Articles About Homura Akemi
Versions Homura Akemi - Tamura Akemi - Magia Record
My name is Homura Akemi. My mission is to save Madoka. And I will!
Don't give me that crap! I've been traveling through time flows for years now! I'm still in the middle of trying to save you! So even if it is my own little ego trip... ...You're suddenly telling me it's all over now!? And you think I'd just say "Okay fine," and just go home!? This is a place where all sorts of Homura's gather. But among us, there are only two things that unite us all. The first is that we all want to save you!! And the second is that we're all so stubborn, we'd rather die than give up!!
~ Tamura to Ultimate Madoka after learning about her wish

Background

Homura Akemi, called Tamura by accident by a lot of Madoka's, is the main character of Puella Magi Homura Tamura ~Parallel Worlds Do Not Remain Parallel Forever~, a sillier gag spin-off manga. The manga goes over her many adventures through different timeflows trying to stop Madoka from becoming a magical girl.

This dropdown contains the synopsis of Tamura Akemi’s story. Read at your own risk as you may be spoiled otherwise!

"Space Case Madoka" Time Flow
Everyone seems a little off... Madoka is extremely forgetful and keeps misnaming Homura. Mami spaces out, thinking she left the oven on and gets taken out by Charlotte. Sayaka quickly turns into Oktavia and Kyoko is a food obsessed gremlin.

"Soul Gem X 300" Time Flow
Everyone seems a little off... Madoka is extremely forgetful and keeps misnaming Homura. Mami spaces out, thinking she left the oven on and gets taken out by Charlotte. Sayaka quickly turns into Oktavia and Kyoko is a food obsessed gremlin.

"Kyoko and the Chocolate Factory" Time Flow
Everyone seems a little off... Madoka is extremely forgetful and keeps misnaming Homura. Mami spaces out, thinking she left the oven on and gets taken out by Charlotte. Sayaka quickly turns into Oktavia and Kyoko is a food obsessed gremlin.

"Whole Lotta Mami" Time Flow
Homura arrives in a world where everyone wears their hair in curled bunches like Mami. She finds Madoka is about to be killed for wearing her hair wrong and saves her. Although ambushed by Kyoko and Sayaka - Mami's lackeys - she easily arrives at Mami's residence. The magical girl turns out to be ruling the world with her strength and making ridiculous rules centred around her. Homura defeats her by drinking more tea than her (by stopping time and giving it to Kyubey). The timeline ends up well with Homura being ruler with Madoka but her shield malfunctions and accidentally sends her back in time.

"Whole lotta Homura" Time Flow
Before arriving at her next timeline, Homura finds herself in a space between dimensions where every timelines Homura stays.

"Technical Support" Time Flow
Homura calls tech support to try and order a new shield. She receives items like an ultra powerful frying pan before receiving a new one that can talk.

"TV" Time Flow
A timeline where the story is being filmed with the five magical girls as actors.

"Homura and Her Dog" Time Flow
Homura adopts a stray dog in this timeline and grows fond of it. She notices how its tail resembles Madoka's bunches. At the end she bids a sad goodbye to the dog but they end up going back in time with her anyway, much to the distress of the hospital staff.

"METAL☆MADOKA" TIME FLOW
Homura accidentally finds out about the secret society of the 'Nurses Office' where Madoka and Kyoko have turned Sayaka into a super fighting robot after she died. The robot - which resembles Oktavia - saves the city from a giant Gertrud but is quickly taken aback by a Charlotte robot piloted by the thought-to-be-dead Mami. It turns out she was too turned into a robot by Hitomi who is a powerful health rep just like Madoka

"THE MINK AND ANIMAL FRIENDS" TIME FLOW
Homura finds herself in a story-book like timeline where she is barely involved. Sayaka and Kyoko turn into minks and start up a shop together. It turns out the story was narrated by Mami and written by Madoka

"MAGICA☆RIDER" TIME FLOW
A world where Magical Girls ride bikes and have to break certain speeds to defeat witches. Homura accidentally goes back in time because it scares her so much.

"OKONOMIYAKI" TIME FLOW
A strange timeline where Madoka brings Homura to a secret area where Kyoko and Sayaka are serving food in animal costumes. Homura eventually joins them in her own bear costume.

"MAMI AND HOMU" TIME FLOW
While travelling to a new timeline, Homura finds Mami in the space between dimensions. Mami begs her to stay as she's so bored and Homura realises she's a Mami she accidentally once bought back in time. Mami tells Homura how she has hundreds of duo jokes she wants to try out and the two become a comedy duo. Before Homura leaves she takes Mami with her, letting her set up a comedy house in the space between dimensions with the Homuras.

"AKEMI MECHANICA" TIME FLOW
A timeline with a small Homura called Akemi Mechanica. She has a dog and an AI based on Mami.

"SPRING CLEANING" TIME FLOW
Homura's new talking shield eats her and she arrives inside her own shield which is greatly messy. She cleans parts of it up leaving the things that relate to Madoka. Homura's past comes to haunt her as she finds Anthony that she'd stuffed into her shield once that have grown extremely strong by eating a Kyubey endlessly. She tries to defeat them with a Charlotte from her shield but they simply eat her. Homura escapes the shield unscathed but leaves the Kyubey there.

"RUINS OF A REALLY ANCHIENT CULTURE" TIME FLOW
The magical girls traverse the world to find a glyph left by the great Magical Girl Merlin. They leave on an ancient space ship and Homura manages to back out of it by saving she'll protect the earth.

"PRISON KYUBEY" TIME FLOW
A world where the girls are in a prison led by Kyubey. All girls but Mami escape and Homura returns to save her but find she's been tempted by delicious food from the Kyubeys.

"SPACE MITAKIHARA" TIME FLOW
Homura arrives at the Space Mitakihara space station with the other magical girls. Their mission is to defeat Walpurgisnacht on earth with a Madoka robot but they fail terribly.

"TAMURA AND PRACTICAL-JOKE-HOMURA" TIME FLOW
Homura enters a new time flow with Practical-joke-Homura and the two continue to pull pranks on Mami but she grows so used to it she doesn't even react anymore.

"THE NATION OF MITAKIHARA" TIME FLOW
A world where Mitakihara spreads across the world. Homura tries to catch up with the events the other girls are partaking in but can never catch up. It turns out everyone else can teleport.

"BOMBER MADOKA" TIME FLOW
Homura returns to a timeline where she taught Madoka how to make bombs but it turns out she can't go anywhere without one exploding.

"RAMPAGING SAYAKA VS. HOMURAS" TIME FLOW
A rampaging Sayaka manages to enter the Homura space between dimensions. A mature Homura manages to soothe her with mink Kyoko and she instantly calms down. The Sayaka then sets up a shop in the space.

"AKEMI-YA AND MADOKA" TIME FLOW
A Madoka turns up at the space between dimensions and the Homura's treat her as well as they can. Protagonist Homura is suspicious and it turns out the Madoka is actually Ultimate Madoka. She explains to the Homuras that she's defeated all witches so they don't need to save her anymore. Protagonist Homura complains saying that she hasn't saved her Madoka yet and Ultimate Madoka lets her try a little longer before the Homuras return to their own timelines.

General Information

Name: Homura Akemi, Tamura Akemi

Origin: Puella Magi Homura Tamura ~Parallel Worlds Do Not Remain Parallel Forever~

Sex: Female

Age: 14 physically, 26 mentally (Directly forced to admit she was 26 years old, Homura has reset time so much to the point that she's technically mentally far above the age of 14)

Classification: Alternate Timeline Homura Akemi

Species: Human

Occupation: Magical Girl

Status: Alive

Alignment: Neutral Good (Though Homura seems to mainly only care about Madoka, she has shown to actually care about other people, only closing off her emotions as having them open makes it too hard for her to even fight witches, brought a Mami Tomoe that was stuck in a timeflow by herself for so long to the Akemi-Ya bar in order to have an audience she can do her comedy act too, and has tried to save the holy quintet on many occasions, though her main focus is still Madoka)

They are also able to survive having their souls be apart from their bodies[55][56]), Physics Manipulation (Magical Girls are not bound by the laws of thermodynamics[57]), Body Puppetry, and Fusionism (Magical Girls can connect with a person’s mind, which makes them snap out of the trance and possession that they were under[58]), Corruption & Empathic Manipulation (Magical Girls resist the wraiths ability to fill the world with corruption and consume emotions[59])

Equipment

  • Soul Gem: As a magical girl, Tamura's soul is contained within her soul gem, which she also uses to transform. Because of this, her body can eventually heal from nearly any injury no matter how fatal, so long as her soul gem remains intact. However, if her soul gem is destroyed, she dies instantly. Tamura keeps her soul gem in her coat's pocket before and after transformation. If Tamura is more than 100 meters from her soul gem, she loses her connection to her body, turning it into a dead corpse until her soul gem comes back into contact with her body.
  • Shield: Like all Homuras, Tamura wields a shield. This shield allows her to stop time and reverse time to a certain point. It also acts as a hammerspace, allowing her to store items and forcibly store away enemies. After her old shield broke, she got a new one that is able to talk. She can access different power levels with her shield by upgrading her contract and can teleport using it.
  • Golf Club: A blunt weapon she uses for attacks.
  • Magical Arrow: Pierce attack one line in front with a magical arrow.
  • Time Bomb: Throw a bomb one line in front.
  • High Caliber Pistol: Fire a bullet one line in front.
  • Team Fire Support: Fire bullets at random one line in front.
  • Anti-Tank Artillery: Attack with infinite rocket launchers.
  • Anti-Ship Missile: Fire an anti-ship missile, dealing huge damage.

Optional Equipment

  • Spell Books: Spell Books are earned whenever you complete a mission. Since you can always attempt missions, there is no limit to the number of spell books you can earn, and buying/upgrading all Special Magics and Support Skills for all characters is possible.

Notable Techniques

*Time Manipulation: Her time manipulation comes from her shields ability and is the special ability she gained from becoming a magical girl, with it Homura can stop time for all people not in contact with her, and as long as her shield isn't attacked.

  • Weapons Expert: As her time magic alone wouldn't be enough to deal with threats, Homura had to learn how to make explosives and use guns in combat, allowing her to use it in conjunction with her time abilities to defeat enemies.

Other

Standard Tactics: This Homura uses her time manipulation more often along with having much greater strength into attacks such as her massive energy beam.

Weaknesses: Magical Girls lose control of their avatars if their soul gems are dozens of meters away from their bodies[79]. If a Magical Girl blocks out the pain, their reaction time gets slowed by a bit[80]. If there soul gem is at all destroyed, they will die[81]. The more a magical girl uses magic, the more their soul gem becomes packed with impurities, making them unable to exert the full magic power[82]. If the Magical Girls abuse their Doppels too much, they will fuse to them and become corrupted[83]. Attacking her shield will make her unable to stop time. When the sand in the hourglass completely falls, Homura cannot use magic anymore and she can only stop time for a short period. In the "Soul Gem X 300" Time Flow, Homura is forced to have 300 soul gems around her at all times. Homura is obssessed with Madoka Kaname to a fault, focusing solely on her to the point that from her vision only Madoka matters. Suffers from "Janet's Law" where time passes much quicker then she notices, making her believe a month was actually a week.

Trivia

  • Homura Tamura volume 2 is the shortest manga volume of the franchise, at 112 pages, whereas most other volumes are usually around 144 or 160 pages long
  • Homura Tamura has the most chapters of any other manga in the franchise, as well as the most per single volume
  • The original title was going to be 'Homura Homura Tamura', the same as the scientific classification 'Gorilla gorilla gorilla'
  • 'Tamura' means 'gathering'. 'Puella Magi Homura Tamura' in full could thus be read as 'Gathering of Magical Girl Homura', 'Homura's Gathering of Magical Girls', 'Magical Girl Homura's Gathering(s)', or so on.
  • It's noted in the bar at Akemi-ya that a consistent thing with Homura's across all timelines is that they all love Madoka Kaname, showing all Homura's have the same love.
