Fanon Fanon - Strongest Character Tier List - Weakest Character Tier List - Fanon/Strongest Smash Characters Tier List

Introduction

The following is a community-made list of what's believed to be the strongest characters from the Super Smash Bros. series. This list will incorporate their canon statistics. The community discussion is held on Discord.

Guidelines

  1. There will be no equalizations whatsoever, every character will have their stats listed on their profiles and will be ranked based on that.
  2. While assist trophies can be allowed, the list should begin first with the actual playable roster throughout the Smash series. This also means only characters within Smash, not characters apart of a series in Smash. To add on, Mii costumes will count towards playable roster, thus the Mii costume of Sans will be treated as actual Sans. Smash original characters can also be used on this list if wanted.
  3. The rankings are based on their statistics and how overall versatile they are, for example, having a high tier would place the characters relatively high, however, their speed and abilities will also be taken into account. Fighting strategies and Intelligence will also be duly noted as it's important to know what a character would start with as a character's versatility can only go as far as their creativity or intelligence does.
  4. Characters that fight mainly through means of Outside Help will be allowed to use it. Snake's codec calls as an example.
  5. Teams that are in Smash will be treated the same for the purposes of the list. For example, Nana has Popo helping her during fights in Smash, however, in actual Ice Climber on NES, the game does not have them together. However, because Smash treats them as fighting together, this is allowed.
  6. Characters are not required to kill or incapacitate other characters in order to get higher placements, such as being able to turn enemies into allies is perfectly acceptable as a reason for their strength.

The Tiers

The tiers will be split into the following on the Grade system, for this tier list they work as the following:

  • S Tier: Characters are pretty much unbeatable, either through having very difficult means to kill, being too powerful, too fast, or possessing far too much versatility and intelligence.
  • A Tier: Characters are very powerful, only having a few that can defeat them. They possess great power, speed, versatility, intelligence, or all the above.
  • B Tier: Characters are powerful, though do not have sufficient means to get any higher.
  • C Tier: Characters are overall average, not being too useful while also not being too worthless.
  • D Tier: Characters are below average, they lack many capabilities and are normally not fighters at all.
  • F Tier: Characters are far too weak and lose against pretty much all the opponents on the list, they can also sometimes never fight back or don't have a means to.
