "W" emblem in his forehead lens. PersonalityOutwardly, Zero is a somewhat cold individual, and a ruthless Maverick Hunter. He constantly keeps his cool, even in times of crisis. He is also very straightforward and down-to-earth, often sarcastically snapping back at the unpleasantries of Mavericks and destroying them without entertaining their philosophies or taunts. Despite this, Zero truly does have the capacity to care for others. He is very protective of his allies, such as X and the Maverick Hunters, going to great lengths to ensure their safety. He has a great distaste for the deaths of innocents. He will even disregard his own safety, sacrificing himself, to save others, such as during the battle with Vile in Mega Man X and willingly piloting the shuttle into the Eurasia colony in Mega Man X5. His care for others was detrimental during the Great Repliforce War, where he was forced to face his friends, Iris and Colonel, and their deaths at his hands caused him great emotional turmoil. Even though Zero does not openly show it, he too seems to long for peace between humans and Reploids. However, he has said that he doesn't have any problems fighting, unlike his more pacifistic friend, X. Zero initially acted as something like a mentor to X, understanding his latent potential and even helping him unleash it. As X grew stronger, Zero gained more respect for him, seeing him as an even greater Maverick Hunter than himself. Even then, he still remains a voice of reason who helps ground X and overcome his doubts. Zero again acted the mentor upon meeting Axl. Though their relationship was tenuous at first, due to Zero being exasperated by Axl's enthusiasm and criminal background, he came to respect him as well while still playfully teasing him. Zero's original persona, created by Dr. Wily, was much different. Instead, he was a violent and uncontrollable Maverick. He often made feral screams and laughed psychotically, and took great pleasure in tearing apart Sigma and his comrades. He briefly tapped back into this dark persona in the bad ending of Mega Man X5, just as misanthropic as before but with a degree more self-control. HistoryCreation and AwakeningZero was created by Dr. Albert Wily sometime in the early twenty-first century. Wily alluded to him during Bass's ending in Mega Man: The Power Battle, where he mentioned he was developing a robot that would blow away both Mega Man and Bass. Schematic blueprints of his body were seen during Bass's ending in Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters. Learning from his past mistakes, including the accidental creation of Bassnium and his construction of Bass and King, Wily constructed Zero as a far more advanced robot than anything he had ever built before, with a power level far superior using Proto Man as reference for Zero's design. He also presumably began to create the Maverick Virus around this time. Wily even dubbed Zero his "greatest masterpiece". However, Zero contained a flaw in his cognitive program that made him violent and unwilling to obey instructions. Because of this, Wily decided to seal him in a capsule. Decades later, in the early twenty-second century, his hiding place was found by a group of Reploids prior to the first Mega Man X game. Presumably, Zero's hiding place was within close proximity of the place where X was discovered. Once awakened by this group, Zero destroyed them, as well as any intruders who would dare enter Wily's lair. Labelled a Maverick (by the definition of being a threat to humans), Zero was later cornered by Maverick Hunters inside, and Zero destroyed Garma's unit. Not wanting to get any more comrades endangered by the mysterious Maverick, then-17th Elite Unit commander Sigma himself challenged Zero in a one-on-one battle. Even though Zero eventually gained the upper hand during the battle, Sigma was able to defeat the red Maverick after the gem on Zero's head began to glow with a 'W' symbol, apparently causing Zero great pain. Sigma punched the crystal, shattering it and defeating Zero. However, while in the facility Sigma was infected by Zero's Maverick Virus. Zero was then brought to Dr. Cain at Sigma's request, who analyzed him. Upon awakening again, Zero became docile and had no memories of his previous actions. He was placed under Sigma's supervision. Zero did not show any more signs of Maverick behavior and, putting his impressive strength to good use, was enlisted into the Maverick Hunters' 17th Elite Unit. Maverick Wars eraMega Man XAfter Sigma declared his Reploid rebellion on June 4, 21XX, Zero was made the de facto leader of the Maverick Hunters due to being the highest-ranked Hunter who hadn't joined Sigma at the time. Additionally, Zero was approached by Mega Man X, who sought to help fight the Maverick uprising despite not being a Maverick Hunter. Zero allowed X to join him on the battlefield. While fighting Mavericks on the Highway, Zero discovered that X was at the mercy of Vile and came to his rescue, blasting the arm off Vile's Ride Armor. Zero threatened to finish Vile off, forcing him to flee aboard the Death Rogumer. X lamented his inability to defeat Vile, but Zero assured him that he needed time to grow and that he could one day become as powerful as himself. He then ordered X to continue fighting Sigma's rebellion around the world, while he performed reconnaissance in order to find Sigma's new fortress. Once X had defeated the eight former Maverick Hunters, Zero announced that he had discovered Sigma's hideout and that he was ready to storm it whenever X was. The two then rendezvoused at the floating fortress' launch site, with Zero taking the brunt of the fire while X found a safer way into the base behind him. Once in the fortress, the pair encountered Vile; worried about X, Zero decided to take him on alone. However, he was overpowered by Vile's new Ride Armor and placed in a cage. When X entered the room, Zero encouraged X to fight Vile, but the rookie Hunter was defeated. Desperate, Zero mustered the last of his power and broke out of his cage, overloading his Z-Buster on the back of the Ride Armor to destroy it - however, he gravely wounded himself in the process. Zero laid on the ground, bisected at the waist, until X finally destroyed Vile and rushed to his side. Zero admitted that he wouldn't survive his injuries, and encouraged X to go finish off Sigma in his stead. Additionally, if X hadn't found the Arm Parts, he would give him his own Z-Buster in its place. Mega Man: Maverick Hunter XZero's role in the remake's Maverick Hunter X continuity remains mostly unchanged. Because X is already a B-Class Hunter at the beginning of the story, the two are much more familiar with each other. Zero also appears as a boss alongside X in the non-canon Vile Mode, and he plays a large role in the included OVA The Day of Σ. Mega Man X2After Sigma's defeat, the Hunters tried to salvage whatever remained of Zero from the sunken fortress and found Zero's control chip, which had miraculously survived the destruction of his body. However, the Hunters were incapable of creating a new body for Zero because they were unable to replicate his unique body structure. Six months later, three new Maverick leaders known as the X-Hunters contacted the Maverick Hunters, claiming to be in possession of three rebuilt fragments of Zero's body. Although the American translation fails to reveal how the X-Hunters obtained the parts, the Japanese version elaborates that Serges made them, as they were additions that had been previously planned by Dr. Wily (including his Z-Saber). The X-Hunters challenged X to a series of duels over Zero's parts - if X fails to defeat them all, they eventually storm Hunter Base and steal Zero's control chip by force. The next time Zero appears can change based on the player's actions:
Either way, Zero orders X to go after Sigma while he destroys the Central Computer, punching a hole in the floor to help X along. By the time X defeats the Sigma Virus, Zero causes the Central Computer to start detonating. Before disappearing, Sigma expresses confusion as to why Zero did not become his servant, mentioning that he is "the last of the Doctor's creations." Afterwards, X and Zero meet up on a cliff by the sea to reminisce about the game's events. Mega Man XtremeAfter X escaped the digitized version of the Highway, Zero informed him that Mavericks had hacked the Maverick Hunters' Mother Computer, stealing and corrupting data and allowing other Mavericks to run wild. While X was digitized again and sent back into the Mother Computer to shut the computer down, Zero handled the Maverick attacks in the real world. Also, later during the game, X can find four capsules known as Zero Scrambles, which allow him to "summon" Zero to perform an attack or move. However, this was only combat data of Zero and not the real one. Mega Man X3
After defending Hunter Base, Zero and X return to Dopple Town to fight Doppler's Maverick army. From here, X can call Zero to swap out anytime by pressing the R-button in the Start menu; however, playing as Zero adheres to a certain set of rules. He is only able to maneuver through regular parts of the stage and will automatically be replaced by X upon reaching a gate before a boss or sub-boss room. Additionally, if the player dies even once while playing as Zero, he will be damaged and become unusable for the rest of the game. Regardless of whether or not Zero has been damaged, he will automatically appear in Doppler Stage A to assist X with the sub-boss REX-2000. He helps X by destroying the mechanism lowering the ceiling before departing. Later, if Zero is used to fight the optional sub-boss Mosquitus in the Doppler Stage B (available by destroying Vile with his weakness in his secret stage beforehand), Zero will be damaged when the Mechaniloid crashes into him and explodes. He will then lend his Z-Saber to X while he returns to Hunter Base for repairs. If Zero is taken out of commission by Mosquitus, he will not reappear to help with the REX-2000 fight on future visits. After X defeats Sigma below Doppler's Lab, the Sigma Virus attempts to possess him. However, if Zero is still available, he will appear with Dr. Doppler's vaccine integrated into his Z-Saber and slash Sigma with it (if not, then a reformed Dr. Doppler will use the vaccine instead). This apparently neutralizes the Sigma Virus, allowing the two Hunters to escape the lab safely. Zero and X then stand atop a cliff outside the base, where X can't shake the feeling that one day he will have fight Zero for the sake of humanity. Mega Man Xtreme 2Zero and X are deployed to Laguz Island to investigate the mysterious Erasure phenomenon, discovering that it was perpetrated by the Soul Erasers: Berkana and Gareth. The two split up to take on the island's eight Maverick guardians before finally confronting the Soul Erasers again. They split up once more, with Zero going after Gareth while X fights Berkana. Both are successful in their respective missions, but they discover that Berkana had secretly aided in the resurrection of Sigma. Zero and X then put down Sigma together, in the process returning the souls of all the Reploids who suffered from Erasure. The mission at Laguz Island was also the first official mission where Iris, Zero's love interest, acted as his and X's operator. Zero worried that her brother, Colonel from Repliforce, would be angry with him for putting her through such a difficult operation. Mega Man X4This game marks the first time Zero is a fully playable character, even possessing his own story separate from X's. His gameplay has also been reworked, making use of the Z-Saber instead of the Z-Buster and learning special techniques instead of Special Weapons. In Zero's story, he first encountered his mysterious creator within his dreams, who cryptically ordered him to fulfill his destiny by destroying his nemesis. When Zero awakened from the nightmare, he was immediately dispatched to the flying city Sky Lagoon, which had been attacked by Mavericks. Zero ran into Magma Dragoon during the mission, but was forced to retreat as the city fell to the Earth. He then returned to investigate the crash site, discovering that Iris had been caught up in the attack. He defended her from the giant Maverick Eregion, until Colonel suddenly appeared. Zero requested that Colonel disarm himself and his Repliforce men for questioning, suspicious of Repliforce's involvement in the incident, but Colonel refused and instead turned his back on Zero. Shortly afterwards, Repliforce would announce their coup d'état, resulting in the Great Repliforce War breaking out. Despite his concerns about what Colonel would think, Zero was pleased to find Iris assisting him as an operator from Hunter Base, like during the Erasure incident. Iris didn't want Zero and Colonel to fight, torn between her care for Zero and her love for her own brother. Zero appreciated her concern, and with her help began fighting to stop Repliforce's plans. While doing so, he also faced several non-Repliforce-affiliated Mavericks who claimed allegiance to another power, such as the traitorous Magma Dragoon. Eventually, Colonel challenged Zero to a duel at Repliforce's Memorial Hall; Iris begged Zero not to accept the call, but he did anyway, determined to put an end to the conflict. The two Reploids began their battle, but Iris appeared and pled with Colonel to stop, since Zero had saved her life after the Sky Lagoon's crash. Colonel, who had always regarded Zero as a friendly rival, backed off. Frustrated, Zero stated that someone had to stop Repliforce, much to Iris' grief. When Repliforce's plan was finally put into motion, Zero rushed to the Space Port to stop the ascension of Repliforce to the newly constructed space station, Final Weapon. There Zero battled Colonel, this time not holding anything back, and regrettably destroyed him in the process. After that, he traveled to the Final Weapon where he was, much to his surprise and horror, confronted by Iris. Holding Colonel's control chip, she was now blinded by her grief for her brother and anger that Zero killed him. She then fused with Colonel's chip, resulting in the creation of a large Ride Armor-like combat form which attacked Zero. Even though he didn't mean to, Zero damaged the exterior power core of the structure, resulting in the destruction of the armor and Iris within. He hurried to Iris' body, but it was too late to save her. Whispering to Zero that she wished to live with Zero in a world of only Reploids, she died in his arms. Zero, who was totally overthrown by the pain, began questioning his own reasons for fighting and the means of his own existence. Filled with anger, he confronted General, the highest leader of Repliforce, defeating him in battle. Upon the end of the fight, General realized that someone had taken control of Final Weapon, aiming its main cannon at Earth. Zero rushed to the Final Weapon's control center, only to find Sigma waiting for him. Amused that he didn't remember, Sigma told Zero the story of the day they fought in Dr. Wily's laboratory, and thanked him for giving him the Maverick Virus and allowing him to become Maverick in the first place. Zero then battled and defeated Sigma; General thanked Zero for his help and proceeded to sacrifice himself to stop the Final Weapon. Zero escaped the destruction of the Final Weapon in a small shuttle. He pondered his own inability to protect those he cared for. He had killed his own friend Colonel, the General, and Repliforce with him, who in the end has only been manipulated by Sigma and the Mavericks. Most of all, he lost Iris, who he had cared about for so long. Questioning whether or not Reploids were destined to become Mavericks after all, he returned to Earth. Zero also briefly appears in the ending of X's story. X calls Zero and makes him promise to destroy him if he ever goes Maverick, but Zero finds the proposition confusing. Upon realizing how serious X is about the promise, he agrees, and X ponders their inevitable confrontation. Mega Man X5When Zero is chosen first by the player, he is deployed to hunt down Sigma, who suddenly reappeared in the midst of a city and caused a Maverick riot. He is able to defeat Sigma with surprising ease, revealing that it was a trap; the resulting explosion spreads a payload of the Sigma Virus across the globe. To make matters worse, the space colony Eurasia is set to impact the Earth as well, coated in yet another load of virus, thanks to Sigma's hired mercenary Dynamo. The combination of perils threatens to irreversibly damage the entire planet. The Maverick Hunters quickly come up with a plan to repel the Eurasia colony, using two options: the outdated Enigma cannon and a Space Shuttle outfitted with explosives (Zero would pilot the latter plan, due to being the best spacecraft pilot left in the Hunters). In order to get them in working condition, Zero and X are tasked with collecting the parts necessary - however, the spread of the Sigma Virus makes their potential business partners hostile and dangerous, leading to many battles. Additionally, the two are challenged to duels by Dynamo twice in an effort to hinder their progress. From here, there are several possible outcomes:
Either way, X and Zero enter Zero Space to pursue Sigma, who has hidden inside of it (if Zero has gone Maverick, then he hides there himself). Before reaching Sigma, however, X and Zero are forced to battle one another. There are several possible reasons why:
Either way, Zero and X fight, resulting in a standstill where both lay exhausted on the ground. Sigma appears, pleased with the outcome, and Zero jumps to X's defense to repel Sigma, who departs to patiently await their inevitable confrontation. Once the two recuperate, they team up again and put their conflict behind themselves to stop Sigma, hopefully once and for all (if Zero went Maverick, he remains unconscious while X continues to fight Sigma alone). When Zero confronts Sigma, the latter reveals that he met an "old man" who knew a lot about Zero (implied to be some form of Dr. Wily). This man helped create his newest battle body, which he uses to attack. Zero (or X) defeats him, but the explosion badly damages Zero, leaving him ruined on the ground. There are three possible endings from this path:
Mega Man X6A few weeks after the Eurasia incident, Reploid scientist Gate found a small piece of Zero's body near the crash site. Using the information he gathered about the Sigma Virus and Zero's DNA, Gate went mad and created the Nightmare Phenomenon, a discolored clone of Zero called the Zero Nightmare, and the near-invulnerable Reploid High Max. This resulted in a worldwide fascination with the Nightmare, and as the investigation began, its leader Isoc blamed the "ghost of Zero" for it. After being met with this news, X took the assault on Zero's reputation personally and set out to investigate as well. However, unbeknownst to anyone, Zero had been secretly making a miraculous recovery this entire time. Once X destroys the Zero Nightmare in one of the secret areas, the real Zero reveals himself and X is reunited with his friend, mysteriously repaired and carrying a brand new Z-Saber. Together, X and Zero set out to defeat Gate together and put a stop to the Nightmare Phenomenon. Who or what exactly repaired Zero after his apparent death in the Eurasia crisis was never directly stated. In the Weapon Center, the Dr. Light capsule hologram denied knowing who repaired him. It should be noted that the reunion between X and Zero had Zero stating that he laid low until he "fully recovered from the damage." In the English translation, Zero told X that he repaired himself. Depending on when Zero is unlocked, he can assist X in fighting the eight Nightmare Investigators. It is also possible for him to defeat High Max, which results in a confrontation with Isoc. The scientist is elated by Zero's power and encourages him to become even stronger, using a mysterious energy field to defend himself before fleeing the scene. Later, when storming Gate's laboratory, Zero can also come across the body of Isoc, whose soul has left his body. Zero then hears a mysterious voice calling him the "ultimate robot" but he brushes it off and leaves to pursue the reborn Sigma. In X's ending, Zero is seen lamenting the unfortunate death of Gate and promising to build a utopia with the rest of the Hunters. Meanwhile, Zero's personal ending helps reconcile the storyline between the X and Zero games. It shows Zero being sealed to remove a component from his body (presumably something having to do with the Maverick Virus or his original evil nature). This was originally going to show that the X series had ended after X6 in order to make way for the Zero series, but since the X series evidently continued past this point, this scene was retconned to take place in an unspecified time period beyond the final X series game. Alternatively, it is possible to clear Mega Man X6 without X ever finding Zero. In this event, cutscenes show that Zero is indeed alive, but X and the other Maverick Hunters never find him. Zero leaves on his own, stating that there's something he needs to take care of (presumably eliminating the Zero Nightmare). This ending is non-canon. Mega Man X7Once X retires to pursue peaceful means to end Maverick conflict, Zero takes up the bulk of the Maverick Hunters' workload. Unfortunately, the world finally being repaired after the Eurasia incident means surges in Maverick crime are more common than ever, leaving the Hunters overwhelmed. This leads to the formation of Red Alert, an illegal Maverick-hunting syndicate led by the vigilante Red. When Axl flees from Red Alert and is pursued into the city by Mechaniloids, Zero heads out to put a stop to the chaos. He first meets Axl on the highway, helping him destroy his Mega Scorpio pursuer before arresting him and taking him into Hunter Base for questioning. After hearing Axl's story, the Hunters are contacted by Red, who challenges them to a Maverick hunting duel over custody of Axl. At first Zero doesn't want to get involved, and is especially befuddled when Axl insists on joining him in the field, but decides to give the young Reploid a chance to fix the mess he helped start. As Zero and Axl fight the eight members of Red Alert, Zero gets to hear about Axl's backstory and how Red Alert had changed for the worse recently, which is why he quit in the first place. If he speaks with Wind Crowrang, he also learns that someone affiliated with Red Alert is interested in studying his capabilities. When X finally decides to come out of retirement and help in the fight, Zero is relieved to see his old friend back in action. Upon defeating the eight members of Red Alert, Zero and the others are sent to the Crimson Palace to face Red. When Red resigns to his fate and stays behind in a self-destructing room, Zero is forced to hold Axl back lest he rush in and die too. The trio soon learns that Sigma is indeed behind Red Alert's Maverick actions, which Zero finds unsurprising. Sigma boasts that he will make Zero and X his servants before attacking them, but they defeat both his forms. In the aftermath, it seems as though Red has returned as he knocks down Zero and moves to give Sigma his body, but it is revealed to simply be Axl in disguise and he deals the finishing blow on Sigma. Zero is impressed by Axl's reckless tactic paying off. In Zero's ending, he has a chilling nightmare of X (or a similar individual) on a murderous Maverick-hunting spree. Mega Man X8Some time later, it is shown that Axl has become an official Maverick Hunter who often works with Zero and X in the field. The trio are deployed to Noah's Park to deal with the Maverick Mechaniloid Crabs-Y, and upon finishing it off they run into Vile again. Vile informs them that Mavericks have taken over the Jakob Project as he kidnaps its director, Lumine. As the Hunters fight to suppress the Maverick uprising perpetrated by the New Generation Reploids, Zero learns that many of them admire his strength but deride him for being an outdated model who works with the Maverick Hunters. He also meets Layer, a new navigator who has a crush on him that he doesn't openly reciprocate, keeping the relationship professional. Upon learning that Sigma is involved in the incident yet again, Zero's memories from the Eurasia crisis return to haunt him. After defeating the eight Mavericks, Zero and the Hunters travel to the Moon to face Sigma in his fortress. There Sigma confirms that Zero was indeed the original carrier of the Maverick Virus before challenging him to battle. The Hunters destroy Sigma, reducing him to scrap, but Lumine suddenly appears and reveals that he was using Sigma to hasten the evolution of New Generation Reploids. Zero and the others then defeat Lumine. However, Axl is struck in the head by a tentacle when he approaches Lumine's dormant body, forcing Zero to intervene by slashing the tentacle while X destroys Lumine. While travelling back to Earth via the Jakob elevator, Zero stands in the shadows while X carries Axl's comatose body. Noticing that something weighed heavy on X's mind, Zero approaches him and assures him that no matter what Lumine said about the destiny of Reploids, they would have to keep fighting no matter what. Elf Wars and Z-EraAppearanceZero still sports a red color scheme, although slightly brighter than his previous body, and retains his long blond hair. Besides those key features, Zero was given a design overhaul between the Mega Man X and Mega Man Zero series. His armor is lighter and more humanoid, and he's given a more streamlined helmet, with a sharp blue crystal at the front, to present a much sleeker look. PersonalityGiven that he's been in stasis and lost his memory, Zero is ignorant of some matters and confused about others, sometimes to the point he starts doubting or believing that he can't win. This is seen a couple of times. First when Ciel was captured by a Golem and Zero was battling with the Buster Shot, which was not doing too much damage. He was slowly starting to lose hope until X gave him his Z-Saber back. Another example was when Dr. Weil told him he was a copy, causing him to believe he was not the real Zero. He only gained his confidence back when X claimed he was indeed Zero in spirit, swapping roles so that X is the one that encourages Zero to fight instead of the other way around as it used to be during the X series. Probably due to his amnesia, Zero became a much quieter and distant character, especially in the first game. He rarely prolongs a conversation and provides only quick answers. He keeps his expression serious throughout the series, rarely showing any other kind of emotion, now no longer smiling at all. His moral code also seems to have changed between the series. Although he was a heroic and proud Maverick Hunter in the X series, he became a soldier who will do whatever it takes to accomplish his missions in the Zero series. This includes questionable methods, from sacrificing the lives of Cyber-elves to gaining more advantages in missions, killing brainwashed soldiers and killing the Baby Elves without seeking an alternative solution. Although the first two are completely optional, the third isn't, though he did it in self-defense. He claims that he no longer cares about being considered a "hero", and that he just fights to protect what he cares about. He goes far enough to not restrain himself from the possibility of killing a human, a taboo that any other protagonist of the franchise wouldn't have the courage to break (though that being said, the circumstances involved left him with no other choice as Ragnarok would have destroyed Area Zero otherwise). This act properly classifies him as an anti-hero, with Zero himself admitting in the fourth game that he has never seen himself as a hero, although it's unknown if this was his thinking in the X series or if it's the consequences of his amnesia and new experience in the Zero series. There was one thing that Zero seems to have maintained; his respect and admiration for his old partner, X. After defeating Copy X in the first game, he noted that despite his memory loss, he remembered the original X as being a true hero (and in the Ciel's Memory radio drama, even explained how X originally was a coward and prone to worrying too much, and that him ultimately overcoming these bits was what made him a hero). Character HistoryThe Elf WarsAt some unknown point, Zero realized that he carried a virus inside him and may even be continuing to spread it all over the world during his missions as a Maverick Hunter. Thinking that the world wouldn't be safe as long as he was still active, Zero admitted himself into a research institute in order to get rid of the virus within him. At the same time, a project was started to analyze Zero as it had been revealed previously (during the Eurasia crisis to be exact), that Zero actually reacted positively to the Sigma Virus, and therefore might hold anti-bodies for the infection. Zero was sealed away and brought to a government lab. At some point, Zero's mind was extracted from the body, possibly for security measures in case something would go wrong while researching it. For an unknown amount of time, Zero's body was studied by government researchers. One of them, an unnamed female ancestor of Ciel, managed to create the "Sigma Antibody Program", a Cyber-elf capable of reverting the devastated programming of infected Mavericks and therefore destroying the virus completely. This Cyber-elf was the Mother Elf. However, weapon researcher and DNA revival specialist Dr. Weil, who also worked in the lab, planned a different way of dealing with the Mavericks, as he was unsatisfied with the result. Weil started a conflict that would ultimately cost the lives of 90% of all Reploids and 60% of all humans. This four-year-long period of war was later dubbed the "Elf Wars". Thinking that it wasn't enough to simply cure the Reploids from the virus while they still posed a threat to society due to their free will, Weil decided to create his own, radical solution, while making himself ruler of the world in the process. Project Elpis was the end result: to create a Reploid who would become the perfect ruler, by using the power of the Mother Elf to control all the Reploids in the world, thus preventing them becoming Mavericks in the first place. However, since the world was at peace at the moment thanks to the Mother Elf, he needed to give the government a reason to sanction Project Elpis. He secretly stole the Mother Elf and reprogrammed her into the Dark Elf, whose purpose was to create Maverick outbreaks by brainwashing Reploids. Baby Elves, small copies of the Dark Elf, were mass-produced to cause violent Maverick outbreaks worldwide. As new Mavericks arose and caused terror and destruction in scales never seen before, the government heeded Dr. Weil's pleas and sanctioned Project Elpis to bring this new and devastating conflict to an end. For the project he was given Zero's body, which possessed the necessary virus countermeasures for creating the perfect ruler, Omega, the messiah of Dr. Weil. For Omega to control all Reploids worldwide with the Mother Elf, a massive armor was constructed around Omega for the Mother Elf to fuse with it. In addition the armor also boosted Zero's body to its absolute limits and granted it the ability to regenerate any damage. Along with the armor, Omega received new weapons, suitable for his new size and weight. Unknown to everyone Omega received a new personality, which was absolutely loyal to Dr. Weil's orders. With Omega completed by fusing it with the Dark Elf, the baby elves would be redundant as they were no longer needed. In the fourth (and what would be the last) year of the war, Zero, in possession of a new body created for him, would wake up so he could fight alongside X against the new threat. At some point during the conflict, which were now known as the Elf Wars, Zero reclaimed the Dark Elf from the Mavericks and used her to bring the uprisings to a end. It was then where Weil revealed his true colors and ordered Omega and a group of Mechaniloids, similar to Neo Arcadia's later Golem models, to attack his former allies. However, because Zero reclaimed the Dark Elf in time, Omega was unable to fuse with the Dark Elf. He was defeated after a hard battle by X and Zero using the Final Strike. After the war had ended, Zero decided to seal himself away again, this time, forever. Though X tried desperately to stop his friend, the sealing process had already begun when X arrived, and could not be stopped. Before he lost consciousness, Zero told X that, as long as he was still around, the bloody history would repeat itself over and over again. Before the seal was complete, he encouraged X that this was the right way and that he wanted to believe in humankind, just as X believed in them. With these final words, Zero's seal was complete. Mega Man Zero seriesMega Man ZeroAt the beginning of the game, Zero was discovered in suspended animation in an abandoned laboratory by a human scientist named Ciel, who leads a Reploid Resistance. Ciel used the Cyber-elf Passy to revive Zero, who in turn saves Ciel from the forces of Neo Arcadia that was pursuing her and her comrades. Zero, however, was suffering memory loss due to "hibernation sickness". As it turned out, Neo Arcadia was the government of the world at this time period. Reploids were discriminated against and often deemed Maverick and terminated without justifiable cause. Copy X, a ruthless, conceited copy of the real X, was in charge of this policy. Zero agreed to join Ciel's cause in fighting this oppression of Reploids. Zero would then go on to defeat Copy X's Four Guardians as well as destroying Copy X himself. After the battle with Copy X, Zero was declared missing by the Resistance, after the Neo Arcadia Core was destroyed. In truth, Zero survived the explosion, and was traveling in the desert, continuing to fight the Neo Arcadia forces that set their sights on him. Mega Man Zero 2One year later, Zero is still traversing the harsh desert, and still hunted by Neo Arcadia. After another battle with the Neo Arcadian Forces, Zero finally succumbs to his injuries and exhaustion, and collapses. When he wakes up, he is now in the New Resistance Base, brought there by unknown means (later revealed to be Sage Harpuia's doing), and meets the new members, including a new commander, Elpizo. Ciel showed Zero her research on energy, the former thinking that it will give Neo Arcadia a reason not to fight them anymore. Zero tried to hold off Elpizo's Operation Righteous Strike long enough for Ciel to finish her research, but in the end Elpizo still continued his plans, and Zero had to rescue him from the Four Guardians. Although Elpizo survived, he was driven to madness by the defeat, and Zero had to spend the larger half of the game trying to find him. During the game, Zero also learned of what had happened before his sealing; the Mavericks were defeated, but some time after the Elf Wars broke out, Zero himself helped X to end them by defeating and banishing Omega, the most terrifying "Reploid" of the time. Several decades after Zero was sealed, X sacrificed his body to stop the worst Cyber-elf of all, the Dark Elf, leaving him in a more ethereal form. X's body is destroyed and the Dark Elf is released by the now-rogue Elpizo. Zero defeats Elpizo, but the Dark Elf escapes. She and Zero appear to know each other, and X informs Zero that the Dark Elf was not always known by her current name. Her powers became a threat due to a curse by Dr. Weil, the man who started the Elf Wars, at which point people began calling her the Dark Elf. Mega Man Zero 3During the two-month gap between the third and second game, there has apparently been a truce between Neo Arcadia and the Resistance. Ciel, having finished her energy research by creating the "Ciel System", submitted a sample of her work to Neo Arcadia, hoping to open up the chance for peace talks. In the meantime, Zero and Ciel lead a small group through a snowy mountain, as while they were trying to locate the Dark Elf (presumably to end her curse), they found another energy signature resembling the Dark Elf located there. Upon arrival at the origin of the signal, they discover an immense ship. The Neo Arcadians had roped off the ship, so Zero decides to get a closer look by sneaking in. However, upon arrival, Ciel and the rest of the group was discovered by the Neo Arcadians. They didn't seem to be harmed though, thus confusing Zero. Harpuia then appears and says that he's letting them off the hook, as there's "bigger fish to fry". After Harpuia leaves, and Zero tries to figure out who the Dark Elf is and why she seemed familiar, Zero then hears a monstrous voice calling him. Upon arriving at the interior of the ship, Zero discovers that Fefnir and Leviathan, as well as their entire unit, was soundly defeated by an immense figure: Omega, the Devil Reploid. Zero then realizes that Omega was the one who called him, and they fight. Zero seems to defeat Omega and cause grievous damage, but then Omega started regenerating the wound. Harpuia then cuts in and is about to deliver the coup de grace when a mysterious man, Dr. Weil, tells Omega that he is to serve Harpuia as an ally. Copy X MK II then appears and announces that he revoked Dr. Weil's exile. Weil, Copy X, Harpuia, and Omega then depart after some discussion, although not before Weil cryptically remarks that he's interested in how well Zero will do "in that body of his." After a few missions, Zero and the Resistance then learn that Neo Arcadia is planning to launch a missile containing Omega into Area Z-3079, a human residential area to capture the Dark Elf. Zero infiltrates the Missile Facility and divert the missile, however, he wasn't able to stop the launch. Not wanting to just let Neo Arcadia destroy a human population just to acquire the Dark Elf, he boards the missile to destroy Omega before it arrives at its destination. Unfortunately, Dr. Weil had anticipated Zero's actions, so he had placed Crea and Prea on guard duty of Omega's chamber long before the launch. While he may have defeated them, they still bought the Omega Missile enough time to reach its target. Zero barely escapes the impact of the missile, and wakes up to see Omega absorbing the Dark Elf, and transforming. Harpuia, having been retired from his position of Neo Arcadia's military force, then attacks Omega in a last ditch effort to stop Weil and Omega, and protect humanity, even if it meant going against Copy X. Unfortunately, thanks to Omega's absorbing the Dark Elf, Harpuia's attacks are ineffective. Zero manages to save Harpuia and himself at the last second by telling the Resistance to transport them back. Neo Arcadia then contacts the Resistance base, with Copy X saying they'll call a truce under the condition that they hand over the Ciel system. However, Ciel and the Resistance declines, as she doesn't trust them due to them destroying a human settlement just to get the Dark Elf. Their refusal results in an invasion with three units coming from the desert, the forest, and the Antarctic to attack the Resistance Base. Zero manages to take down the invasion, destroying the newly resurrected Hanumachine, Anubis Necromancess, and Blizzack Staggroff. Afterwards, Zero infiltrates the main base of Neo Arcadia to stop the invasion once and for all. Zero fights against Copy X Mark II after a debate about how things should be done. After the battle, the original X approaches Copy X and reveals that Omega and Dr. Weil had used him to gain more power, and abandoned him. Copy X then attempts to transform into his second form, despite X's warnings about a device implanted into him, and is destroyed as a result. Dr. Weil then announces X's death to Neo Arcadia, claiming it to be the work of the Resistance, and evokes Ordinance 8 in order to become its new ruler. Zero and X then decide to go their separate ways, although not before X cryptically informed Zero that it "was the heart that matters, not the body." After a few more missions and collecting data, Zero learns from Ciel that Dr. Weil is planning on re-enacting the Elf Wars. Unfortunately, Dr. Weil and Omega then take control of all the Reploids on the planet once more. X, however, uses his powers to protect the Reploids in the Resistance Base from Weil's control. Zero sets off to stop Weil, tracking him down to his secret laboratory, which incidentally, was close to where Zero was found at the beginning of the series. Zero is confronted by Omega, and the two do battle. After defeating two of Omega's forms, Zero lands with Omega's remains in the very room which he was sealed in. Weil then reveals that Zero is a fake, and that Omega is in fact the "real" Zero, and Zero's original body breaks out of the shell that was Omega's previous form. Zero, however, still defeats Omega Zero after an intense duel. When Weil attempts to heal Omega of his wounds with the Dark Elf, the remaining 3 Guardians appear and attack Omega. X himself appears alongside the Guardians, and told Zero of Weil's deception: that Omega may be using Zero's original body, but the "fake" Zero still has his real soul. So, regardless of Omega using his original body, Zero destroys him (presumably) once and for all, although Weil escapes. The Dark Elf, now free of her curse and called Mother Elf once more, saves Zero from Omega's explosion and takes him back to the Resistance Base before she roams free. However, X cannot roam in the real world any longer. Before X goes away, he supplies Zero with his memories of both the conclusion of the Elf Wars as well as Zero's encapsulation, and also tells an unconscious Zero to always protect peace between Reploids and humans, a promise Zero keeps up to heart in the next game. Mega Man Zero 4Eight months after the destruction of Omega, Neo Arcadia remained under Weil's control. After Weil began to terminate humans who opposed him, several groups of humans escaped the city that used to be their utopia. When the Resistance received knowledge of this, they immediately dispatched a team to assist and protect the refugees. Zero, along with Ciel and a few other Resistance members, intercepted an assault team of Weil's Variants (soldiers which had replaced the Pantheons) that attacked a refugee truck Caravan. After countering the attack, Zero and Ciel met Neige, a human journalist who tried everything possible to both bring all people safely to their new refuge, Area Zero - the sight of the destroyed Eurasia space colony -, and to find out the whole truth about Weil. The Variant attack, however, was just the beginning. Zero, while investigating Area Zero, encounters Craft and the Einherjar Eight Warriors, who all serve directly under Dr. Weil. Craft tells Zero of Operation Ragnarok, a plan to destroy all inhabitable areas outside Neo Arcadia so no one can escape Dr. Weil's rule. Zero defeats four of the Einherjar one by one, then repels an attack on Area Zero by Craft himself. The latter's objective was to kidnap Neige, who was an old friend of his. Zero rescues Neige from the prison Craft took her to, but not before Neige managed to push a little of her ideals back into her old friend. When the rest of the Einherjar Warriors are eliminated, Craft revolts against Weil and commandeers the "Ragnarok" space station, threatening to obliterate Neo Arcadia with the station's laser cannon. The Resistance immediately commences the evacuation of the city while Zero storms the space station. Despite his efforts, Zero is too late and Craft opens fire, destroying the city. Zero then engages Craft in combat and defeats him. Mortally wounded, Craft asks Zero why he continues to fight for the humans that feared him and all Reploids. Zero replies that he was obligated by a promise he had made to a friend and their faith in the human race. Realizing what he's done, Craft asks Zero to continue living up to that promise, before shutting down for good. All is not well, however. A second laser fired from Ragnarok alerted everyone that it was still operational, and that the station is now falling down to Earth. After going through Ragnarok's defenses to reach the core, Zero discovers Weil waiting for him. Having actually survived Ragnarok's laser fire, Weil teleported into the space station after the blast, maneuvering it to crash into Area Zero. After the first of their two battles, the space station is damaged. Ciel pleads for Zero to return to Earth, lest he get stranded due to increasing transporter interference. Seeing Weil is still alive, however, Zero passes the offer to go back and proceeds to finish him off once and for all in their second battle, ultimately sacrificing himself as the destruction of Weil's last form causes the station to explode. Zero's sacrifice opens the eyes of many, finally bringing peace between the Reploids and humans left on Earth. The aftermath, however, leaves his friends grieving at his apparent death (his actual fate remains uncertain), especially Ciel, who is later inspired to continue her work to create harmony between Reploids and humans. |

- Z-Saber: The Z-Saber (ゼットセイバー Zetto Seibā), also written as Z Saber and Z-Sabre, is Zero's main weapon to slice through his opponents in half. It is a powerful saber with a green (blue in some artworks from the Mega Man X series) energy blade. Zero receives the weapon in Mega Man X2 after he was remodeled by the X-Hunters, and has appeared in every chronological game since. Zero performs most of his techniques with the Z-Saber, his most recurring techniques being a rising slash, a downward stab, a dashing thrust or slash, and a rolling slash.
- Z-Buster: Similar to the X-Buster, the Zero Buster (Z-Buster for short) is a chargeable cannon embedded in Zero's arm(s). It can fire regular shots as well as Charge attacks. Similar to the Buster Upgrade of X's armor from Mega Man X2, Zero's Z-Busters can be linked to each other to fire two Charge Shots one after the other; however, they do not combine. When Zero became a fully playable character in Mega Man X4, his Z-Buster was completely removed due to game balancing, but it was re-introduced in Mega Man X5; in this game, it was only available if the game was started with Zero. However, its usage was stripped down drastically.
- V-Hanger: The V-Hanger is obtained after defeating Wind Crowrang in Mega Man X7. It is a set of two purple-bladed beam daggers. Besides allowing Zero to use Souenbu by throwing boomerangs, the V-Hanger allows him to do a fast five-slash combo. The attack reach of the daggers are half as long as the regular Z-Saber.
- D-Glaive: Also known as the Durga Glaive, this is a pole weapon that allows for longer-ranged attacks. It appears in both Mega Man X7, gained after defeating Splash Warfly, and Mega Man X8, where it can be constructed from a Rare Metal found in Dark Mantis' stage. The version in X7 is slow and just noticeably longer than the Z-Saber, but allows for the special move Suiretsusen. In X8 it can be spun over Zero's head to strike repeatedly, and its range has been greatly extended to two-and-a-half times that of the Z-Saber.
- B Fan: Also known as the Bashou Fan (『芭蕉ファン "Banana Fan"), this is a pair of fans offering high attack and defense capabilities. Zero can stand still with this weapon that creates an energy shield around him that can deflect low-damage projectile shots. It appears in Mega Man X8. Learning the Rekkyodan technique will power-up the fans, allowing them to reflect shots back at the enemies by hitting them with the weapon.
- T Breaker: this is a super-powerful heavy hammer that can break through enemies' barriers. Using Juuhazan with this weapon can even destroy some obstacles & platforms. It appears in Mega Man X8. However, this weapon is capable of only one slow slamming attack. The reach of this weapon is the same as the Z-Saber.
- K Knuckle: Also known as the Kaiser Knuckle, this is a pair of brass knuckles that appear in Mega Man X8. Equipping them grants Zero access to the special techniques used by Ryu and Ken from the Street Fighter series. The weapon's range is almost non-existent as Zero has to come up close to attack enemies making it easier to get hit, however the attack power is the same as T Breaker. The main flaw of the K Knuckle is that it cannot break through enemy barriers due to it lacking the three hit combo ability for Zero to brZero's signature weapon, the Z-sabereak through enemy barriers.
- Σ Blade: The Σ Blade is the weapon Sigma uses in Mega Man X8, and it can be obtained by either completing the game, or by entering a code on the title screen and then buying it in the R&D Lab. It is a giant sword with legendary attack power, and it can easily break enemies' barriers. In addition, equipping this weapon will reduce special weapon energy usage by half automatically.

- Z-Saber: Zero's Z-Saber has been redesigned and reconfigured along with Zero himself. The Z-Saber now no longer possesses a lightsaber-like appearance, but a deltoid-shaped blade. Furthermore, the Z-Saber received a few upgrades. Unlike in the Mega Man X series, the Zero series Z-Saber can be used while running and dashing (however, no combos can be performed while in motion). Additionally, it was created using the same technology as the X-Buster, giving it the ability to be charged and vary its effects and shape.
- Buster Shot: A blaster salvaged from a fallen soldier after reawakening, it has since been modified and upgraded to Zero's liking with the help of the Resistance. As a result, it is able to have its functions modified by special chips Zero carries with him and can fire a limitless supply of solar rounds in a manner akin to his original Z-Buster. Of the techniques he utilizes with this weapon, the most notable include the Time Stopper (which freezes anyone hit in time), the Tractor Shot (which can absorb enemy projectiles along its flight path to gain power), and the Reflect Laser (which pierces virtually any target and reflects off walls and obstacles).
- Shield Boomerang: A modification to the Z-Saber, allowing Zero to mount it on his arm and spin it to reflect all but the most powerful projectile attacks. While it offers no defense against melee combatants, it can also be thrown as a buzzsaw and imbued with elemental powers as well.
- Chain Rod: Another modification for the Z-Saber, turning the handle into an energy chain that Zero can freely manipulate like a whip to hook onto and stun enemies, drag them closer for additional attacks, or simply impale them at a distance. In addition, it can be used as a grappling hook and to grab useful items that are out of reach. Like the other modifications, it can be imbued with element chips to modify its properties.
- Triple Rod: A lance-like extension for the Z-Saber that Zero uses in a manner akin to his former Durga Glaive, attacking foes with flurries of thrusting and slashing attacks and deflecting oncoming attacks with battle staff-like movements. Like the other attachments, it can be imbued with element chips to modify its properties.
- Recoil Rod: Yet another modification for the Z-Saber, splitting it into a pair of tonfas that repulse anything they strike if not outright destroying the target on contact. It can also be used to propel Zero great distances by using it against a wall or the ground.
- Zero Knuckle: Chips embedded in Zero's palms allows him to wrench away items from others and use them as his own while also boosting his punching power.

TechniquesWhen Zero defeats a boss, he learns a "technique" (必殺技 Hissatsu Waza , lit. "Sure-Killing Arts"). These learned techniques let Zero mimic certain attacks used by defeated bosses and are usually assigned to certain elements. The learned techniques vary from attacks to movement styles. Mega Man XtremeZero can help X in Mega Man Xtreme with the "Zero Scramble" items, which will summon Zero for a quick attack. Zero can also use these attacks in the second game, Xtreme 2. Power Up PartsSimilar to X's armors, Zero can use power-up parts in Mega Man Xtreme 2. Each parts upgrade his skills when he enters in Dr. Light capsules. Unlike X, Zero's appearance will not change.
Black ZeroBlack Zero (ブラックゼロ ) is a hidden version of Zero appearing in Mega Man X4, Mega Man X5 and Mega Man X6, as well as Mega Man X8. It usually appears as a black colored version of Zero with platinum blonde hair and a purple Z-Saber blade. While it is purely a recolor in X4, it features several abilities during its following appearances. In X5 and X6, it increases Zero's attack and defense capabilities. In X8, the Zero Armor appears once again; however it is more balanced than its previous incarnations. It still doubles Zero's attack strength but at the same time decreases his defense power by half. The Black Zero armor is usually unlocked by putting a cheat code put in at the game's title screen, clearing certain objectives such as finding Dr. Light's secret capsule in X5, and obtaining all Rare Metals for Zero in X8).

Whenever the player rescue one that holds such data, Alia gives the player the chance to equip that data to one of the characters after completing the stage. When distributing power-ups, read the descriptions since they change their effect depending on (a) which character it is assigned to, and (b) what attribute it is assign to (Speed, Power, or Special). Additionally, if the player completes the game and then starts a new game from an old save file, all previous power-ups are retained, making it possible to max out all of the parts for each character. EX SkillsIn the Mega Man Zero series, Zero can learn EX Skills similar to his techniques by defeating the bosses after activating their EX Skill. In Mega Man Zero 2 and Mega Man Zero 3, they can be activated by having an A or S rank before taking the mission. In Mega Man Zero 4, they are activated by taking the mission while the weather is favorable to the boss, but some bosses still only utilize their special techniques at A or S rank. Mega Man Zero 2

Element chipsMega Man Zero and Mega Man Zero 2 have three Element Chips that Zero obtains after defeating a specific boss for the first time. Each chip adds an element to Zero's charged attacks and some of his EX Skills. In Mega Man Zero 3 these chips are classified under the Body Chip category. They are absent in Mega Man Zero 4, but Zero can still use elemental attacks through his EX Skills.
Mega Man Zero 3Head Chips
Body ChipsBody chips in Mega Man Zero 3 are automatically obtained simply by defeating a boss for the first time.
Foot Chips
Mega Man Zero 4Most of the chips do not have recipes for learning in the game, and when fabricating chips, the order of the used parts in the recipes is irrelevant. Each chip can only be created once. The player can hold up until nine units of the same part. Most of the parts for chip recipes are randomly dropped by defeated enemies present in revisitable stages, except for Moloid parts. Moloids are only found during the mission to protect the Area Zero Settlement, after defeating four Einherjar bosses in the game. In the Hibernation Chamber stage, Scrap Elves can only be defeated by Zero using the Zero Knuckle to grab a lamp and use it to push them against sunlight, during sunny weather at the easy and normal difficulty modes. Pantheon Corpses are only activated if the player waits for them to be possessed by Scrap Elves in the same stage. Poplans can be defeated by the Zero Knuckle or flame elemental attacks. Ceratanium is not dropped by defeated enemies, and it is found in specific stage locations. S-Crystal and Junk are the only parts created by the player via recipes.
**All three Junk chips must be equipped together, without Cyber-elf active skills, to take effect by doubling Zero's attack and halving his defense. They will also "repel" the scrap elves as well, but it really just makes him immune to their damage in normal and easy modes. |

Croire (クロワール Kurowāru) is a new type of Cyber-elf developed by Ciel in Mega Man Zero 4. Alouette gives her to Zero after he defeats Carnage Force 0. Croire is a customizable elf, and presents an entirely different approach to the Cyber-elf system. Like the satellite elves from Mega Man Zero 3 she follows Zero and provides a passive effect without being sacrificed, but attempting to use abilities beyond the maximum limit penalizes the mission score. Croire's effect is set by changing which elf type she is copying: selecting one elf each from the Nurse, Animal and Hacker types. At any time, she can copy one elf from each type, with a level less than or equal to her current elf level. By feeding her with E-crystals and leveling up the preferred type of ability, this Cyber-elf becomes more powerful as it grows through seven stages of evolution. Normally, elf effects do not usually overlap. For example, when copying the level 7 Animal elf, Croire will cut the damage Zero takes in half, but she will not fire any bullets from the level 3, 4 and 5 Animal elves, nor will Zero get increased speed. But he may at the same time tell Croire to copy the level 3 Nurse elf (8 extra life), and the level 2 Hacker elf (upward slash in saber combo), and he will receive all three effects at once. However, if one of the three abilities is set to the highest level, the player will receive every preceding bonus in addition to the one listed for that level. Additionally, in Ultimate Mode, all the powers of the preceding elves will be active at once regardless of the set level. Abilities

Standard Tactics: Zero attacks with his several weapons and techniques and can also summon X, Axl, Alia, Layer, and Pallete for help. He can equip his Black Zero armor along with chips and parts to make himself stronger as well. He also can receive calls for Alia, Layer, and Pallete to give him advice on enemy weakness' or strategies for his advantage. | Same as Before | Zero uses his several weapons and skills along with Cyber-Elves to help him in combat if needed. He can also transform into his many forms and equip chips to his advantage.
Weaknesses: Can be a bit overconfident at times as he said before that he doesn't need any power ups while talking to Dr. Light. Zero does not hesitate to sacrifice himself for the greater good as shown with Vile and Weil.
Note: Command Mission is not canon as it takes place at the same time of the Zero series.
Note 2: Mega Man Maverick Hunter X is the X series reimagined and exists as a separate continuity. However, similar details and elements shared should scale to the main continuity if there are no contradictions.

~ Model Z |
Background
Model Z (モデルZ Moderu Zetto), the Red Mega Man, is a Biometal from the Mega Man ZX series. It is the Biomatch to Girouette and contains the essence of Zero.
This dropdown contains the synopsis of Model Z’s story. Read at your own risk as you may be spoiled otherwise! |
---|
Note: Credit to Mega Man Knowledge Base CharacteristicsModel Z is a black and red Biometal shaped after a hexagon. It is fairly similar to Model X, though the front resembles Zero's helmet from the Mega Man Zero series. The chin has a long white ridge running across the Biometal's lower half. When merged with its Biomatch, Girouette, Model Z outfits the host with primarily red armor similar to Model X; however, it lacks a helmet, instead covering the user's eyes with an angular visor. The Chosen One is equipped with the Z-Saber, specializing in close range. Attacks used by Girouette in this form are based on Zero's attacks, including a jump slash, a dash slash, a charged slash, a wide range attack, and an unique "Z" shaped move. Model Z is never shown to have any type of Buster, excluding Model ZX, which may be due to Model X's influence or gameplay design. Model Z retains Zero's personality traits. Like in the past, he never loses his composure even in dire situations and is also willing to put himself at risk for the sake of those he trusts. He seems to have a good relationship with Girouette, who calls Model Z his partner. Model Z later comments that Giro is a good man. HistoryBackgroundAfter Serpent betrayed the Guardians and seized Model W, the first commander of the Guardians created Model Z along with five other Biometals to fight the threat. Made from the soul of a legendary hero and the data gathered from Model W, the Biometal was given one of six passwords required to unlock the seal to the Model W core before the memories following his creation were erased. Model Z eventually came into possession of Girouette, a Guardian who received orders from the first commander to protect the victims of Maverick raids before her disappearance. However, her successor Prairie was unable to understand this command until Model Z performed Megamerge with Giro, revealing the fact that only the survivors could be chosen by the Biometals. His password is Fortitude Creed, which means: "Brotherhood of Bravery," and represents his iron will and dedication to those he cares for. Mega Man ZXWhen Model X is discovered by a Guardian unit, Giro, now living as owner of his own transporter company is commissioned by Prairie to deliver the Biometal. Accompanied by either Vent or Aile, Girouette is separated from his protégé by a Maverick attack as they head to the rendezvous point. Giro is able to repel the Mavericks as Mega Man Model Z, and eventually reunites with Vent/Aile, who became Model X's Chosen One. During a Maverick attack on Area D, both Giro and Model Z fall to the influence of Serpent, who forces them to fight Vent/Aile. As Giro struggles to fight the influence, he suffers a lethal blow from Serpent, only surviving due to Model Z serving as life support. However, the passwords of Model X and Model Z are stolen by Prometheus and Pandora, leaving Giro and Vent/Aile at the mercy of the Mavericks. Model Z is convinced by Giro to cancel the transformation and protect Vent/Aile instead. Giro passes away, but Model Z is able to save Vent/Aile's life by performing a Double Megamerge with Model X, turning Vent/Aile into Mega Man Model ZX. Model Z's power proves instrumental in Vent/Aile's fight against Serpent's forces, assisting in Vent/Aile's recovery of the Biometals Model H, Model F, Model L and Model P from Serpent's Pseudoroids. It also aids in the unlocking the seal to the Model W core, but Serpent takes the Model W and immediately starts Maverick attacks across the country to feed the core. The Model X Chosen One takes the fight to Slither Inc.'s head office, only to find out that the Blue Mega Man's hatred for Serpent was the final key to Model W's awakening. However, Model Z and the other Biometals, encourage his Chosen One to not give up and fight with bravery. Motivated by the words of all the Biometals, Vent/Aile defeats Serpent and is removed from the collapsing building by the Biometals. In the end, Model Z shares some final advice to Vent/Aile, telling the Model X Chosen One to face his/her destiny and carve a new future. Mega Man ZX AdventFour years and eight months later, only Model X and Model Z remain with Vent/Aile as the other four Biometals were stolen by Prometheus and Pandora, who gave them to evil Biomatches. However, they only discover what happened to the Biometals when the fact is revealed by either Grey or Ashe, the new Mega Man Model A after clearing up a misunderstanding over a local Model W fragment. During the battle, Model Z also warns Vent/Aile (depending on who the player is playing as) that Model A was emitting data (referring to the ciphers being unlocked). Model Z explains that they were following the stolen Biometals, which is how they found Grey/Ashe and the Model W. When Master Albert finishes the creation of Ouroboros, Vent/Aile joins forces with the Model A Chosen One to stop Albert, but Vent/Aile stops to fight Aeolus, Atlas, Thetis and Siarnaq while Grey/Ashe faces Albert. After Albert is defeated and Ouroboros starts to collapse, Model Z spontaneously separates from Vent/Aile and Model X to hold back the other Mega Men while the Model X Chosen One rescues Grey/Ashe. Promising that he won't die that day, Model Z tells the four Chosen Ones that he knows their own Biometals more than they do, causing the four to be suddenly immobilized shortly before the explosion of Ouroboros. Although it is later revealed that the four Mega Men survived the event, Model Z's fate remains unknown. |
