Chi-Chi
Chi-Chi is the daughter of the Ox-King and serves as the princess of Fire Mountain. She later marries Son Goku, and together they raise two sons, Son Gohan and Son Goten. When she first appears, she comes across as gentle, reserved, and somewhat timid. As she gets older, however, her personality undergoes a noticeable shift; she becomes outspoken, stubborn, and quick to anger, often shouting at Goku and others throughout the series. Even so, she never hides her deep devotion to her family, frequently showing warmth and care for both her husband and her children.

Emperor Pilaf Saga Soon after, Chi-Chi crosses paths with Goku, who is riding his Flying Nimbus. He explains that her father sent him to find her and take her to Master Roshi. While climbing onto the Nimbus, she accidentally grabs Goku's tail, which reveals his weakness to Yamcha, who had been hiding nearby. During their ride, Goku touches her with his foot to figure out whether she is a boy or a girl; in the edited version, he simply tells her to wear more clothes. Although Chi-Chi initially gets upset and pushes him off the Nimbus, the moment makes her believe that Goku might have feelings for her. This is when she first falls in love with him, though Goku is still too naive to understand what that means. He does not fully grasp her feelings until they meet again during the Piccolo Jr. Saga. At that point, he seems uncomfortable at first but eventually grows used to the idea and shows genuine care for her. When the two finally reach Master Roshi's home, Roshi explains that he had accidentally thrown away the Bansho Fan and would have to extinguish the fire himself. In the anime, Chi-Chi recounts her first date with Goku to Gohan, who has just been pressured into going on a date with a girl named Angela. She tells him about the time she and Goku were teenagers, though they still appeared much younger. She claims she convinced Goku to go on the date without resorting to blackmail. She told him to think of something he enjoyed most and then try to persuade her into doing it. Since Goku found fighting the most enjoyable activity, he naturally suggested that. Chi-Chi was hesitant at first, but she eventually got into it and turned out to be a fairly even match for him. Looking back, she describes it as a great first date. It is unclear exactly when this took place, but it likely happened at some point before Goku began training under Master Roshi, as he is not wearing the Turtle School uniform in the flashback. Instead, he is dressed in the same blue outfit he wore when they first met. Red Ribbon Army Saga Colonel Silver and his troops had attacked the village, so Goku and Chi-Chi took to the Nimbus to help. Chi-Chi ended up taking out several soldiers, all while crying, using the laser from her helmet. The Red Ribbon Army forced Goku to leave and continue his journey. Just before he departed, Chi-Chi asked, "What about the wedding?" Goku replied, "I'll be back. I'll try some of that next time." Still naive about such matters, he misunderstood the word "wedding" and thought it might be some kind of food. Later, while training at Korin Tower to prepare for his fight against Mercenary Tao, Goku looked into a jar that showed a vision of the meadow where he and Chi-Chi had spoken earlier. King Piccolo Saga In the anime, Chi-Chi and her father are shown at his castle celebrating Goku's victory over King Piccolo. Three years later, Chi-Chi enters the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament under the alias "Anonymous." Her competitor number during the preliminary rounds is 59. 23rd Budokai Saga Goku was stunned to realize that the girl he had met years ago had grown up just as he had. He was even more surprised when she brought up the promise he had made. He admitted that he did remember it, but also confessed that he had only said it because he had no idea what a bride actually was. Chi-Chi looked crushed by his words, but Goku still decided to follow through and proposed to her in front of the crowd. She told him she loved him, but he did not fully understand what that meant due to his naivety. She then kissed him on the cheek, which prompted a humorous reaction from Krillin and applause from the audience. She also apologized to Yamcha for not marrying him, still believing he had genuine feelings for her. This left Bulma frustrated, since Yamcha had never told her about the lie he made up to calm Chi-Chi down when they were both children. Goku remained unaware of the meaning behind her emotional gestures for the rest of the tournament. Later, in the anime, the two went on several adventures to recover the Bansho Fan in order to put out the fire at Chi-Chi's mountain home; though it had already been destroyed in both the manga and the anime. The goal was to save her father, who was protecting her mother's wedding dress for Chi-Chi to wear. By the end of Dragon Ball, she and Goku were happily married, with Chi-Chi wearing her mother's dress. At the age of twenty, Chi-Chi gave birth to her first son. While trying to decide on a name, she suggested Einstein, but nobody liked it. The Ox-King then listed off several names, all of which included the word "Ox," and the baby seemed to dislike those as well. Chi-Chi grew frustrated with Goku for wanting to go fishing instead of helping come up with a name. While she was scolding him, she happened to mention Gohan, the name of Goku's adoptive grandfather. The baby laughed every time he heard it, and the Ox-King pointed this out to the couple. Goku and Chi-Chi both agreed on the name. Saiyan Saga A year passed, and she returned to Kame House, where she fainted after hearing from Master Roshi that Gohan was on the battlefield facing the Saiyans. She regained consciousness but passed out again when she saw Nappa kill the news crew filming the battle. In the anime, she grabbed Launch's guns and tried to go rescue Gohan, but the others stopped her. She watched the battle through Fortuneteller Baba's crystal ball until it shattered. She then insisted on going to the battlefield herself and later grabbed Korin by the neck, demanding information about her family. Frieza Saga Chi-Chi stayed by Goku's side while he recovered in Wukong Hospital. Gohan, who had already healed, traveled with Krillin and Bulma to Namek to use the Namekian Dragon Balls to revive the fallen Z Fighters. In the anime, after Goku recovered and left for Namek, Chi-Chi gathered Master Roshi, Oolong, Puar, and Yajirobe to try using another spaceship to fly to Namek and rescue Gohan. The ship did not work, so they were forced to stay on Earth. In the manga, Chi-Chi is shown eating with her father at her home. She wonders whether Gohan is studying properly and when both he and Goku will return. The Ox-King reassures her that they are probably already on their way, showing that both are unaware of the battle taking place on Namek. When everyone except Goku and Frieza was transported back to Earth, Chi-Chi was reunited with Gohan. She witnessed Porunga revive the fallen Z Fighters and announce that Goku was still alive. Master Roshi frustratedly suggested that Goku might be avoiding coming back because he was afraid of Chi-Chi, implying that her temper was stronger than a Super Saiyan. In the anime, Chi-Chi arrived at Kame House after catching Gohan sneaking out during his study time. When Garlic Jr. released the Black Water Mist, she was infected and fought Gohan on the roof of Kame House. She was cured along with the rest of Earth by Kami and Mr. Popo using the Sacred Water. After Gohan sealed Garlic Jr. back into the Dead Zone, Chi-Chi tightened security at home to prevent Gohan from sneaking out again. Cell Saga Chi-Chi took care of Goku while he was sick with the heart virus. She and Yamcha transported him to Kame House to hide him from Androids 16, 17, and 18, who were searching for him. When she saw Goku fully standing again, she was overjoyed and ran to hug him. He swung her around in response. Goku asked if Gohan could train with him, and Chi-Chi agreed on the condition that Gohan would study afterward. She later admitted that she said yes because she could not refuse Goku anything due to her love for him. Chi-Chi became a widow once more when Goku died during the Cell Games while protecting Earth. She broke down in tears. She also became frightened and cried while watching Gohan and Cell's Kamehameha clash on TV, fearing for her son's life. In the months following Gohan's victory, Chi-Chi cried herself to sleep for many nights over Goku's death. Majin Buu Saga When Gohan told her that Goku would return to Earth for one day to take part in the 25th World Martial Arts Tournament, she was overjoyed. She and Goku both told each other how much they had missed one another. At the tournament, she cheered for her family and spent most of the time arguing with Bulma over whose husband and sons were better. When a fighter named Idasam lost to Trunks and started attacking Bulma, Chi-Chi knocked her out. After the tournament, Chi-Chi joined the others in searching for the Dragon Balls. She later took refuge on Kami's Lookout. Goku informed her that both Vegeta and Gohan had been killed. She took the news hard and broke down crying. When Goku told her he had to return to the Other World, she hugged him and asked how he could say goodbye when Gohan had also been taken from her. Goku reassured her that she still had Goten, who would master Fusion with Trunks and would not be taken from her. Later, Super Buu attacked the Lookout and used the Human Extinction Attack to kill everyone on Earth except those on the Lookout. Chi-Chi confronted Buu, scolded him, and slapped him for killing so many people, including Gohan. Buu turned her into an egg and killed her. Goten was horrified by what he witnessed. She was later revived through the Dragon Balls and contributed her energy to Goku's Spirit Bomb to destroy Kid Buu. When Goku was brought back to life, Chi-Chi was happily reunited with her husband and sons. Goku told her he wanted to live with her and their children, and she hugged him tightly, crying in his arms. He told her he loved her. The family spent the rest of the series in much happier and more peaceful times. Daima Saga God of Destruction Beerus Saga At Bulma's birthday party, Chi-Chi learned that Master Roshi and Oolong were looking at women on the beach and put a stop to it, saying it set a bad example for the children. Like Bulma, she was frustrated that Goku had not shown up. She spent time talking with Bulma and Android 18 during the party, and she clapped and cheered along with everyone else after Beerus and Whis arrived. Golden Frieza Saga When Krillin was hurt after Goku accidentally injured him, Chi-Chi went over to help treat his wounds alongside Android 18. She later visited Gohan's house and was horrified at how roughly they were handling Pan. Gohan assured her that Pan would be fine since she was part Saiyan, but Chi-Chi insisted that Pan be raised as a gentle girl so she would not end up like another "battle-loving idiot." Mr. Satan argued that he wanted Pan to become a great martial artist and his successor, but Chi-Chi refused to budge. She even kicked Gohan and Mr. Satan out of the house to remove any violent influences. She later calmed down after Videl assured her that Pan could become whatever she wanted. When Goku wanted to go train with Vegeta, Chi-Chi opposed it, believing he should focus on being a good grandfather. When Bulma gave Goku a cell phone to stay in touch about Whis's arrival, Chi-Chi noticed, so Goku said he and Bulma were planning a surprise party for Pan and needed to coordinate. Chi-Chi was delighted that Goku was finally acting like a good grandfather. However, Gohan later told her the truth, and she angrily confronted Goku with him and Goten. Goku said he would only be gone a short time, but Chi-Chi did not believe him. Gohan argued that Goku needed to train to protect Earth, but Chi-Chi insisted he needed to be there for Pan. As Whis prepared to leave, Goku ran after him and grabbed onto him just as he took off. Surprisingly, once Goku was gone, Chi-Chi seemed to accept the situation and wondered about the surprise party for Pan. While Goku and the others fought Frieza, Chi-Chi was at home reading a magazine and eating, unaware that the planet was about to explode. She was killed in the blast, but Whis used his Temporal Do-Over technique to undo it so Goku could defeat Frieza again. She later attended the feast Bulma hosted, surrounded by her family and friends. Universe 6 Saga Copy Vegeta Saga One evening, Chi-Chi was having dinner with Goku and Goten at home. She noticed Goku was not feeling well and asked if he had a fever or was dying. That night, when Goku still felt unwell, she suggested he ask King Kai for help. Goku agreed and teleported away. Chi-Chi stayed up worrying and planned to make him plenty of food to cheer him up. Goku then crashed back into the house, destroying it and making Chi-Chi furious. The next day, Chi-Chi went with Goku and Goten to Gohan and Videl's house, where Piccolo was watching Pan. She was proud when she learned Gohan had been offered a job as a professor's assistant, saying he would be the first hardworking Saiyan in Universe 7. She scolded Goku for wrecking their home and said that without the money from Mr. Satan, they could not afford repairs. She also mentioned that she had saved the money for Goten's future education, though she lied to Goku about spending it all to push him to work. Before Piccolo left, he gave Chi-Chi detailed instructions on caring for Pan, including her favorite activities and foods. The next morning, Pan went missing, and Piccolo scolded Goku and Chi-Chi for not watching her. They searched for her with Goten's help, and by the time Gohan and Videl returned, Pan had already been found. Chi-Chi guessed she had crawled under the bed or into a closet overnight. When Goten snuck away with Trunks on Monaka's delivery truck and ended up on Planet Potaufeu, Bulma called Chi-Chi to inform her. She was frustrated that Goku was training on King Kai's planet at such a time. When the group returned to Earth, Chi-Chi hugged Goten worriedly and asked if he was hurt. Goten apologized. "Future" Trunks Saga Later, Chi-Chi and Goten informed Piccolo and Krillin that Future Trunks's Time Machine had arrived at Capsule Corporation and that Goku and Vegeta were trying to figure out what was happening. Assuming something serious had happened in the future, Piccolo and Krillin flew off to investigate. Goten wanted to follow, but Chi-Chi stopped him and told him to study instead. Worried that Goku had not come home, Chi-Chi went with Gohan to the police station to ask Krillin where he was. She had tried calling Bulma but got no answer. Krillin said he did not know, even though he likely suspected Goku was still fighting Black in the future. Chi-Chi mentioned that she had made a lot of food for Goku, which Gohan was carrying in a large pack. Krillin excused himself to go on patrol. Gohan tried to calm her down as they spotted Goten and Trunks flying overhead. Gohan flew Chi-Chi to Capsule Corporation. Once there, she called out to Bulma and demanded to know where Goku was. Bulma acted clueless, so Chi-Chi asked about Goten and Trunks instead, since she had seen them flying earlier. Shu updated Bulma on the time machine, and Bulma told Chi-Chi it was a new product of hers. Goten and Trunks tried to sneak away but were caught by Vegeta, and Chi-Chi started scolding Goten again. When Piccolo and Krillin arrived, Chi-Chi saw Goku emerge with injuries from his battle in the future. She pressed Bulma for answers, and Bulma explained the threats in Future Trunks's timeline, including the history of Goku Black. After Black and Zamasu were defeated, Chi-Chi joined the group in saying goodbye to Future Trunks and Future Mai as they departed for the new future timeline. Tournmanet of Power Later, Chi-Chi called Bulma and asked her not to let Goten leave with Goku, insisting that he stay with her instead. Bulma relayed the message when she met up with them, so Goten stayed behind to hang out with Trunks. When Chi-Chi learned of Bulma's pregnancy, she went to Capsule Corporation to prepare a feast for the arrival of Bulla. While she was cooking, Goku, Gohan, Mr. Satan, Majin Buu, Beerus, Whis, Shin, and Old Kai returned after watching the Zeno Expo matches and learning the rules of the Tournament of Power. Chi-Chi offered to serve them right away so the food would not get cold, since Bulla had not arrived yet and the birth might take a while. When Chi-Chi noticed Gohan wearing his Turtle Hermit gi, she asked why and grew suspicious that he might be returning to fighting, which she generally disapproved of. Gohan said Videl thought he should spend time with Goku, but Chi-Chi remained uneasy. She later checked on Bulma and advised her to rest as her pregnancy progressed. Whis arrived unexpectedly and used his powers to deliver Bulla early, surprising and impressing everyone present. Chi-Chi was there when everyone congratulated Vegeta and Bulma, and she remarked how cute Bulla was, reminding her of Goten as a baby. After Universe 7's team was assembled for the Tournament of Power and the tournament concluded with their victory, Chi-Chi appeared near the end of the saga. In the credits, it was implied that she was initially alarmed and angry when she saw Goku return home injured, but after he explained the tournament's stakes and what would have happened if they had lost, she seemed to understand. She later attended a large celebration at Capsule Corporation held for Bulla's birth. Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga Granolah the Survivor Saga Peaceful World Saga |

- Emphasizes Gohan's Academic Achievement: Chi-Chi emphasizes Gohan's academic achievement over his fighting ability. She did not want Gohan to grow up without proper education like Goku. She becomes frustrated when Goku takes Gohan to fights and is willing to battle herself to defend her son. She is proud of Gohan when he fights but refuses to admit it, except when he participated in tournaments.
- Accepting of Gohan Fighting: By the Androids Saga, Chi-Chi grew more accepting of Gohan fighting, allowing him to train and attend the Cell Games. She taught Goten martial arts out of a desire to prevent him from being incapable of defending himself. She allowed Gohan and Goten to participate in the 25th World Martial Arts Tournament partly because winning would pay for Gohan's college tuition.
- Negative Opinion of Super Saiyans: Chi-Chi has a negative opinion of Super Saiyans, associating the transformation with delinquency due to its hair color. She mistakenly assumed Gohan and Goku had dyed their hair when she first saw Gohan in Super Saiyan Full Power. She reacted negatively when Goten transformed while sparring.
- Frustrated by Goku's Lack of Financial Contribution: Chi-Chi is frustrated by Goku's tendency to focus on martial arts training instead of contributing financially. She relied on her father's wealth for most of her marriage. She forced Goku to work on their radish farm to earn money. She allowed Goku to train when their family was financially well off.
Goals
Relationships
Son Goku
Chi-Chi met Goku when she was young and naive, believing Goku patting her meant that she was meant to marry him.
According to a story she told Gohan, she and Goku had a date shortly after the Pilaf Saga where Goku didn't understand how dates worked and instead fought with her as he thought that was the most pleasurable thing.
She met him again during 23rd Budokai where she learned he forgot all about her due to her not looking the same. She called him out for not fufilling his promise to marry her but he noted he thought marriage meant food. Though Goku does end up accepting marrying her.
They now live together and work as farmers, though Goku is usually off training.
Son Gohan
Gohan is Chi-Chi and Goku's first son and she tried to ban any type of trainign with him, wanting him to grow up to be a scholar.
Due to the various world ending threats however, Chi-Chi eventually had to give in and accept Gohan needing to train to stop the crisis.

Powers and Techniques
- Chi Manipulation & Ki Manipulation (All beings in Dragon Ball[46][47][48] have ki, the very life force energy of all characters[49], ki allows a fighter to extend beyond their bodies limits, allowing them to even[50] block attacks that would otherwise[51] kill them from[52] raising their guard[53], higher level users can lower their own durability to allow people far below them to fatally wound them[54])
- Aura
- Projection: A users ki aura can exert itself[55] as a weapon to attack[56].
- Explosive: Ki users through powering up can form an entire aura around themself, radiating their immense power[57], where depending on their immense strength, can cause them to explode their aura outwards to remove excess ki from themself[58].
- Mood Reflection: Goku and Piccolo Jr. with their auras and their stern concentration on each other reflected in their electric auras, even shooting electricity at each other[59].
- Emotional Empowerment (It's noted that ki users can receive energy through one cheering them on[60]. Ki users can be greatly increased by their emotions and beliefs, Son Goku explains that Son Gohan needs to remember the time he fought Cell and bring out all of the power he has, this way he can lose to no one[61] where it's shown during the Cell beam clash that he was holding back greatly out of fear of destroying the earth but from being cheered on and using all of his power within him, he was able to overpower Cell[62])
- Attack Reflection (All Ki users are able to reflect attacks just by being stronger than their opponent[63]. Examples include, Nappa deflecting a masenko from Son Gohan[64], Son Gohan being able to bounce back the spirit bomb[65], Son Goku deflecting a crusher ball from Jeice[66], Frieza deflecting a Final Burst Cannon from Vegeta[67], Son Goku reflecting multiple death beams back to back from Frieza[68], and Future Trunks being able to completely repel an energy blast with his hand from a Frieza Soldier just by being much stronger than them[69])
- Homing Attack (Ki users can create attacks that will home in and chase a target forever[70])
- Penetration Damage
- Weapon Creation (Ki users can create energy weapons out of their attacks[74])
- Power Absorption & Energy Transferal (Ki users can transfer their ki to others and absorb the ki given to them from others[75])
- Attack Nullification
- Power Nullification
- Ki Energy Based: Through having greater ki, one can nullify the powers done through ki attacks, such as Frieza being able to nullify a hakai ball[79], which fully destroys a target[80], though he is unable to resist a hakai ball from Toppo due to him being stronger[81], this ability however only works on ki, attacks unrelated, characters cannot resist through being stronger, such as how Vegeta, Krillin, & Son Gohan are unable to resist Guldo's psychic powers[82], along with even the likes of Son Goku[83].
- Forcefield Creation (Ki users such as Cell can generate forcefields around themselves[84]. These forcefields can be expanded[85], and used to protect others and defend against attacks far higher then the user[86]. Forcefields effectivel allow the ki user to be able to block substances from other ki techniques, such as poisons[87]. Ki users can also project forcefields around themselves to protect themselves from ki absorptions that require grabbing them and bringing them into one's body[88])
- Super Armor (Through releasing one's ki, they enter a state known as "Hyper Mode"[89], in this state they do not flinch from weak melee attacks[90])
- Self-Destruction (Ki users in Dragon Ball are able to[91] release all of the energy within them[92] to cause a massive[93] self-destruction of energy that normally kills the user and turns them into dust[94] though one can control it to surviving but having no stamina or energy left[95])
- Dormant Power Reservoir (Ki users have a dormant power reservoir within them, as shown in arcs like the Buu Saga where Babidi saps this energy in order to use the energy to revive Buu and break his seal[96])
- Internal Destruction (Powerful ki users can overload enemies with their ki, causing them to swell up and explode from the sheer density of ki within them[97])
- Binding
- Dreaming Existence (Characters in Shin Budokai have shown to create physical bodies in alternate timelines through dreaming[100])
- Non-Standard Interaction
- Intangible Interaction: Those with ki can block intangible attacks when they focus and notices them[101].
- Space-Time Interaction (3+1-D): Characters can blast space-time distortions to close them[102].
- Healing
- Healing Singular Targets
- Advanced Healing: Ki can be used to heal beings, allowing them to survive even with half their torso[103], it can also heal from near death[104].
- Healing Singular Targets
- Resurrection
- Resurrection of the Deceased (Limited): Ki users can resurrect ones heart from death if their ki beams hit their heart, restarting it[105].
- Resurrection from Exhaustion: Can heal downed allies to give them ki back, reviving them[106])
- Intimidation & Spirit Manipulation (Ki is the manifestation of one’s lifeforce[107], along with the aura giving one the feeling of being crushed[108], exerting fear[109] into the target, sometimes making them incapable of moving as their[110] body is instinctively stuck due to the sheer difference in power[111])
- Link Manipulation & Mind Manipulation (Characters can link their ki together and train within each other’s mind enacting in image training[112])
- Vibration Manipulation
- Electricity Manipulation
- Weather Manipulation (Powerful Ki users can generate entire storms through merely powering up alone, Nappa used this in order to conjure the electricity from the storm[117]. Goku showcases this when he first turns super saiyan, causing a massive lightning storm in the background[118])
- Energy Manipulation (Ki is the latent power in one's body, this latent power allows them to form and create energy from controlling their ki[119])
- Explosion Manipulation (Ki attacks can create massive explosions[122], or control the ki to set off a huge explosion under the enemy[123], or in front of them[124])
- Portal Manipulation
- Non-combat applicable: Characters in GT can link their minds together to open a portal between the living realm and the other world[125].
- Heat Manipulation
- Fire Manipulation (Ki users can manifest fireballs to throw at enemies[129])
- Light Manipulation (Ki can be used as a flash of light[130][131][132][133][134][135][136][137][138], Degisu seeing ki attacks be fired notes that the characters are "firing light from their hands"[139]).
- Aura
- Limited Resistance to
- Durability Negation (Ki users can focus their energy to localize an object to a specific spot to stop them from attempting to destroy their organs/insides[140])
- Soul Manipulation (Characters with a strong enough will can keep moving after getting their soul reaped, though this requires something akin to a familial or friendship empowerment)
All previous powers and abilities except for her helmet.
- Martial Arts
- Striking Arts: Master Roshi seeing her fight claimed she was quite adept and her style was similar to the turtle hermit style[144], a style training one to break the wall of humanity[145] mastering the art in both body and mind[146]. This style requires one to train in knowledge[147], work on one's stamina[148] work on their muscles and speed[149] dodge attacks even while tied to a rope in a short range[150] all the while wearing 20-kilo shells[151]. The Turtle Hermit Style are incorporated within this[152], allowing for students that trained under this style to be capable[153] of fighting against other martial artists[154] without needing to be taught any real fighting[155] along with taking no damage from attacks due to the style training their durability[156].
- Weapon Mastery
- Pole Mastery: Can utilize the power pole in combat[157].
- Unique Mastery: Chi-Chi can use the banshou fan in combat[158].

- Energy Manipulation (Chi-Chi can employ a spinning energy attack in front of her opponent[167])
- Explosion Manipulation (Can throw explosives in her attacks[168])
- Size Manipulation (Can utilize the power pole in combat[169], which the user can give it the command to extend, it is able to extend far enough to take his enemies to the moon)

Notable Techniques
Stay Away From Me!
Chi-Chi grabs the blade on top of her helmet as she charges a purplish-pink dome of energy around her body. She shouts "Daddy, this is scary!" and throws the blade, imbued with purple aura, at the opponent. The attack creates a medium-sized explosion upon impact, inflicting great damage.
That Won't Work
Chi-Chi places her index and middle fingers of both hands on the forehead circle of her helmet, charging green energy. She shouts "I'll burn you to a crisp!" and fires the green energy from her helmet in the form of a laser beam. The beam scans from left to right at the opponent, inflicting great damage.
Turtle School Dance
Chi-Chi leaps into the air and somersaults down toward her opponent, launching a furious barrage of attacks to send them flying.
Red Blazing Aura
Chi-Chi produces a red aura, similar to the Kaio-ken, that decreases damage taken. This technique depicts Chi-Chi's anger and is largely used for comic relief.
Kiai
A technique that affects air currents with ki to produce powerful shockwaves. Chi-Chi uses this against Maron after being called an old lady, producing a Red Blazing Aura when doing so.

Other
Standard Tactics
- Emperor Pilaf Saga: Chi-Chi uses her razor blade along with her laser for attacks.
- 23rd Budokai Saga: Chi-Chi employs a fighting style similar to the Turtle Hermit Style.
- Dragon Ball Z: Chi-Chi normally only fights when angered using much of the similar fighting styles.
Weaknesses
- Standard Ki Weaknesses: Ki users that do not have sufficient training over their emotions put their power within a mental lock, thus affects to their emotions can seriously limit their powers[173], their emotions can also have them instinctively block using the full power of their attacks out of fear of the destruction along with lack of confidence in themselves[174]. If a Ki user is inflicted with any kind of status, disease, or poison, powering up or transforming will put further strain on the body[175] and can speed up the process of poison[176]. Users of Ki Sensing cannot sense beings that invisible, even if the character is in front of them attacking them, they have a hard time countering them due to being invisible[177]. Users of Ki Sensing also have a harder time sensing the true being using illusions, requiring them to focus in on energy fields to see who is moving and who is casting the illusion[178]. Due to the nature of ki draining stamina and energy, Dragon Ball characters ki usage requires them to usually use their higher levels of energy in short bursts, using a large amount of ki overtime can greatly weaken them to the point that characters far lower then them can actually harm them with attacks[179]. Taking large amounts of damage can greatly deplete a ki users attacks, making it where attacks that would otherwise kill massively weakened characters, only pushes them back[180]. Ki users cannot put all of their ki and strength into an attack if parts of their body are broken/injured[181][182], they also lose half of their chi if something like one of their arms are badly injured or broken[183].Ki users that are able to ki sense cannot do it when their guard is dropped, such as when Vegeta was able to sneak attack Son Goku during the end of their fight in the Buu Saga[184]. Despite some ki users being able to reach blasts that can destroy planets through charged attacks or techniques[185][186][187][188], they have not shown to be able to tank such blasts themselves[189][190][191], with attacks that have[192] destroyed several[193] planets in the series[194] always killing the character. Even characters such as Majin Buu's body cannot withstand the energy of a planet exploding[195]. Using ki volley attacks come with the caveat of their aim being rather poor, making it harder to hit moving targets. If ki users are at all possessed, even by accident, their true self will be sleeping within, with the possessor needing to awaken them[196]. Even if awoken, they are immobilized and unable to move without the possessor giving them the ability to[197], even with them wanting to wake up, they cannot do it[198]. Specific waves can can suppress a ki users power, and put their consciousness to sleep[199]. If Ki users stamina is broken, they will unable to be able to continue fighting for a short while, this will also cancel out any ki attack they were attempting to use, including ultimate's[200], this also adds on that ki users guards are down while charging ultimate attacks. Their stamina can also be broken if a character moves far too fast and surprise attacks them while they're charging their ki[201]. Ki Users can also be grabbed out of charging their attacks[202]. When ki users radiate their Ki at its highest, their body is also freed the most, making them open to attacks and making them easy to possess[203]. Ki attacks can be blocked by magma based attacks, such as even when Vegeta's strongest charged blast, the final flash, was being blocked by Magetta's magma[204]. Ki users have far lower reactions and speeds when they do not have their ki up or are not on guard, such as when Mai's sniper would've hit Goku Black if she didn't miss[205].
- Turtle Hermit Style Weaknesses: As the style does not incorporate any real fighting techniques[206], it has a heavy reliance on durability[207], stamina[208], muscles and speed[209], along with agility[210], thus anyone with superior statistics then them can easily overpower this style[211], along with this any character capable of using attacks that bypass defense altogether such as pressure point strikes can easily overcome a turtle hermit style user, even if they use extra forms and techniques to heighten their defenses[212]. Thus anyone with techniques that ignore statistics or are simply higher in statistics than a Turtle Hermit Style user can easily overcome this style.
- Unique Weaknesses: As a kid Chi-Chi was very naive and impulsive, instantly trying to attack Yamcha upon seeing him. During her time as an adult she has a short temper having her lash out easily.
Note
- Some clips used on the profile come from an anime or movie due to the fact that some abilities Goku use shouldn't function much differently from how they can in canon, along with this sometimes the anime version/video game version of a scene will be used for cleaner visuals. Toriyama himself directly overlooks scenes in the anime and movies and gives Toei the thumbs up[213].
- The speed scaling for PLs are taken with a grain of salt as there are noticeable times where someone's speed isn't equal to their power, such as Burter being faster then Recoome and Jeice, along with Super Saiyan Grade 3 Trunks having his power greatly increased but his speed decreased.
Explanations
Trivia
- The name Chi-Chi is derived from the Japanese word for milk. In Japanese, "chichi" can mean both "milk" or "udder," and it is also a term for "father." This is acknowledged in the series when Chi-Chi introduces herself to Master Roshi, who remarks that she is called Chi-Chi while Bulma possesses "chi-chis."
- The name can also mean "God" in some West African and Igbo languages.
- In the Latin American Spanish dub, Chi-Chi is renamed "Milk" because "chichi" is a colloquial term for breasts in Mexico.
- In the European Portuguese dub, she is renamed "Kika" because "chi chi" is an informal term for urine in Portuguese.
- Chi-Chi's hobby is farm work.
- Her blood type is AB.
- Her favorite food is Chinese chimaki, also known as zongzi.
- Her favorite vehicle is a tractor.
- The armor Chi-Chi wears as a child resembles the armor worn by Pola from Akira Toriyama's early one-shot manga Pola & Roid.
- In the anime, Goku encounters Chi-Chi multiple times between their first meeting and the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament. However, in the manga, Chi-Chi does not reappear after her introduction until the 23rd Tournament, which makes it more understandable why Goku could have forgotten her.
- In the Viz Media translation of volume 15, Oolong comments that Chi-Chi speaks with a "hick accent."
- Chi-Chi's influence over Goku is a recurring gag in the series. Despite being one of the most powerful beings in the universe, Goku is terrified of his wife when she is angry, leading Master Roshi to comment that the only thing a Super Saiyan fears is his wife.
- In a comedic outburst of rage, Chi-Chi produces a Kaio-ken-like aura when using a Kiai after Maron called her an old lady in the Garlic Jr. Saga. She also exhibits a similar aura in Dragon Ball Super when Gohan suggests that Goten fight Goku.
- It is possible that Gohan inherited his temper from his mother, which, combined with his Saiyan-human hybrid nature, may have contributed to his power being tied to his emotions, particularly rage. While Gohan rarely displays comedic rage, he does show Chi-Chi-like anger when his father suggests using Videl as a bribe for Old Kai, which Gohan angrily refuses.
- In the anime, Chi-Chi has fought nearly every member of her family at some point. She fought Goku in the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament, fought Gohan while he was under the influence of the Black Water Mist, and fought Goten while training him as a child.
- Chi-Chi refers to Super Saiyans as "delinquents" in anime filler, such as when she discovers Gohan has transformed into a Super Saiyan, and when Goten first transforms, she calls him a monster. She also expresses disdain for Super Saiyans in her commentary in Budokai Tenkaichi 3, again referring to them as "delinquents."
- Her disapproval of the Super Saiyan form, particularly for Gohan and Goten, reflects a Japanese social taboo, where dyeing one's hair blonde is often viewed as an act of rebellion against family values, due to its association with Western culture.
- Chi-Chi is also the name of a Slime character in the animated adaptation of Dragon Warrior III, a video game that featured character designs by Akira Toriyama.
- Beat's mother from the Victory Mission manga strongly resembles Chi-Chi in both appearance and personality. Since Beat is revealed to be a descendant of Goku in World Mission, it is possible that he is descended from Goku through his maternal line, as her resemblance to Chi-Chi may be hereditary. However, unlike Goku Jr., it is not specified which of Goku and Chi-Chi's sons Beat is descended from.
Codex Statistics Questions
Q: What about the planetary feats in Dragon Ball?
A: Planetary feats are normally done through their strongest charged blast, where they can gather ki to shoot out blast far beyond what the character is normally capable of[214], with blasts capable of[215] seriously damaging/destroying[216] the Earth along with completely obliterating the opponent[217], though they themselves are never capable of leaving this unscathed.
Frieza throws a destroy the planet death ball attack but it doesn't destroy the planet. Goku then interestingly notes the reason the planet didn't blow up is because Frieza was too scared of getting caught in the blast[218] . Vegeta's final flash is noted it's going to destroy the planet and Perfect Cell, who is beyond Vegeta, couldn't tank the blast and had to dodge it last second or it would've killed him[219]. Goku's kamehameha was going to destroy the earth and Cell cannot tank this blast, needing to regenerate[220]. Semi-Perfect Cell explosion was consistently noted it was going to destroy the planet and Gohan and it killed Goku[221]. Ultimate Gohan dies to an attack that destroys the earth, his guard was up too since this was when he was fighting Super Buu[222]. Kid Buu shoots a blast trying to destroy the planet, with Vegeta noting he's going to take himself out with it if he lets it off[223]. In Dragon Ball GT, Great Ape Baby Vegeta shoots a super galick gun that he claims will destroy Earth, when Goku is hit by it, he is knocked out to the point that he can't move for a good while, Elder Kai and Shin later state that Baby is going to shoot another blast that will destroy the planet on, greatly injuring Baby if he's caught in the Blast and will kill everyone on the planet if done[224]. Frieza destroyed the entire earth, killing Vegeta in the process[225]. In the Dragon Ball Super Manga, Gohan tells Goku that he doesn't need to hold anything back and can go all out because anything that happens to the Earth can be restored with Dende and the Dragon Balls. Yet, none of Goku's all out attacks destroy the planet but just heavily causes shockwaves around it[226]. Semi-Perfect Cell unleashes a several blast that destroys several islands Android 16 notes that the attacks are just strong enough to not kill Android 18[227].
In the fight of Trunks vs. Mecha Frieza, who is far stronger than his final form, Mecha Frieza immediately goes for his strongest attack, the Supernova. In the original Z anime King Kai even states this is ten times stronger than the power he used on Namek:
- DBZ Kai Version[228].
- Original DBZ Anime Version[229]. The attack is directly noted that it could destroy the planet, but doesn't because Trunks catches it, when Mecha Frieza proceeds to detonate it, the explosion is massive but the planet is still intact, implying Frieza must target the core in order to destroy the planet.
