“ | Oh, to see the Dragon Balls turn to stone at the very moment your wish might have come true. Quite a pill to swallow, eh, Vegeta? Of course, even more so for myself. As a matter of fact, in all my years, I have never been so angry as I am now. How incredibly irritating not to have seen the writing on the wall... now you pay! You vile, filth-sucking maggots! You will rue the day you crossed my path! Prepare yourself to face oblivion! | „ |

Background
Frieza is the main antagonist of the Dragon Ball series. He is the leader of his own imperialist army and emperor of parts of Universe 7. A cruel tyrant, he is feared throughout the universe for his ruthlessness and immense power. He is the descendant of Chilled, the youngest son of King Cold, the younger brother of Cooler and the father of Kuriza.
Considered Goku's greatest foe and arch nemesis, he has made several comebacks since his fight with Goku on Namek, including multiple invasions of Earth. Recently, he was chosen to represent Universe 7 as the tenth member of Team Universe 7 for the Tournament of Power as a replacement for Good Buu. This makes him the most recurring villain of the Dragon Ball series.
After the events of the Tournament of Power, he was revived, recovering his title as Emperor of Universe 7.

Frieza's father is a mutant with an abnormally high power level. Because of this, Frieza also possesses the mutant traits, making him and his father King Cold the only ones among the Frieza Race who possess the striking level of power and cruelty shown in the series.[10] Even among his family and the rest of his race, Frieza was a prodigy, whose natural growth in power required him to never undergo any real training and still ultimately became recognized as the most powerful warrior in the universe. It is said that from the moment Frieza was born he was more powerful and cruel than his father, Frieza's overwhelming power and genius for evil led to Cold wanting to hand control over the universe to Frieza immediately. According to the guidebooks, in Age 731, Frieza annexed the Saiyans into his Frieza Force. Thanks to his son's potential, Cold handed control over to him while he was still a child. In Broly, he was introduced to the Saiyans in Age 732 - who were informed by Cold that Frieza was their new master. At one point, King Cold told Frieza that there were only two entities in the universe whom Frieza should never cross: Majin Buu and Beerus the Destroyer. Frieza annexed the Saiyans into his Frieza Force, and heard of the legends of the Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan God. At some point in Frieza's past, he conquered at least 448 planets, taking control of 70% of Universe 7. Frieza eventually met Beerus himself. The two got along fairly well as they both enjoyed destroying things. However one time Frieza got carried away and caused Beerus to get angry, Beerus fought Frieza and easily defeated the tyrant. Unbeknownst to Frieza, his arrogant attitude annoyed Beerus. He thought about destroying Frieza once he saved Beerus the trouble of destroying Planet Vegeta himself, though never went through with it. At some point, Frieza encountered the Galactic Patrol and when they engaged him in combat he easily defeated them, thus the patrol decided that they should avoid Frieza at all costs. Frieza had fought his parents in the past, and it had not been since these fights that he had ever had to dust himself off after a fight. Frieza had many races under his thumb in his planetary trade, including the Saiyans. Gifted with natural fighting ability, strength, and the ability to become stronger after every battle, Saiyans became powerful weapons in Frieza's subjugation of planets. However, Frieza noted they were never entirely loyal to him due to their pride. However, these very abilities made them a liability to the paranoid Frieza, afraid that, if left unchecked, the Saiyans could either unite and overwhelm him, or one day provide a warrior to rival Frieza himself - such as a Super Saiyan or a Super Saiyan God. Due to this, and also due to a past meeting with the God of Destruction Beerus, who asked him to wipe out the Saiyans for him, he decided to wipe out the planet and its inhabitants despite his attendant saying that it would be a shame to waste such mighty warriors. He also ended up forcing King Vegeta into giving him his son, Vegeta, as part of their continued "cooperation." However, King Vegeta secretly intended to betray Frieza before he could ever let him have his son. He also further taunted King Vegeta by implying that he didn't actually care if the latter was delayed in capturing Tazba before referring to the executed messenger as a "silly dope". In the manga, Frieza killed King Vegeta without having to transform into his second form. Frieza destroyed Planet Vegeta after a month had passed, as he had planned. Bardock briefly attempted to resist Frieza as he was about to destroy Planet Vegeta, however Frieza wiped him, the planet and the rest of the Saiyans out with a Supernova. Frieza Saga Twenty-five years after Frieza destroyed Planet Vegeta, Frieza spies on Vegeta's scouter during the Vegeta Saga and in doing so, learns of the existence of the Dragon Balls on Namek. Planning to obtain them and make a wish for immortality, Frieza arrives on Namek with his longtime comrades and top two highest ranking henchmen, Zarbon and Dodoria, in order to try and obtain the Dragon Balls from the Namekians. Vegeta learns about this from Cui and hurries to Planet Namek to have his wish granted before Frieza. Frieza and his minions raid nearby Namekian villages for their Dragon Balls, managing to steal four in total. Soon, Zarbon informs Frieza that Cui has just arrived and is pursuing Vegeta. Moreover, two large power levels have appeared but suddenly vanished (referring to Gohan and Krillin) and that their men are currently investigating. Frieza says their main problem should be dealing with the traitor, Vegeta. During his battle with Cui, Vegeta displays the ability to control his battle power at will, which causes both Cui's and Zarbon's Scouters to explode at the same time. Zarbon's says there must have been a malfunction and his Scouter managed to pick up a reading of 22,000 from Vegeta. Dodoria uses his upgraded Scouter instead and shocked to discover Vegeta has a power level over 24,000, surpassing them both. Frieza remarks that the increase is hardly a surprise, as Vegeta's duties as a soldier kept him on the front lines and his battle on Earth has taught him a few tricks. The tyrant states that if Zarbon and Dodoria work together, they should be able to defeat Vegeta. He points out that he and Vegeta have the same goal of immortality and Vegeta couldn't possibly beat him without it. Frieza recalls that Vegeta was often disrespectful, but he must be desperate to openly betray him. Dodoria then informs Frieza that Vegeta managed to kill Cui. Frieza is unphased and they should focus their efforts on finding the fifth Dragon Ball. After detecting ten Namekians nearby, Frieza decides to visit them and warns his men to stay vigilant, as Vegeta isn't the only one attempting to ruin his plans. On their way to the village, they unknowingly pass by Gohan, Krillin, and Bulma, who hide in a cave to avoid being spotted. When they arrive in the village, Frieza discover five Namekians hiding in a house. Frieza asks Moori where the other villagers are, however, the elder attempts to fool Frieza by speaking in the Namekian's native language, but Frieza already knows that Namekians are entirely capable of speaking in a language they all understand. Moori says the others are working in the field and continuously denies knowing the Dragon Ball's whereabouts, but Frieza and Dodoria recall how another village elder had told them that only one deemed worthy by all seven elders would be allowed to claim the Dragon Balls. After killing one of his kin, the elder revealed that the Grand Elder created all seven Dragon Balls and how every village has possession of a Dragon Ball. When that elder had refused to give up the Dragon Ball, Frieza had killed him but was still able to find the Dragon Ball of that village. Frieza then informs Moori and the other village Namekians that the other three Dragon Balls were easy to obtain as everyone was "happy" to oblige. Moori, however, knows that Frieza is lying. Frieza then says that they obliged quickly when he did "this", before ordering Zarbon to kill everyone besides Moori and the children. Angered, Moori says he would gladly forfeit his life than give his Dragon Ball to Frieza. The tyrant threatens to kill the children too, which surprises Moori, who is sickened anyone would murder children. Just then, however, three warrior Namekians fly into the village. Frieza says they’ve taken a break from their work to come get killed. Moori tells them to not to underestimate them. Frieza asks Dodoria what their battle powers are. He checks and says they’re each about 1,000; no match for them. Moori realizes those devices are how they’re able to find the small villages on their vast planet. The warriors easily defeat the weaker soldiers, with Frieza noting that they are able to control their battle powers. Dodoria sets down his two Dragon Balls and asks Frieza if he can get rid of those three, who tells him to do as he pleases. Moori suddenly fires a Finger Beam at Dodoria’s scouter and blows it up. Dodoria laughs and says an attack like that won’t defeat him. The elder then jumps up into the air and starts firing more ki blasts down, destroying the scouters of all the defeated henchmen as well. Zarbon realizes he’s targeting the Scouters and an angry Dodoria screams that he’ll kill them all. He then flies up into the air after the elder, but Frieza yells at him to kill the three younger ones first. After Dodoria brutally murders the warriors, Frieza tells Moori he must realize it’s pointless to defy him any further and asks him to come down. The elder hesitates a bit, but finally comes back down to the ground. Frieza is glad he’s being a little more obedient and asks him to hand over the Dragon Ball, otherwise the children will die. Moori relents, so long as they promise to leave the children out of this and go away, before handing the Ball over to Appule. Frieza asks him to tell them where the other two Dragon Balls are. The elder refuses to sell out the other Namekians and Frieza says he’ll just have to die, along with the children. Dodoria suddenly attacks him. He tells Frieza this isn’t what he promised and he has what he wanted. Frieza retorts by saying without all seven Dragon Balls, there’s no point. And without Scouters, the elder should tell them the location of the remaining two Dragon Balls. Moori says he would still rather die than tell them. Zarbon asks if they can really search for the Dragon Balls without scouters and Frieza tells him they’re sure to find something if they track down the remaining Namekians. Moori tells Dende and Cargo to run away. As Moori prepares to attack, he is surprised by a blast (either Frieza's Death Beam in the Dragon Ball manga or Dodoria's Mouth Energy Wave in the Dragon Ball Z anime) that passes by him and kills Cargo instantly. While he is distracted by this, Dodoria kills Moori by breaking his neck. The only survivor, Dende, cries and tries to run away. Dodoria chases after him and prepares to kill him as well him. Just then, Gohan makes his presence known and screams, “Stop!”, surprising Frieza and Zarbon. Gohan suddenly flies in and kicks Dodoria in the face, knocking him through a house. Gohan says he’s going to beat him up, and Dodoria starts to stand up, when Krillin flies in with another kick to the face. Krillin then grabs Dende and tells Gohan they need to escape, and so the three of them fly off. Frieza notes that they aren’t Namekians. Dodoria gets up again, angry, and Frieza yells at him to go chase and capture them, so he flies off as well. Frieza wonders to himself who those two were. Having grown tired of waiting for Dodoria, Frieza calls him useless and sends Zarbon and Appule to find the last two Dragon Balls while he returns with the other five to the ship. Frieza thinks that Vegeta most likely found a Dragon Ball and is sure to come after the others in his possession. Frieza believes that when Vegeta does come, they’ll just take his Dragon Ball, and have all seven. Frieza lifts the five Dragon Balls off the ground telekinetically, and zooms off with them in his pod. Later, Zarbon returns to the ship to tell Frieza about his findings. Frieza asks Zarbon if he’s found a village, but Zarbon says no, though he has defeated Vegeta. Frieza is relieved and asks if Vegeta is dead, but Zarbon says he didn’t confirm the corpse, but the odds are slim, considering the severity of his injuries. Frieza asks why he didn’t confirm Vegeta’s death, and Zarbon explains that he was underwater. Frieza figures that Zarbon neglected to confirm it because he didn’t want to get his hair wet and that Vegeta could have found a Dragon Ball and hidden it. Zarbon says it was inexcusable, and he’ll confirm it immediately. In the anime, Orlen arrives at the ship and says he’s found a village, but it’s already been destroyed and its Dragon Ball taken (in the manga, it was Appule who revealed this). Zarbon figures it must’ve been Vegeta, and he did hide a Dragon Ball. Orlen lets it slip that he killed a survivor without first asking where Vegeta may have hidden the Dragon Ball, angering Frieza, who then kills Orlen without a second thought, zapping him with Eye Lasers as Zarbon watched in fear. Frieza tells Zarbon to bring Vegeta back to the ship, and he’d better hope he’s still alive, or he’ll follow Orlen’s example. He orders Appule to contact Planet Frieza and have the Ginyu Force come here in five days with replacement Scouters. Zarbon panics and asks why he wants the Ginyu Force's help, and Frieza says he has a premonition. A strange feeling that a strong Saiyan exists somewhere in the universe and is destined to become his enemy, however, he is unsure whether or not if it's Vegeta. Zarbon says if it’s not Vegeta, then it must be the Saiyan from Earth or his half-breed son, though they’re considerably weaker than Vegeta. Frieza asks Zarbon if he thinks he is delusional and tells him to hurry and bring Vegeta before he loses his patience, and Zarbon quickly flies off. Frieza thinks to himself about the Saiyans having endless fighting potential, though they’re of course no match for him. But in the future, if they continue to sprout up, they could be really troublesome if one became a Super Saiyan. Zarbon returns to the battle area, locates Vegeta's battered body, and takes him to the treatment room in Frieza's ship for Appule to heal him in the rejuvenation chamber. Zarbon reports to Frieza that he captured Vegeta and that he is being healed for further interrogation. Upon healing, Vegeta blasts out of the tank, and the explosion kills Appule. Zarbon and Frieza, having heard the noise, run to the treatment room. However, Vegeta blasts a hole in the ship's wall as a distraction and hides. Concluding that he has fled, Frieza sends Zarbon outside the ship to find him. With his captors distracted, Vegeta excitedly races to Frieza's room, where his five Dragon Balls lie unguarded. Zarbon searches the area for Vegeta, but Frieza is impatient. He selfishly blames Zarbon for Vegeta's escape and threatens to kill him if he cannot locate the Saiyan. Realizing that he cannot carry all five Dragon Balls, Vegeta alerts Zarbon and Frieza to his location, then unleashes a blast in the hallway to obscure their vision. Vegeta then blasts a hole in a window and tosses all five balls outside before escaping just in time. Zarbon and Frieza are irate, and Zarbon again begins searching outside the ship to no avail. Zarbon desperately asks Frieza if Vegeta is still on the ship, but Frieza angrily blames Zarbon and says it's his responsibility to find Vegeta. As Vegeta flees unnoticed, swimming in a nearby body of water, a furious Frieza says that he will search the ship's interior and orders Zarbon to search the surrounding area, promising to kill him if he does not capture Vegeta within an hour. Zarbon hurries out in fear and searches for Vegeta, to avoid facing severe consequences. With him not returning within the hour, Frieza concludes that Zarbon has either been killed or run away, and laments not calling the Ginyu Force earlier. Frieza concludes that Vegeta has not yet gathered all seven Dragon Balls, because nothing strange has happened and he is still alive. With the new Scouters, Frieza's forces will be able to find him. After a few days, the Ginyu Force finally land on Planet Namek and present themselves to Frieza with a set of absurd poses. Frieza is visibly unsettled by this display but decides to get down to business quickly. He orders the Ginyu Force to capture Vegeta alive to be interrogated for the Dragon Balls location. Captain Ginyu uses his Scouter and says that Vegeta is traveling with two other people. Frieza thinks that they must be Gohan and Krillin and says that the Ginyu Force can do whatever they want to them. Jeice gives Frieza a box full of the new scouters that he had requested. With their orders set, the Ginyu Force fly off to pursue Vegeta. Ultimately, they fail to do so when Goku arrives on Planet Namek and fights them, eventually defeating them. Ginyu did bring Frieza the Dragon Balls while his comrades fought, with Frieza complimenting Ginyu on his job well done and saying how he should have sent for them much earlier. Ginyu then attempts to commemorate the event by dancing, but Frieza tells him to do it another time. Frieza then attempts to summon Porunga, but had no success, concluding that they needed some unique password only a Namekian would know. While searching for the secret to unlocking the Dragon Balls' power, Frieza finds out that three Namekians are still alive by checking his Scouters. Ginyu then offers to go, but Frieza tells him he will go himself, telling Ginyu to stay at his post, then he speeds towards Nail and Guru, passing by Dende at the same time, yet ignoring his presence, finally arriving at Grand Elder Guru's home where he is confronted by Nail, the strongest of the Namekian warriors on the planet. Nail leads Frieza away from Guru, and fights Frieza. As the battle commences, Nail attempts to fight and lunges for his neck, but to no avail, as Frieza grabs onto Nails' arm and violently rips it off his body. As Nail screams in pain, he quickly regenerates his arm, much to the surprise of Frieza. After a very long and tortuous battle, Frieza insists that Nail tells him how to summon Porunga, but Nail launches a powerful ki attack, to no success. Frieza then lands a blow to Nail's nose, while Frieza still demands Nail he tells him about the password. Nail begins laughing, telling Frieza his big mistake about letting Dende go and leaving the Dragon Balls. Frieza then leaves him to die after discovering the fight was a diversion for Dende to reveal the password to Krillin and Gohan as they take the Dragon Balls. While flying towards his ship, he attempts to find the energy of the Ginyu Force, realizing they are not showing up on the scouter. Enraged, he follows in pursuit of the heroes only to find that Porunga, the Namekian Dragon is gone due to Guru's death. He confronts Vegeta, Krillin, Gohan, and Dende after Guru had passed away. He then loses his composure due to the loss of immortality and becomes even more enraged to the fact that he did not see this coming earlier. He then faces off with a much more powerful Vegeta, capable of possibly holding his own for a bit against Frieza's strength. Spurred on by Vegeta (having learned via Zarbon about Frieza's use of suppressing transformations), Frieza briefly fakes out by causing his armor to explode out and, after divulging to Vegeta his role in the murder of his father, then unveils his second form, to the complete shock of Gohan, Krillin, Vegeta and Dende, as the power not only increasing frightens them, but his appearance as well. With this newfound power, this allows him to defeat Vegeta. After Frieza uses the Death Storm attack, he takes his time to decide who should die first, and chooses Krillin. He injures Krillin by impaling him through the chest with his left horn and torturing him. He then throws him into the Namekian sea, taunting Gohan with his friend's limp body. Gohan responds in an incredible fury and proceeds to pound Frieza with punches, kicks and a barrage of ki blasts. Frieza then proceeds to pummel him as a response, and just before he can finish him off, Krillin, healed by Dende, shoots a Destructo Disc at his tail, chopping the tip of it off. Frieza chases Krillin in a diversion and returns to the others when Frieza decides to finish them off. Fortunately, Piccolo joins the battle and is able to go blow to blow with Frieza thanks to his fusion with Nail. Frieza and Piccolo are at even power, neither one of them being able to gain a significant upper hand. Piccolo then powers up further, but soon confused and shocked when he sees that Frieza is able to surpass his new speed. As the fight continues, Piccolo is revealed to be holding back because of his weighted clothing. Eager to demonstrate even more of his power to Piccolo, Frieza once again transforms, unlocking more of his seemingly endless power. Piccolo attempts to hold his own, but to no avail. He now tries to outrun Frieza, but Frieza's speed is simply too much for Piccolo. Frieza then brutally attacks Piccolo with his Crazy Finger Beam. Gohan again gets angry, and fires the Full Power Masenko, which Frieza struggles with, but eventually deflects back with ease. Piccolo protects Gohan by firing a blast at it, deflecting it away. Frieza notes Gohan's growing power and realizes that he is a Saiyan, but doubts Vegeta is his father (he still believes that only Raditz, Nappa, and Vegeta escaped Planet Vegeta's destruction), and finally, he unveils his true form, stressing that he intended to give his foes the "pleasure" of observing it before they died; in the anime, he promises to show them "a terror greater than hell." In his new form, Frieza first kills Dende, who Frieza had found out had been healing the heroes when he saw Dende healing Piccolo just before transforming into his final form. Piccolo, Krillin and Gohan attack Frieza, but Frieza easily dodges their flurry of kicks and punches. After receiving another Saiyan Power at his request, Vegeta announces himself as a Super Saiyan and fights Frieza, attempting to hit Frieza with an intense flurry of punches. However, Frieza's speed is still far too much for Vegeta to handle, leaving Vegeta in a quiet state of fear. With all his power, Vegeta fires a Final Burst Cannon at Frieza directly, but the tyrant is still far his superior and easily kicks the beam away. After Vegeta loses his hope, Frieza proceeds to torture and punish him. Frieza wraps his tail around Vegeta's neck, lifts him up and begins torturing him by repeatedly punching Vegeta's spine while strangling him with his tail. As Piccolo, Krillin and Gohan watch in horror, Frieza sadistically reminds them that they can assist Vegeta if they want to, as part of some sick joke. Just as Frieza is about to slay Vegeta, the healed Goku arrives on the battlefield, ready to fight Frieza. The long and devastating fight begins, with Goku dodging Frieza's first melee attack and lands a hard kick to Frieza's cheek, sending him flying. Gohan, Krillin, and Piccolo are shocked at Goku's intense power, remarking that they couldn't follow their movements at all. Frieza then tries to use the Barrage Death Beam to injure him, to no avail, as Goku deflects them away, even hitting them away from the others. Through a smoke cloud, Frieza believes he has already defeated Goku. However, the Saiyan remains standing unharmed after the smoke is cleared. Frieza is even shocked that he could move them away from his friends while deflecting the beams. Vegeta, believing that Goku has finally become a full-fledged Super Saiyan, taunts Frieza, even though he is too severely beaten even to stand. Frieza, proud of his past accomplishments and irritated, smirks before sending his Death Beam through the Saiyan Prince's heart. Teetering on the brink of death, Vegeta is able to tell the newly healed Goku of Frieza's genocide of the Saiyan race, imploring him to take revenge on behalf of all Saiyans. As Vegeta finishes his plea to Goku, he finally dies from his injury. Goku, saddened by Vegeta's death, buries him and vows to finish Frieza. Goku angrily reminds Frieza that he treats lives as disposable; he had taken the lives of many peaceful people, even children, for his amusement. Goku then tells him that it's his turn to suffer this time. Frieza tells him that he believes the "Super Saiyan" is just a legend. However, Goku doesn't care about the legend; he is going to stop Frieza once and for all. Krillin, Gohan, and Piccolo leave the area so that Goku is not distracted in the battle. Goku and Frieza then engage each other again. In melee, they are proven to be equal in strength, with neither of them able to land any hits. Irritated by this even battle, Frieza fires an energy wave at Goku, causing him to dodge it by using a quick Kamehameha to push himself up into the air quickly. This causes a cloud of smoke, so Frieza fires rays of death beams through it to blast Goku. Goku realizes that Frieza cannot sense him, but before he can develop a plan, Frieza flies above, spots him, and continues firing. Gohan is nearly hit by one of the beams, though Piccolo is able to get him and himself out of the way. Frieza manages to land a downward knuckle attack on Goku and fires a wave at the falling Saiyan. Believing he has won again, Goku appears behind him, and they stand back-to-back. Frieza hides for a short time and soon emerges from the water and attacks, firing a ball that Goku barely throws away, after being pushed into a rock formation. Suddenly, a massive spout of magma bursts out of the ground under him, and Frieza uses the dying planet's molten rock against Goku. Goku is hit by Frieza's tail and falls into the pool of exposed lava below. Piccolo flies over and declares Frieza tell him what happened to Goku, and Frieza responds by telling him that he has perished. He adds that he is creating a stew down there and asks Piccolo if he (a Namekian) wants to be added as seasoning. Before Piccolo and Frieza can fight once more, Goku bursts out of the ground. His butt catches on fire for a short time (albeit in humorous fashion). Still, no further damage is done, and Goku pushes the lava back into the ground with a Kamehameha to hold off the planet's explosion for some time. Frieza tries to get the jump on him, but Goku is saved by Piccolo, who gives him an early warning. Goku urges Frieza to leave the planet alone during the battle, and so Frieza listens to him. Frieza realizes that his opponent defeated the Ginyu Force and not Vegeta. Frieza uses the hiding tactic again, and it works on Goku, who is kicked into the ocean. Thinking back to the smoke cloud where Frieza could not detect him without seeing him with his eyes, Goku comes up with a plan to hurt Frieza. Goku fires two Kamehameha torpedo balls and sets them in place underwater. Meanwhile, Frieza does not believe Goku to be dead this time and waits for him to return to the surface. Goku, still underwater, fires the first torpedo. Frieza barely moves out of the way before Goku fires the second one. Frieza again dodges in the nick of time and is enraged. Suddenly, Goku appears from above and lands a clean boot to Frieza's cheek (earlier, it was the right cheek, and this time it was the left). Frieza crashes into a rock formation upon hitting the ground, rendering the tactic a success. For a moment, everyone believes the battle is over already. However, Frieza bursts out of the ground, albeit now showing signs of minor damage. With this, Frieza admits that Goku is the first person other than his parents to cause him pain in his true form. Frieza decides to have some fun with him for causing him this "sensation." Frieza soon realizes that his opponent is the son of the Saiyan that gave him such trouble years before. Frieza and Goku's battle resumes, with Frieza moving some rocks out of the ground and launching them at Goku. However, he dodges them with ease. Frieza uses his mind to control them, however, so that they keep coming back, forcing Goku to smash them and blow them up with an energy blast instead. Frieza steps it up a notch, this time picking up a whole mountain with his telekinetic powers and throwing it at Goku, all while laughing. Instead of dodging the mountain, Goku tries to hold onto it and stop it in its tracks. Goku is eventually pushed into another mountain by it, but Goku cuts right through the mountain and evades danger. Frieza uses the surprise tactic again and appears above Goku suddenly. Frieza traps Goku in a ball he creates, rendering Goku unable to escape. Frieza smashes him around like a soccer ball but prevents him from smashing into the ground, for the ball will explode if it is touched by anything other than Frieza himself. After some more bouncing around, Frieza finally blows up the ball, sending it and Goku smashing into the ground and causing a massive explosion. Minutes after the massive explosion, Piccolo realizes that Frieza is just warming up and that he could destroy the entire planet if he wanted to. He also tells them that Frieza is just playing with Goku right now. Krillin and Gohan believe Goku to be dead in the aftermath. However, Piccolo says that Goku is also playing, and he shows them Goku himself, standing tall and almost unscathed, albeit with damaged clothes from the explosion. Piccolo assumes that he had run fast enough to get out of the blast radius. He calls them both monsters - one good, one evil. Goku and Frieza meet up again, stare each other down, and prepare for the next round of their grueling battle. Frieza gives him a proposition in his native language, which the sentence he says translates to "let's get down to business." Goku agrees, and both fighters decide to get serious. A stare-down occurs, and Piccolo tells Krillin and Gohan that this battle is to be decided for the fate of the entire universe - and only the three of them will have the opportunity to witness it. However, Piccolo hopes that he will get to do more than watch. Frieza gives Goku a break and asks him whether they should fight on the ground or in the air. Goku chooses the ground, lying that he's a ground kind of guy, but he is actually trying to remove the danger of Frieza's devastating power in the air. Piccolo notices this very strategy when they pick their battle site. Frieza picks a small, flat island for the final battle to take place, and they both fly over to it. Goku removes his orange shirt while Frieza taunts him, asking if Goku would rather be buried or cremated when he is killed. Immediately after, Frieza gives Goku another break - he allows Goku to battle him without the tyrant using his hands. Jokingly, he says that he won't break his nails this way. A cocky and confident Goku asks Frieza if he's sure he doesn't want to use his hands in battle, but Frieza still agrees not to. After another stare-down, Goku lunges forward, and both fight in melee. Though Frieza cannot punch Goku, he easily dodges each of his attacks. After a lot of dodging between each combatants Frieza whacks Goku in the face with his tail. He then proceeds to slap him multiple times with the powerful tail. Frieza hits him hard one last time, sending Goku crashing to the ground. After Goku recovers, both pause for a short time, and Goku finds the battle exciting to him, yet Frieza asks him if he still believes he can somehow beat the tyrant. He lunges at Frieza, and they go at it again, but Frieza still easily dodges Goku's attacks. For a short time, Frieza resorts to blocking before breaking off. Goku attacks again but is wrapped around on the leg by Frieza's tail. Frieza throws him towards the ground, but Goku lands on his hands and pulls Frieza down with the leg's force the tyrant gripped with his tail. Frieza lands, but Goku grabs onto his tail, rendering Frieza unable to get away. Goku jokes about Frieza's poor hygiene, pouring him on. Frieza urges him to let go - and Goku does just that, and flings him into the air. As Goku flies in front to score a hit, Frieza disappears again. Using more rocks to distract Goku, he lands another hit with his tail to Goku's stomach. However, Goku manages to grab Frieza's tail again. Goku jokes around again, saying that he's feeling a little deja vu, enraging Frieza even more. Frieza fights him off and goes on the offense, attempting to land kicks. After some more back-to-back even brawling, both land a kick on one another before dodging and blocking again. Frieza finally ends the scuffle by wrapping his tail around Goku's head. Frieza holds his tight grip, bringing Goku to his knees. Resorting to desperate measures, Goku bites Frieza's tail, releasing the tyrant's grip and causing Frieza sudden (though comedic) pain. This gives Goku his chance, kicking Frieza in the face and lands many punches to the tyrant's stomach. Frieza tries to dodge more but is punched in the face by Goku. He is then kicked in the groin and uppercut. Frieza finally gets the upper hand with a strong right hand breaking the "no hands" rule and knocking Goku down. The aftermath leaves Frieza winded and Goku back on his feet. Frieza soon reveals that he has been holding back this whole time, and could easily destroy Goku if desired. But before Frieza does, he asks Goku one question: if he joined him, it would suck if all of his power went to waste. Goku quickly refuses, but Frieza continues, telling him that he can have anything he ever wanted - he could live like a god. Or, he could choose to suffer and die now. Goku tells him that he already has everything he wanted, and Frieza finishes by telling him he will die. He then tells Goku that he has only been using 1% of his power (anime only), and Goku believes this to be a bluff. Frieza then states that with 50% of his power, he could easily defeat Goku. Frieza then increases his power to 50% of his maximum, and Goku teleports behind him. Frieza prepares for battle and elbows Goku in the face at immense speed. Frieza elbows Goku a second time, causing blood to fly out of Goku's nose, but the Saiyan stays on his feet. Goku is wrapped around the head by Frieza's tail again and is elbowed in the stomach. This time Goku struggles to stay up and then falls to his knees. Goku is astonished at Frieza's incredible speed. The battle continues, and Frieza easily beats Goku, with Goku completely unable to keep up. Goku attempts to use his Kaio-ken x10 during this battle, but Frieza stills beats him using less than half of his maximum power. Goku then goes desperate and attempts to use x20 Kaio-ken and a Kamehameha, but to no significant avail (the best he could do was slightly char Frieza's hands), as Frieza manages to diffuse the blast with 50% of his power. However, he does become alarmingly aware of his opponent's remarkable abilities. After taking another beating, a severely battered Goku attempts to create a Large Spirit Bomb by calling on the energies of Namek's solar system as a final resort, as Namek did not have enough life on the planet to make the Spirit Bomb powerful. Piccolo, Krillin and Gohan are able to distract the tyrant long enough, with Piccolo kicking him into the ocean and later Krillin and Gohan firing energy balls at him. Just before Frieza can vaporize Krillin and Gohan, Goku fires the large Spirit Bomb, heavily wounding Frieza to such an extent that his tail ended up severed yet again, and his left eye was left temporarily blinded. With everyone believing the warlord to be dead, the heroes take the time to relax, until Krillin notices that Frieza has emerged from the blast's crater. Frieza retaliates by mortally wounding Piccolo with a Death Beam (in the manga, Frieza intentionally fired at Piccolo, while in the anime, Frieza fired at Goku and then Piccolo pushed him out of the way and took the blast instead). Sarcastically "congratulating" Goku on coming the closest of anyone to actually killing him with the Large Spirit Bomb technique, Frieza then, in an attempt to prevent Krillin and Gohan from being able to follow through with Goku's request that they get to safety, uses his telekinetic powers to make Krillin fly into the air and, despite Goku's pleas, he murders Krillin by causing his ki to detonate from within him. In the Japanese version as well as Kai, Frieza also proceeded to threaten to murder Gohan in a similar manner. Already bordering on the edge of his rage, Goku is pushed over the edge, his rage exploding, causing Frieza to inadvertently create what he had always feared: a Super Saiyan. At a loss of words, Frieza could only stare at Goku unable to believe that Super Saiyans do exist. Frieza makes a final attempt at shooting down Gohan as he was fleeing with Piccolo, but Goku, with rapid speed proceeds to grab Frieza's hand and crush it in a vicegrip while lecturing him on how Frieza only wants to make him suffer and lacks any remorse, with Frieza then barely yanking his hand away and realizing Super Saiyans do indeed exist. In the ensuing battle, Super Saiyan Goku and Frieza trade blows, but as the fight progresses, Frieza's 50% power clearly proves to be less than adequate against the Super Saiyan; even his Barrage Death Beam have little effect on the newly empowered Saiyan. Frieza attempts to remind Goku that the Saiyans were as ruthless as Frieza himself is in their barbarism, to which Goku replies that the Saiyans have "paid for their mistakes" now, causing Frieza to ask whether that was the reason he killed them easily. Frieza fires a Death Beam in anger, however it simply hits Goku's chin and pushes his head upwards. He lowers his head with just a minor scratch. In frustration, Frieza sends a Death Ball into the core of the planet, starting a chain reaction that will destroy Namek in five minutes (revealing immediately afterwards that he held back too much of his power for the Death Ball to be a complete success). Frieza unleashes 70% and then 100% of his power, which Goku requested, wanting to fight him using all his strength. Goku also notes that Frieza wanted it this way because if he had not, he would have fired at the planet again and destroyed it. At this point, Frieza launches a terrific assault against Super Saiyan Goku, who had not expected Frieza's power to be as high as it is, with Frieza notably landing a high knee to the face, giving Goku a bloody nose. In the anime, he also gave Goku a challenging enough fight that the latter was forced to fake his death to buy enough time to recover, with Frieza also briefly fighting Gohan until Goku arrived to continue the fight. Also, after Goku let slip that Porunga was now active, Frieza then attempted to make his wish for immortality. Unfortunately for him, wishes to the Dragon required speaking in the Namekian tongue, with Dende instead managing to give the wish to evacuate everyone but Frieza and Goku, with Frieza also briefly witnessing a revived Vegeta. Frieza also ended up learning that Goku partly had the wish given in such a manner to ensure there aren't any more innocents nearby and thus not hold back. Super Saiyan Goku soon realized that after sustaining so much damage in his 50% state, Frieza's body would no longer be able to handle his 100% power for very long. Super Saiyan Goku and Frieza face off. Eventually, after a very long battle, Super Saiyan Goku gets the battle under his control, delivering a final momentous blow to the tyrant that symbolically ends Frieza's reign. Seeing Frieza's power slipping fast now, Super Saiyan Goku decides to call off the fight, claiming it would be pointless to continue, as Frieza is losing strength rapidly and Super Saiyan Goku had already humbled the tyrant. Humiliated, Frieza refuses to relent, attacking Super Saiyan Goku with two of his Death Saucers. As Super Saiyan Goku dodges the attacks, Frieza ironically becomes distracted long enough to be bifurcated by his own attack. Barely clinging to life, but desperate to survive, Frieza begs for mercy, which Super Saiyan Goku hesitantly provides, giving him a little of his ki. Frieza's pride refuses to allow him to be beaten and saved by a Saiyan "monkey", and he expends what little energy he has left to attack Goku. Overcome with anger, Super Saiyan Goku fires an Angry Kamehameha that consumes both Frieza's attack and what remains of him in the process, finally defeating him and avenging countless people across the universe. Frieza-Androids Interlude
Frieza beats Goku to Earth (despite his ill intentions towards Earth and all who lived there, Frieza notes It's a good planet on first viewing) and orders his henchmen to find and slaughter its inhabitants, with Frieza keen on killing his enemy's friends himself. However, his army is torn apart by a mysterious youth. Frieza dismisses his challenger as an insolent child, and pays him almost no heed until the boy reveals himself as another Super Saiyan. Even then, Frieza initially dismisses the boy's claim as a bluff and laughs it off, only to express shock when the boy proves his claim valid by transforming right in front of him and his father. Dumbstruck, Frieza makes several different efforts to kill the youth, such as energy blasts, each of which is parried easily (this occurs only in the anime while the youth wasted no time and killed Frieza after a single attack in the manga. Also, Gohan implies that Frieza was holding back 50% of his power in the manga whereas the anime has Frieza going all out). He then plays his trump card in the form of a Supernova (a Death Ball ten times the size of the one that destroyed Planet Namek). Even this is nonchalantly brushed away, until a mortified Frieza causes it to detonate with another shot of ki. Thinking him dead, both father and son are stunned when the youth fires a Burning Attack out of nowhere. Fuming, Frieza becomes oblivious to his opponent's position, and is surprised and sliced in half by the Saiyan youth before being cut to pieces and then vaporized with an energy blast, King Cold meets a similar fate, with the youth obliterating him with the God Breaker when the tyrant tries to attack him. Despite this, the common myth throughout the universe remains that Goku defeated Frieza on Namek. In the alternate future timelines of Future Trunks and Cell, it is implied that Future Goku used Instant Transmission to teleport to Earth and killed Future Frieza and Future King Cold instead of Future Trunks. |

Standard Equipment
- Frieza's Spaceship: The large ship designed by Kikono and utilized by Frieza and his men for interplanetary travel. Frieza has had three ships over the course of his life with his first ship being the one he used during the Genocide of the Saiyans up until it was destroyed during the Battle on Planet Namek when Namek exploded.
- Frieza's Hover Pod: A floating, egg-shaped vehicle used by Frieza as a means of transportation. Even though he is extraordinarily powerful and perfectly capable of walking and flying, Frieza (in his first form) seems to prefer using the hover pod as a means of getting around, even inside his own spaceship. The reason for this is unknown, although it is possible, he sees it as a status symbol.
- Scouter: For most of his life, Frieza lacked the ability to naturally sense ki and relied heavily on Scouters to detect ki. Frieza wears a scouter just before attacking Planet Vegeta and takes it off in order to fire his Eye Lasers at King Vegeta's brigade. Frieza's scouter on Namek was a newer model of the same color that was personally given to him by the Ginyu Force. Frieza uses this scouter to find Guru's home. When Frieza personally fights Nail, his scouter measures the lone Namekian's power level (42,000), which somewhat impresses the emperor. After having severely beaten-up Nail, Frieza uses his scouter to contact the Ginyu Force, only to find out they are all defeated. While fighting against Vegeta, Gohan, Krillin and Dende, Frieza uses his scouter to measure Vegeta's power, ending the conflict when Frieza's scouter blows up due to Vegeta's power now rivaling his own, apparently, much to Frieza's disbelief.
- King Cold's Spaceship: A large spaceship owned by his father King Cold, which Frieza uses when he first visits Planet Vegeta with his father in Broly. The ship later recovers Frieza after his battle on Planet Namek and is used by Mecha Frieza and King Cold to invade Earth. However, it is destroyed during their fatal conflict with Future Trunks.
Notable Techniques
- Survivability: Frieza has the ability to survive anywhere, in any condition without sustenance, even the most horrifying injuries, a trait which was passed onto Cell. This is shown when he manages to survive being blasted into Namek's core and then the planet exploding with him inside it, he still survives even with his lower body sliced off and half of his head blown off, while floating in the vacuum of space. His most impressive feat in this area being how he managed to stay alive and conscious even when sliced into small pieces by Future Trunks. Even when in pieces, Frieza was still able to attempt to put himself back together via telekinesis - though he fell apart very quickly.
- Bio Suit creation: Frieza's race possess the natural ability to grow natural armor that they can shed at any time. In his true form, Frieza always wears the Z Fighting Suit. It is implied that Frieza can control the color of his Bio Suit in his Ultimate Evolution as he claims he made it gold so it would be easy to understand how strong he had become to his enemies.
- Pure Progress: Owing to his status as a mutant prodigy, Frieza is capable of growing in power at an alarming rate over a short period of time.
- Flight: The ability of flight through the manipulation of ki.
- Ki Sense: At the time of the Battle on Namek, like the rest of his minions, who use scouters as a compromise, Frieza seems to be unable to sense the ki of other people. However, he is able to have a glimpse of a "powerful Saiyan developing and heading to Namek" before the person in question (Goku) actually appeared in front of him. Also, given enough time, Frieza can lock his senses and his mind onto his opponent to read his/her position at any given moment; he demonstrates this when he begins fighting Goku with 50% of his power. Frieza was able to sense Jiren's energy during the Tournament of Power. In Shin Budokai, Frieza gains the ability to sense ki and suppress his own ki, and he also displays the ability in Dragon Ball GT.
- Godly ki sense: Frieza is able to sense godly ki after his four months of training in the Golden Frieza Saga, as he notes that he can sense Super Saiyan Blue Goku's power, and feels that it is less than his.
- Ki Transfer: The ability to transfer a portion of one's ki to someone else, used in the Universal Survival Saga when Frieza did this to Goku, in a twist of fate seeing as Goku did this towards Frieza on Namek.
- Ki Blast: The most basic form of energy wave.
- Death Beam: To perform the technique, the user extends his right arm and fires a small, thin, very fast and concentrated laser-like beam of ki from his index finger, which barrels down and pierces through the opponent. The user is able to fire the attack very quickly, while maintaining precise aim. Frieza has also been shown firing the beam from his left hand's thumb.
- Death Bullet: The first method has the user prepare his index and middle fingers on both of his hands, and then he fires a Death Beam at the opponent at a very rapid rate, inflicting a great deal of damage. The second method has the user simply flicking his finger with deadly force.
- Full Power Death Bullet: A powerful finger blast shot from the index finger.
- Finger Beam: The user holds out their index finger and releases an energy beam from their fingertip.
- Barrage Death Beam: First, the user extends his index finger at the target as if he were to fire the Death Beam. Then, he fires multiple Death Beams at a very fast rate, inflicting a great deal of damage.
- Eye Laser: The user shoots laser-like beams from both eyes. The potency of the Eye Laser technique varies, but most of them are very fast and able to nullify weak attacks and small projectiles, as well as cripple opponents and damage other objects.
- Floating Attack: Eye Lasers used in the air.
- Invisible Eye Blast: A Kiai shot from the eyes.
- Death Ball: Frieza lights a spark of energy on his index finger. Once enough energy is gathered, this spark may grow to the size of a small moon and is thrown towards the target. Typically, this attack is used to destroy planets or as a last-ditch effort to kill an opponent.
- Black Hole Death Ball: The basic version of the Death Ball, charged by Frieza for use against Goku on Namek, and for use against Kale and Caulifla in the Tournament of Power, but was never fired on either occasion.
- Supernova: The user raises his finger and gathers their energy in the form of a giant yellow-orange, sun-like energy sphere. Once it is ready, the user launches the attack against the target. Like the normal Death Ball, it is mostly used to destroy planets, or as a last ditch-effort to kill an enemy.
- Destroy The Planet!: Frieza puts the palms of his hands together in front of his chest and brings them apart as he forms a pink energy sphere. Then, he raises it upward and charges it with more power, changing it into a red and orange energy sphere and making it bigger and more powerful with additional streaks of black electricity. Finally, he fires the attack at the opponent, inflicting a massive amount of damage. When thrown into a planet, it is shown that it tunnels into the ground until it destroys the planet's core.
- Death Comet: Frieza fires several energy waves coming out of the aura around his body.
- Whirlwind Blow: By lightly blowing, the user produce strong winds that formed a tornado. Then, the tornado lifts the opponent into the air and throws them a great distance away.
- Death Storm: Frieza raises his hand and opens it to release a giant Exploding Wave.
- Death Fork: Frieza charges at the opponent to impale them in the chest with one of his horns. Next, he shifts his head up and down, further injuring the opponent and causing more blood to leak out of them. Finally, Frieza throws the opponent off his horn down to the ground.
- Kiai: It is a technique where the user affects the air currents around him with ki to produce powerful shockwaves in order to strike the opponent.
- Telekinesis: A technique that allows the user to manipulate objects and other people with the power of one's mind.
- Psycho Blast: The performer uses telekinesis to lift a medium-sized to large boulder from the ground nearby, and then throws it at the opponent, inflicting moderate damage.
- Imprisonment Ball: Frieza appears behind the opponent and holds his hand out, ensnaring them in an inescapable golden sphere of energy. He then toys around with this containment like a soccer ball. When Frieza is finished beating the victim around, he kicks the ball away, where it detonates on contact with anything other than Frieza himself. The resulting implosion is so immense it creates a vacuum that sucks in anybody near by.
- Psychic Move: Frieza raises his hand and swipes it sideways, creating a razor-sharp storm of Ki blades that slice the opponent and create a red explosion, sending them flying back. The attack usually leaves a large crescent-shaped crater.
- Death Psycho Bomb: Frieza catches the opponent with a small, invisible energy sphere shot from his index finger in a fashion similar to his Death Beam. Then, he raises his arm upward, controlling and pulling the opponent high in the air with telekinesis. Finally, Frieza clenches his hand into a fist, detonating the opponent's ki and causing them to explode.
- Gigantic Rock Throw: The user picks up a boulder in front of them and throws it at the opponent, inflicting considerable damage.
- Death Psychokinesis: Frieza imprisons his foe using Imprisonment Ball and then bombards them with blocks of Kachi Katchin.
- Death Wave: To use it, Frieza puts his middle and index fingers together and charges an energy sphere on the tips. He then swings the energy sphere around, creating a large Death Beam in the form of a giant, razor-sharp energy blade that can slice through anything.
- Nova Strike: First, the user charges up and surrounds their body in a sphere of energy. Then, charges at the opponent using the energy sphere as a shield, headbutting them and inflicting a massive amount of damage.
- Death Saucer: A chasing energy disk attack that can be controlled by the creator to change direction. The Death Saucer can be created in pairs, and is able to lock onto the ki signature of a target. As long as the original user maintains their concentration, the Death Saucer will continue to follow the victim. Once concentration lapses, the attack can wind up anywhere.
- Death Cannon: Frieza holds one of his hands in front of him with the other hand supporting it (in a manner similar to the Explosive Demon Wave). Then, he fires a large purplish-pink energy wave or energy sphere at the opponent, inflicting a huge amount of damage. The blast creates a huge mushroom cloud explosion on impact and has an electrical aura surrounding the explosion.
- Red Energy Blast: A large red energy wave.
- Punishing Blaster: Frieza gathers pink energy in his hand and thrusts it forward to fire a large energy wave at the opponent, inflicting a high amount of damage.
- Red Energy Blast: A large red energy wave.
- Ruthless Blow: The attack starts off with Frieza saying "Out of my way!", he charges towards the opponent at high speed, then he uses Rapid Movement (disappearing from the opponent's line of sight). The opponent suddenly feels a stabbing pain, and discovers to their shock and horror that Frieza has thrust his hand/palm into their back. Frieza ends the attack by pulling his hand out of the opponent's back and letting them fall helplessly to the ground.
- Death Raid: Frieza surrounds his body with aura and dashes straight at the opponent, hitting them in the stomach with a powerful punch. Or Frieza jets into the air and fires a powerful orange ki blast at his opponent.
- Frieza Head Smash: A flying headbutt.
- Punishing Rush: Frieza shouts "Here I go!" as he elbows the opponent in the stomach and hits them on their legs with his tail, turning them around. He then double slaps the opponent on their back, knocking them away and teleporting in front to backhand punch them in the face, inflicting a high amount of damage.
- It's Just Getting Exciting!: First, as he asks "How would you like it?", Frieza knees the opponent in their stomach and kicks them up into the air. Then, he appears above the opponent to fly down and punch them down into the ground, inflicting a high amount of damage.
- 50% Power: First, Frieza snickers as he elbows the opponent in their face. Then, he teleports behind the opponent and knocks them up off the ground with a low roundhouse kick. Next, he catches the opponent by their neck with his tail and brings them closer to elbow them in the ribs. Finally, Frieza says "I enjoyed that" as he tosses the opponent away with his tail, inflicting a great deal of damage.
- Death Break: As he shouts "I'll never give up!", Frieza punches his opponent in the stomach. He then attacks and knocks the opponent away up into the air with two roundhouse kicks. Finally, Frieza appears above the opponent and knocks them down into the ground with a hook kick in their stomach, inflicting a high amount of damage.
- You Thought That Was It?: Before the opponent attacks him, Frieza says "Watch what I can really do!" and dashes across the opponent with a punch to their face. Then, he flies back and elbows the opponent in the face. Finally, he punches them down into the ground, inflicting a high amount of damage.
- Punishing Counter: When the opponent attempts to attack, Frieza turns around and back kicks them in the face. He then moves behind the opponent and blasts them away with a Death Cannon, inflicting a high amount of damage.
- Sonic Warp: Frieza uses a form of rapid movement that moves so fast it looks like he's teleporting.
- Frieza Stance: A Fighting Pose often used by Frieza where he holds both arms down to his sides with his hands out stretched.
- Transforming Ability: It allows the user to transform into a weaker state, and then transform up from it into other stronger forms.
- Crazy Finger Beam: An incredibly fast burst which explodes at a location Frieza points to.
- Vengeance: A combination of many punches and kicks, ending with a Left Chop. Named in the Dragon Ball Z Collectible Card Game.
*First Form: In his First Form, Frieza is at his shortest, child-like in stature and likewise youthful face. He has a large chestnut-shaped skull with two straight horns that protrude at an angle. He also has a tail with a spiked end, which is relatively thick in width, as well as having three talon-like possible toes for feet. When Frieza was a child, his first form appeared different, being much pinker, lacking lines on his arms and legs and not possessing shoulder pads. In his First Form he has purple sections on his head, shoulders, and abdomen. He has pink parts with lines appear on his arms, legs, and cheeks as well as his lilac skin on his face, feet, and hands. He has wristbands and ankle bands with brown sections with lines on the front. He also has a white natural armor covering his chest and shoulders. He has red eye pupils and large dark red lips.
- Second Form: His Second Form appears as a more-mature version to the First Form. It is his tallest form, towering over Piccolo, and his muscle mass grows equally larger, sporting a bulkier and more-defined build. His face also has a more angled jaw-line and sharper nose while his horns grow longer and curve sharply upwards into near right angles. His voice grows noticeably deeper, further giving the illusion of being more mature. its overall appearance is similar to his father, King Cold. The sheer power it produces cannot contain his armor, causing it shatter apart in a violent manner, potentially injuring anyone in the vicinity (Vegeta got a slight cut on his cheek from one of the pieces flying past him), and leaving his body fully exposed.
- Third Form: Frieza's Third Form is the most brutish and imposing of them all, with an extremely elongated skull. His facial features contort and change, with his nose melding into his mouth to form a crude beak. His original horns recede and are now white in color, erupting in pairs along the length of his head. Two pairs of spikes grow out of his back and curve upward, and the armor on his shoulders fling themselves outward like shoulder pads. He stands upright with a slight hunch, giving a more feral demeanor to him. Frieza stated that no one had ever seen this form before. It's unknown what the exact increase of power in this form is, but he is able to completely dominate the Nail-merged Piccolo, who previously overwhelmed Frieza's second form. However, it was implied that said form was ultimately inferior to Gohan's latent potential, as when Gohan briefly unleashed said potential in an attempt to save Piccolo from Frieza, the latter ended up so infuriated by Gohan's interference that he immediately opted to transform into his final form. In the original Funimation dub, Frieza's voice becomes a synchronized duo of his first and second forms' respective voices. This effect was removed in the remastered version, making this form sound like his second form. On a similar note, the original and remastered dubs had Frieza commenting that the form's appearance was such that he's not likely to win any beauty contests in it, though it nevertheless was powerful enough to "kick [Piccolo's] tail."
- Final Form: This form is also referred to as Super Frieza. It is the form that Frieza was born in, thus being his "true" or "base" form. This is the form that allows him to reach his full potential. Drastically differing from his previous transformations, in his Fourth Form, Frieza instead regresses, with his former form cracking and shattering like a shell, becoming a sleek and only somewhat taller version of his first form and his voice becoming higher-pitched again. He overall appears as a white, lizard-like, almost harmless-looking creature; his horns and spikes disappear and his physique becomes streamlined. His skin becomes pure, solid-white with purple sections on his head, shoulders, forearms, abdomen and shins. The purple lined sections on the sides of his face vanish, though the lines on his cheeks remain intact, giving his face an almost mask-like appearance. His arms, legs, cheeks, and tail is longer and white the lilac skin on his face, neck, hands, and feet. At only 1% of this form's true power, he is noted to dwarf the power shown from his previous forms.
- 100% Full Power: Originally, to access his full power, his body becomes noticeably affected by it. Once charging himself to at least 85% strength, the strain of containing this untamed and immense power causes his muscle mass to greatly increase. At 100%, his body becomes broader, and his build engorged compared to his previously sleek frame. This also causes his body to grow noticeably taller, nearly equal to Goku in height. With his power pushed to the absolute limit, giving him strength and durability far greater than normal, he was able to fight nearly on par with Super Saiyan Goku during their final confrontation on Planet Namek. Despite his hulking frame in this state, he shows no apparent decrease in his endurance, speed, or agility. However, due to the strain on his body, he cannot maintain the maximum capacity of it for long, slowly weakening.
- Mecha Frieza: Mecha Frieza, also referred to as Powered-Up Form in the manga, is Frieza rebuilt with cybernetic enhancements by scientists after what remained of the still-living Frieza was salvaged after being physically ruined while caught in Planet Namek's explosion. The whole of the lower half of his body, entire left arm, and right side of his face was replaced with scarring and metal accouterments covering what little was left of his organic self. These enhancements allowed him to exceed the limits imposed by his fully organic form, though by how much or in what way is unknown. It also was capable of generating bioelectricity, as red electrical bolts were seen emanating from him upon arrival at Earth. In the Funimation dub of Dragon Ball Z Kai, this form has a slight mechanical sound to his voice. Despite being outfitted with cybernetics, he is still susceptible to ki-sense unlike the Red Ribbon Army-created cyborgs/androids. In the anime it is said by King Kai that Mecha Frieza's Supernova is ten times stronger than the Death Ball Frieza used to destroy Namek.
Other
Standard Tactics: Frieza will utilize hand to hand techniques along with ki attacks, sometimes he will utilize his telekinesis to overwhelm his opponent. Due to his cockiness, he will always try and fight his opponent holding back due to his belief that he is far superior to them. If the opponent overwhelms his form he will proceed to transform into the next form, even if the opponent doesn't overwhelm him, if they at all give him the belief that they are approaching his power, his paraonoia will cause him to transform.
Weaknesses: Due to the nature of ki draining stamina and energy, Dragon Ball characters ki usage requires them to usually use their higher levels of energy in short bursts, allowing them to not be able to tank or die to far lower attacks such as attacks that have destroyed the planets of several worlds. Frieza is a sadistic and arrogant being that will make sure his opponent suffers before instantly killing them, causing him to not take out an opponent when needed allowing them to find a way to defeat him. Frieza is a massive egotist to the point that he refuses to believe anyone can surpass him and even when the person is shown to surpass him he will make any excuse possible for why he can defeat them. Upon reaching 100% power his ki drains quickly.
Note: Some clips used on the profile come from an anime or movie due to the fact that some abilities from ki use shouldn't function much differently from how they can in canon, along with this sometimes the anime version/video game version of a scene will be used for cleaner visuals. Toriyama himself directly overlooks scenes in the anime and movies and gives Toei the thumbs up[3].

Trivia
- In-universe his name has been shown to be spelled as Freeza.
- Frieza is the first character to survive a full-power Spirit Bomb, the 2nd being Jiren.
- Frieza's English dub voice actor, Chris Ayres, is the brother of Frost's English dub voice actor, Greg Ayres.
- Frieza is the final villain in the Dragon Ball manga to have a desire for the Dragon Balls.
- Frieza has a merchandise only joke form called "Pure Gold Frieza" which is based on Golden Frieza. It is stated by Frieza that this form is the result of him "overtraining" - causing him to gain an Ultimate Evolution-like state that is pure gold in appearance.
- An error in the Funimation dub had Frieza (in his first form) saying he was 530,000 times stronger than Nail, who had a power level of 42,000. This meant that Frieza's power level was 22,260,000,000. In the original Japanese dub, Frieza states he has a power level of 530,000 and he later states this in the Funimation dub of Dragon Ball Z Kai as well.
- Frieza's third form somewhat resembles a Xenomorph from the Alien film series, particularly in skull structure and his dorsal spines (in addition, Cooler's final form vaguely resembles a Predator).
- The fight between Goku and Frieza was the longest in the Dragon Ball Z anime, at 19 episodes. It is also considered to be the longest recorded fight in an anime, clocking in at roughly 3.5 hours of screentime. Similarly, the fight was the longest in the Dragon Ball manga, at 20 chapters.
- Frieza has his tail cut off four times. The first time is when he was in his second form, when Krillin chops it off with a Destructo Disc, though it seems to regenerate when he enters his final form. The second is when he is hit by Goku's Spirit Bomb, as part of it is unable to withstand the blast and thus comes off. The third is when he is cut in half by his own attack, the energy disks slice off his body in half, along with one arm and his tail. The fourth is from slamming Jiren into the arena with his Nova Strike.
- In addition, Frieza is chopped in half twice during his lifetime. The first is when he is chopped horizontally in two by his own energy disk. The second is when Future Trunks slices him vertically in half, seconds before chopping him to pieces and completely destroying him. In Dragon Ball GT, Frieza is chopped in half a third time while fighting Goku in Hell and using Krillin's Destructo Disc technique against him, which Goku turns back on him.
- In Dragon Ball SD, Roshi has a Freezer brand fridge.
- Frieza is the second villain to be defeated by Goku and return as a cyborg. The first is Mercenary Tao. Interestingly, both characters suffered grave injuries resulting in receiving cybernetics because of dirty attacks towards Goku (i.e. begging for mercy, and then attacking Goku when his guard was let down), and both were given cybernetics by a relative of theirs. They were also both defeated very quickly after reappearing by someone other than Goku. But unlike Tao, Frieza is no longer a cyborg.
- Frieza had inspired many other villains in the Shonen genre, notably Orochimaru from the Naruto series. During the first Naruto series animation run, Masashi Kishimoto remarked that he hoped Orochimaru would get a voice actor just like Frieza's.
- Frieza is the second character to make Goku shake in fear, the first being Raditz, and the third being Hit.
- Of all four of the main villains in Dragon Ball Z, Frieza has the largest on-screen body count: he murdered numerous Saiyans, Namekians, committed several atrocities with an innumerable casualty count, and has murdered many characters recognized as individuals on-camera.
- Frieza is the second villain to yell "Damn you Goku!" as his last words, with the first being Dr. Wheelo. Coincidentally, both villains also ended up obliterated by a significantly powerful ki attack shortly afterward (Wheelo by a Spirit Bomb, and Frieza by the God Kamehameha), and both even made a reference to Hell immediately beforehand (in Wheelo's case, as an expletive when demanding to know what Goku was about to do, and in Frieza's case, telling Vegeta and everyone else to go there without him in reference to his attempt at destroying Earth before Goku intervened).
- Of all the main Dragon Ball villains featured in media, Frieza is the most prominent "true" villain that appeared as a major character in more than one mainstream Dragon Ball media (anime or manga (that excluded related merchandising)), this includes appearances in the Dragon Ball Super anime, as the main antagonist of its second saga, then later appearing as a member of Team Universe 7, for the Universe Survival Saga.
- He can be considered the main antagonist of the Dragon Ball Franchise and Goku's arch-enemy due to being the most recurring villain of the series.
- His appearance in Dragon Ball GT might not count, along with Cell, as they made very short appearances in Hell as minor villains and were outsmarted by Goku.
- He is also the only major villain to appear in more than one film (TV/Theatrical), the most prominent and significant one being in Resurrection ‘F’.
- Majin Buu (any incarnations) also does not count, as the Good Buu may have appeared in other series than DBZ, like Dragon Ball Super, he is merely a purely good entity fissioned from and is completely separate from the true, pure evil version killed in his only anime appearance, Kid Buu.
- Additionally, Frieza is one of the most referenced villains in the series, as seen many times when the characters constantly use Frieza as a measuring stick for the power of other characters. Such instances are when describing Android 17 and 18 and Imperfect Cell, as well as during Goku's fight with Uub when the Saiyan states that he hadn't been so forced back in a battle since Frieza. Beerus also displayed visible shock when he heard of Frieza's defeat, indicating the profound impact he's had on the series.
- Frieza's wish of becoming taller is almost identical to Commander Red's; it is also probable that he developed a Napoleonic complex, feeling inferior and less respected to most people due to his height, which is why he killed any soldier who ever commented on it. Lemo even warned Cheelai to watch her tongue when she mentions hearing that Frieza was short.
- This characteristic wasn't evident in Dragon Ball Z; instead, Frieza took advantage of his height, as enemies tended to underestimate his power.
- In the Greek dub of Dragon Ball Z (except for episodes 78-87), Dragon Ball GT, the movies and Bardock - The Father of Goku, Frieza is a woman. In Dragon Ball Super, Frieza is a man.
- On a related note, this makes Frieza the third character to have his gender changed in the Greek dub, after General Blue and Zarbon.
- Frieza can be considered a foil to Goku (which is very fitting). Goku was born extremely weak and had to train to get stronger, is naturally peaceful and often shows enemies mercy, and even rejected his violent Saiyans ways of conquest. Frieza on the other hand was born extraordinarily powerful and never required much effort in training for extra strength, rarely shows mercy, and took over 70% of Universe 7.
- Frieza's Ghost Warrior is the only one of the Ghost Warriors in the OVA to not have originated in a movie.
- Frieza's speech while reveling in his destruction of Planet Vegeta differed between languages. In the original Japanese version, he specifically called Dodoria and Zarbon to come watch the "splendid fireworks" (referring to the constant explosions occurring on the surface of the soon-to-be-destroyed Planet Vegeta). In the original and Remastered Funimation dubs, Frieza instead compares the ongoing destruction to a live performance such as a play that was done spectacularly well. The former was eventually used for Dragon Ball Z Kai.
- Frieza's voice in his second and third forms are different from how he sounds in his base and final form. When he was voiced by Linda Young, his second form voice was quite different and was much lower and raspier. This was also the case for his third form, though in original Dragon Ball Z dubs, his third form voice was a combination of both first and second form. When voiced by Chris Ayres in Dragon Ball Z Kai, his second form voice is slightly lower than first form and sounds similar to first form. In Dragon Ball Z Kai, his third form is when the difference in his voice starts to become drastic and noticeable, rather than being noticeable in his second form like in Dragon Ball Z.
- Frieza is shown to have an excellent memory: he remembered Bardock's appearance after seeing him only once and several years before, and recognized it in Goku's look. The anime expands upon this by having him explicitly deduce Goku was Bardock's son.
