Background

Jupiter is one of the second four Stardroids that Mega Man must fight in Mega Man V. He is equipped with a jetpack that he uses to fly at very fast speeds and likes to combine his swift flight with dynamic acrobatics, but his not-so-serious personality makes him somewhat an annoyance to his allies and he also tends to lose valuable things quite often. In ancient times, he was equipped with megaton grade bombs, but as they were too dangerous for him indoors, it was modified to channel energy for his new main weapon, the Electric Shock, a huge beam of raw electricity. He dislikes turbulence while flying fast and his weakness is the Bubble Bomb.

This dropdown contains the synopsis of Jupiter’s story. Read at your own risk as you may be spoiled otherwise!

Jupiter's attack strategy is very simple and easy to avoid. He starts the battle by flying and hovering over Mega Man and, after a short time, he fires the Electric Shock directly downards, a large and powerful beam of electricity (being invincible while doing so) and then four small sparks that go diagonally in different directions each and deal minor damage. He then dives over Mega Man to make contact with him, and restart his strategy. Every one of his attacks can be avoided by just being on the opposite side of the screen from him. He is most vulnerable to attack when he dives to attack Mega Man.

Jupiter's weakness is the Bubble Bomb, which can float up and explode on Jupiter even when he is flying high. However, he is still invincible to it when he is using the Electric Shock. It defeats Jupiter in seven hits.

Notable Techniques

  • Electric Shock: Electric Shock is Jupiter's special weapon from Mega Man V. Jupiter sends out a short-range electrical bolt from his hand, damaging anything that gets in its way. It can be used continuously. Each electric bolt lasts for approximately one second.

Standard Tactics: Jupiter will fly around, using the electric shock and shooting energy attacks, along with ramming into the enemy.

Weaknesses: Has a weakness to Venus' bubble bomb. If his data is corrupted, he will be incapable of coming back.

Trivia

  • Jupiter is named after the planet Jupiter, which is named after the Roman god of sky and thunder of the same name, fitting his ability to fly and use electric attacks. Also, the eagle is one of Zeus's symbols, so Jupiter's avian design may also be referencing this.
