~ Tessa confronting Cyn in the Gala during Home |
Background
Tessa James Elliott, often just called Tessa, was the posthumous central figure of Murder Drones and inadvertently played a role in humanity's destruction.
Tessa was the daughter of James and Louisa Elliott. Her parents salvaged various discarded Worker Drones from a nearby dump, repurposing them as her companions and servants at Elliott Manor. Tessa formed a particularly strong bond with Serial Designation N, V, J, and Cyn, who were all influenced by the Absolute Solver's power over her body.

Appearance
- General Description:
Tessa is portrayed as a dark silhouette with white glowing eyes, resembling all humans in the series. She has a slender physique and a relatively tall stature, taller than the Worker Drones but not fully matured. Her hair is black, styled into downward twin tails, each secured with a hair band at the lower end.
- Facial Features:
Her face is undefined in most depictions, as she appears as a silhouette. However, based on her hybrid form, Tessa had black hair and light skin. Her eye color is undetermined.
- Clothing/Outfit:
Tessa is often depicted in a short, dark dress with half short cap sleeves with ruffled cuffs. She also has a waistband with a bow, heels, and a large tilted black bow behind her hair.
- Special Features:
- Tessa's silhouette shows glowing white eyes, typical of all humans in the series. - Her appearance is notably hybridized when her corpse is grafted onto Cyn's Worker Drone body, where her face bears enlarged eye sockets with glowing yellow X symbols. - Three intestine-like tentacles protrude from her back, arranged similarly to the Absolute Solver Translate symbol, aiding her movement. - Tessa's skin is in the early stages of decomposition.
- Alternate Forms/Disguises:
- Astronaut Disguise (Solver):
The Solver, disguised as Tessa, wears a tinted astronaut helmet with a rainbow and smiley face sticker on the visor. She also sports a JCJenson-branded cap, a tilted black bow, and a short-sleeved white crop-top jacket over a shiny silver leotard. She wears yellow-tipped white gloves and silver pants with knee-high strapped boots. A golden name tag is visible, and she carries a broadsword attached with silver straps, along with a revolver at her hip.
- Hybrid Form:
Tessa shares an appearance with Cyn, with her corpse grafted onto Cyn's Worker Drone body. Her face now includes gaping eye sockets with yellow X-shaped glowing symbols. Her human hands are draped over Cyn's robotic hands, and her skin shows signs of decomposition.
Personality
- Lively and Kind-Hearted Youth: In her youth, Tessa was a lively and kind-hearted individual, though with a somewhat morbid streak. Her childhood room décor hinted at her darker tendencies. Tessa was asocial, showing little interest in interacting with other humans. She often expressed that she "only ever talked to robots," indicating her preference for the company of machines over people.
- Affinity for Drones: Tessa had a special connection to drones, which she preferred to human interaction. She spent much of her time with them, often fixing broken drones and giving them names, as well as adding human hair to them, a practice that others found strange. Despite her parents' disapproval, Tessa's fondness for drones was unwavering, and she often seemed to have a particular bond with N.
- Impersonation by the Solver: As an adult, Tessa was initially portrayed by the Solver as a serious and intimidating figure, especially at the end of "The Promening." The Solver mimicked Tessa's confidence, exclaiming pride in controlling "human-made security," though it was clear she lacked actual control over the Sentinels. The Solver's portrayal was both confident and somewhat immature, as it still reflected Tessa's childish behaviors, such as spinning N around—something Tessa had done as a child.
Relationships
Uzi Doorman
Uzi never trusted Tessa as she questioned what a human was doing on the planet, but had to work with her to find out what was going on with her and more of the truth. Tessa attempts to manipulate N into letting her kill Uzi or having her fully be controlled by the Absolute Solver. When Uzi was separate from N she tried to kill her before N intervened and cut her head off.

Trivia
- Steph Crothers, her voice actor, has confirmed that Tessa is an Australian/Aussie[68].
- The gun Tessa acquired in "Home" was a black powder Colt 1851 Navy Revolver, although it was treated as a cartridge-converted version in the episode.
- If one looks closely, Tessa and Cyn appear to share the same hairstyle (albeit in different colors), foreshadowing their later fusion of appearance and identity used to fool the main cast by the Absolute Solver.
- In the present, Tessa's jacket has an emblem on its right shoulder that shows Earth and six symbols which seem to represent the human exoplanets. The emblem has Earth and five of the other symbols crossed out, with only one (presumably Copper 9) left.
- There are a few discrepancies between Tessa's appearance in the show and her design in concept art:
- Tessa and Cyn are both depicted with small bows on the ends of their hair in the official art. However, there are no bows shown on them in the show.
- Tessa's hybrid form's tentacles appear serrated (and barbed) and in the official art, similar to the tentacles of the hearts of Solver-infected drones. In contrast, these tentacles are smooth in the show.
- During the flashback in "Home", when Tessa notices N in the gala room, she throws down a glass and runs up to him, grabbing him by his face as she spins him around. In "Dead End", Cyn, who at the time was there watching the entire interaction, mimicked this very moment while masquerading as adult Tessa - she acted as though she was glad that N remembered her from when he was a simple Worker Drone, but was cut off as she complained about the air being toxic despite wearing a suit to protect her from the elements.
- Tessa's hybrid appearance was foreshadowed in the "It came from Copper 9!" poster revealed after the release of "Dead End". Behind Doll, there was an unidentified creature with an evil grin and X's on both eyes. This has since been revealed to be the Absolute Solver wearing Tessa's melded body from within Cyn.
- Liam Vickers stated that the hair Tessa used for her drones was actually hair that she'd collected from human corpses found in the swamp surrounding her home, or by digging up graves in the family cemetery built on the plot, which she later bleached. In the series proper, this is only briefly hinted at by the human bones in Tessa's room.
- In the teaser image for "Home" in which Tessa appears in a portrait standing next to Cyn, she is holding a shovel, which also hints at her graverobbing habits.
