For too long, you've fed on the misery of others. You stole from me everything precious and dear. But no more. It ends now.

Background

Tapion is described as a "legendary hero" from a planet named Konats.

This dropdown contains the synopsis of Tapion’s story. Read at your own risk as you may be spoiled otherwise!

A thousand years ago, Tapion and his younger brother Minotia were ordinary Konatsians, living on the peaceful planet of Konats. However, one day, a group of black magicians known as the Kashvar performed an ancient ritual that revived a statue, the ruthless and enormous monster Hirudegarn. With no sense of reason, Hirudegarn would eventually use his incredible power to destroy the planet Konats.

During the battle between Hirudegarn and the Konatsians, Tapion and Minotia used their Hero's Flutes to hold Hirudegarn at bay. Given this opportunity, a wizard (identified as the Guardian of Konats in Daizenshuu 6) brandished an enchanted sword and used it to slice Hirudegarn in half. Tapion, Minotia and the wizard were then known as Great Heroes among the Konatsians.

To ensure Hirudegarn's eternal imprisonment, Tapion and Minotia agreed to have their bodies guard each spirit of Hirudegarn (his top half went to Tapion and his bottom half to Minotia). They were then enclosed in mystical music boxes and dispatched to the distant parts of the universe. Minotia was sent to an unknown planet, while Tapion was sent to Earth.

Wrath of the Dragon
Unfortunately, a Kashvar named Hoi would go off in search for Tapion's and Minotia's music boxes in order to free them and unleash Hirudegarn once again. Hoi plots to use Hirudegarn's destructive powers to take over the universe. With the help of the Dragon Team (Goku, Gohan, Videl, Krillin, Goten, Vegeta, and Trunks) and Shenron, Hoi manages to free Tapion from the music box (Hoi has not revealed his true intentions to the Z Warriors). But Tapion, furious, storms off, determined to stay alone in order to ensure the imprisonment of Hirudegarn's top half. He is visited regularly by Trunks, who has taken a liking to him and brings him food, but Tapion refuses to eat and always shuns Trunks away.

However, after seeing the bottom half of Hirudegarn invade the city, Tapion comes to aid Gohan and Videl by playing the magical tune on his enchanted ocarina, which weakens and absorbs Hirudegarn's bottom half into his own body. Leaving the battlefield, Tapion comes to believe that Hoi has already killed Minotia.

Later on, while Trunks is visiting Tapion, Hoi attempts to steal the ocarina from Tapion and tell Trunks that Tapion is the true monster, but Trunks does not believe him, and instead gives the flute back to Tapion. Tapion then befriends Trunks and asks him to dine with him.

Tapion and Trunks then form a friendship, and Tapion is invited to stay at Capsule Corporation, by Trunks. Tapion explains the whole story to Bulma, and she announces that she will try to re-create the broken music box so that Tapion can finally rest, much to Tapion's delight. Tapion tries sleeping inside the new music box/chamber, but it is still no use, and Hirudegarn manages to get free from Tapion's body. Now whole, Hirudegarn has finally returned and Tapion's nightmare has come true. For a while, Tapion manages to use his flute to absorb Hirudegarn's spirit once again, but Hirudegarn would soon be free. Tapion begs Trunks to slay him with the sword (Tapion and Minotia were Konatsian Knights who always carried swords), but Trunks ultimately hesitated to kill his "big brother", and Hirudegarn is free once again. To Tapion's horror, the flute shatters.

After accidentally killing Hoi, Hirudegarn goes on a rampage throughout the city, battling the warriors Goku, Gohan, Goten, Trunks and Vegeta, but it is no use. Even Gotenks (the fusion of Goten and Trunks) is not enough to stop Hirudegarn (Gotenks manages to destroy Hirudegarn's first form, but he evolves into a more powerful, insect-like behemoth). Eventually, Hirudegarn is distracted while attacking the others, and he is destroyed for good when Goku (as a Super Saiyan 3) sees his chance to pierce through Hirudegarn's chest with a Dragon Fist, obliterating the monster forever.

To go home, Tapion uses a Time Machine (similar to the one used by Future Trunks) to travel back to Konats. As a gift, Tapion gives his sword to Trunks, says goodbye to Trunks, and goes one thousand years back in time to his home.

Codex Statistics

Tier: At most 6-C, Far Higher with Brave Sword

Cardinality: Finite

Dimensionality: 3-D

Attack Potency: At most Island level (Son Goku notes that he has an incredible ki.[1] Son Goku far prior in base fought against restrained Broly, along with being unimpressed by Dabura's power, despite directly comparing him to Super Perfect Cell, to the point where he doesn't even consider him strong, ho is far superior to his Semi-Perfect form, who destroyed several islands with several blast. Is able to keep half of Hirudegarn's body in him for a good amount of time, where even his lower half could harm the likes of Son Gohan. Despite never directly fighting, Tapion is viewed as a cool and strong hero by kid Trunks, which should at least make him comparable to or stronger then him. Kid Trunks is stronger then Son Goten, who both his and Goten's powers surprised Android 18, who casually defeated super saiyan Vegeta and Future Trunks, making her far above the likes of Nappa who casually destroyed a city and stood within the blast without having any damage, and Raditz who can cause explosions dwarfing the mountains, which results in these levels of energy), Far Higher with Brave Sword (Tapion's sword was capable of cutting off transformed Hirudegarn's tail. Even his lower half could harm the likes of Mystic Son Gohan, with his complete form being noted to be faster and stronger then ever. Mystic Gohan was able to easily defeat Super Buu)

Durability: At most Island level, Far Higher with Barrier (The barrier was completely unaffected by transformed Hirudegarn's fire breath), Higher with Guard Up (Ki allows a fighter to extend beyond their bodies limits, allowing them to even block attacks that would otherwise kill them from raising their guard)

Striking Strength: At most Island Class

Lifting Strength: At most Class 50 (Is comparable to Super Saiyan 3 Son Goku, who is superior to his Super Saiyan Buu Saga self, who could casually fight while carrying 40 tons)

Travel Speed: Massively Hypersonic+ (Superior to Super Saiyan Son Goku on Namek, who previously in his base form traveled from Frieza's ship over to Vegeta in this timeframe)

Combat Speed: Massively Hypersonic+

Reaction Speed: Massively Hypersonic+ (Far beyond 22nd Budokai Son Goku, who could dodge a mouth blast from Tambourine, which he used to tag the flying nimbus where even post King Kai training Goku used the flying nimbus to make it to the saiyans implying it is at least comparable to his flight speed by then, with Goku being capable of traveling over a million of kilometers in two days which results in these speeds)

Stamina: Superhuman+ (Could go several nights without sleeping and kept Hirudegarn in his body for over hundreds of years before Hirudegarn eventually escaped)

Range: Standard Melee Range, Extended Melee Range with Brave Sword, Interstellar with Ki Attacks (Ki attacks can reach out of the planet and to other planets. All ki attacks should be comparable to Goku's kamehameha, which reached all the way to the sun)

Intelligence: Unknown (With the legendary hero status and aiding in the selaing of Hirudegarn, it's unknown where his intelligence lies)

Powers and Techniques

Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Chi Manipulation & Ki Manipulation (All beings in Dragon Ball have ki, the very life force energy of all characters, ki allows a fighter to extend beyond their bodies limits, allowing them to even block attacks that would otherwise kill them from raising their guard, higher level users can lower their own durability to allow people far below them to fatally wound them. A users ki aura can exert itself as a weapon to attack), Attack Reflection (All Ki users are able to reflect attacks just by being stronger than their opponent. Examples include, Nappa deflecting a masenko from Son Gohan, Son Gohan being able to bounce back the spirit bomb, Son Goku deflecting a crusher ball from Jeice, Frieza deflecting a Final Burst Cannon from Vegeta, Son Goku reflecting multiple death beams back to back from Frieza, and Future Trunks being able to completely repel an energy blast with his hand from a Frieza Soldier just by being much stronger than them), Homing Attack (Ki users can create attacks that will home in and chase a target forever), Mind Manipulation (Characters can link their ki together and train within each other’s mind enacting in image training), Power Absorption & Transferal (Ki users can transfer their ki to others and absorb the ki given to them from others), Aura (Has an aura of ki surrounding him whenever he exerts ki), Vibration Manipulation (Powerful ki users can cause the very ground itself to shake when they power up), Intimidation, Metaphysics Manipulation & Pain Manipulation (Spirit Manipulation; Ki is the manifestation of one’s lifeforce, along with the aura giving one the feeling of being crushed, exerting fear into the target, sometimes making them incapable of moving as their body is instinctively stuck due to the sheer difference in power), Energy Manipulation (Ki is the latent power in one's body, this latent power allows them to form and create energy from controlling their ki, which can be used to shoot out energy blast), Explosion Manipulation (Ki attacks can create massive explosions, control the ki to set off a huge explosion under the enemy, or in front of them), Heat Manipulation (Ki user's ki attacks produce heat allowing them to cook and grill animals and raw meat[2][3], along with leaving behind steam after the attacks hit an area, showing its latent heat), Nullification (Attack Nullification; Those with ki can nullify attacks of lesser ki with their ki alone. They can also catch and nullify ki attacks around their level through focusing enough[4]. Power Nullification; Through having greater ki, one can nullify the powers done through ki attacks, such as Frieza being able to nullify a hakai ball[5], which fully destroys a target[6], though he is unable to resist a hakai ball from Toppo due to him being stronger[7], this ability however only works on ki, attacks unrelated, characters cannot resist through being stronger, such as how Vegeta, Krillin, & Son Gohan are unable to resist Guldo's psychic powers, along with even the likes of Son Goku), Forcefield Creation (Ki users such as Cell can generate forcefields around themselves. These forcefields can be expanded, and used to protect others and defend against attacks far higher then the user), Super Armor (Through releasing one's ki, they enter a state known as "Hyper Mode", in this state they do not flinch from weak melee attacks), Self-Destruction (Ki users in Dragon Ball are able to release all of the energy within them to cause a massive self-destruction of energy that normally kills the user and turns them into dust though one can control it to surviving but having no stamina or energy left), Light Manipulation (Ki can be used as a flash of light), Non-Standard Interaction (Those with ki can block intangible attacks when they focus and notices them[8]), Healing (Ki can be used to heal beings, allowing them to survive even with half their torso, it can also heal from near death), Fusionism (Tapion can perform the Fusion Dance).

Limited Resistance to Durability Negation (Ki users can focus their energy to localize an object to a specific spot to stop them from attempting to destroy their organs/insides), Resistance to Poison Manipulation (Can resist poisons through Forcefield Creation[9])
Weapon Mastery (Sword Mastery; Tapion is the legendary hero who should be a expert user of his brave sword), Longevity (Could stay sealed within a music box for over a thousand years), Acrobatics, Flight (Shown to fly here), Sealing (With his ocarina, can seal an enemy within him), Barrier Creation (With his ocarina, can create a barrier that's strong enough to block Hirudegarn's fire breath), Afterimage Creation (Can create afterimages to quickly avoid attacks), Energy Projection (With brave cannon, throws a giant energy attack at the opponent), Curtain Fire (With Brave Slash, shoots multiple sword beams at the opponent to overwhelm them)

Equipment

  • Brave Sword: An enchanted sword owned by Tapion, previously used to defeat Hirudegarn. Later given to Trunks.
  • Ocarina: A mystical potato-shaped flute used by Tapion to previously defeat Hirudegarn. Later shatters upon Hirudegarn's escape from Tapion's body.

Notable Techniques

  • Flight: The ability to fly with the use of ki.
  • Ki Blast: The most basic form of energy wave.
  • Brave Cannon: Tapion throws a large, powerful ball of ki. It is one of his Blast 2 in the Budokai Tenkaichi series.
  • Brave Slash: Tapion slashes the opponent with sharp ki attacks created by his sword. It is one of his Blast 2 in the Budokai Tenkaichi series.
  • Brave Sword Attack: Tapion slashes the opponent, then he slices them in half. Tapion's Ultimate Blast in the Budokai Tenkaichi series. This technique was originally used by his master, the Konatsian Wizard, to cut Hirudegarn in half.
  • Hero's Flute: Tapion plays a song on his ocarina that creates a barrier of mystical energy around him. It is one of his Blast 1 in the Budokai Tenkaichi series.
    • Sealing Spell: A spell he plays from his flute to seal an enemy into his body.
  • Afterimage Technique: One of Tapion's Blast 1 in the Budokai Tenkaichi series. Tapion is able to instantly move at rapid speed, making him able to dodge incoming attacks.

Other

Standard Tactics: Tapion will attempt to attack the enemy with his sword, if they are seen as an unbeatable opponent, he will seal them.

Weaknesses: Due to the nature of ki draining stamina and energy, Dragon Ball characters ki usage requires them to usually use their higher levels of energy in short bursts, allowing them to not be able to tank or die to far lower attacks such as attacks that have destroyed the planets of several worlds. Originally he faced immense amounts of pressure from trying to make it so Hirudegarn would not escape his body, otherwise nothing notable.

Note: Due to Tapion barely attacking in the movie as he already knew none of his regular techniques could beat Hirudegarn, his moveset from the Budokai Tenkaichi series is used as very likely moves he'd have apart of his arsenal.

Note 2: The speed scaling for PLs are taken with a grain of salt as there are noticeable times where someone's speed isn't equal to their power, such as Burter being faster then Recoome and Jeice, along with Super Saiyan Grade 3 Trunks having his power greatly increased but his speed decreased.

  1. Note: While it may be argued that Goku was sensing Hirudegarn's ki, this is highly unlikely as when they fight against Hirudegarn later in the movie, Goku is noticeably shocked to see him and doesn't comment on it being the same ki
