“ | WARNING:
"X" IS THE FIRST OF A NEW GENERATION OF ROBOTS WHICH CONTAIN AN INNOVATIVE NEW FEATURE - THE ABILITY TO THINK, FEEL, AND MAKE THEIR OWN DECISIONS. HOWEVER, THIS ABILITY COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS. IF "X" WERE TO BREAK THE FIRST RULE OF ROBOTICS, "A ROBOT MUST NEVER HARM A HUMAN BEING", THE RESULTS WOULD BE DISASTROUS AND I FEAR THAT NO FORCE ON EARTH COULD STOP HIM. APPROXIMATELY 30 YEARS WILL BE REQUIRED BEFORE WE CAN SAFELY CONFIRM HIS RELIABILITY. UNFORTUNATELY I WILL NOT LIVE TO SEE THAT DAY, NOR DO I HAVE ANYONE TO CARRY ON MY WORK. THEREFORE, I HAVE DECIDED TO SEAL HIM IN THIS CAPSULE, WHICH WILL TEST HIS INTERNAL SYSTEMS UNTIL HIS RELIABILITY HAS BEEN CONFIRMED. PLEASE DO NOT DISTURB THE CAPSULE UNTIL THAT TIME. "X" POSSESSES GREAT RISKS AS WELL AS GREAT POSSIBILITIES. I CAN ONLY HOPE FOR THE BEST. SEPTEMBER 18, 20XX T. LIGHT |

Background
Mega Man X, named Rockman X (ロックマンエックス Rokkuman Ekkusu) in Japan, commonly called X (エックス Ekkusu), was the eponymous protagonist of the Mega Man X series. X also served as a guide during the Mega Man Zero series and appeared as Model X in the Mega Man ZX series. He was the successor of the original Mega Man and is Dr. Thomas Light's greatest creation. X is a Maverick Hunter who fought alongside his partners Zero and Axl in order to maintain peace and stability in the world and protect humans and Reploids alike from Maverick attacks, though X would like nothing better than the opportunity to stop fighting. Because of his aversion to violence, X is initially ranked a B-Class Hunter, but he was eventually promoted to S-Class.
X was the first robot to possess free will, sentience, and independent thought; no longer requiring restrictive programming or rules to dictate his behavior; based on technology pioneered by Dr. Light. Dr. Cain, the scientist who found him, was never able to fully analyze X's internal systems and system code. Despite this, Cain was able to replicate X's general architecture, making X the precursor to each and every Reploid brought into production. This made him the proverbial "father" of the current Reploids.
This dropdown contains the synopsis of X’s story. Read at your own risk as you may be spoiled otherwise! |
---|
Note: Credit to Mega Man Knowledge Base PersonalityX was designed by Dr. Light to be a robot who could think and make his own decisions without programming limitations. Unlike the many Reploids based on his design, X is unique in that his consciousness was tested by diagnostics for over 30 years before he was released into the world. This gave him a reinforced sense of justice and mercy, and ensured that he would never willingly harm a human or go Maverick, despite having the unlimited choice to do so. True to his destiny, X is a hot-blooded, committed, and strong-willed robot who has little tolerance for injustice. Despite his gentle demeanor, he is no doormat, and will always stand up for what he believes is right. Though X fights with all his might against Sigma and his Mavericks, he is a pacifist at heart, echoing the wishes of the original Mega Man and Dr. Light. X would like nothing more than for the fighting to be over, and for humans and Reploids to coexist peacefully next to each other, like his creator had always wished. He cares deeply for the victims of war and for his friends who've fought so long with him, especially Zero, whom he regards as his best friend. He even cares for the Mavericks he fights and often tries to reason with them before it comes to violence. However, X is easily frustrated when things go awry, and rarely seems to understand the extreme motives of Sigma and other Mavericks. Although constantly conflicted with the battles he must fight, X always come to terms with the reality of the situation and understands that he must indeed fight in order for the peace he desires to become a reality. Sometimes he requires the influence of friends such as Zero or Axl to keep his motivation going; he temporarily retired after the Nightmare Incident, but returned to the battlefield after watching his allies' efforts. This is flipped during the Zero series, wherein the relationship between X and Zero is reversed as it is X the one who actually supports Zero and encourages him to fight when he is confused or doubtful in his actions. This could be due to the fact of Zero's hibernation amnesia, where X realizes Zero lost most of his full personality from being shut down for over a century. He even returned the Beam Saber to Zero at the start of Mega Man Zero to help save Ciel. HistoryCreation and AwakeningX's creation by the hands of Thomas Light began at some point during the later days of the original Mega Man series, specifically, sometime after Mega Man 11, but no exact dates are given. Unlike most robots of his time, X was created with a unique system akin to that of a conscience, allowing him to think, feel and act completely on his own, along with highly advanced technology that far surpassed anything of the current day. The purpose of X's construction was for the sake of Light's dream: giving robots the ability and freedom to grow in the exact fashion of all living beings. However, Light was not without foresight and fears for the fate of his ultimate project, and he was nearing the end of his life with no successor to continue his work. To test the reliability of X's learning and morality, Light prepared a stasis capsule that would perform system tests on his circuits and AI to prove his maturity, which would take approximately 30 years to complete. With nothing but his love and compassion long put into his work throughout his life, Light addressed his final words, of his hopes, wishes, fears, and dreams, for X to bring peace, and to fight for the people of the future. On September 18, 20XX, readying all last preparations, Mega Man X was sealed away. The sleeping X passed all tests the capsule had prepared, and he was awoken in the year 21XX (possibly in the year 2114 at minimum, according to the log of Cain's PC in the opening of Mega Man X, 100 years after X was sealed by Dr. Light) by scientist Dr. Cain. Cain, not being an expert in robotics, was baffled by the design specifications Light had included on the computer as even a century later they were ahead of anything the world had ever seen. From these specifications and with the help of X, Cain began developing his own version of next-generation robots, which came to be known as Reploids. However, the Reploids never received the same degree of ethical testing as X, and due to this oversight (along with short circuits and other malfunctions), over time more and more Reploids began to act strangely, even becoming violent against humans and other Reploids. These Reploids were deemed "Maverick", and as incidents of Reploids going Maverick increased, the human government decided to found a department which was tasked with dealing with these new Mavericks. This force was known as the Maverick Hunters, and Dr. Cain's magnum opus Sigma was made its commander. Meanwhile, X found it difficult to find a place in the new world of the Reploids, remaining unsure of the life Dr. Light had planned for him. Maverick Wars EraMega Man XThe world forever changed when Sigma himself went Maverick on June 4, 21XX, beginning a worldwide Reploid rebellion dedicated to the eradication of humankind. X took the news personally and, feeling responsible for this tragic turn of events due to his connection to the Reploid race, requested to join Zero - the new leader of the Maverick Hunters due to Sigma's treason - in order to help put a stop to the conflict. Eager to help protect the world, X travelled to the Highway where Sigma's forces were storming the city. He saw some success in taking down Mechaniloid soldiers, but was swiftly defeated by former Maverick Hunter Vile, who descended from the Death Rogumer piloting a Ride Armor and caught X with a paralysis shot. Just as X was caught helpless in Vile's grasp, Zero appeared and destroyed the arm of the Ride Armor, forcing Vile to flee on the Death Rogumer. X was disappointed by his inability to fight Vile, but Zero assured him that he held the potential to one day surpass Vile and even himself. Zero then informed X that he would perform reconnaissance to find Sigma's fortress, leaving the rest of the defense against the rebellion up to him. Following this encounter, X continued to fight Sigma's rebellion. This included hunting down and destroying eight former Maverick Hunters who had joined Sigma's cause and were wreaking havoc, from military invasions to tampering with power plants and maritime trade routes. After defeating them all, X met back up with Zero, who explained that he had discovered Sigma's fortress and was ready to perform an infiltration mission. X and Zero rendezvoused outside Sigma's fortress, where Zero ordered him to find a safe route while he took the brunt of enemy fire. Upon reaching the interior, the two encountered Vile again. Zero told X to let him handle Vile, but X could hear him being overpowered through the walls and rushed to his aid. X then entered the room and found Zero trapped in a cage and Vile piloting a new Ride Armor - Vile attempted to intimidate him into standing down, but Zero encouraged him to fight instead. Despite his best efforts, X was still no match for Vile and was again paralyzed. Desperate, Zero mustered the rest of his strength to break out of his cage and overpower his Z-Buster, destroying the Ride Armor but badly wounding himself in the process. Amused by Zero's failure to properly finish him off, Vile continued to taunt X, but was shocked when the rookie suddenly gained a boost of power and broke out of his paralysis. The two then fought each other, resulting in X finally destroying Vile. He then rushed to Zero's side, finding him split in half at the waist. Zero explained that he would not live to reach Sigma, and instead encouraged X to take his place and finish the fight. If X did not have the Arm Parts, Zero would also give him his own as a final parting gift. Invigorated by Zero's sacrifice, X continued on through the next three segments of the Sigma Palace. Along the way he fought copies of the eight Mavericks he had defeated once before, finally leading him to a tower where Sigma awaited him. Sigma was impressed by X's perseverance, and sent his guard dog Velguarder after him as a test. Once X destroyed it, Sigma congratulated him and fought him one-on-one. X then defeated Sigma, destroying his entire body and leaving only his head intact. Sigma's head then entered another frame, the powerful Wolf Sigma, but X was able to overcome this challenge as well. Finally done for, Sigma lamented X's decision to defend the humans instead of helping his Reploid brethren evolve, and X fled the fortress in silence as it exploded around Sigma. X rested on a cliff nearby the levitating fortress, and watched as it fell into the ocean and detonated. There he pondered the heroic sacrifices for peace, such as Zero's, but also the crippling chaos which he himself had helped cause. He couldn't help but wonder if the fight against Mavericks would ever truly end. Mega Man: Maverick Hunter XIn the continuity of the Maverick Hunter X remake of Mega Man X, X's story remains largely the same with some slight differences. For example, X has already been a B-Class Maverick Hunter for a while by the beginning of the game, even working directly under the command of Sigma in the 17th Elite Unit. Scenes of his construction by Dr. Light, along with the events leading up to Sigma's rebellion, are shown in the included OVA The Day of Σ. Mega Man X2Six months after the defeat of Sigma, X has officially joined the Maverick Hunters and now leads their efforts to finish off what is left of Sigma's rebellion. However, little has changed, as the remaining Mavericks seem to pop up everywhere and a new uprising seems to be imminent. Dr. Cain narrows down an old factory where the Mavericks are creating more Mechaniloid soldiers, and X leads the Hunters in a raid to hopefully finish them off. After X raids the factory and destroys a Gigantic Mechaniloid CF-0, being the only Hunter to make it through the defenses, his fears are confirmed as a new Maverick rebellion occurs. The leaders of this rebellion remain unclear at first, but after X destroys two of the Mavericks' generals, the masterminds known as the X-Hunters - Serges, Agile, and Violen - contact the Maverick Hunters and challenge X to a series of duels throughout the area. They entice him to battle using the three rebuilt parts of Zero's body, which they have been unable to use due to Dr. Cain holding onto Zero's control chip. This gives X an opportunity to recover the parts of Zero so that Dr. Cain can reconstruct him - however, if X fails to face all three X-Hunters, they raid Hunter Base and steal Zero's control chip for their own purposes. Once X has defeated all eight of the Maverick generals, Dr. Cain pinpoints the location of the X-Hunters' base in the Arctic circle. X storms the fortress, destroying Violen, Serges, and finally Agile in the process. However, as Agile dies he cries out for his "master", revealing that the trio had secretly resurrected Sigma. X continues to investigate the base, and after fighting the eight Mavericks again, hears the familiar voice of Sigma taunting him. X heads to the Central Computer, where he confronts the resurrected Sigma. From here, two scenarios are possible based on the player's actions:
Regardless, Zero says he'll destroy the Central Computer while X pursues Sigma, punching a hole in the floor to allow access below. X follows Sigma and destroys his body, revealing that Sigma has taken on a digital form called the Sigma Virus. X then defeats the Sigma Virus as well, and as the Central Computer explodes around them, Sigma wonders aloud why Zero did not become a Maverick before disappearing. X flees the destruction of the base, meeting up with Zero by the sea. X again ponders if the fighting will ever end, and if so, what will have to be done in order to bring about such peace. Mega Man XtremeOne day, X finds himself back on the highway from his first adventure as a Maverick Hunter. He soon learns that the Maverick Hunters' Mother Computer has been hacked, sending him into a digital world and wreaking havoc on the world's networks. X agrees to enter the Mother Computer again, with the help of Middy, to find the source of the hacking and put a stop to it. X discovers that the hacker, Techno, is the twin brother of Middy who has been influenced by Sigma and the new Shadow Hunters into his Maverick actions. X defeats Zain and Geemel, then destroys the terminal connecting Techno to the Mother Computer - this leads to Techno's death, and since he shared the same CPU as Middy, the latter perishes as well. X, crushed by his mistake, challenges Sigma once again and defeats him in the digital world, extracting a measure of vengeance. Mega Man X3X has finally finished off Sigma's initial rebellion, leading to a period of peace wherein the scientist Dr. Doppler synthesizes a vaccine to the Sigma Virus. Thanks to his help, reformed Mavericks gather around him and create a utopian city called Dopple Town. Not long afterwards, Maverick riots suddenly strike in Dopple Town, revealing that Dr. Doppler himself has gone Maverick and that his supposed vaccine is ineffective and virtually a placebo. X and Zero are both deployed to help quell the riots - however, in their absence Hunter Base is attacked by Doppler's forces, and the two hastily retreat in order to defend their headquarters. During the attack, the Hunter Mac betrays X and attempts to kidnap him for Doppler's purposes, but Zero foils the attempt. X then defeats the massive Maoh the Giant, and a momentary victory is achieved. X and Zero head back to Dopple Town to fight the source of the Maverick uprising. After defeating two of the eight major Mavericks, X finds himself hunted by the Nightmare Police, Bit and Byte, who also plan to kidnap him for Dr. Doppler. Additionally, X learns that his old nemesis Vile has been reconstructed by Doppler as well and is seeking revenge on his own terms by laying teleporter traps to an old factory for a showdown. X is able to defeat all three of his pursuers (if done with their respective weaknesses, he will actually destroy them in the process). Once all eight Mavericks are destroyed, Dr. Cain pinpoints the location of Dr. Doppler's base, which is hidden underneath Dopple Town. X and Zero storm the fortress, finishing off Vile and the Nightmare Police (if they haven't been destroyed already). X finally confronts Dr. Doppler himself, who reveals he is loyal to Sigma and plans to incorporate X's body into Sigma's new form. The two battle and X comes out victorious, while Doppler seems to regain his senses from the Sigma Virus. He reveals that he has already constructed a new body for Sigma further underground, and urges X to go stop him. X finds Sigma in his new body and the two face off: as usual, X destroys his first form before fighting a second form, this time known as Kaiser Sigma. However, even then the Sigma Virus lingers and threatens to possess X to take his body for his own. X flees from the Sigma Virus on foot, but is backed into a corner - from here, two scenarios are possible:
X then departs from Dr. Doppler's ransacked laboratory, resting on a cliffside (with Zero if he is still active). X laments the ongoing violence and ponders what Dr. Light truly planned for him to do with this life - in the back of his heart, however, X knows that he is destined to fight Zero someday. Mega Man Xtreme 2X and Zero are deployed to Laguz Island to investigate the mysterious Erasure incident occurring there. Aided by Iris, they encounter the Soul Erasers responsible: the Reploid researcher Berkana and her right-hand-man Gareth. Once they have destroyed the island's guardian Mavericks, X splits up to fight Berkana while Zero fights Gareth. After the fall of both Soul Erasers, it is revealed that Berkana had helped the return of Sigma. X and Zero then work together to defeat Sigma, which effectively reverses the Erasure and returns the DNA souls taken from the Reploids' bodies. Mega Man X4In X's story, he is sent to help defend the Sky Lagoon from a sudden Maverick attack, fighting off Eregion and meeting with Magma Dragoon before being forced to flee the flying city as it plummets to the ground. X then returns to the Sky Lagoon's crash site, where he finishes off Eregion before coming across Colonel from Repliforce. He requests Colonel to disarm his men and come to Hunter Base for questioning about the incident, but Colonel refuses and instead turns his back on the scene entirely. Soon after, the Great Repliforce War begins, and X is deployed to help stop Repliforce's violent coup d'état. In the process, he is assigned the rookie Hunter Double as an aide, whom he finds endearing. While fighting Repliforce, X also finds himself faced with several Mavericks (such as Split Mushroom, Cyber Peacock, and even the aforementioned Magma Dragoon) who are loyal to another mysterious force. He is also challenged to a duel by Colonel after defeating four Mavericks, who faces him at Memorial Hall. X wins their fight, but Colonel lives to fight another day. As the climax of Repliforce's coup d'état approaches, X pursues them to the Space Port in an attempt to stop them from colonizing the Final Weapon. X is confronted by Colonel again, this time destroying him in their battle. However, Colonel managed to buy enough time for Repliforce to successfully depart, forcing X to pursue them into space. X arrives on the Final Weapon to put an end to Repliforce's plans before they begin, but is suddenly met with Double. The rookie Hunter reveals that he is a Maverick double agent, having killed an entire unit of Hunters, which shocks X. Double then attacks him, and before his death ridicules X one more time for being so naïve. Shaken but not broken, X moves on to fight General and stop the madness. When their battle ends however, the Final Weapon begins preparing its main cannon, and General urges X to go find who is responsible. X continues onwards and finds that it is Sigma behind the operation, including the manipulation of Repliforce from the beginning. He taunts X for being unable to see it before, and the two fight. X defeats all of Sigma's forms, and when the Final Weapon seems like it cannot be stopped, General sacrifices himself to stop it. In X's ending, X heads back to Earth in a shuttle, beginning to doubt his ability to remain sane forever. He then contacts Zero and makes him promise that if he were to ever go Maverick, that Zero be the one to destroy him. Mega Man X5With peace restored since the Great Repliforce War, the Maverick Hunters hired several new officers, including Alia. Things seemed to be going back to normal, until X was called to deal with the sudden reappearance of Sigma, confronting him in a city overrun by Mavericks. X defeated Sigma with surprising ease, but the resulting explosion spread the Sigma Virus all over the Earth, revealing that it was a trap. In addition, the space colony Eurasia suddenly began falling towards the Earth, full of more virus, thanks to the help of Sigma's hired gun Dynamo. This combination overwhelmed the Maverick Hunters, and threatened to irreversibly damage the planet. The Maverick Hunters came to the conclusion that they could only mitigate the impact of the Eurasia colony, and planned to do so with two options: the outdated Enigma laser cannon and a Space Shuttle loaded with explosives. X and Zero were deployed to gather parts for the projects, but their efforts were hindered by the Sigma Virus' worldwide spread, turning potential partners into enemies. They were also challenged to duels by Dynamo twice, who sought to impede them further. From here, there were several scenarios possible, mostly based on the actions of the player:
Either way, X enters Zero Space (with or without Zero) to pursue Sigma, who has hidden inside of it. Before reaching Sigma, however, X and Zero are turned against each other. There are several possible reasons why:
Regardless, X and Zero battle, coming to a standstill where both lay exhausted on the ground. Sigma then approaches them, pleased with the results, but Zero comes to X's defense, and Sigma disappears while challenging them to come find him. After recovering, X and Zero finally face Sigma, determined to put their conflict behind themselves. They battle him, and he takes on a gigantic, unfinished form in a last ditch attempt at victory (if the player is X, Sigma will explain that a man who absolutely despises X helped him construct it). In the final struggle, Sigma self-destructs, severely damaging both Hunters.
Mega Man X6Three weeks later, X is still coping with the loss of his friend, unaware that Zero is still alive. He is sent to the Eurasia crash site to deal with some unruly Mavericks, where he fights D-1000. X defeats it, but the final blow is landed by the mysterious Zero Nightmare before it disappears. Not far behind is High Max, who claims to be investigating the Nightmare Phenomenon in the area and attacks X for interfering. X is unable to damage him, and High Max scoffs before leaving. Shortly afterwards, X and the Maverick Hunters hear an announcement from the scientist Isoc that a worldwide investigation of the Nightmare has begun. He blames the "ghost of Zero" for the events, infuriating X. The Maverick Hunters are suspicious of the Nightmare and the Nightmare Investigators, so X is deployed to do his own research. He finds that the Nightmare Investigators are hostile and share data with previously deceased Reploids, and he also encounters the Zero Nightmare again. If X can destroy the Zero Nightmare, he is overjoyed to see Zero suddenly return, having been repairing himself in hiding until this point. With X and Zero teamed up again, they continue the investigation. Once X either destroys all eight Nightmare Investigators or manages to defeat High Max, then Gate - the true mastermind behind Isoc, High Max, and the Nightmare Investigators - contacts Hunter Base to challenge X to storm his laboratory. X complies, finally destroying High Max along the way before facing Gate. After defeating Gate, he reveals that he also resurrected Sigma as a backup plan, who appears and kills Gate before challenging X. X pursues Sigma deeper into the laboratory. He fights and defeats him, stating that he will fight Sigma as many times as it takes to keep him down. After the battle, X saves the remains of Gate for Alia to hopefully repair, because he knew what it was like to lose a colleague and didn't want to see any more innocent Reploids die. Alia thanks him for this, and they swear to try to rebuild the Earth. Alternatively, if X didn't ever find Zero throughout the game, Zero observes X and Alia without revealing himself. He then comments on the events on the game, before heading after the yet undefeated Zero Nightmare. Mega Man X7Months later, the Maverick Hunters were severely crippled as X retired from active duty to pursue more peaceful means to end the constant fighting. In his absence, a new Maverick-hunting faction known as Red Alert formed around the skilled vigilante Red, though their standards were much lower and more dangerous than those of the Hunters. After Axl fled from Red Alert and was arrested by Zero, X met him at Hunter Base and reprimanded him for letting his workplace politics cause so much public damage. Red then contacted the Hunters and challenged them to a duel over custody of Axl, something which X initially refused to take part in. Once Zero and Axl had rescued 64 Reploids (or defeated the eight Red Alert Mavericks), X decided that the fighting was too intense to ignore and finally came out of retirement to help after all. He joined them in the attack on Red Alert's fortress, the Crimson Palace, helping them defeat Red and discovering that Sigma was indeed behind the conflict. Sigma boasted that he would one day steal the bodies of X and Zero before challenging them. Once Sigma was reduced to a damaged form, he punched Axl through a wall, and Red suddenly reappeared and began fighting X and Zero. Sigma then attempted to absorb Red and take his power, but it turned out to be Axl in disguise, who then shot him out of a window. X was bothered by Axl's reckless move, but glad he was safe and had defeated Sigma. In the ending, X is seen doubting Axl's self-control and hesitating to permit him to be an official Hunter. Axl says that he's only caused as much damage as X did in previous adventures, but X claims that he was wrong to do so in the first place. Axl then heads out to fight a Maverick attack, determined to prove himself. Elsewhere, Zero has a disturbing nightmare of X (or a similar individual) on a murderous Maverick-killing rampage. Mega Man X8Some time after the Red Alert incident, construction began on the Jakob Project. One of the personnel transport cars exploded off the spiral track of the elevator and crashed near the elevator site, and X was the first to arrive on the scene. After requesting a rescue squad, X was shocked to see an army of Sigmas emerging from the burning debris. The leader of these Reploids, Lumine, appeared to explain that the Reploids had taken on Sigma's durable from in order to survive the impact, being New Generation Reploids capable of changing shape via Copy Chips. Lumine further explained that this power over their bodies allowed them to nullify viral infections as well. X was left befuddled and disturbed by the incident. A few hours later, X, Zero, and Axl are deployed to Noah's Park to deal with a Maverick Mechaniloid called Crabs-Y. They were forced to destroy it, but were then met with a newly-upgraded Vile. Vile explained that he and other Mavericks were taking over the Jakob Project, revealing that he had kidnapped Lumine in the process. X and the others returned to Hunter Base, where they heard that New Generation Reploids involved in the Jakob Project were beginning to riot all over the globe. X lamented the start of a new conflict, but Axl's enthusiasm helped him to quickly accept the situation. The trio of Hunters then headed out to stop the Maverick uprising; in doing so, X learned that many of the New Generation Reploids saw him as an outdated model with little to offer in their ideal new world. After defeating four Mavericks, Alia's research revealed that Sigma's data was unique to the New Generation Reploids and pointed towards his involvement in the riots. X was disappointed, but not surprised by this development. Later, he had to explain to Layer when she asked about the history between Zero and Sigma. Once all eight Mavericks were destroyed, Sigma personally contacted Hunter Base and challenged X to come face him in space. X and the Hunters boarded Jakob and entered space, fighting Vile on the way. In the Gateway, X fought what appeared to be Sigma himself, but turned out to just be a New Generation Reploid copying his form. However, Sigma's presence was pinpointed to be on the Moon itself within a newly-constructed Sigma Palace. Upon entering the Moon, X fought and defeated Vile for the last time (in Hard Mode, Vile attacks one of the Hunters to separate the duo). He then confronted Sigma, who thanked him for starting him down the path of the Maverick in the first place. In the ensuing battle, X and the Hunters defeated Sigma, reducing him to a pile of scrap. Lumine then revealed himself, but suddenly turned sinister as he explained that he had been merely using Sigma to hasten the evolution of New Generation Reploids. They fought Lumine and defeated both of his forms, leaving his body immobile. However, as Axl approached Lumine's body, a tentacle lashed out and struck him in the head, forcing X to quickly destroy it with a Charge Shot.
The Elf WarsSeveral years later after the events of the Mega Man X series, X finally ended the Maverick Wars with the help of the "Sigma Antibody Program", also known as the Mother Elf, which had been reverse-engineered from Zero's internal workings and immunity to the Sigma Virus. This led to a period of great peace, even though X was no longer working with his partner Zero at his side. Some time after this, a human scientist named Dr. Weil proposed Project Elpizo, a plan to create a perfect ruler to control all Reploids without risking them going Maverick. X disagreed with the nature of the project, believing that Reploids and humans are fully capable of co-existing with each other peacefully without external control. In retaliation, Dr. Weil secretly altered the Mother Elf, turning her into the Dark Elf and starting the "Elf Wars" so he could use Zero's original body to create Omega. Because of this, Zero's "mind and soul" had to be placed into a new body created by Dr. Ciel's ancestor, which allowed Zero to fight alongside X to defeat Omega. For the damages Omega and Weil had caused, Weil was modified into a cyborg and banished into the wasteland while Omega was sentenced to perpetual exile in Earth's orbit. After this war, Zero sealed himself away once again, trusting that the world was in X's good hands, while X assumed leadership of the utopian city Neo Arcadia. X attempted to stop Zero's encapsulation, but by the time X arrived to halt the procedure, it was already halfway finished, although not before Zero offered words of encouragement to X. It was presumably around this time that X retrieved Zero's Z-Saber again, which he would keep for years. |

All Cyberspace levels are all identical to the real world counterpart as shown here. Cyberspace even has things such as the sun and moon be identical to the real world. It even has locations such as Area X which is both stated and shown to reach space. It is also referred to as its own dimension separating it from the real world and once again states that Omega created Cyberspace), Higher with Giga Attacks, Armors, Chips, and Parts

He is a quick learner and is able to adapt to any situation or environment he's put in. He also is able to figure out the weaknesses of his opponents and use them to his advantage. X is an S-Class Maverick Hunter and he has defeated Sigma countless times throughout the years, also being the one to put him down for good along with the Mother Elf. He even mastered the Hadouken nearly instantly after seeing it for the first time while it's regarded as a technique that only a few people have been able to master through intense training. Despite his pacifist nature, he's regarded as the number 1 Maverick Hunter by Sigma.)

X's Armors | |
Armor Parts (アーマーパーツ Āmā Pātsu ), also known as Armor Power-Ups (アーマーパワーアップ ) and Power-Up Parts (パワーアップパーツ Powā Appu Pātsu , not to be mistaken with Power-Up Parts), are unique power ups that Mega Man X can equip to enhance his abilities. CharacteristicsAlthough each armor is unique and provides a different set of enhancements, most of them share a few common themes, being generally white with details in blue, gold and red (the latter being more uncommon). Some armors are based on specific motifs, such as the Falcon Armor's birdlike features and the Shadow Armor's ninja aspect. The armors themselves are separated in four parts: Foot Parts (フットパーツ Futto Pātsu , Leg Parts in some sources), Arm Parts (アームパーツ Āmu Pātsu , Buster Parts in Mega Man X7 and X8), Body Parts (ボディパーツ Bodi Pātsu ) and Head Parts (ヘッドパーツ Heddo Pātsu ), each hidden away in one of Dr. Light's hidden capsules. When a capsule is discovered by X, a blue hologram of Dr. Light explains the function of the part stored before allowing X to step inside and receive it. Usually, X can equip the part and enjoy its benefits immediately upon receiving the upgrade, but there were circumstances (in Mega Man X5 and Mega Man X6) which forced him to acquire an Armor Program (アーマープログラム ) of the four parts before the full armor could be used. The fate of each armor with the end of an incident is unknown; most of them disappear completely, while others such as the Fourth Armor and Falcon Armor are damaged in action. It is possible to repair and reuse an armor, although repaired armors tend to lose some functionality depending on the situation. Some armors such as X's "Second Armor" could be even acquired from Dr. Light a second time, with minor modifications. Generally, the Armor Parts are strictly designed for X's use; although Zero could occasionally download the Armor Programs for X, he could not use Dr. Light's power-ups himself. The only exception Zero used an armor in video games was during the Erasure Incident, where he could receive enhancements from Dr. Light's capsules, although there were no visual changes like in X's case, and a small upgrade in Mega Man X5. In the Mega Mission card series, Zero was able to equip the Energy Armor originally meant for X, although he was not able to make use of it as much as X was ultimately able to after Zero passed it onto him. However, in Mega Man X7 and X8 where two Maverick Hunters are deployed in gameplay, X must be in the team and only he (as the Hunter the player is using) can open up the Armor Capsule by going near it even if it means using the Reserve Hunter to access the capsule, as X will immediately be able to use the part inside once obtained. AppearancesThe section contains X's Armor from various games. Mega Man X and Mega Man XtremeThe First Armor obtained by X in the Mega Man X series. It made its debut appearance in the first Mega Man X game and reappeared in the remake Mega Man Maverick Hunter X, in Mega Man Xtreme, and in Mega Man X DiVE. Armor Parts:
Mega Man X2 and Mega Man Xtreme 2The Second Armor that Mega Man X obtains in the series. Armor Parts:
Note: This is the first Armor to begin the tradition of reducing Weapon energy usage. Completing the full set of armor grants the secret benefit of reducing X's Weapon Energy usage by half. Mega Man X3Mega Man X3 has the Third Armor obtained by X. In addition to the Armor Parts, X can also obtain chips that improve the abilities of the armor. However, X's system can handle only 1 of the 4 enhancement chips, being unable to equip the other chips once he installed one of them. The capsules containing the four chips can only be reached with the use of Ride Armors. Armor Parts:
Mega Man X4Mega Man X4 is the first game from the Mega Man X series to have two armors, the Fourth Armor (フォースアーマー Fōsu Āmā , named "Force Armor" in some sources) and the Ultimate Armor (アルティメットアーマー Arutimetto Āmā ). The Ultimate Armor is also the first armor to be obtained as a whole instead of by separated parts. The Fourth Armor is an all-around armor that can be found in capsules hidden in the stages like previous games, but differs in that it has two Arm Parts that can be traded anytime. Fourth Armor's Armor Parts:
The Ultimate Armor is a secret armor that is only available by the use of a code before starting the game, replacing the Fourth Armor. It has the same abilities as the Fourth Armor with the Plasma Charge Shot Arm Parts, but with infinite use of the Nova Strike. Mega Man X5The Fourth Armor and Ultimate Armor from the previous game return with some changes, and two new armors are available: The Falcon Armor (ファルコンアーマー Farukon Āmā ) and the Gaea Armor (ガイアアーマー Gaia Āmā ). However, due to the circumstances, Dr. Light gave the Armor Parts as programs, enabling X to use the armor only when all four data files are obtained and it is complete. If X is chosen at the Character Select screen at the start of a new game, he will begin the game with the Fourth Armor equipped. If Zero is selected, the armor will be damaged and unusable for the rest of the game. The Plasma Charge Shot ability is in effect, but it will generate a plasma orb only for the first enemy it hits. Also, the effects of the Head Parts and the Nova Strike are unavailable. The Ultimate Armor can be obtained without the use of a code in this game (thus, retaining the Fourth Armor as well) by going to the third Zero Space stage without an armor and entering the capsule hidden in the area. X also uses this armor during his battle against Zero in the same stage. The Falcon Armor is a light weight armor that focuses on mobility. Its Foot Parts allow X to air dash and move freely in the air for a limited time. While in flight, X is invulnerable to everything except for instant-kill objects such as lasers. The Body Parts reduce the amount of damage received and enables the Giga Attack. The Head Parts reduce the amount of energy used by special weapons. The Arm Parts allow X to use the Spear Charge Shot, a small, fast-moving shot that can pierce through any surface. X can't charge special weapons with this armor. Dr. Light gives this armor's Foot Program in Crescent Grizzly's stage, the Arm Program in Shining Firefly's stage, the Body Program in Tidal Whale's stage, and the Head Program in Volt Kraken's stage. The Gaea Armor is a heavy armor that sacrifices maneuverability and special weapons in exchange for both greater offensive and defensive strength for the purpose of careful and steady exploration in hidden and dangerous areas. The armor grants X complete immunity to spikes at all times, as well as mitigating the damage he receives. Additionally, X can use the Gaea Shot, a powerful Buster variant carrying Shot Eraser properties, and a close ranged but powerful Giga Attack. It is surrounded by a green field which pushes back blocks with a tell-tale "V" on them when he dashes, and his grabbing strength is increased, allowing him to hang onto walls without sliding indefinitely. Dr. Light gives the Head Program in Dark Necrobat's stage, the Arm Program in Burn Dinorex's stage, the Body Program in Spiral Pegasus' stage, and the Foot Program in Spike Rosered's stage. Mega Man X6The Falcon Armor and Ultimate Armor from Mega Man X5 return, and X can obtain the Blade Armor and the Shadow Armor. The Falcon Armor is available from the beginning, but as it was damaged in the previous game, its flight ability is now limited to a damaging air dash, and the Spear Charge Shot lost its piercing properties, but now X is able to charge special weapons with this armor. Like Mega Man X4, the Ultimate Armor can be obtained only with the use of a code. It is the same as it was in Mega Man X5, except that its colors changed. The Blade Armor is an armor focused on mobility and using the Z-Saber (which is physically adapted into X's buster, rather than a separate entity). The most significant feature is an upgraded air-dash. If the jump or dash buttons are pressed while X is airborne, X will freeze mid-air until the button is released. After this, he will perform a quick air dash that covers a lot of distance. X can air-dash vertically or horizontally like the Third Armor, and he can also air-dash down. The Shadow Armor is similar to the Gaea Armor from Mega Man X5. It keeps many of the main features of the Gaea Armor, including invulnerability to instant-kill spikes, being able to hold on to walls without sliding down them, and the lack of an air dash. The Shadow Armor sacrifices the Gaea Armor's ability to push V-Blocks while dashing for a ninja-like maneuver. The X-Buster has been heavily modified for the Shadow Armor. X's normal shot fires shurikens, and behaves similar to the C-Shot from Mega Man X5. Mega Man X7Mega Man X7 contains the Glide Armor (グライドアーマー Guraido Āmā ). Like the first four games from the series, the Glide Armor can be collected one piece at a time, slowly getting stronger with every part, in contrast to Mega Man X5 and X6 in which all parts of the armors must be collected to be functional. Also, X can remove the armor and go to missions without it once it has been fully assembled. It is a fairly all-around armor, as it is the only armor in the game.
Mega Man X8Even though in Mega Man X8 there in fact was only one armor as the basis, at least three different armor systems have been created from it, with the exception of the last one which parts can't be exchanged. The Neutral Armor gives X no enhancements on its own. However, it has the ability to mix and match parts of the other two armors to give a customized group of abilities. Having a complete suit will unlock the Giga ability of that armor. It will, upon completing a set, glow more brightly, compared to a dull glow as an incomplete armor. Standard Neutral Armor parts are gray in color and is bestowed to X upon entering the first Armor Capsule he finds in the game together with the Armor Part that comes with it, subsequent parts he obtains will be automatically added into the Armor itself and will replace the previous part that he already has (for example, if X has the Buster Parts I when he enters the Armor Capsule that has the Buster Parts H, the Buster Parts H will replace the current part that he has, in which he can enter other stages with 2 Buster Parts to choose from after he has completed the stage). The Icarus Armor is an armor system that focuses on attack power and aerial advantage capabilities. When the armor set is complete, X can use the Giga Crash that is similar to the Second Armor in Mega Man X2 and the Glide Armor in Mega Man X7. Once the Giga Crash is performed, his weapon gauge will automatically refill itself over time unlike in previous games where X has to obtain energy capsules or take damage to fill up the gauge used for this attack. The Parts are colored red. The Hermes Armor is an Armor system that focuses on movement speed and mobility. When the armor set is complete, X can use the X-Drive which further enhances X's movement speed and mobility. X will have blue energy flowing throughout his body while this ability is in effect. The weapon energy will drain itself while the X-Drive is in effect until the energy runs out or if he switches with his reserve Hunter, in which the energy will recharge itself over time. The Parts are colored blue. The Ultimate Armor from Mega Man X8 is designed to be using similar color tones to the Ultimate Armor in Mega Man X6 but using the Neutral Armor as its design base fused with a purple glow on its parts. It is a separate option within the Neutral Armor selection, and thus cannot mix its parts with those of the Hermes and Icarus Armor. The most probable reason that a purple glow is used is that this Ultimate Armor combines certain abilities of his two Armor Systems, Icarus and Hermes, into one single Part. This is most notable in the Foot Part of the Ultimate Armor which is essentially the abilities of both his Foot Parts fused into one. It also grants X the Shouryuuken technique that was first seen with the Second Armor in Mega Man X2 but with reduced attack power but can be executed as easily. This Armor's head part also provides unlimited energy for X's weapons. This Armor's Nova Strike is the most devastating Nova Strike throughout the X Series for the fact that it is so powerful it can almost wipe out a Maverick Boss or reduce its life energy drastically in just one single attack, making defeating Maverick bosses in this game a quick affair. Although the Nova Strike cannot be executed indefinitely like previous incarnations, the recharge rate for successive usage is the quickest among the three Armor Systems, so quick that it takes mere seconds to the Weapon Gauge to be fully charged for repeated attacks. |

Standard Tactics: X uses all his weapons to his advantage and can equip parts and chips if needed. He also can transform into his several armors to make him stronger as well as summon Zero and Axl to fight with him. He also can use the Mother Elf's abilities to help him as he did to defeat the Sigma Virus once and for all. Alia also can send transmissions to X to give him enemy weaknesses or information about the terrain to help him on his mission.
Weaknesses: His pacifist nature can make him too trusting at times. His special weapons have limited ammunition. However that is easily solved with his unlimited ammo via armors and parts.
Note: Command Mission is not canon as it takes place at the same time of the Zero series.
Note 2: Mega Man Maverick Hunter X is the X series reimagined and exists as a separate continuity. However, similar details and elements shared should scale to the main continuity for things that there are no contradictions for.
Note 3: If X seals someone or is destroyed, he turns into Cyber Elf X
Trivia
Trivia about Mega Man X | |
However, X's eyes appeared as blue in the Mega Man Zero series. In Mega Man X4, X has attained the rank of Commander (隊長 taichō, lit. "commander", "captain", "leader") in the Maverick Hunters. In Mega Man X5, X's rank was translated as Captain, but he retains the same rank from the previous game in the Japanese version. The original Mega Man and Mega Man X aren't the same robot. Mega Man was created before Mega Man X. In Mega Man's ending from Mega Man: The Power Battle, Dr. Light says that like humans, robots have to determine what is right and wrong by themselves, and need to research more on A.I. program. The research mentioned could be the result of X's creation. Just like his predecessor, X has a few doppelgangers: X-Kai, iX and Copy X. In Mega Man X4, X had the same English voice actress as the original Mega Man from Mega Man 8, Ruth Shiraishi. Although X and Zero aren't technically Reploids (as the term was possibly coined several years after their creation), they are known as such because the term Reploid is used as a blanket-term all robots with human-like artificial intelligence. For instance, in some crossover games Zero calls Roll a "housekeeping Reploid" and the Servbots "Reploid-wannabe servants". X can be considered the 'father' of all Reploids, as he was one of the first robots with a "human-like" A.I. created, and Dr. Cain used him as basis for his first Reploid. X can also be considered the "biological father" of the Four Guardians, as they were born from X's DNA. In the original concept for Mega Man Zero, the main villain was the real Mega Man X instead of Copy X. This had been altered due to not only the unauthorized creation of Mega Man X6, but the storyline also involving Zero. This was foreshadowed in X's ending of Mega Man X4, where he asks Zero to "take care of him if he ever went Maverick", as well as the pre-credit narration implying that he will become a Maverick in the future. This is also foreshadowed in Zero's ending of Mega Man X7, where Zero dreams of seeing X, face hidden in shadow, aiming his X-Buster at him atop a pile of dead Reploids, babbling "Eliminate the Mavericks!" and firing just as Zero wakes up. Zero comments that he HOPES it was a dream. However, as it was created after the creation of Mega Man Zero and especially Mega Man X6 (the latter of which was the reason why that plot point was changed), it more likely foreshadowed Copy X. In the original Mega Man X game, Zero and X have a student/mentor relationship with Zero helping and encouraging X throughout the game. While the two become equals and good friends in the following games, the Zero series reverses this relationship and has X become the mentor to an amnesiac Zero. In Mega Man Zero 2, when the original body of X is destroyed, one who watches carefully will see that X's arms break off before the seal breaks and the explosion follows. Throughout the Rockman X manga, X never appeared without his helmet, although he proved he was at least able to remove it, doing so offscreen when equipping his new helmet. In the compilation of the Rockman X4 manga, X is shown without his helmet, although his head is obscured by lighting effects. In the Rockman X manga and in the novel, X is the only Reploid physically capable of producing tears when saddened. X is often seen crying when forced to resort to destroying a maverick or unable to save those close to him. In the comic series "FoxTrot", Marcus Jones once dressed up as Mega Man X for a Halloween party that ended up having all of the food eaten (presumably by Jason Fox, who was wearing a Jabba outfit). X has a cameo appearance in Avaturma, which is a special edition of the Brazilian comic series Turma da Mônica. In the story, X appears along many other blue-colored characters from popular culture. The story itself is a parody of James Cameron's Avatar . The Hadoken and Shoryuken are one hit KO abilities if used on bosses (shown in Mega Man X and its remake Mega Man Maverick Hunter X, as well as in Mega Man X2). X's Hadouken is Ryu's Hadouken due to its single hitting nature and capability of knocking down opponents upon contact, and his Shoryuken is Ken Master's fierce Shoryuken due to its multi-hitting property and burning fist aesthetic present in the animation. The Shoryuken however leaves X completely helpless if he goes over the platform, and lands on a bed of spikes or a bottomless pit. X appears to hold feelings for the Medic-turned-Pirate Queen Marty in the Rockman X manga. Marty appears to share these feelings, but seems much more reluctant to express them. |

Background
Cyber-Elf X (サイバーエルフエックス), X for short, is a character from the Mega Man Zero series that serves as a guide to Zero. He is the original version of X after his "soul" was separated from his body when he sealed the Dark Elf, becoming a Cyber-elf.
Model X (モデルX Moderu Ekkusu), the Blue Mega Man, is a Biometal from the Mega Man ZX series. It is the Biomatch of Vent /Aile and contains the soul of X. This Biometal grants the user an X-Buster, which can charge and release blasts of energy on three levels identical to X's upgraded buster in Mega Man X2, able to fire two charged shots in a row when fully charged. Model X can also be used to Double Megamerge (ダブルロックオン Double R.O.C.K. On) with other Biometals, allowing Vent/Aile to utilize the Model ZX, HX, FX, LX, PX and OX forms.
This dropdown contains the synopsis of X’s story. Read at your own risk as you may be spoiled otherwise! |

Note: Credit to Mega Man Knowledge Base HistorySeeing how all the attempts to seal the Dark Elf away were not working due to its immense powers, X decided to use his own body as a seal for the Dark Elf within Yggdrasil so that it could never escape and wreak havoc on the world like the Elf Wars. However, the burden of becoming the seal caused his mind to be separated from his body. Despite this, X's mind was fractured and split into four other parts of his psyche, along with his DNA, which had formed the Four Guardians, whom had also chosen to protect X's body along with Neo Arcadia. From then on, X continued to exist to watch over Neo Arcadia as a Cyber-elf, unknown to everyone. Due to his disappearance, a young genius named Ciel created an exact copy of X to fulfill the role of the leader of Neo Arcadia. While Copy X had at first completed his duty as leader rather well, much to X's horror Copy X started using extreme measures against Reploids to ensure peace and prosperity for humans. Copy X's rule was the exact opposite of what X himself would have done, as it went against his dream of Reploids and humans co-existing peacefully together. When Ciel created a Resistance to oppose Neo Arcadia and Copy X, X believes that they could not win, what with the Four Guardians now serving Copy X. It is then assumed that X sent Ciel the necessary information that would help her find the only one who he knew would step in to help save them: Zero. Mega Man ZeroX first appears as a mysterious image in a computer during a newly awakened Zero's battle against a Golem, and gives the Z-Saber to him which destroyed the Golem in short order. Zero then heads to the Resistance Base with Ciel. After Zero completed his missions for the Resistance, X appears at the Resistance Base after surviving its second siege. X reveals that he disabled the protection programs to Neo Arcadia's inner sanctums, stating that it was difficult to break through and took time. He then left, but not before giving a cryptic clue to his true identity, something that both Zero and Ciel picked up on. It was here that X also displayed a sign of ruthlessness and disappointment in his copy's tyrannical actions and cruelty, demanding Zero to "terminate the copy of me with extreme prejudice." Zero later learns that the X that rules over the world is a fake, built by Ciel because the real X went missing. This Copy X however believes he is far superior in every way than the original ever was. He then proceeds to fight Zero. After the first round of their battle, Zero tells Copy X, "I may have lost my memory, but my body seems to remember... that the original X was mightier than you..." Angered due to the firm belief that he was superior to both X and Zero as a hero, Copy X transforms into his final form to battle Zero once more. After Zero ultimately defeats him, Copy X questions once more on how he could be defeated, Zero then remembers something from his memories of the real X: "I've just remembered something... He was not as naive as you are. That's what made him a hero." The Drama Track "Ciel's Memory ~ Epilogue" expands upon this by having Zero specifically cite how X was originally a coward and a constant worrier, and that it was these traits and his overcoming them that made him such a great hero. This angered Copy X even more, causing him to try and take Zero with him by self-destructing. As Zero attempted to escape, Cyber-elf X followed, and possibly protected Zero from being destroyed by the explosion. Lying in the desert after narrowly escaping the explosion, Zero sees the Cyber-elf X, who now reveals himself in his ethereal form. He tells Zero of what had happened after Zero had disappeared and how X began to slowly lose himself from all the battles fought from there. X then tells his friend that he is tired of fighting and wants to rest for a while. He requests Zero to take his place as the defender of both humans and Reploids and leaves the world in Zero's care for now, to which Zero says that he'd be happy to take up his old friend's request, stating that that's what makes them the best partners. Mega Man Zero 2X first appears after Zero defeats Hyleg Ourobockle. He tells Zero that the "Baby Elves" will do anything to reunite with their mother, the Dark Elf. "Stir the humans' minds and bring chaos... It's all to meet their mother, the Dark Elf.... The Dark Elf that I sealed..." Upon saying this X disappears. Later in the game Elpizo succeeds in stealing the Baby Elves. Elpizo then heads to break the seal of the Dark Elf. X appears before Zero yet again and tells him that the Dark Elf is responding to her children. Fearing the worst he tells Zero to finish off Elpizo quickly, leaving Zero to wonder exactly what the Dark Elf is and why the name sounds so familiar. While Zero was fighting many battles in Neo Arcadia, X was holding Elpizo back from the Dark Elf. After a series of battles, Zero arrives at the tower where X's body rests. Zero arrives before Elpizo can break the seal but Elpizo uses his power to trap Zero in an energy field. He then forces Zero to watch as he stabs X's body with his beam rapier, destroying X's body and awakening the Dark Elf. The two Baby Elves fly to their mother and all three enter Elpizo's body. After an intense fight Zero emerges victorious. The Dark Elf, her curse fading only for a moment, showers the dying Elpizo with her power, turning him into a Cyber-elf and saving his life. As soon as she flees, X appears one more time and says, "She wasn't always called the 'Dark Elf'... When she was born, she had a mission to save the world, and she had another name. However, when her ability became a threat, they began to call her the 'Dark Elf'... Since someone called Dr. Weil placed a curse on her..." The game ends with Zero declaring that he knows her, and somewhere miles away a mysterious man talking about "Omega's Awakening". Mega Man Zero 3Even though his body was destroyed in the previous game, X still appears to give Zero and the Resistance help. When Zero battles the rebuilt Copy X, the real X appears and reveals that Dr. Weil is only using Copy X so he can gain power. Dr. Weil placed a trap on Copy X that would destroy him if he transformed into his ultimate battle form. As X tried to tell Copy X this, Copy X wouldn't listen, his hatred and anger kept increasing. After losing to Zero, Copy X eventually did transform into his final form which resulted in his death. Weil then spoke to the Neo Arcadian citizens and told them that Copy X was killed by the Resistance. It was then that Weil assumed command of Neo Arcadia and promised to wipe the Resistance out. X considered telling Zero about Omega's connection to him, but decided not to, as the time wasn't right. However, he nonetheless cryptically remarks that its "the heart that counts, not the body". Once the Resistance discovers the rest of info about the Elf Wars, Dr. Weil uses the Dark Elf's powers to control every Reploid on the earth including all Resistance members. As the resistance soldiers move in on both Ciel and Zero, X appears. Using his powers to disable the power of the Dark Elf, X manages to break the mass mind control, but only in the Resistance base. The rest of the world is still under Weil's control. Zero heads to Weil's base to put a stop to his plans. Eventually Zero battles against Omega and discovers that Omega is his true, original body and he is just a copy. However X appears one last time and reveals that while Omega is the real Zero's body, Zero's heart, soul, and memories are in the copy body he has been using. Essentially meaning Zero is still the real Zero, just in a different body. X also reveals that he and Zero fought against and defeated Omega a century ago. Zero eventually defeats Omega, but X's last words reveal he spent most of his energy and does not have much time left. Before he leaves he tells Zero "I want to leave this world in your care. The threat Weil represents has not left this world. I want you... to protect humans and Reploids." After he tells this to Zero, he says, "You can do it, Zero..." and passes away. He also leaves with him the memories of what happened in the closing events of the Elf Wars, according to the Drama Track Retrospect I, The Elf Wars. Mega Man ZX and ZX AdventBiometals are small, blocky mechanical artifacts which can be held by a single hand. However, Biometals are no ordinary technology as each of them appears to house a soul, usually of a legendary Reploid hero from a past era. Biometals are generally designed to resemble the original forms of the souls within, making them easy to recognize. Biometals are also distinguished by a protuding round plate on the front with a pair of horizontal lights for eyes, giving it the appearance of a face. Although they lack a mouth, they are still able to speak directly to the minds of compatible individuals. Baring Model W and O, the Biometals all look like the weapons they give to their user. However, Biometals are better known for their ability to merge with a person, giving them incredible power; this ability is called Megamerge and it works for both Humanoids and Reploids. Model X is obtained by Vent/Aile in the beginning of the Mega Man ZX game after a meeting with Prairie and a subsequent surprise attack by Mavericks, with a Biomatch created by their sense of justice. From then on, the Biometal is personally used by the duo before they inherit Model Z, gaining the ability to fuse into the Model ZX Mega Man. Its password for the gate inside Area M is Lumine Infinitus (Infinite Light), referring to X's "Limitless Potential". In Mega Man ZX Advent, Vent/Aile still has Model X and Model Z, fighting as the Model ZX Mega Man to end the Game of Destiny by destroying Model Ws. Inside Ouroboros, Model Z stays behind to stop the other Biometals and allow Vent/Aile and Model X to reach Ashe/Grey and Model A. |
