| ~ Captain Ginyu |
Background
Captain Ginyu is the captain of the legendary Ginyu Force, an elite squadron that serves directly under Lord Frieza as the second hand of the Frieza Force. As a child, Ginyu would abuse his unique Body Change technique to gain fame and fortune with his peers, notably by switching bodies with rich and popular kids he knew.
As he grew up, Ginyu’s special abilities and overwhelming power caught the attention of an alien named Cooler, who recruited Ginyu into Cooler’s Armoured Squadron. Ginyu was then put up against his comrade, Salza, as they fought over leadership of the team. Although the result of the battle is unknown, Ginyu left the Squadron regardless.
Ginyu was soon then recruited by Cooler’s younger brother, Frieza, who decided to make him the leader of his very own group; the Ginyu Force. Ginyu would become partners with four other aliens, known as Jeice, Burter, Recoome, and Guldo, and their team would become known for their eccentric poses.
The Ginyu Force was soon brought to Planet Namek by Frieza, who requested that they bring Scouters for him, along with destroying those who were trying to steal the Dragon Balls from him. They were pitted against the Dragon Team, including Son Gohan, Krillin, Vegeta, and Son Goku, who swiftly beat the team.
With only Captain Ginyu left, he opted to switch bodies with Son Goku, although he soon found out that he was completely unable to use Goku’s full power. As he attempted to then switch bodies with Vegeta, a frog intercepted his body swap, and ruined his plans.
Once everyone on Namek was teleported to Earth, Ginyu in the frog’s body was brought to Earth as well, where he lived out the rest of his days; unable to fight in his new form, and rendered completely harmless.

Attack Potency: Metropolis level (Potency) (Ginyu’s power level is 120,000, making him above the likes of Nappa who casually destroyed a city and stood within the blast without having any damage, and Raditz who can cause explosions dwarfing the mountains, which results in these levels of energy). Varies: Skill with Strongest Charged Blast (Charged Blast have one focus all of their energy into one single point[10], putting the blasts power far beyond what their peak strength is[11], allowing them to destroy things they couldn't prior with their regular attacks[12], this also allows them to use charged attacks that can stop enemies far beyond their level, such as Tien Shinhan pushing back Semi-Perfect Cell with his Neo Ki-Ko-Ho[13], along with stopping an attack shot from Buu absorbed Gotenks[14]. Strongest charged blast can gather ki to shoot out blast far beyond what the character is normally capable of[15], with blasts capable of[16] seriously damaging/destroying[17] the Earth along with completely obliterating the opponent[18]. Charged Blast also rely heavily on emotional states for example Gohan not believing in himself[19] was having Cell overpower him in a beam clash[20]) | Metropolis level (Potency) (Ginyu’s power level dropped to 23,000 with Goku’s body, which is above Vegeta’s power level). Varies: Skill with Strongest Charged Blast | Average Human level (Bulma is a regular human). Varies: Skill with Strongest Charged Blast | At least Island level (Potency) (When possessing Tagoma, could easily fight against a base Golden Frieza Saga Son Gohan, with Gohan needing to go super saiyan to beat him[21], which should put him far beyond Second Form Cell, who destroyed several islands with several blasts). Striking Strength: Metropolis Class (Potency) | Metropolis Class (Potency) | Average Human Class | At least Island Class (Potency)
Lifting Strength: Class 1 (Superior to Early Saiyan Saga Goku, who before training with King Kai is able to barely move around and jump in gravity that multiplies his weight by ten times, where he's naturally 62 kg, thus making him 620 kg on King Kai's planet) | Class 1 | Regular Human | At least Class 50 (Superior to Golden Frieza Saga Son Gohan, who is comparable or superior too Buu Saga Super Saiyan Son Goku, who could casually fight while carrying 40 tons)
Travel Speed: High Hypersonic (Superior to Saiyan Saga Son Goku with Goku being capable of traveling over a million of kilometers in two days which results in these speeds) | High Hypersonic (Still superior to Saiyan Saga Son Goku | Average Human | At least Massively Hypersonic (Superior to Frieza fight Son Goku, who traveled to the Freiza fight at these speeds)
Attack Speed: High Hypersonic | High Hypersonic | Average Human | At least Massively Hypersonic
Reaction Speed: High Hypersonic (Far beyond 22nd Budokai Son Goku, who could dodge a mouth blast from Tambourine, which he used to tag the flying nimbus where even post King Kai training Goku used the flying nimbus to make it to the saiyans implying it is at least comparable to his flight speed by then, with Goku being capable of traveling over a million of kilometers in two days which results in these speeds) | High Hypersonic | Average Human | At least Massively Hypersonic
Stamina: Superhuman (Should be comparable to, if not superior to, early-Dragon Ball Z Goku, who travelled across Snake Way mainly non-stop for over 100 days. Swapping bodies with others can completely rejuvenate his stamina)
Range: Standard Melee, Interstellar with Ki Attacks (Ki attacks can reach out of the planet and to other planets. All ki attacks should be comparable to Goku's kamehameha, which reached all the way to the sun)
Intelligence: Average Intelligence
Knowledge: Expert level (As the leader of the Ginyu Force, Ginyu is a very respected fighter. When he recognizes that he’s losing a fight, he will tactfully harm himself before using his Body Change. He can even take on warriors such as Son Goku, who have decades of experience)
Powers and Techniques
- Chi Manipulation & Ki Manipulation (All beings in Dragon Ball[22][23][24] have ki, the very life force energy of all characters[25], ki allows a fighter to extend beyond their bodies limits, allowing them to even[26] block attacks that would otherwise[27] kill them from[28] raising their guard[29], higher level users can lower their own durability to allow people far below them to fatally wound them[30])
- Aura
- Projection: A users ki aura can exert itself[31] as a weapon to attack[32].
- Explosive: Ki users through powering up can form an entire aura around themself, radiating their immense power[33], where depending on their immense strength, can cause them to explode their aura outwards to remove excess ki from themself[34].
- Mood Reflection: Goku and Piccolo Jr. with their auras and their stern concentration on each other reflected in their electric auras, even shooting electricity at each other[35].
- Emotional Empowerment (It's noted that ki users can receive energy through one cheering them on[36]. Ki users can be greatly increased by their emotions and beliefs, Son Goku explains that Son Gohan needs to remember the time he fought Cell and bring out all of the power he has, this way he can lose to no one[37] where it's shown during the Cell beam clash that he was holding back greatly out of fear of destroying the earth but from being cheered on and using all of his power within him, he was able to overpower Cell[38])
- Attack Reflection (All Ki users are able to reflect attacks just by being stronger than their opponent[39]. Examples include, Nappa deflecting a masenko from Son Gohan[40], Son Gohan being able to bounce back the spirit bomb[41], Son Goku deflecting a crusher ball from Jeice[42], Frieza deflecting a Final Burst Cannon from Vegeta[43], Son Goku reflecting multiple death beams back to back from Frieza[44], and Future Trunks being able to completely repel an energy blast with his hand from a Frieza Soldier just by being much stronger than them[45])
- Homing Attack (Ki users can create attacks that will home in and chase a target forever[46])
- Penetration Damage
- Weapon Creation (Ki users can create energy weapons out of their attacks[50])
- Power Absorption & Energy Transferal (Ki users can transfer their ki to others and absorb the ki given to them from others[51])
- Attack Nullification
- Power Nullification
- Ki Energy Based: Through having greater ki, one can nullify the powers done through ki attacks, such as Frieza being able to nullify a hakai ball[55], which fully destroys a target[56], though he is unable to resist a hakai ball from Toppo due to him being stronger[57], this ability however only works on ki, attacks unrelated, characters cannot resist through being stronger, such as how Vegeta, Krillin, & Son Gohan are unable to resist Guldo's psychic powers[58], along with even the likes of Son Goku[59].
- Forcefield Creation (Ki users such as Cell can generate forcefields around themselves[60]. These forcefields can be expanded[61], and used to protect others and defend against attacks far higher then the user[62])
- Super Armor (Through releasing one's ki, they enter a state known as "Hyper Mode"[63], in this state they do not flinch from weak melee attacks[64])
- Self-Destruction (Ki users in Dragon Ball are able to[65] release all of the energy within them[66] to cause a massive[67] self-destruction of energy that normally kills the user and turns them into dust[68] though one can control it to surviving but having no stamina or energy left[69])
- Dormant Power Reservoir (Ki users have a dormant power reservoir within them, as shown in arcs like the Buu Saga where Babidi saps this energy in order to use the energy to revive Buu and break his seal[70])
- Internal Destruction (Powerful ki users can overload enemies with their ki, causing them to swell up and explode from the sheer density of ki within them[71])
- Binding
- Dreaming Existence (Characters in Shin Budokai have shown to create physical bodies in alternate timelines through dreaming[74])
- Non-Standard Interaction
- Intangible Interaction: Those with ki can block intangible attacks when they focus and notices them[75].
- Space-Time Interaction (3+1-D): Characters can blast space-time distortions to close them[76].
- Healing
- Healing Singular Targets
- Advanced Healing: Ki can be used to heal beings, allowing them to survive even with half their torso[77], it can also heal from near death[78].
- Healing Singular Targets
- Resurrection
- Resurrection of the Deceased (Limited): Ki users can resurrect ones heart from death if their ki beams hit their heart, restarting it[79].
- Resurrection from Exhaustion: Can heal downed allies to give them ki back, reviving them[80])
- Intimidation & Spirit Manipulation (Ki is the manifestation of one’s lifeforce[81], along with the aura giving one the feeling of being crushed[82], exerting fear[83] into the target, sometimes making them incapable of moving as their[84] body is instinctively stuck due to the sheer difference in power[85])
- Link Manipulation & Mind Manipulation (Characters can link their ki together and train within each other’s mind enacting in image training[86])
- Vibration Manipulation
- Electricity Manipulation
- Weather Manipulation (Powerful Ki users can generate entire storms through merely powering up alone, Nappa used this in order to conjure the electricity from the storm[91]. Goku showcases this when he first turns super saiyan, causing a massive lightning storm in the background[92])
- Energy Manipulation (Ki is the latent power in one's body, this latent power allows them to form and create energy from controlling their ki, which can be used to shoot out energy blast[93])
- Explosion Manipulation (Ki attacks can create massive explosions[95], or control the ki to set off a huge explosion under the enemy[96], or in front of them[97])
- Portal Manipulation
- Non-combat applicable: Characters in GT can link their minds together to open a portal between the living realm and the other world[98].
- Heat Manipulation
- Light Manipulation (Ki can be used as a flash of light[102][103][104][105][106][107][108][109][110], Degisu seeing ki attacks be fired notes that the characters are "firing light from their hands"[111]).
- Limited Resistance to
- Durability Negation (Ki users can focus their energy to localize an object to a specific spot to stop them from attempting to destroy their organs/insides[112])
- Soul Manipulation (Characters with a strong enough will can keep moving after getting their soul reaped, though this requires something akin to a familial or friendship empowerment)
- Superhuman Physical Characteristics
- Genius Intelligence
- Fighter's Intuition (Captain Ginyu can fight on par with martial artists such as Son Goku and Krillin)
- Acrobatics
- Flight
- Enhanced Senses
- Body Swapping (Captain Ginyu can swap souls with another person, essentially switching bodies with them)
- Telekinesis (Ginyu can telekinetically lift objects)
- Fusionism (Captain Ginyu can perform the Fusion Dance), Fusionism (Like other characters, Ginyu can perform the Fusion Dance)
- Reactive Power Level (As a Saiyan, his power level will increase after a tough battle. A saiyan’s power increases if they survive from injuries in battle, with their powers allowing them to greatly exceed their previous levels beforehand)
- Rage Power (Mere rage can amplify a saiyan to a level that's believed to be a myth even by the highest levels of saiyans in the verse)
- Damage Boost (Saiyans attack power rises when health is low)
- Superhuman Physical Characteristics
- Acrobatics (Capable of doing large superhuman jumps and leaps along with acrobatic flips during combat)
- Martial Arts
- Striking Arts: Before training under Master Roshi, Son Goku was trained by Grandpa Gohan to use techniques such as the jajanken (Rock, Scissors, & Paper) along with being able to deliver punches and kicks while blocking and defending from attacks. Went to train under Master Roshi and learn the turtle hermit style, a style training one to break the wall of humanity[114] mastering the art in both body and mind[115]. This style requires one to train in knowledge[116], work on one's stamina[117] work on their muscles and speed[118] dodge attacks even while tied to a rope in a short range[119] all the while wearing 20-kilo shells[120]. The Turtle Hermit Style are incorporated within this[121], allowing for students that trained under this style to be capable[122] of fighting against other martial artists[123] without needing to be taught any real fighting[124] along with taking no damage from attacks due to the style training their durability[125].
- Spiritual Arts: Told by Master Roshi to go out into the wide world and learn more about life, extending his knowledge and growing further for three years. Trained under Mr. Popo and Kami in the style of not wasting movements and making one's heart still going beyond merely just using one's eyes and being able to tell what actions one has done behind them being capable of seeing weak spots in techniques after only a little exchange.
- Vehicular Mastery (Land Vehicles & Air Vehicles; Able to drive cars, able to fly around in his flying nimbus even during combat)
- Weapon Mastery (Goku can use his power pole in combat and for other practices, such as a way to extend objects up without the use of his hands, along with reaching "the heavens" (Kami's Lookout))
- Social Influencing (Goku convinced a body guard of an evil man to become good[126])
- Natural Weaponry (After training his tail, it is no longer a weakness an enemy can exploit and a part of his body he can use in battle)
- Pressure Point Strikes (Used it to chop King Chappa and knock him out in one blow. Goku is capable of hearing telepathic conversations)
- Enhanced Senses
- Sheer Will (Goku has an immense amount of willpower, to the point that he can start his heart beating again after it stops from sheer will, along with drinking the water of the gods and suffering immense and unexplainable pain for six hours straight without ever giving in just to gain more power)
- Pure Heart (Goku is able to ride the nimbus cloud, which only those of a pure heart can ride. Was directly noted he doesn't have a single bit of evil in his heart)
- Regeneration (Mid-Low; Goku can recover his eye sight back after getting his eyes cut[127])
- Accelerated Development (Training, Physical Stats, Skill, & Abilities; As Goku trains he naturally grows stronger at a much faster rate then any of the earthlings. As an example, in the 21st World Martial Arts Tournament saga, Goku in a few months of training matched Master Roshi, one of the strongest Earthlings. Goku is able to increase his ki allowing him to mimic various attacks and gain access to abilities that even if teachers could not, such as how he was able to access Kaio-ken, which even King Kai couldn't access when he made the move itself)
- Bulletproof (Asides from gag scenes, bullets are unable to pierce him)
- Body Control (By the end of original Dragon Ball he learns the flight technique from seeing Tien and co. do it. Could control his tail to move fast enough to have him briefly fly)
- Afterimage Creation (Could use Jackie Chun’s afterimage technique. Could eventually make an even better version of Chun’s afterimage technique)
- Extrasensory Perception (After drinking the Water of the Gods, Goku was able to sense ki. Goku has been trained by Mr. Popo in learning to hone his sixth sense to be able to notice people attacking him from behind without using his eyes and feeling the environment around him. Goku's able to sense energy even if one's suppressing it[128])
- Precognition
- Analytical Prediction (During his training with Korrin he learns how to read his opponents movements)
- Transformation (Partial Transformation; During the Frieza saga through the rage of seeing his best friend's death, Goku was able to achieve the legendary Super Saiyan transformation)
- Summoning (Can summon the flying nimbus)
- Size Manipulation (With the power pole, can give it the command to extend, it is able to extend far enough to take his enemies to the moon)
- Pseudo-Battlefield Removal
- Power Mimicry (Goku has a consistent streak of mimicking abilities he’s seen others use, the most famous being him easily mimicking the Kamehameha, an ability stated by Roshi takes 50 years of practice to use, along with mimicking the demon clan’s air attack abilities and Tien’s Solar Flare, and Goku being capable of mimicking Roshi’s afterimage technique after seeing him use it against Krillin, with Goku even being able to improve upon it)
- Breath Attack (Goku can unleash a great blast of air from his lungs to momentarily stop himself in the air)
- Power Suppression (Statistics Suppression; With ki control, able to suppress one's ki to be able to fight weaker enemies, along with vary it to hide their true strength. Goku learned the ability to radically raise his chi only in the instant he attacks, so instantaneously that not even scouters can pick it up along with people that can ki sense not being able to pick it up)
- Shockwave Generation (Through punching the air with tremendous force, Goku creates a shockwave that blows opponents away before they have a chance to dodge)
- Air Manipulation (Goku can spin so fast he turns into a tornado[130])
- Solar Flare (With the solar flare, creates a flash of light that blinds the opponent)
- Spatial Manipulation (3-D; Goku can erase his presence completely, and ki allowing him to appear wherever, even when Piccolo punched him he didn't actually hit the real Goku)
- Telepathy (Goku is able to telepathically speak in people's heads. Read Krillin's mind, could read into King Kai’s telepathy with Guru and telepathically speak with King Kai)

- Absorption (Goku can absorb the ki gathered from the Spirit Bomb and use it to fuel his own ki)
- Power Manifestation (Goku is capable of coming up with new abilities)
- Telekinesis (Goku is able to use telekinesis being capable of telekinetically moving water, though this took a lot of concentration)
- Portal Creation (Non-combat applicable; Characters in GT can link their minds together to open a portal between the living realm and the other world[131]),
- Self-Destruction (Goku can self-destruct[132][133])
- Teleportation (Forced Teleportation; With the technique Instant Transmission, Goku can lock a ki signature and teleport to the location instantly)
- Damage Boost (His beam attacks such as the Kamehameha, are far beyond his regular attacks which is an attack that focuses all of Goku's latent energy into a single blast)
- Fusionism (Kid Goku can perform the Fusion Dance. Goku can perform the Fusion Dance).
- Human Achievements (Bulma is an accomplished scientist)
- Dimensional Storage (Bulma has Capsules, which contain all sorts of objects)
- Extrasensory Perception (Ginyu seems to be able to sense ki within Bulma’s body)
- Social Influencing (Bulma often uses her body to charm opponents)
- Extrasensory Perception and Information Analysis (Scouters detect energy readings)
- Spaceflight (Ginyu’s Attack Ball space pod allows for him to travel through space)
Equipment
- Attack Ball: This round space pod only has room for one person, which the Ginyu Force used to travel from planet to planet; notably, they were seen using this space pod to travel to Planet Namek.
- Ginyu Force Armor: Due to being a part of the Frieza Force, Ginyu has Battle Armor. This armor is unbelievably durable, but also incredibly stretchy; the armor can stretch so much that it fits around Saiyans when they turn into a Great Ape.
- Scouter: Technology developed by the Tuffle race, but adopted by the Saiyans after the Tuffles were wiped out. This advanced piece of technology can detect the presence of life forms, calculate anyone’s battle power, and can also be used for telecommunication.
Notable Techniques
- Flight: With a mastery of Ki control, Ginyu is able to fly at incredibly high speeds.
- Ki Blast: Using Ki, Ginyu can concentrate it into a ball that he uses as a projectile attack.
- Body Change: Through emitting an energy beam from his mouth, Captain Ginyu can swap souls with whomever his beam makes contact with; essentially swapping bodies with them.
- Galaxy Dynamite: Ginyu launches a barrage of purple ki blasts.
- Milky Cannon: Ginyu focuses Ki in his palm, before launching off a giant purple blast.
- Kamehameha: A legendary blue beam of ki, coined by Master Roshi. Ginyu obtained this technique when he took over Goku’s body.
Other
Standard Tactics: Ginyu will employ hand to hand tactics along with ki attacks. If the opponent is shown to be too strong for him he will attempt to swap bodies with them while damaging his own.
Weaknesses
- Standard Ki Weaknesses: Ki users that do not have sufficient training over their emotions put their power within a mental lock, thus affects to their emotions can seriously limit their powers[134], their emotions can also have them instinctively block using the full power of their attacks out of fear of the destruction along with lack of confidence in themselves[135]. If a Ki user is inflicted with any kind of status, disease, or poison, powering up or transforming will put further strain on the body[136] and can speed up the process of poison[137]. Users of Ki Sensing cannot sense beings that invisible, even if the character is in front of them attacking them, they have a hard time countering them due to being invisible[138]. Users of Ki Sensing also have a harder time sensing the true being using illusions, requiring them to focus in on energy fields to see who is moving and who is casting the illusion[139]. Due to the nature of ki draining stamina and energy, Dragon Ball characters ki usage requires them to usually use their higher levels of energy in short bursts, using a large amount of ki overtime can greatly weaken them to the point that characters far lower then them can actually harm them with attacks[140]. Taking large amounts of damage can greatly deplete a ki users attacks, making it where attacks that would otherwise kill massively weakened characters, only pushes them back[141]. Ki users cannot put all of their ki and strength into an attack if parts of their body are broken/injured[142][143], they also lose half of their chi if something like one of their arms are badly injured or broken[144].Ki users that are able to ki sense cannot do it when their guard is dropped, such as when Vegeta was able to sneak attack Son Goku during the end of their fight in the Buu Saga[145]. Despite some ki users being able to reach blasts that can destroy planets through charged attacks or techniques[146][147][148][149], they have not shown to be able to tank such blasts themselves[150][151][152], with attacks that have[153] destroyed several[154] planets in the series[155] always killing the character. Even characters such as Majin Buu's body cannot withstand the energy of a planet exploding[156]. Using ki volley attacks come with the caveat of their aim being rather poor, making it harder to hit moving targets. If ki users are at all possessed, even by accident, their true self will be sleeping within, with the possessor needing to awaken them[157]. Even if awoken, they are immobilized and unable to move without the possessor giving them the ability to[158], even with them wanting to wake up, they cannot do it[159]. Specific waves can can suppress a ki users power, and put their consciousness to sleep[160]. If Ki users stamina is broken, they will unable to be able to continue fighting for a short while, this will also cancel out any ki attack they were attempting to use, including ultimate's[161], this also adds on that ki users guards are down while charging ultimate attacks. Their stamina can also be broken if a character moves far too fast and surprise attacks them while they're charging their ki[162]. Ki Users can also be grabbed out of charging their attacks[163]. When ki users radiate their Ki at its highest, their body is also freed the most, making them open to attacks and making them easy to possess[164].
- Unique Weaknesses: When Ginyu body swaps, he is shown to be weaker than the original owner of the body. This is shown when he body swapped with Goku, in which he was unable to utilize Goku’s true power. If something gets in the way of his body swap it can prove a lot of trouble for him, shown when he accidentally swapped with a frog.
Note
- Some clips used on the profile come from an anime or movie due to the fact that some abilities from ki use shouldn't function much differently from how they can in canon, along with this sometimes the anime version/video game version of a scene will be used for cleaner visuals. Toriyama himself directly overlooks scenes in the anime and movies and gives Toei the thumbs up[165].
- The speed scaling for PLs are taken with a grain of salt as there are noticeable times where someone's speed isn't equal to their power, such as Burter being faster then Recoome and Jeice, along with Super Saiyan Grade 3 Trunks having his power greatly increased but his speed decreased.
Explanations
Codex Statistics Questions
Q: What about the planetary feats in Dragon Ball?
A: Planetary feats are normally done through their strongest charged blast, where they can gather ki to shoot out blast far beyond what the character is normally capable of[166], with blasts capable of[167] seriously damaging/destroying[168] the Earth along with completely obliterating the opponent[169], though they themselves are never capable of leaving this unscathed.
Frieza throws a destroy the planet death ball attack but it doesn't destroy the planet. Goku then interestingly notes the reason the planet didn't blow up is because Frieza was too scared of getting caught in the blast[170] . Vegeta's final flash is noted it's going to destroy the planet and Perfect Cell, who is beyond Vegeta, couldn't tank the blast and had to dodge it last second or it would've killed him[171]. Goku's kamehameha was going to destroy the earth and Cell cannot tank this blast, needing to regenerate[172]. Semi-Perfect Cell explosion was consistently noted it was going to destroy the planet and Gohan and it killed Goku[173]. Ultimate Gohan dies to an attack that destroys the earth, his guard was up too since this was when he was fighting Super Buu[174]. Kid Buu shoots a blast trying to destroy the planet, with Vegeta noting he's going to take himself out with it if he lets it off[175]. In Dragon Ball GT, Great Ape Baby Vegeta shoots a super galick gun that he claims will destroy Earth, when Goku is hit by it, he is knocked out to the point that he can't move for a good while, Elder Kai and Shin later state that Baby is going to shoot another blast that will destroy the planet on, greatly injuring Baby if he's caught in the Blast and will kill everyone on the planet if done[176]. Frieza destroyed the entire earth, killing Vegeta in the process[177]. In the Dragon Ball Super Manga, Gohan tells Goku that he doesn't need to hold anything back and can go all out because anything that happens to the Earth can be restored with Dende and the Dragon Balls. Yet, none of Goku's all out attacks destroy the planet but just heavily causes shockwaves around it[178]. Semi-Perfect Cell unleashes a several blast that destroys several islands Android 16 notes that the attacks are just strong enough to not kill Android 18[179].
In the fight of Trunks vs. Mecha Frieza, who is far stronger than his final form, Mecha Frieza immediately goes for his strongest attack, the Supernova. In the original Z anime King Kai even states this is ten times stronger than the power he used on Namek:
- DBZ Kai Version[180].
- Original DBZ Anime Version[181]. The attack is directly noted that it could destroy the planet, but doesn't because Trunks catches it, when Mecha Frieza proceeds to detonate it, the explosion is massive but the planet is still intact, implying Frieza must target the core in order to destroy the planet.
