~ Serial Designation J to Serial Designation V |
Background
Serial Designation J-10X111001, also known as J, is one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside Doll) in Murder Drones.
J is a Disassembly Drone who was initially believed to have been sent by the interstellar company JCJenson to eliminate "runaway AI" on Copper 9, as stated by herself and others. However, it was later revealed that this was a false claim. J was actually a former Worker Drone who had been converted by the Absolute Solver controlling Cyn and follows its commands in exchange for the program allowing her to survive.

---|
Pre-SeriesJ is a highly loyal Disassembly Drone with a past as a Worker Drone. After being repurposed, she became a maid at Elliott Manor, where she befriended Tessa, met N, V, and the Absolute Solver disguised as Cyn, and assisted Tessa in stopping the Solver from causing a massacre at the mansion. Despite their efforts, J, along with the other Worker servants, was corrupted by the AI and forced to aid in its violent plans. Eventually, the Solver rebuilt J as a Disassembly Drone, and she, along with clones of N and V, was sent to Copper 9 to eliminate all Workers there. PILOTJ is first shown in a flashback where she has N pinned to the ground, threatening to kill him if given the chance. She is later introduced at the corpse spire, where she finds N offline and assumes he simply tripped. J reboots N by scolding him and slapping his face, bringing his systems back online. When N suddenly runs off to chase Uzi and retrieve her railgun, J and V grow suspicious and follow him. The pair catch up with N, discovering he's managed to get through the first two doors of the Worker Drone bunker. J expresses surprise at N's ability to accomplish something, even rewarding him with the idea of receiving a JCJenson-branded pen. After V leaves to search for the last door, N questions the motives of JCJenson and the fate of the Disassembly Drones once all Workers are wiped out. N's questioning leads J to decide to kill him, planting a virus on him before leaving him for dead. She then flies into the vents to continue her mission of eliminating the rest of the Worker Drones. J and V corner Thad, Khan, and others, but N and Uzi arrive just in time to intervene. N tells J that he dislikes her treatment of him, prompting J to label him a traitor. A battle ensues between Uzi and J. While N defeats V, J is on the verge of victory, having Uzi on the ground and preparing to finish her off. However, during a monologue, Uzi stabs J with her Nanite tail. The painful stab causes J to stagger and fall, allowing Uzi to grab her railgun and shoot her, obliterating the upper half of J's body and killing her. HeartbeatIn a flashback, N dreams of J as a Worker Drone maid in a mansion, where she continues to be cruel to him. This is demonstrated when she kicks N to the ground and demands that he move. J then nervously greets Tessa, but her mood shifts to annoyance when she notices Tessa has another new Worker Drone with her. Later, as Frank tries to repair a hole in the ceiling caused by N, J's lifeless body starts to move as if being dragged. Frank investigates and discovers J’s chest pried open, exposing her organic insides and heart. Suddenly, J’s corpse transforms into a biomechanical monstrosity, later known as Eldritch J, which proceeds to kill Frank. The reanimated body goes on to kill more Worker Drones to gather parts for J's reconstruction. Eventually, N and Uzi confront Eldritch J and defeat her by stabbing her core with N’s Nanite tail, causing it to turn into a blackhole before floating away. The PromeningA clone of J is sent back to Copper 9 alongside her superior, Tessa, now an adult working for JCJenson. Tessa coldly mentions that they have "maintenance work" to handle, likely referring to their task of eliminating more Worker Drones. HomeIn N's memory, J is seen standing near Tessa, who nervously paces around a table. Tessa asks J to pretend to be a "ripping royal stud," and J complies, striking a pose like the one on a Gala invitation. Tessa congratulates her but winces in pain from her wrist, which makes J look at her sadly. Tessa assures her she’s fine but quickly gets distracted when she notices N. Later, Cyn informs Tessa that J forgot to let her out of the basement, and J comments sarcastically that Cyn still managed to escape, keeping the basement key in her hair. Tessa’s mother scolds her for bringing the Drones out again and threatens to throw them out, but Tessa apologizes quickly. Cyn retorts that the Drones are no longer "broken" and can’t be discarded. N steps in to defend Cyn. In a later scene, Tessa struggles in her bedroom to free herself from chains, with Cyn playing with a dollhouse and J sitting on a rocking horse. When Tessa asks J for help, J apologizes, saying she can’t because "corporate" (Tessa’s parents) ordered her not to. Tessa looks down and sees Cyn, now in Eldritch form, right in front of her. Cyn assures Tessa she won't have to discard her pets and warns her not to attend the gala before leaving through the window. Tessa and J exchange a fearful glance, and J tries to bite off Tessa’s chain. Tessa goads her about Cyn wanting "paid time off," which makes J angrily tear through the chain. Exhausted, she spits on the ground, and the two leave the room to confront Cyn. They quietly move through the hall, with Tessa almost knocking over a suit of armor. J grabs a revolver, and they exchange weapons. N and Uzi, in crow form, appear and motion for them to lay low. J and Tessa are confused, but their attention is drawn to cracked glasses falling from the ceiling, revealing V crawling above them. The group forms a protective circle, and N tells Tessa they need the key from J to access the basement. Uzi snatches the key from J’s hair, stating she would kill her. Tessa warns them that Cyn is planning to massacre the gala, and N questions whether this Cyn is the same one he knows, which makes Tessa and J suspicious. V attacks, but J steps in front of Tessa, using the sword to block V’s claw. She orders N and Uzi to go to the basement while she and Tessa stall "the coma patient." V tries to grab the key from N, but J pushes him through a doorway to stop him. The gala begins, and Cyn, controlled by the Absolute Solver, appears ready to attack. J and Tessa arrive to stop the massacre, but James and Louisa quickly scold their daughter for her actions. However, the Solver pushes them aside and takes control of all the drones, including J, who now has an 'X' on her visor. J slams the door behind Tessa, and the Solver begins the massacre. In the present, J is seen with Tessa, who meets Doll outside a building. Doll throws the key to Tessa, reminding her of their deal. Tessa responds by firing a warning shot at Doll to confirm she's not infected by the Solver. As they turn around, J and Tessa see Uzi, V, and N standing in the distance. They all stare at each other as the credits roll. Dead EndAfter Tessa reunites with N and V, Uzi expresses her frustration about constantly having to kill J. J responds, stating that effective Disassembly Drones are cloned more frequently. When Doll betrays the group and steals the Keybug, the group chases after her, leading them to Cabin Fever Labs. J reveals Cyn's plan to infiltrate the Labs and shares their plans to stop her. Tessa hands J the key to her ship, instructing her to guard the area outside. J then takes off and flies away. Mass DestructionOn the surface, Lizzy takes Thad outside the colony towards the corpse spire, eager to introduce him to her "secret friend." As they approach, the environment suddenly loses gravity, causing them both to faceplant onto the snow. The gravity anomaly quickly returns to normal. Moments later, a landing pod arrives, touching down on the spire, and from it, J emerges, swiftly entering the structure. Lizzy explains that this was the reason she brought Thad outside in the first place. Later, Thad and Lizzy plan to confront J, but before they can execute their plan, an explosion erupts from within the spire. J quickly boards her pod and leaves the area. When Thad and Lizzy enter the spire to investigate, they find that J has destroyed N and V's landing pod, rendering it useless as an escape vehicle. J later lands her ship at the entrance to the labs and attempts to contact Tessa, who, at this point, has revealed herself to actually be Cyn, wearing Tessa's corpse as a disguise. Before J can make contact, a school bus suddenly strikes her, causing her to lose the keys to her ship and slightly disfigure her tail. Enraged by the incident, J draws her gun, demanding to know the identities of the drivers responsible. As she regains her composure, J sees Lizzy and Thad in the fog, ominously holding a railgun (which had been rebuilt by Khan earlier) and a metal pipe, respectively. Khan, lying smugly on the roof of the bus, watches the scene unfold. Upon noticing the railgun light up, a warning sign labeled 'PRIOR HAZARD' flashes on J's visor, reminding her of the previous time she was killed by Uzi's railgun in the first episode. Absolute EndJ is first seen sitting on a remnant of Copper 9, holding an apology note from N for taking her ship, which includes a drawing stating he "owed her a ship." As she reads it, one of Cyn's tentacles brings back the destroyed and burning remains of their Landing Pod. J begrudgingly thanks her "boss" for both the placement of the ship and the destruction, revealing that she's known Cyn was Tessa the entire time and has been cooperating with her. Within the same fragment, Thad, Lizzy, Khan, and the bus that hit J in the previous episode are present. J exclaims it's time to go into the "scary planet hole thing." As she jumps down from the tower, her peg feet get stuck in the ice due to the gravitational pull. She reassures herself that she's calm before angrily yelling at Thad, Lizzy, and Khan to "Go away" and firing a missile at them. V and a red-eyed Sentinel appear, deflecting the missile. A confrontation between V and J ensues, with V questioning J's betrayal and her alliance with Cyn. V reminds J that she once told her the Absolute Solver would leave them alone as long as she and N did their jobs correctly. J reveals that the Solver tricked V, and if she promised her anything, then it tricked her too, acknowledging her awareness of Tessa's fate. J fires another missile at V, saying, "There's no escape, even in death," revealing her belief that there's no way to escape Cyn, which is why she's helping her. After cutting off V's lower leg, J asks her to join her and Cyn on the "winning team." V refuses, and they continue to fight, while N and Uzi attack Cyn with a composed black hole. As Cyn pursues Uzi, J rescinds her offer to V, kicking her down and coldly stating that she never truly needed her or N before shooting at her. Time passes, and after Cyn starts chasing V, narrowly escaping her grasp, J ambushes V, kicking her and sending her flying. Cyn throws N's corpse next to V, and J watches as Cyn prepares to kill her former friends. Uzi blocks Cyn's attack, cutting one of Cyn's limbs off in the process. She then points the railgun at both J and Cyn. J's visor displays the words "PRIOR HAZARD," recalling her death by Uzi's railgun from earlier. Cyn approaches Uzi for the final confrontation. J stands with Cyn as the fight begins, but when Uzi fires the railgun at her, the laser cuts off J's left pigtail before hitting her in the head, knocking her to the ground. Cyn retaliates by launching "Tessa's" sword at Uzi, using her tail to grab J and shield herself from the sword’s impact. J is decapitated, and Uzi sends J's head flying back at Cyn. Moments later, J regenerates when Cyn attempts to trick Uzi into thinking she stabbed N. J is ready to attack Uzi from behind, but V covers for Uzi, exclaiming that J is on the wrong team and shooting her. N then tells Cyn that there will be no more tricks. J's visor shows the Disassembly Drone "X," and she is sent plummeting into the labs, not to be seen again until the credits. During the end credits, J is shown fixing the landing pod inside the spire that she had previously destroyed, presumably preparing to leave Copper 9. |
Appearance
- Looks:
Serial Designation J is a female Disassembly Drone with silver hair styled in high twin pigtails, tied with black ribbons. Her neon yellow eyes are characteristic of Disassembly Drones. She wears a black headband adorned with five additional eyes that match the color of her visor. A long, thin black tail ending in a large syringe filled with Nanite Acid further defines her design.
- Attire:
J wears a short-sleeved black shirt with side pockets, which is paired with a black leather belt that gives the appearance of a skirt. Beneath her blazer, she has a dark yellow shirt and a tie, giving her a professional appearance compared to the other members of her squadron.
- Legs and Accessories:
J appears to wear knee-high stockings with visible suspenders, but these are actually part of her chassis. On her left bicep, she wears a yellow armband with a skull emblem, identifying her as a Disassembly Drone.
- Combat Mode:
In combat mode, J reveals jagged teeth, and her visor displays an "X" shape, signaling her aggressive intent. She has large metal wings with a yellow and black color pattern, containing 16 feather blades. The middle of these wings has two glowing yellow circles. J also possesses interchangeable hands that can be switched out for tools or weapons, including three-sharp claws that allow her to tear through targets with ease.
- Worker Form:
In her Worker Drone form, J wears a black hard hat with a maid crown attached to the front. Her attire includes a grey with black trim overall maid dress, paired with a black bowtie around the neck. She also wears black thigh-high socks with two white stripes at the top. Her twin pigtails are slightly longer with two black ribbons.
- Eldritch J:
Eldritch J, in its monstrous form, resembles Cyn's true form—a centipede-like being with a yellow and black color pattern. This form features multiple mantis-like appendages and a row of spikes along its back. Its head is identical to J’s, but with a melted visor, sharp serrated teeth in the upper jaw, and the absence of a lower jaw.
- Additional Features of Eldritch J:
Eldritch J has multiple appendages ending with Solver cameras, which it uses to project holograms of drones it has studied and killed. These holograms are employed to lure in its next victims. The being also has claw appendages for grabbing onto individuals. One of its appendages resembles a human hand, though it is unclear whether this is genuine human flesh or a look-alike.
Personality
- Lethal Workaholic: J is highly dedicated to her job, often using corporate jargon like "synergistic liability" and "fourth-quarter profits" as a substitute for insults or vulgarity. Her unwavering focus on her duties has led her to follow orders without question, even when it conflicts with her personal beliefs, as seen when she refused to help Tessa escape from her chains due to "corporate's spoken" directive.
- Obedient and Authoritarian: J has a deep-seated penchant for obeying authority, a trait stemming from her days as a Worker Drone. She places loyalty to her superiors above all else and is willing to carry out any command, even at the expense of others. This blind obedience is a core part of her personality, although she is not as sadistic or insane as others, like V.
- Arrogant and Domineering: J holds a deep sense of superiority over others and enjoys belittling them. Her arrogance is especially apparent in her relationship with N, whom she despises. J regularly insults N and even infects him with a virus when he dares to question the company. Her cruelty is further demonstrated in her abusive treatment of N, even in flashbacks to the Elliott Manor.
- Prideful and Self-Serving: Despite her disdain for others, J takes pride in her achievements. She values success and rewards those she considers worthy, as shown when she congratulates N for breaking past the Worker Drones' doors. However, her arrogance often leads to her downfall, such as when she allows Uzi a chance to stab her during a lengthy monologue, showing her tendency to underestimate others.
- Emotionally Complex: While J is generally cold and calculating, she is capable of displaying emotions. She is visibly terrified by Louisa's presence and unnerved when attacked by Lizzy, Thad, and Khan. She also feels guilty when Tessa is chained up, struggling with her loyalty to "corporate" versus her respect for Tessa. Despite her cold exterior, J has moments of vulnerability, particularly when confronted with those she cares about.
- Morally Flexible: J’s true motivations come to light in the finale, where she reveals her knowledge of Cyn's murder of Tessa. Instead of seeking revenge, she aids Cyn in the destruction of Copper 9, prioritizing self-preservation and aligning herself with the "winning team" to avoid being killed. Her decision to distance herself from her former allies, V and N, shows her self-serving nature, as she prioritizes her survival over loyalty to her old comrades.
- Corporate Culture Influenced: According to Liam Vickers, J’s character is heavily shaped by corporate culture. She aligns herself with whichever dominant power is in control, seeking better conditions for herself and her companions, N and V. J prioritizes her own interests above challenging or improving the system, even at a personal cost, showing her unwavering commitment to self-preservation and opportunism.
Relationships
Uzi Doorman
J was a Disassmebly Drone along with V and N that were enemies to the Worker Drones, unlike V and N however, she never turned good, instead being killed by Uzi in PILOT and coming back later as an enemy in Absolute End where Uzi and co. fought and defeated her again.
Serial Designation N
N notes that all the disassembly drones tells him that he's useless and terrible[1]. J specifically tells N how worthless and terrible he is while stepping on him, telling him that she'd kill him herself if the company allowed it[2]. When N questions the exact reason the Disassembly Drones are there and suggests working with the Worker Drones to escape the planet, with J telling him he didn't make a mistake as he finally gave her the excuse she needed to kill him[3]. When N is later alive she and V work together to stop him and fail[4]. J later returns again in Absolute End to fight against Uzi, V, and N and once again loses.

Equipment
Sword
During Home, Tessa used the revolver while J used the sword for combat.
Notable Techniques
Ability | Function/Example |
---|---|
Flight | J possesses large retractable wings equipped with blade-like feathers, allowing for high-speed flight. These wings can also be used to cut and impale targets. |
Corrosive Nanite Acid | The end of J's tail contains a syringe filled with Nanite Acid, which can be injected into targets. |
Extreme Agility and Strength | J is more agile and stronger than the average Worker Drone, thanks to her Disassembly Drone physiology. |
Virus Implant | J has a virus chip designed to terminate any corrupted Disassembly Drone. She implanted this virus in N during "PILOT" when he began questioning JC Jenson's motives. The virus would have killed N had Uzi not intervened and saved him. |
Interchangeable Hands | J can replace her hands with various tools and weapons, including:
- Three claws for impaling and slicing. - A missile launcher, used in pursuit of Doll. - A relay hand for projecting holograms, such as Cyn's plan in "Dead End." - A submachine gun, used against Uzi in the Pilot. - An EMP Generator, also used against Uzi in the Pilot. |
EMP Immunity | J is immune to the effects of electromagnetic pulses, rendering her unaffected by EMP attacks. |
Absolute Solver | After J's destruction in the Pilot episode, the Absolute Solver program activated, beginning the process of reconstructing J's form by collecting material from Worker Drones. |
Other
Standard Tactics: J utilizes fast and quick strikes along with her essential hammerspace of different arsenals while flying.
Weaknesses
- Worker Drones Weaknesses: Worker Drones are weak to extremely bright lights, as it will cause their systems to reboot[169].
- Disassembly Drones Weaknesses: While in the midst of regenerating their heads, if the disassembly drones head is damaged, they will have errors with their scanners[170], and lose their memory of the past three hours[171], though once their system reboot is complete, their errors and memories will be restored[172]. Disassembly Drones kill and eat the Worker Drones in order to drink their oil in order to avoid overheating and dying[173], this is further confirmed by the creator of the series that they are intentionally super inefficient without proper self-cooling[174]. Depending on the Disassembly Drone's mind, they can shoot out love hearts instead of a light beam, which could cost them during a fight[175]. Disassembly Drones are weak to the light of the sun[176]. Disassembly Drones are very weak to bright lights, as it causes a reboot in their systems[177].
Trivia
- J is the only Disassembly Drone to have been shown destroyed beyond regeneration and later reconstructed.
- She has artistic abilities, as shown in "Home".
- J is the only Disassembly Drone to be shown using their EMP generator.
- In the Season 1 Teaser, when asked the question "Is J dead?", Liam Vickers responded with nervous stuttering and an "Uh-oh!", implying her eventual return, which would come true in "The Promening".
- As shown in the announcement video for the Glitch Inn, J was originally meant to be male.
- J, along with her teammate, V, were one of two characters to know before the reveal that astronaut Tessa was Cyn, as confirmed and heavily implied by their dialogue in "Absolute End".
- From Liam Vickers' perspective, J views herself as a competent leader and the responsible one among her trio with N and V. She believes that she has sacrificed a lot to keep the group together, seeing herself as a thankless leader and/or older sibling who does not receive the recognition she deserves.
