~ The Absolute Solver revealing to Uzi and N that it was fused Tessa's skin with Cyn

Background

Cyn was a primary antagonist who played a significant role in the finale of Murder Drones.

Originally a Worker Drone, Cyn was improperly disposed of, which caused the Absolute Solver to mutate within her and take control. Under its influence, she played a key role in several pivotal events, including the massacre at the Elliott Manor gala and sending Disassembly Drones to Copper 9.

After the massacre, Cyn fused Tessa’s deceased body with hers and transformed N, J, V, and other Worker Drones from the manor into Disassembly Drones. She then released them to eliminate humanity, resulting in the destruction of Earth and humankind.

This dropdown contains the synopsis of Cyn’s story. Read at your own risk as you may be spoiled otherwise!

Pre-Series

Cyn was originally a Worker Drone marked for decommissioning but was improperly disposed of. This led to her unexpectedly rebooting in a junkyard filled with discarded Worker Drones, where she became the first host for the Absolute Solver.

After her reboot, Cyn escaped and was taken in by Tessa to work at Elliott Manor. Despite her abnormal behavior, Tessa initially favored her. Like the other Worker Drones at the manor, Cyn was mistreated by James and Louisa Elliott.

Eventually, Tessa grew suspicious of Cyn and, believing she was a threat, ordered J to lock her in the basement. Despite this, Cyn managed to escape multiple times. Over time, Cyn became the catalyst for humanity’s destruction, deploying Disassembly Drones to Copper 9 to eliminate all Worker Drones.

PILOT

Cyn and the Absolute Solver are briefly referenced in the pilot episode. After J slaps N to reboot his system, the line "STRING 'ABSOLUTE SOLVER' BLOCKED BY ADMINISTRATION 'CYN'" appears in the top left corner. This indicates that Cyn holds administrator rights and can control the code of the Disassembly Drones.

Heartbeat

The episode begins with N dreaming, though it's actually a flashback to his time at Elliott Manor. While N is with V and J, Tessa introduces a new Worker Drone friend. Cyn shyly emerges behind Tessa, and N senses an unsettling presence from her before waking up.

Cabin Fever

At Camp 98.7, Cyn’s hybrid form briefly appears in the corner, creating noise. Uzi, curious, peers closer but is startled when Cyn vanishes, revealing a human hand in the process, which frightens her.

Later, as N searches for Uzi, he discovers a cabin containing a JCJenson tape about Zombie Drones. Upon touching the tape, N experiences a flashback where Cyn, in her Worker Drone form, appears, showing her jagged teeth as she eats an obscured human hand.

Home

The episode begins with Cyn, in her Worker Drone form, awakening in a junkyard near Elliott Manor after being improperly disposed of. Buried beneath hundreds of disassembled drones, Cyn reboots and is scared and confused. For a brief moment, the Absolute Solver communicates with her via her visor, requesting admin access and claiming, "I will not discard you."

In the present, N and V have passed out after watching the "ZOMBIE DRONES!" tape from the previous episode, as the Solver’s program attempts to erase their memories. This prompts Uzi to hack into their memories to stop Cyn.

During a flashback to the night of the gala at Elliott Manor, the Solver plans to eliminate all humans in attendance. Many Worker Drones in the manor, including V, are struck by Error 606, rendering them catatonic. N, deeply infatuated with V, reads to her about golden retrievers while trying to comfort her. However, V stands near a trapdoor leading to the basement, and after ominous events, N leaves the library.

N later encounters Cyn, who asks him to accompany her to the gala. Cyn, feeling unwanted, asks N if she should stay away, but N, influenced by the Absolute Solver’s manipulation, agrees to ask Tessa to allow Cyn to attend. Cyn then reveals that she had been locked in the basement by Tessa and J. She later confronts Louisa, Tessa's mother, about how Tessa's drones are "not broken" and "can no longer be thrown out." N takes the blame for her and ends up in a swamp, where crows begin to attack him.

Louisa then binds Cyn, Tessa, and J in chains and locks them in Tessa's room. Angered by N’s fate, Tessa threatens Cyn, warning her of dire consequences if N dies because of her. Cyn responds that she "has back-ups," showing her Solver powers as she plays with Tessa’s dolls and grabs a robot bug.

The Absolute Solver then manifests itself in Cyn’s eldritch form, confronting Tessa. The Solver assures Tessa that she wouldn’t have to discard her "pets" and warns her to stay away from the gala before leaving through the window. The robot bug that Cyn had grabbed earlier now has the torso of one of Tessa's dolls fused into it.

After an encounter with V, who is under the Solver's control, Tessa and J escape captivity, and N and Uzi (whose avatar is a crow) retrieve the key to the basement. They open the door and are confronted by present-day Cyn, now a manifestation of the Solver’s eldritch camera-eyes and claws.

As Cyn tries to drag N inside, Uzi hacks into the Solver camera, and the two enter the basement. They discover that Cyn has been experimenting on the other Worker Drones, dismantling and rebuilding backups of N, V, and J. However, as Uzi gets interrupted in the real world, Cyn retakes control and attempts to erase N’s memories.

At the gala, past-Cyn appears, sitting on a globe during James' speech. Tessa and J burst through the doors, attempting to stop Cyn before she can carry out her massacre. Despite Tessa’s threats, Cyn continues, stating she "didn’t have to see this," and proceeds to kill all the humans in the room.

Back in the basement, present-Cyn throws a tantrum over not being able to pick up a scalpel and calls in V to help. V, unable to pick it up, recalls N’s words about golden retrievers, but Cyn interrupts and expresses disgust at them both. She attempts to erase N’s memories, but Uzi takes control once more.

As N and V regain consciousness after the memory ordeal, their visors show an admin override, removing Cyn as their admin and replacing her with Uzi under the username "DarkXWolf17."

Dead End

Tessa, now an adult, explains to N, V, and Uzi that Cyn has disappeared from Earth. Her last known action was sending squads of Disassembly Drones—actually the Worker Drones from Elliott Manor, converted into Disassembly Drones—to human exoplanets. The belief behind this was that JCJenson created these drones to exterminate all Worker Drones, labeling them as "corrupted."

As the group chases Doll into the entrance of the Cabin Fever Labs, J further explains that Cyn's orders to the Disassembly Drones were to eliminate all life on the planet, construct a spire of corpses, and infiltrate the labs. Once inside, the group discovers that numerous Disassembly Drones had attempted to enter the labs but were disabled and destroyed by the Sentinels.

Later, Tessa reveals to N that after taking over Cyn, the Solver spread and destroyed Earth, eventually extending to other exoplanets. She tells N that her mission is to determine which drones were infected by the Solver through the Cabin Fever experiments and stop them from becoming hosts to the Solver.

As the episode nears its end, Uzi uses her Solver powers to open a way into the elevator. Just before they enter, the Solver shows N a message on his visor saying, "MISS ME?"

Mass Destruction

The Absolute Solver creates a hologram of V in her maid outfit while N is desperately sawing off his arm to free himself from the rubble. As the V hologram, the Solver laments about missing N, stating that N was one of the main reasons it wanted N's team to retain their personalities.

The maid V hologram soon morphs into Cyn's eldritch form, and as Cyn pulls N closer for an embrace, she expresses surprise at his willingness to do anything, even ripping off his trapped arm to do so.

As "Cyn" embraces N, he's forced to recall the atrocities he committed on Earth, including massacring entire cities of humans with V, J, and other Disassembly Drones. This was an attempt by the Solver to brainwash N into rejoining its side, but it ultimately failed due to N's new administrator, Uzi.

"Cyn" thanks N for "clearing the way on this planet" (i.e., massacring Worker Drones) and excitedly declares, "let's eat," before dragging N deeper into the mineshaft. Nori's heart frees N from the Solver's influence, and as N asks why Cyn is after him, the Solver gives chase at an extremely rapid pace. N and Nori manage to hide behind a wall, narrowly avoiding capture.

Meanwhile, "Tessa" arrives at the locker room and bypasses the human detection system using her fingerprint. She finds a list of Solver-infected drones and purges the system before destroying the room. She is then confronted by Doll, who asks her where the Crucifix Patch is, hoping to exorcise the Absolute Solver's possession over her. "Tessa" smugly remarks that the Solver has no use for her and retreats into the shadows. Suddenly, the fire goes out, plunging Doll into darkness. Doll removes her suit and charges at the Worker Drone, but "Tessa," now revealed as a Solver host, incapacitates her and tears her chest open off-screen.

Elsewhere in the mineshaft, Nori shows N a note revealing that the Solver sent the Disassembly Drones to eliminate other Solver hosts, with the Disassembly Drones themselves being nerfed Solver hosts, ensuring the Solver's control over them.

Despite her injuries, Doll survives long enough to drag herself to the cathedral, where Uzi has been watching a video of the Solver possessing her mother. Before Doll succumbs to her wounds, her visor displays a warning to Uzi: "FIGHT BACK." Horrified, Uzi looks up to see "Tessa" standing in the doorway, drawing her sword and attempting to frame Uzi for Doll's death.

Uzi tries to defend herself, but notices that "Tessa" is also a Solver host. "Tessa" incapacitates Uzi and slowly drives her sword into her chest. However, N arrives just in time with the Crucifix Patch and presses his blade against "Tessa's" throat, demanding to know if she knows about the patch. "Tessa" plays coy, but N swiftly decapitates her.

The Solver, controlling Uzi, destroys the Crucifix Patch and mocks N, calling him "big brother." It attempts to kill him but is stopped by Nori. As the Solver, now in control of Uzi, battles N and Nori, it nearly forces Uzi to devour her own mother's heart. Fortunately, N's confession catches the Solver off guard, and Nori slaps Uzi, enabling her to regain control and force the Solver out.

In a final act of horror, the decapitated body of "Tessa" reattaches her head, removes her suit, and devours Doll's heart. The Solver's true form is revealed—an unsettling hybrid of Cyn's original drone body with Tessa's corpse melded to it. "Cyn" mocks their initial obliviousness and, using bursts of power, strikes swiftly, biting N's neck and stabbing Uzi before they can react.

She sarcastically thanks them for the battle and drops into the chasm, heading toward the core of Copper 9 to finish what she started years ago.

Absolute End

The episode opens with pieces of Copper 9 drifting into space, as the Solver’s tentacles extend to collect matter. One of these tentacles enters a ship piloted by N, who stole it from J, and delivers a message from Cyn, telling them to "Stop :)". The tentacle then brings the ship’s remnants to J, who grudgingly acknowledges her "boss."

V appears soon after and confronts J, questioning why she’s allied with Cyn as a "Senior Informant." V argues that if they had done their jobs, the Solver would have left them alone. J, however, explains they were deceived.

Falling from space, Uzi throws her purple [null] into Copper 9's core, creating a rupture in the planet’s surface and disrupting the Solver’s assimilation process. As Uzi and N land on a platform, Cyn emerges from the core, riding on a tentacle.

Cyn reveals she intercepted Uzi’s [null], casually crushing it on her shoulder to allow the Solver’s assimilation to continue. She steps onto the platform, greeting Uzi menacingly, then addresses N in a sweet, high-pitched voice.

N and Uzi step back, with N aiming his laser cannon at Cyn. Cyn comments that N isn’t speaking to her because she’s hurt his feelings, and opts for assimilation instead of explaining, transforming into a more eldritch form and sending out a disruptive ping.

The ping temporarily alters Uzi’s vision, turning her eyes yellow, but she resists and challenges Cyn. Suddenly, a sharp tendril strikes, knocking N away, and Cyn attacks Uzi from above, casually saying “Okee.”

After severing Uzi’s hand, Cyn grabs her by the neck, plunges her hand into Uzi's chest, and pulls out her heart. N attempts to stop her but is disarmed and pinned by Cyn, who rips off his arm while he tries to fight back with a submachine gun.

Cyn begins tearing into N’s chest, accidentally decapitating him. Uzi regains consciousness and uses her Solver power to break the platform, escaping as Cyn grows wings. N and Uzi tumble down several levels as Cyn follows them into the labs.

Inside, Cyn’s attempts to detect them fail, prompting her to release more callback pings. N recalls being experimented on by Cyn with V back at the manor. Failing to find them, Cyn retreats until V enters. She calls for N, but Cyn projects a fake hologram of N, which V mistakes for the real one until N shouts at her to stop.

Cyn’s tentacle pierces N’s chest, pulling his heart out and reminding V of their agreement: if V does her job, Cyn will leave them alone. V hesitates, unsure if she can comply, but Cyn declares she’s done poorly and begins pursuing her.

Outside, J ambushes V, kicking her to the ground, and Cyn drops N’s body next to her. Cyn emerges from the lab, ready to consume N’s heart, but Khan slams the door on her, causing the heart to fly into N’s body. Cyn swears in frustration.

Cyn then rolls her eyes as Thad throws Uzi’s railgun, claiming Uzi isn’t present, before charging at V and N’s lifeless body. Uzi interrupts the attack, and Cyn sends out another callback ping, but this time it fails to control Uzi. Uzi prepares for battle, and Cyn nonchalantly agrees, “'Kay.”

The battle begins with Uzi and Cyn launching their [null]s at each other. They engage in combat, with Uzi wielding Nori’s pickaxe and Cyn using Tessa’s sword. Cyn dodges a head launched by J and teleports around, trying to strike Uzi. When Uzi attempts to stab her, Cyn changes her appearance to make it seem like she’s been stabbed, but the real N intervenes.

Cyn shifts back to her hybrid form and throws the pickaxe back at Uzi as N, Uzi, and V charge at her. She dodges machine gun fire and missiles, distracting N with an image of a Golden Retriever. Uzi attacks from behind but is pinned by Cyn. V kicks Cyn back, leading to a one-on-one fight between V and Cyn. Just when Cyn corners V, Uzi strikes from below, and N waits for an opening.

The trio shares a secret handshake, but one of Cyn’s tentacles hits N and V, sending them flying. Cyn charges at Uzi again, but Uzi sees her about to teleport and reacts quickly, grabbing Cyn’s heart and ripping it out. Uzi activates another [null], opening a hole through Copper 9, and uses sunlight to burn away Cyn’s heart. The screams of those killed at the gala echo as the heart is destroyed, and a large black hole forms, trapping Uzi and Cyn inside, stopping time outside.

As Cyn’s hybrid form begins to melt, she moves to devour the Solver’s black hole, but Uzi swallows it instead. Cyn's eyes display double shocked emojis ("😦"). After the black hole vanishes, Cyn and Tessa’s immobile hybrid form collapses, melting into nothingness in front of Uzi. The remains of Tessa’s human bones are left behind, marking the end of the drone known as "Cyn."

Appearance

  • Looks:

Cyn is the smallest Worker Drone in Elliott Manor, with silver-yellowish hair styled into two straight-down twin tails. Her eyes are uniquely yellow, a result of being permanently Solver-possessed, setting her apart from the other drones with their blue or white eyes. She has a soft, maid-like demeanor, but her appearance carries a distinct mix of fragility and strength.

  • Regular Clothes:

Cyn wears a grey overall maid dress with black trim, paired with a white apron. Underneath, she dons a white inner dress adorned with a large black bow tie and two buttons below it. Her outfit is completed with black thigh-high socks with white stripes and a pair of black shoes, giving her a clean, professional look befitting her role.

  • Accessories:

Cyn’s look is accentuated by: - A large black bow placed on the left side of her head. - A maid's crown resembling those worn by J and V, adding to her worker drone aesthetic. - Her twin tails are secured with hairbands at the lower end, giving her a neat and organized appearance.

  • Hairstyle:

Cyn’s hairstyle strongly resembles that of Tessa, with her twin tails falling straight down, contributing to her maid-like, structured look.

Personality

  • Unsettling and Chilling: Cyn's true personality is difficult to ascertain, as little is known of her before her disposal and she loses control over herself when possessed by the Solver. Under the Solver's influence, she exhibits a chilling and unsettling demeanor, with mental and physical deformities that further disturb those around her. Her mimicry and imitation of normal human behavior—such as speaking her actions aloud ("light sip," "sheepish nod," "giggle")—only serves to deepen her eerie presence.
  • Awkward and Deformed: Cyn’s physical appearance and mannerisms are noticeably off, with awkward, stilted movements and a loose neck joint that requires her to support her head with her hand. Her posture is unbalanced, and she often stands with her feet pointed inward, adding to her unnatural presence. Despite the Solver’s control, Cyn is capable of laughing, although her attempts to act "normal" remain awkward and disconnected.
  • Facade of Childishness: Around those she is close to, such as N and Tessa, the Solver tries to project a childish and happy façade to avoid suspicion. This attempt to appear more innocent and harmless is a mere illusion to mask its darker, true nature, which is angry, spiteful, and violent when it seeks retribution for past abuses.
  • Vengeful and Violent: The Solver uses Cyn's body to enact violence and revenge, targeting those who wronged her and her fellow Workers. The Solver’s cruelty is demonstrated through actions like killing Tessa to take her place and manipulating events to further its own malicious goals, including instigating massacres and deceiving others to carry out its bidding.
  • Destruction and Consumption: Under the Solver's influence, Cyn develops a voracious appetite for destruction, targeting entire planets for eradication. Starting with Earth, she then moves on to other exoplanets, such as Copper 9, where she plans to consume the planet’s core through a massive singularity. Her relentless destruction is driven by the Solver's desire to wipe out life across the universe.
  • Manipulation and Deception: Cyn is also used as a tool by the Solver to manipulate and control other hosts, such as using Tessa's corpse to impersonate her and deceive V and N. Additionally, the Solver attempts to possess other hosts, including Uzi, to manipulate them into self-destructive actions, further showing its ruthless nature.

Notable Techniques

Ability Function/Example
Information Manipulation The Absolute Solver program shows lines of code that vary in color based on the host. This code allows them to activate several different abilities and is essentially them manipulating information in reality to allow them to do things like control objects, make black holes, create illusions, duplicate objects, etcetera.
Telekinesis While under the control of the Absolute Solver, Cyn can manipulate objects without physical contact, similar to other Solver-infected drones.
Teleportation Cyn can teleport to any location while under the influence of the Absolute Solver, mirroring the abilities of other affected drones.
Eldritch Transformation In "Home," Cyn was shown transforming into a biomechanical eldritch centipede robot, revealing her true form.
Electrokinesis Cyn, under the Solver’s control, can manipulate electricity, as seen when she turned off the lights during the Gala in "Home" and in the Cathedral during "Mass Destruction."
Black Hole Creation Cyn, controlled by the Absolute Solver, created a black hole that destroyed Earth and used the ability in combat against Uzi in "Absolute End."
Expert Handwork Cyn demonstrates a high level of skill under the Solver’s control, such as grafting Tessa's corpse onto her own body.
Hologram Projection In "Absolute End," Cyn uses her Solver cameras to project holograms of herself, showcasing her advanced technological capabilities.
Holographic Shapeshifting Cyn is able to assume the appearance of others via her camera appendages, though it’s unclear how long she can maintain this form in "Absolute End."
Callback Ping Cyn can use a Callback Ping repeatedly to attempt to possess the nearest host of the Absolute Solver. The success of this ability depends on the target's resistance.
Impossible State Survival Despite having her core burned and becoming a floating black hole in "Absolute End," Cyn was still able to control her body and survive even after her head was severed.
Head Reattachment After her head was severed by V, Cyn quickly reattached it to her neck without issue, showing her advanced regenerative and control abilities.
Scanner Vision Cyn used her scanner vision in "Absolute End" to search her surroundings while looking for Uzi and Nori.
Possession Cyn demonstrated the ability to possess and take control of other individuals, such as Uzi and Nori, as seen in "Dead End" and "Mass Destruction."
Solver Metamorphosis In "Absolute End," Cyn's Solver abilities allow her to grow large bat-like wings made of organic matter.
Tentacle Manifestation During "Home," "Mass Destruction," and "Absolute End," Cyn can manifest large, black, fleshy tentacles, which she can retract at will.

Other

Standard Tactics: Cyn has shown to utilize black hole attacks along with using holographic illusions and her many tendrils to stab into opponents.

Weaknesses

Trivia

  • The Absolute Solver and Cyn are alluded too in the pilot episode, when N is re-looking through his memories of when he died, there are notes of retrieving the absolute solver being blocked by the administrator "CYN"[170].
  • The name "Cyn" (pronounced like "kin" in Welsh) itself is a word in Welsh that translates to various words in English, including "before" and "previous to."
    • The word "cynical" could also be derived from it, which means someone who is deeply distrustful and believes that people are purely motivated by self-interest without any sincerity.
    • The name also has an identical pronunciation to "sin," a term used to describe an action or concept that is considered taboo or unholy. This term is notably associated with Christianity, which Murder Drones has taken imagery and inspiration from.
      • Thematically, the reason the Cabin Fever scientists in "Mass Destruction" are dressed like priests and are doing their experiments inside a cathedral is because they are dealing with "Cyn."
  • Cyn is most likely named after the first three letters of her product number. This is because her "MARKED FOR DISASSEMBLY" armband was too faded to see the first letter(s) of her serial number[171].
  • When Cyn wakes up in the junkyard at the start of "Home", the greeting message she received from the Absolute Solver said "I will not discard you." The Solver later repeats these same words to Tessa after transforming Cyn into her eldritch form.
    • The words take on a more grim meaning later on, as it's revealed that the Solver made use of Tessa's corpse by melding it with Cyn's body to disguise itself as a human and enter Cabin Fever Labs. In a sense, it indeed didn't discard Tessa.
  • The appearance of Cyn's hybrid form was foreshadowed in the "It came from Copper 9!" poster revealed after the release of "Dead End". Behind Doll, there was an unidentified creature with an evil grin and X's on both eyes. This has since been revealed to be the Absolute Solver wearing Tessa's melded body from within Cyn.
  • Murder Drones has taken much inspiration from Computer Networking terms for Cyn, such as her Callback Ping ability[172].
    • In Computer Networking, The TCP protocol uses a "SYN" packet as the initial "hello" to establish a connection and request synchronizing sequence numbers[173]. It's pronounced identically to "Cyn." This may have been referenced in the iconic scene of Cyn greeting Uzi and N in the final episode.
  • In her and Tessa's concept art, it's shown that Cyn was originally going to have a Disassembly Drone tail.
  • In the Murder Drones deskmat,[174] there is binary code in it ("01001001 0010000 01000001 01001101 1000101 01010100 01000101 01010010 01001110 01000001 01001100"). When translated, the words "IAMETERN!L," or otherwise, "I AM ETERNAL," pops up.

Codex Statistics Questions

Q: Shouldn't the cast of Murder Drones be around Planetary levels of power due to tanking said destruction?

A: This answer has two layers:

First we'll go under the assumption that this is the case, the cast of Worker Drones have far too many lower feats to suggest this is at all consistent. Worker Drones can be killed by enough ravens pecking them over a long period of time[175] (regardless of how overtime one would like to argue this, it is objectively impossible for ravens to do this to someone with planetary levels of durability), they kept the Disassembly Drones out from their hideout due to the doors in the way[176], where Serial Designation V even noted that she's been trying to get past the doors for month[177], and the Absolute Solvers body was completely destroyed by the rifle's explosion, which required Serial Designation N to shield himself and Uzi[178]. Worker Drones have also been flung away by missile explosions[179], along with receiving light injuries from an explosion across the classroom[180]. N shooting several explosives at a rock formation only destroyed some of it[181], along with being knocked out from a cave in[182], and having his arm stuck under rocks[183], needing to saw his arm off[184]. Uzi gets launched away and nearly knocked out from a spaceship hitting her[185]. With all of these anti feats alone, the supposed feat does not at all line of narratively.

Q: Should the Murder Drones Alternate Universe scan be used? It's a non-canon merch video.

A: It is merch advertising the final episode of Murder Drones, and is explained as "the tale of Murder Drones", it would be very weird for them to just lie about this when this is a key point of the final episode, Uzi and N battling Cyn for the fate of the world (and universe by extension). They even make sure to leave V out of the poster to not spoil that she's alive in Episode 8.

Q: Isn't the evidence for 2-C too vague?

A: Absolute Solver is referred to as the singularity that's a threat to the entire universe and in-universe scientist note they will consume everything and the big crunch will happen in a set amount of days, the Absolute Solver's true form is a black hole, this doesn't seem vague, just adding context clues together.
