Background

Pit (ピット) is the main character and protagonist of Kid Icarus. He is Palutena's most loyal servant and leader of her royal bodyguard, the Icarus army. During the first game, Palutena was locked away in Skyworld temple by Medusa during a war between the Underworld army and the Icarus army, which resulted in an easy victory for the Underworld due to a surprise attack, leaving Pit the last remaining angel and the only one capable of saving Palutena by retrieving the Three Sacred Treasures. After successfully acquiring them, Pit defeats Medusa and saves Palutena, returning peace to Angel Land.

Some time after the war between the two goddesses, Palutena has a horrid dream of demonic beings known as the Orcos that plan to bring chaos to Angel Land. After learning of this, Palutena tasks Pit to traverse through the Underworld, Overworld, and Skyworld to once again earn the power of the Three Sacred Treasures to become Amazing Pit and defeat the ominous Orcos for good.

Roughly twenty-five years later, the events of the most recent title, Kid Icarus Uprising, lead to another war between Palutena and Medusa, which reveals the true master of the Underworld and his plans to turn the souls of all living things into an undead army of Underworld troops. This leads to many events during the war, such as an alien invasion in which all gods must come together to fight them off, the Chaos Kin's espace which leads to a three-year time skip, the creation of Dark Pit from the Mirror of Truth's destruction, and even Pit receiving his most powerful weapon, the Great Sacred Treasure, which he uses to defeat Hades, end the war, and bring peace to the universe for supposedly another twenty-five years until Hades returns.

Standard Tactics:

Pit will typically use his longbow for all forms of combat, including melee where he can utilize his protective crystals to punish those in radius like a damaging shield and use his various drinks to heal if he takes enough damage (If he gets too low on health, his weaponry will begin to fail, which is why Pit prioritizes avoiding damage). Alternatively, he can transmutate his foes into mallets with the harp. If Pit ends up dying, Palutena will resurrect him shortly afterwards and possibly grant him the Three Sacred Treasures if they are available.

Pit will begin the battle airborne for five minutes (His maximum flight time with Palutena's blessings), where he flies on a pre-set flight path and uses his various weapons to overwhelm his opponent from a safe distance, eventually using his blessings if the battle proves to be tougher than anticipated. After the five minutes, he'll land a safe distance from his opponent and repeat the same strategy while grounded, using his various abilities to track his opponent and exploit their weaknesses.

Similarly to his airborne strategy, Pit will remain airborne indefinitely, overwhelming his opponent with an onslaught of different projectiles.

Weaknesses: If he uses too much of Palutena's Blessings (I.e Power of Flight) his wings will burn up, causing him to die beyond typical resurrection. Very reliant on Palutena for advice, equipment, and guidance. | Same with the Sacred Treasures minus the flight limitations due to having unrestricted flight

Note: Due to Sakurai being the prime developer for both Kid Icarus Uprising and Super Smash Bros., we can take Pit and co's abilities and dialogue as a secondary canon for Kid Icarus's lore since Palutena's guidance stays relative to Kid Icarus's story and even further fleshed it out.

Note 2: Saving and loading in Kid Icarus can be active once characters get a game over, or wish to return to prior points in the timeline. Saving has been mentioned by several major characters. If the game ends for the current playable character, they can simply come back. A "game over" doesn't only stop at a death. A game over can also be the characters making the wrong choices, getting trapped in a separate universe, possessed, and incapacitation (such as falling forever in an endless void or left completely helpless). This ability can be used passively and across multiple incarnations of the characters. Do also note that a player canonically exists, so saving and loading is not a stretch.

Note 3: Pit grows in power between his first two games and Uprising to the point Hades notes Pit from his early years would have never made it as far as he did and Pit mentions him and Palutena being rookies during the events of the first game.
