~ Nathan to Count Dracula

Background

Nathan Graves is the son of two powerful vampire hunters, who several years prior, had been slain in a battle against Count Dracula. A man who fought alongside the two and was the one to finally slay Dracula, Morris Baldwin, ended up adopting Nathan into his family and trained him alongside his own son, Hugh Baldwin.

Nathan and Hugh would grow up to be rivals, and would both contend with one another over who should inherit the Hunter Whip from Morris; with Hugh always coming out on top. During their coming of age ceremony, to Hugh’s shock, Nathan was chosen to hold the Hunter Whip.

Many years later, Nathan and the Baldwin’s found out that a woman named Camilla resurrected Count Dracula during an arcane ceremony. The three hunters travelled to the newly-recovered Dracula’s Castle, only to have Morris be kidnapped and Nathan and Hugh cast aside. Hugh instructed Nathan to go home and leave things to him, although Nathan refused and traversed Dracula’s Castle on his own.

As Nathan continued fighting his way through Dracula’s Castle, he came to the terrible truth that Hugh was manipulated by darkness into siding with Count Dracula. Nathan, having gained immense power on his quest through the Castle, was able to defeat Hugh and make him come to his senses.

At last, Nathan was able to make it into Dracula’s throne room and confront the Dark Lord himself. While Hugh rescued Morris and got him to safety, he entrusted Nathan to fighting Dracula. Much to the Dark Lord’s surprise, Nathan was able to strike him down and claim victory.

Nathan fled from Dracula’s Castle as it crumbled behind him, and made his way back to Morris and Hugh. With Morris able to recover his strength, Hugh and Nathan reconciled for their biter rivalry and became friends at last.

Powers and Techniques

Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Weapon Mastery (Whip Mastery; Nathan is able to utilize the Vampire Killer in attacks, being capable of spinning it around in quick fashion[35]. Firearm Mastery; Able to attack enemies with a gun[36]. Knife Mastery; Nathan throws knives at high and deft speeds[37]. Axe Mastery; Nathan throws axe at an arch[38], normally to deal with air based enemies[39]. Boomerang Mastery; Nathan throws and uses the crucifix as a boomerang, with it always coming back to him[40]), Accelerated Development (Leveling, Physical Stats & Abilities; Nathan naturally grows stronger, faster, and more skilled as he journeys throughout the castle, leveling up[41]), Information Analysis (Nathan is able to tell the name and level of an enemy he's fighting[42]. Where seeing the amount of damage[43], names of enemies[44], and their data[45] are normally done through special items[46]), Sheer Will (Simon claims that the Belmonts and Morrises did not defeat Dracula because of the Vampire Killer, with the reason behind heroes' capacity to fight against evil lying not in their physical strength but the noble desire to drive away evil and usher in all that is good, the desire to protect the world for all of humanity, with the courage to fight to protect others being the true essence of a hero and a Belmont's strength, with this even applying for other heroes such as Shanoa, Maria, Charlotte, and even Arikado[47]), Contact Damage (Item Crashes allow one to deal damage to an enemy on contact, even if the item they have they cannot do an item crash with[48]), Energy Absorption (Nathan can get hearts out of objects and enemies, where hearts are a measure of one's stored energy, thus one is absorbing energy when gaining hearts[49]).

Resistance to Attack Reflection (Can harm Dracula[50], where Dracula's mere rib bone reflects all projectiles back[51]), Poison Manipulation (Nathan can eventually recover from the effects of poison[52]), Curse Manipulation (Nathan can eventually recover from the[53] effects of being cursed[54]), Ice Manipulation & Absolute Zero (Nathan can break out of being frozen[55], where to protect against ice attacks in series, one normally wears rings that help them resist against absolute zero[56]), Death Manipulation & Fate Manipulation (Nathan can take hits from Death[57], who is noted to govern the fate of death[58], being noted to have the power to govern the end of all living things[59], and can use his scythes to kill abstractions such as distance and sound[60]. Death decides who lives and who dies[61]), Petrification (Can take hits from Medusa Heads, who can turn one into stone upon contacting them[62]. Nathan can recover frmo being turned to stone and break out of it[63]), Black Holes (With Jupiter + Blackdog, forms a black hole around Nathan, where all it does is drain some health from him and nothing more[64])
Resistance to Dracula's Castle (Nathan is able to be dropped into the Abyss and still live, being unaffected by Dracula's Castle[65])

The Castle Abilities Include:

Reality Warping (The Castle does not work on standard logic, where changing rooms can have one view a completely different background[66], such as room with a blue sky that is reflecting up and downwards and having the clouds rotate at a fast speed[67]), Transmutation (Beings that come near are subject to the castle's influence, such as a local barnyard owl which was mutated just from flying near it[68]), Possession (The castle possesses objects with its magic, such as a ouija table[69]), Sealing (Dracula's magic captured Aguni, a primitive god of fire[70]. The Castle has doors sealed off without solving puzzles[71]. This can extend to walls being sealed off where explosions will not affect it until the seal is gone[72]), Mind Manipulation (Everything that enters the castle is under the control by the power of Dracula's castle[73], the ghost of Eric Lecarde needed to cast a magic barrier to bind himself so he could be free from the control of the castle[74]. The Castle corrupts the minds of those who enter it, such as making Maxim Kischine feel strange ever since coming to it[75]. It also corrupted the mind of Hugh turning him against Nathan with Nathan noting he's being controlled by Dracula[76]. The castle increases one's dark desires, allowing Dracula to easily control them[77]. The magic of Dracula's power that empowers the owl enemy also spurs it to violence[78]), Madness Manipulation (The Castle warped Gergoth, a once-gentle beast and drove it mad[79]), Size Manipulation (Magically enlarged a toad through the use of demonic baptism[80]), Fear Manipulation (Even while far away, Curtis and Michelle felt malicious intent from the castle where their bodies seemed to squeal "run away"[81]. Michelle even being at the entrance to the castle had her body telling her to not go in and her leg muscles being petrified like stone[82]), Curse Manipulation (The Curse status that spirits inflict[83] comes from them absorbing the magic power around the castle. The Castle cursed a human to turn into a lizard man[84]), Life Manipulation (The castle can bring inanimate statues to life to attack[85]. Can cause the glass murals to come to life and attack[86]), Soul Manipulation (Those that die in the castle become one of the floating spirits that wander the halls of the castle for eternity[87]), Abstract Manipulation & Hell Manipulation (The castle can create a core of evil made from hatred, envy, anger and other dark emotions[88]), Text Manipulation & Plot Manipulation (The vital souls are noted to be apart of the Castle's power[89], where is noted by Lucy that the "vital soul" of a monster is the cause of the grimoire chaos[90] where creatures of the night's dark powers allowed them to rewrite the Grimoires to strengthen their dark powers greatly[91], along with their vital souls causing the grimoires contents to be overwritten changing history to things such as Jonathan Morris is now at a disadvantage in battle[92], or Charlotte fading from existence due to them messing with the history of the Grimoires[93], Maria starting to fade because Richter's history is being rewritten[94], where if the contents of the book change the creatures magic will keep growing and eventually overflow into reality, causing the grimoire to fall into chaos and even more monsters materializing into the real world[95]. The text alterations also make the monsters stronger[96]. With the real world and world of grimoires being one and the same[97], compared to the like of Brauner's painting worlds that are quantum multi-layered spaces requiring understandings of theories such as "Curse Amplification"[98]. Death was going to use Dracula's magic to rewrite Dracula's defeat to Trevor making it where Dracula defeats Trevor Belmont instead where Dracula would go on living in the rewritten grimoire with each grimoire being its own world and the grimoires influence extends into reality[99]), Law Manipulation (The vital souls are noted to be apart of the Castle's power[100], which alter grimoires, which do not adhere to the laws of reality[101]), Power Modification (The vital souls are noted to be apart of the Castle's power[102], which the vital souls cause alterations of the Grimoire that can greatly limit the powers of those far stronger than them, such as Jonathan Morris' power being limited due to the alterations[103]. The Chaos of the Grimoire destabilized the magic of the others[104])

Wields the Vampire Killer, which grants:

Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Non-Standard Interaction (Metaphysical Interaction; The Whip of Alchemy can interact with ghost[105]. Elemental Interaction; The Whip of Alchemy can interact with enemies that are the mist itself[106]), Air Manipulation (The Alchemy whip can create a large gust of wind with its finishing attack in a combo[107]. The Alchemy whip can create wind blades around its user to protect them from all directions[108]), Light Manipulation (The Alechemy whip can bring down holy light to attack the enemy[109]), Holy Manipulation (Holy Whips cannot be touched by people weak to holy magic or else it will burn their hands and cause them to disentergrate[110]).

Resistance to Mimicry (The Castle is unable to perfectly mimic Leon's weapons[111])

All previous powers and abilities to a greater extent, Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Anti-Type Weaponry (Can harm and kill anything related to vampires, even if they are a divine being[112]), Extrasensory Perception (The Vampire Killer can sense who is a vampire[113], even those who are half-vampire such as Alucard[114]), Magic (The Vampire Killer has been referred to as a magic whip[115]), Contact Damage (Just through enemies merely touching the Vampire Killer they will be damaged by its effects[116]), Non-Standard Interaction (Abstract Interaction; Can interact with and kill Death, the abstract concept of death. Metaphysical Interaction; The Vampire Killer can interact with the creaturEs of the night[117] which includes[118] ghosts[119]. This is also shown in Haunted Castle Revisited[120]. Noted by Simon Belmont that the Vampire Killer will cleave one's soul[121]. Elemental Interaction; The Vampire Killer can interact with creatures of the night made of sand[122]. Can interact with creatures of the night made of fire[123]. Can fully disperse and destroy water bubbles instead of the attack just going through it[124]. Blood Interaction; Can harm and kill enemies made of blood[125]), Nullification (Invulnerability Negation; The Vampire Killer can completely remove Walter's invulnerability[126] to where he was immune to all other[127] weapons prior other then the Vampire Killer[128]. Power Nullification; Julius sealed the Vampire Killer within Dracula's castle in order to rip away Dracula's soul and magic[129]. Energy Nullification; Should be comparable to other magical whips that have been used to negate Dracula's Demonic Megiddo[130]. The Vampire Killer can nullify energy projectiles through hitting them[131], even those from Dracula[132]. Can negate fire projectiles[133]. Electricity Nullification; Can completely disperse and nullify electricity attacks[134]. Seal & Forcefield Nullification; The Vampire Killer can easily break open barrier seals[135]. Transformation Nullification; Christopher with the Vampire Killer injured Dracula so bad to the point that he was unable to transform back into "human" form[136]. Abstract Nullification; The Vampire Killer can nullify and destroy the scythes from Death, who can use his scythes to kill abstractions such as distance and sound[137]. Death decides who lives and who dies[138]. Pain Immunity Nullification; The Vampire Killer can make the White Dragon visibly react to pain[139] and scream out in pain, where it is an immortal being immune to pain and suffering[140]), Regeneration Negation (Holy; Christopher with the Vampire Killer injured Dracula to the point that his powers were greatly depleted and he was unable to do things like simply transform back into "human" form[141]. Juste with the Vampire Killer could permanently kill Dracula's Wraith to where he'll fade from the world for good who regenerated from the complete destruction of his body[142]), Immortality Negation (Ageless & Life and Death Immunity; The Vampire Killer can render immortal skeleton death gods like Death, mortal, having him bleed from attacks, giving him mortality as shown when Death dies to his own scythe cutting off his head and having blood spurt out, something not possible as a skeleton[143]. The Vampire Killer can kill Death to the point that he requires Mathias to survive in order for him to rise from the dead[144]. Death is a being unconstrained by mortality[145]. Immortal Metaphysical Aspect; Can harm and kill anything related to vampires, even if they are a divine being[146]), Resurrection Bypassing (The Vampire Killer can kill zombies[147], who are corpses brought back to life from the power of hate[148]), Purification (The Vampire Killer can purify people who was turned into a monster[149]. Christopher with the Vampire Killer purified his son of the evil effects of Dracula[150]), Fire Manipulation (Enemies fade into fire upon being struck with the Vampire Killer[151]. Enemies burst into flames when struck by the vampire killer, with the flames attaching to anything it's connected to, such as a spider having its webs burst into flames too[152]. The whip can have fire burst around the enemies even without them dying[153]. Causes even objects like coffins to burst into flames[154]. This is even shown in Lament of Innocence, once Leon has the vampire killer[155]. This is even shown in graphic novels such as Belmonts Legacy[156]), Explosion Manipulation (Trevor swinging the whip at the ground caused the ground to explode[157]), Memory Manipulation & Soul Manipulation (The Vampire Killer holds the souls of the many Belmonts who once wilded it[158], the Vampire Killer could also possibly hold the souls of Belmonts who have not even touched it yet, as it was originally planned to have it summon Julius from the future but they ultimately didn't go with the idea), Lifeforce Absorption (Even if the The Vampire Killer accepts one as its master, it still chips away at one's life force with every lash[159]. One must sacrifice their lifeforce in order to wield it[160]), Deconstruction (The Vampire Killer can reduce one to just a skeleton[161]), Light Manipulation (The Whip can create orbs of light to light up torches[162])

    Notable Techniques

    Item Crashes

Item Crashes are a technique utilized by Nathan that allow him to use special attacks with his sub-weapons. Performing an item crash takes more hearts then normally taken from the subweapon however in return the attack is capable of killing most enemies and greatly reducing a boss' health.

The item crashes are as follow:

    Pluto + Salamander (No Subweapon)

Nathan leaps into the air and summons 128 stars, each one as strong as a strike from his whip. This is the strongest Item Crush Nathan has. 100 Hearts.

    Thousand Edge

Nathan shoots 64 spears, an attack which is approximately as strong as 10% (22% in Shooter Mode) of his whip. He can switch his vision while continuing the Item Crush. During this period, he is invulnerable. 20 Hearts.

    Spiral Axe

Nathan leaps into the air and throws eight spinning axes, which is as strong as 79% (158% in Shooter Mode) of his whip. 8 Hearts.

    Hydro Storm

For 8.5 seconds, Nathan summons a rain of holy water which damages the enemy by 22% (39% in Shooter Mode) of his damage by whip. The rain hits all enemies approximately once every second. 20 Hearts.

    Holy Cross

Nathan leaps into the air and casts a pillar of light surrounded by spinning crosses. It damages the enemy at 100% (198% in Shooter Mode) of his damage by whip. 15 Hearts.

    Clock

Nathan summons four golden clocks which affect enemies more than a normal clock, and damages the enemy by throwing all clocks after the countdown reaches 0. The damage is as strong as Nathan's whip. 40 Hearts.

    DSS Combinations

DSS Combinations are potent abilities available to Nathan Graves in Castlevania: Circle of the Moon through the Dual Set-Up System. Activating each combination requires one Action Card and one Attribute Card. Below is a list detailing the effects of all 100 possible combinations.

These abilities involve imbuing the Hunter Whip with various elemental powers.

Most effects of Venus boost Nathan's base stats.

Jupiter Combinations primarily grant defensive abilities, typically creating a shield with the selected element.

Each Mars effect transforms the Hunter Whip into a unique, element-infused weapon. While any of the following card combinations are active, Nathan cannot continuously swing his whip by holding down the attack button.

Each Diana combination generates a projectile of the corresponding element whenever the whip is swung.

Apollo combinations enable a special attack, triggered by pressing ↓ ←(→) ↑ + [Attack].

All of Neptune's abilities activate upon taking specific types of elemental damage, restoring health at the cost of MP. The description for each ability appears in the DSS menu only after receiving the corresponding elemental damage. If MP is fully depleted, the effect ceases.

All Saturn combinations summon a familiar with unique attack styles. Some familiars attack independently, while others strike in sync with Nathan.

Uranus combinations summon the avatars of the elements, typically dealing damage to all enemies on-screen before vanishing. They are called forth by pressing ↓ ←(→) ↑ + [Attack], with Nathan being invincible during the summoning.

Pluto combinations produce a mix of random abilities, with no consistent theme across their effects.

    Other

Standard Tactics: Nathan will utilize his whip along with items, sub-weapons, armor, and card combinations that best suit the situation.

“…… If so, why did you take power away from the crack in the eclipse’s seal? If you just intend to imitate like a monkey, isn’t your own power enough?”
Those were the emotionless words of Death.
In response, Olrox laughed his bold answer.
“As I’ve said, I would equally gain control over the human world and the source of Dracula’s power, chaos. I do not intend to obey someone else’s mind aside from my own. That includes you who were born out of chaos.”
      “……”
“You should be glad though to know yourself. Just by stealing power, my shameful monotonous time is over…… Even before Alucard appeared, just because I showed up and declared war on him.”
Olrox’s voice was mixed with a tinge of thin delight. He respectfully bowed to Death who completely killed his emotions.
“I would end the reincarnation cycle of this demon castle. I who understood and was spun out of the stains of chaos, swear to rob that power with my hands. Now, yield.”
With Death’s reply, an explosive murderous intent rose.
Two bronze colored scythes much larger than usual appeared; it advanced to the space in between the two men with an intention to cut off Olrox’s head.
      Kill the distance-----
      Kill the sound-----
      Just, faster, soon, die.
It can be seen that the blades have certainly caught Olrox’s neck, but----- that is only an after image and the vampire is already at Death’s back.
      “……die.”
That was said by the enemy who called on his servants.
From the surrounding space, a group of purple bats rose, passed by Olrox’s arm with the speed of a bullet, attacking Death. However, Death did not show any gesture of avoiding them. He simply faced Olrox and sprayed out numerous scythes.
The bats and scythes cancelled each other out and the entire dance hall sparkled with blood."

There was definitely no room for doubt. It is certain that the [castle] exists at the back of the mountains. The church’s greatest vampire hunter, Julius Belmont must be contacted. However, the conversation jumped into the matter of the disappearance of several village children."

The youth had more than 28 holes penetrating his limbs and body. His heart is already starting to fail and he is desperately trying to say something amidst the darkness.
      “Only…… protect…… you……-----“
When he said those words he must say, the man’s soul already left his body-----becoming one of the floating spirits that wander the halls of the castle.
      However-----
      Fate did not allow it.
For those people who are involved with the demon castle, even the loneliness of death seemed half hearted-----
The man’s soul is pierced by a small scythe that flew in from somewhere. That scythe did not exist physically. It was a diabolic blade created by some magic and possessed a strong soul."

It was a whip that was soaked in blood in some places.
“I picked this up at the garden and I believe this is yours, right? Old man Julius also uses a whip. I came here just to deliver this to ya.”
Whoosh, receiving the thrown whip, Michelle noticed that it was the magical whip that serves as Curtis’ weapon.
“That’s great……! Curtis! With this your power-----“
In order to shake away the confusion she had a while ago, Michelle raised her voice, but-----
“Sorry, but…… with my current self, I could not handle it.”
“……? What are you talking about? Curtis……”
was he still confused, Michelle made him grip his whip.
Snap, some kind of popping sound rang and Michelle felt a light shock in her arm.
      “Uh……!?”
What happened, she directed her eyes on the origin of the shock-----
A part of the whip’s handle had a rotten like disintegration-----
A part of Curtis’ hand was burned, and that skin immediately returned back to as before.
      ----- No way……
