Background

Son Goku, born Kakarot, is a Saiyan raised on Earth and the overall main protagonist of the Dragon Ball series. Originally was sent to Earth as an infant, Kakarot would be adopted by Grandpa Gohan who named him Son Goku. A head injury at an early age alters Goku's memory, ridding him of his initial destructive nature and allowing him to grow up to become one of Earth's greatest defenders. He constantly strives and trains to be the greatest warrior possible, which has kept the Earth and the universe safe from destruction many times.

Dark Empire Saga In the manga, one of the Dark Dragon Balls travels back to the Battle of Namek and fuses with Frieza, with its power, the now Xeno Frieza is able to easily take down Super Saiyan Goku Xeno Goku and Xeno Trunks arrive to correct the timeline and help Goku fight Xeno Frieza. Xeno Frieza goes into his 100% Full Power state to block two Super Kamehamehas fired by Xeno Goku and Super Saiyan Goku, but the attacks give Xeno Trunks enough time to get behind Xeno Frieza and cleave him in half - in the same manner that Xeno Frieza's Death Saucer did in the proper time - knocking the Dark Dragon Ball away from Xeno Frieza. The fight then continues as it is meant to, with the injured Frieza begging Goku for mercy and afterwards the timeline restores to normal. Prison Planet Saga At some point after the Tournament of Power, Goku and Vegeta are back to training with Whis on Beerus' planet. Future Trunks and Future Mai travel back in time and Future Trunks trains with Goku and Vegeta. Future Trunks is kidnapped and taken to the Prison Planet, so Goku, Vegeta and Future Mai head there to rescue him. On the Prison Planet, Goku encounters another Goku, both Goku's see that the other possess a form that the other does not have (Goku with Super Saiyan Blue and Xeno Goku with Super Saiyan 4) and so they wish to see who is stronger, the two seem evenly matched but in the end Goku defeats Xeno Goku, who notes that Goku is a step above him. Goku questions Xeno Goku, but finds they are on the same side. Fu arrives and explains the situation and how to escape the Prison Planet - by obtaining the seven special Dragon Balls held by the prisoners. In the anime, shortly afterwards they are confronted by the evil Saiyan Cumber. After Goku transforms into a Super Saiyan 2 and attacks Cumber, he loses all reason having come into contact with such evil ki and mutates into a Super Saiyan: Berserk where he then then begins to attack Vegeta instead. After Future Trunks arrives with Cooler, Cooler transforms to become Golden Cooler and with his newfound strength defeats Goku with a single punch causing him to regain his senses. After Mai tosses him and Vegeta a pair of Potara, the two fuse to become Vegito in order to fight against Cumber. After using up all their power in the fusion, they return to their individual selves only to see a Golden Great Ape Cumber standing in front of them. Goku attempts to battle it as a Super Saiyan but is quickly beaten and stepped on. In order to escape from being crushed, Goku transforms into a Super Saiyan Blue and proceeds to use the Kaio-ken X20, but the battle is interrupted by Fu who reverts Cumber to his normal state, so he does not destroy the seal surrounding the Prison Planet. Cumber continues to attack Goku who now uses the form of Super Saiyan God but is still beaten beaten and almost killed before being saved by Xeno Goku now with Xeno Vegeta. Vegeta tries to wake up Goku to get all of them out of here when Suddenly Goku reawakens into Ultra Instinct. With his counterpart in a stunned silence, Goku very quickly overwhelms and dominates Cumber. Goku looks at his counterpart before going back in to finish Cumber. Xeno Goku, knowing himself, asks everyone to grab onto him and uses Instant Transmission to teleport off the planet. Ultra Instinct Goku then defeats Cumber with a Kamehamaha. Before he can finish him, Fused Zamasu arrives and steals Cumber's body away, leaving Goku alone on the blowing up planet. Unversal Conflict Saga Goku was saved by the Grand Minister, who brought Goku to Zeno's planet and gave him new attire that resembled his own. The Grand Minister takes him to Universe 11 where both his allies and his enemies are surprised to see him. In the anime, without saying as much as a word, he enters into his Ultra Instinct Sign state and swats Oren, who is in possession of Vegeta's body, off of Future Trunks to save him. As Zamasu and Hearts make a remark on Goku's Godly power, an agitated Oren attempts to attack Goku but he is easily overpowered and unable to land a single attack. With a single punch, Goku is able to separate Oren from Vegeta and then blasts away an incoming Kamin. He then stares up at Hearts, prepared to face him next. Goku hovers up to Hearts, confirming that he is the person he'd been told of when Kamin and Oren attack him in unison. Goku easily overwhelms them with his strength and reflexes and knocks them down again. After Kamin and Oren merge together to become Kamioren, Goku briefly battles the merged warrior until Hearts summons Lagss who appears within a large, pointed glass shard that Hearts sends towards Goku. Goku exerts all his strength in destroying the shard and reverts back to his normal state in the process. Lagss then uses the broken smaller pieces to attack Goku and severely injures him to the point he falls down. Trunks saves him just in time from being hit by a vital attack but then manages to get to his fight to in turn save Trunks though receives even more damage. When Hearts sends Lagss onward to Universe 3, Hearts vows to draw out Goku's true Ultra Instinct power. Goku transforms into a Super Saiyan and charges at Hearts but is immediately brought down by his Gravity Burst technique. Just then Shin teleports into the area and he and Goku teleport themselves, Trunks and Vegeta away. They arrive in Universe 7 where Piccolo and Android 17 join up with them in order to battle the Core Area Warriors that appear. Goku transforms into a Super Saiyan and heads directly for Hearts but is once again repeatedly slammed to the ground via his Gravity Burst technique. After Hearts powers up, Goku gets to his feet ready for another round. Goku and Hearts begin fighting though he is forced backwards by a barrage of punches. With little other choice, Goku powers up further into his Super Saiyan Blue state. Now able to compete with Hearts on equal grounds but is pushed back as Hearts comments that Goku's desire to fight can only be satisfied by him, which Goku rebuffs. The two acknowledge that neither is still using their full power. When the fight commences again, Goku turns the tides on him and overwhelms Hearts with a Kamehameha. However, Hearts gets back on his feet and taunts Goku before using his Gravity powers on him. When Hearts uses his Gravity Fist technique, Goku is shown to be at a disadvantage as Hearts begins to power up even further. Hearts draws his energy cubes towards him and charges at Goku hard enough to send him to the ground and out of his Super Saiyan Blue form. After Kamioren undergoes a transformation after merging with the power of the Universe Seed, Goku intervenes and stops one of Kamioren's punches aimed for Vegeta but is far overpowered and caught in his grip. After struggling to break free, he enters into his Ultra Instinct Sign state once more and instinctively dodges Kamioren's punches and energy blasts. Kamioren fires a Mouth Energy Wave at Goku which he stops in its tracks and sends back at his enemy. As he brings his opponent down to his knees, Kamioren fires another energy wave, but this time around is able to catch him. Goku withstands the energy blast and emerges in his mastered Ultra Instinct state where he then proceeds to dominate the battle. When the other members of the Dragon Team launch an energy barrage at Kamioren, Goku fires off a powerful Kamehameha which causes the red bio-gem on Kamioren's chest to begin to crack. Goku charges forward and follows up with a strike to the gem which causes Kamioren to shatter into pieces. Exhausted, Goku reverts back to his normal state. When Hearts is merging with the Universe Seed, Fused Zamasu appears to defend him. He takes down the entire Dragon Team with a single blow each, but Goku manages to regroup himself and fights on, but unable to transform due to being exhausted of energy from recently using Ultra Instinct, he is at a disadvantage and Zamasu soon twists his arm around his back. He is saved by the appearance of Jiren and soon after Hit. The three attempt to take on Zamasu but are pushed back by a pulse from the newly completed Universe Seed. Goku and the rest of the group prepare to face Hearts when he uses a collection of green orbs to attack and enclose the group in a tight space. Hearts takes Goku down with a single blow along with the others but as they get to their feet, Goku is the first to attack, transforming into a Super Saiyan Blue. However, his momentum is halted as Hearts tells him that he can see his movements and his heart before sending him flying backwards. After suffering through another onslaught, Goku suggests to Vegeta that they should fuse, not knowing when his Ultra Instinct may be available to him again. While his friends buy him time, Goku and Vegeta complete the process to fuse into Gogeta. Gogeta eventually defeats Hearts and returns peace to the Earth. Jiren asks why they didn't fuse together during the Tournament of Power. Before Gogeta can respond, he defuses back into Goku and Vegeta individually. Vegeta finishes the explanation that it's because he never wants to fuse with Goku. Goku laughs off the comment, saying that next time he will deal with the enemy all by himself. Universe Creation Saga In the anime, at Capsule Corporation, Goku examines a strange bird he's found named Tokitoki, until it unexpectedly bites him on the nose after saying it has a stupid looking face. Gohan, Piccolo, Krillin and Android 17 join Goku's side in figuring out what the bird is when Xeno Trunks and Xeno Pan appear from another dimension in search of Tokitoki and explain how important he is. Suddenly the twelve Gods of Destruction appear and threaten them, surprised Goku asks what Beerus is doing, and he explains to Goku his prediction of a strange bird appearing in Universe 7 and destroying all universes. The Gods of Destruction prepare to destroy everyone when Beerus halts them, wanting to take responsibility for his own universe. Goku and Vegeta head up to face Beerus and transform into Super Saiyan Blue. Goku charges at Beerus and throws a string of attacks at Beerus that are unable to land before being kicked away with ease. The fight is put to a halt with the arrival of Xeno Goku and Xeno Vegeta who point out the roots belonging to the Universe Tree. Fu shows up shortly afterwards and explains his plans to create a new universe using the tree which will come at the cost of other planets and lifeforms. After disappearing, Beerus unleashes his own power to counter the tree, halting it from being able to absorb energy for the time being, but unable to keep it up for long, Goku, Vegeta and Xeno Trunks head off in order to search for Fu and put a stop to his plans. They are joined by Xeno Pan and Tokitoki who manage to track down an area where they believe Fu will appear. Before he does however, Turles and Bojack who are sided with Fu arrive with intentions of revenge from having been defeated years prior. As the two quickly become hostile, Goku transforms into a Super Saiyan Blue to confront Turles and his new Evil Saiyan power. As they battle, Fu appears and Goku and Vegeta attempt to face him but are struck in the back by energy blasts as Turles and Bojack refuse to let them leave. The two continue to battle until Dogidogi, under the command of Fu, flaps his wings to freeze Goku and the others in place allowing Fu to take the opportunity to capture Tokitoki and escape through a space-time distortion. Shortly afterwards, Goku and the rest of his group unexpectedly fall through a time distortion where they meet up with Xeno Goku and Xeno Vegeta once again along with a very hostile and empowered Janemba. Believing Janemba to be another one of Fu's companions, Goku and Vegeta transform into Super Saiyan Blue and attack head on but find themselves unable to land a blow due to Janemba being given analysis on their alternate counterparts' abilities. Goku continues to battle. now alongside Xeno Goku and the two finally land a punch just before Salsa and Putine intervene. Goku and the others are drawn into battle once more with Janemba and still at a disadvantage and with few options, Goku, Vegeta, Xeno Trunks and Xeno Pan pool their Saiyan Power into Xeno Goku and Xeno Vegeta, allowing them to enter into the Super Full Power Saiyan 4 Limit Breaker state where they go on to finish off Janemba. Then he and the others are teleported to the location of the Universe Tree thanks to Putine's magic. Shortly after arriving, Fu appears, followed by Towa who teleports everyone away, leaving only Vegeta, Goku and Fu left at the Time Rift. When Vegeta attempts to take on Fu, he is overtaken when Fu uses Cumbers energy, that he has obtained for his own use, to turn Vegeta Berserk. Goku transforms into Super Saiyan Blue and tries to aid Vegeta, but he too is taken over. The two enraged Saiyans flail wildly at Fu who easily fends them off before purifying them of their Evil Aura. With time running short and the Universe Tree close to destroying their universe, Goku removes a Potara from his pocket that he retrieved from Salsa and tosses it to Vegeta where they fuse once more into Vegito. New Space-Time War Saga In the anime, after Fu creates his new universe, Goku awakens alone in a strange and eerie alternate version of West City on Earth, wondering what is going on. He is attacked by the Frieza Force including Frieza and Meta-Cooler while trying to escape from Fu's Universe. He teams up with Hearts to fight the Golden Brothers, using Ultra Instinct Sign to fight and quickly overwhelm Frieza before returning to his base form. However, the galactic tyrants are given a burst of power when they unexpectedly find themselves merged with a Dark Dragon Ball. The two brothers are able to pressure Goku and Hearts until Broly arrives on the scene and takes down everyone with ease. After Broly takes off after the Warrior in Black and the Crimson-Masked Saiyan leaves. An exhausted Goku sits on the ground and Hearts tosses him a Senzu Bean. Goku recovers and thanks Hearts as he brings out the Four-Star Dragon Ball and tells Goku that if the Senzu Bean still had the same effect in the Space-Time then the same should be true for the Dragon Balls. The two decide to collect all the Dragon Balls and use them to escape. They head to Capsule Corporation where Goku collects the Dragon Radar. Turning it on, he picks up two signals, one of which belongs to Hearts and the other up above them. Goku teleports himself and Hearts to Planet Vegeta. There, the Crimson-Masked Saiyan arrives and informs Goku that he is his opponent before transforming into a Super Saiyan Rosé. Goku realizes that this is indeed Goku Black, revived through unknown means. Black proclaims that he will defeat his original counterpart and prove himself to be superior. Goku goes Super Saiyan Blue and the two fight, with Hearts following them after transforming into Super Hearts. However, Goku Black defeats the two, holding the former by the neck and swiftly tosses him aside. However, Goku unexpectedly returns and appears behind the Crimson-Masked Saiyan in his Ultra Instinct Sign state. The Crimson-Masked Saiyan blasts Goku at point-blank range, though it causes no damage to him. Goku proceeds to avoid every one of his opponent's attacks and appears to have the advantage in battle. The Crimson-Masked Saiyan takes to the skies and fires a couple of energy blasts to leave Planet Vegeta on the verge of destruction. Goku attempts to use Instant Transmission to escape but is unable to as he cannot sense any other ki signatures. However, much to everyone's surprise Cell appears and teleports everyone away just in nick of time. Goku asks Cell how he was able to come back though Cell simply says it is just the same as how Hearts was able to. Vegeta asks why he decided to save them, but Cell tells them to be patient and hear what he has to say. Two other figures then appear behind the group with Goku and Vegeta surprised at their identity. Goku and the others join Gohan and his group in a nearby cavern and shortly afterwards Shroom appears along with Salsa and Putine and explains that Cell is lending a hand in taking the Crimson-Masked Saiyan. With a powerful enemy to face and Goku not having yet mastered Ultra Instinct, Shroom and the other demons open up a doorway to a room similar to that of the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. Goku and Vegeta go inside where they face phantoms in the guise of enemies from the past and seemingly complete their training in time, leaving the room and making their way to West City to face the powered up Super Saiyan Rosé 3 Crimson-Masked Saiyan. Together with Vegeta, they overpower their foe with Goku landing a mighty foe that sends his opponent hurtling into a building, shortly afterwards Goku's Ultra Instinct state runs out. However, the Crimson-Masked Saiyan enters into his Super Saiyan Rosé Full Power state and Goku and Vegeta are left with no choice but to fuse into Gogeta once again. Gogeta successfully defeats the powerful adversary and defuses. The Warrior in Black re-appears carrying the full set of Dragon Balls which he uses to send everyone out of the Pseudo Universe. Goku finds himself back in the Crack of Time where he encounters a younger looking Fu who has absorbed Dogidogi. When Vegeta appears, Goku fuses him with again to become Gogeta and fights along Xeno Gogeta but the two are quickly overpowered and defuse. Fu then throws the Vegeta's into a dark vortex to prevent further fusion, but the Goku's receive some unexpected backup in the form of Chronoa. Chronoa heals the pairs injuries and asks that the two power up to their limit. She then performs a technique that allows the two Saiyans to merge their Ki together. They attack with a combined Kamehameha, which breaks through all of Fu's barriers, forcing him to block it himself. Despite Fu stating the attack was dangerous, Xeno Goku notes that, even with this immense power, he and his alternate self are still unable to beat the Dark King. Fu begins absorbing power from the Universe Tree, and to an extent, all of the universe itself. When Fu attacks tries to attack Chronoa, Goku grabs one of Fu's tendrils and rips it off. The energy given off by the tendril at first begins to overwhelm him, but Goku manages to harness it for his own by also harnessing the Universe Tree's power to gain Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan (Universe Tree Power). Goku and Fu two engage in an epic battle, climaxing with a powerful beam struggle that ends with Goku managing to finish him with a Kamehameha. Fu finds it impossible that the universe has so much potential, and with those seemingly being his last words, he is defeated with a smile on his face. After the battle, Goku is sent back to where he came from after Toktoki uses his power to restore Universe 7. Supreme Kai of Time Saga Meanwhile on Earth, Goku enjoys a nap during his farm work. Coming around, he is approached by a Mysterious Guide. After introducing himself, he tells Goku that he has been invited to the "Super Space-Time Tournament", a tournament to determine the strongest fighter from every space-time. Obviously excited by the prospect, Goku quickly accepts and is teleported away to the tournament's location. Once there, Goku reunites with Gohan, Piccolo, Vegeta, Hit, Jiren and Yamcha. The Mysterious Guide re-appears and explains the rules of the tournament before the participates are teleported to the battlefield. On the battlefield Goku quickly crosses paths with his timeline counter-part Xeno Goku who are each elated at the prospect of fighting each other once again. However, Xeno Goku states his intention with the host of the tournament Aeos. Before he can explain his reasons as to why, the two Goku are ambushed by another team. They quickly take them down before setting sights on each other as the prospect of facing another Goku is too exciting to pass up. Goku transforms into Super Saiyan Blue while Xeno Goku transforms into Super Saiyan 4 begin their rematch until it is halted due to members of their team finding Time Fairies which return them to the main hall having progressed through the initial round. For the second round, Goku is sent to a stylized version of Planet Vegeta along with Jiren where they face off against the Super Saiyan 3 Warrior in Black and transforms into Ultra Instinct Sign ready for battle. Goku requests that he be allowed to fight him alone due to his opponent being a fellow Saiyan and asks his opponent who he is after he appears to know his true Saiyan name though he does not give a clear answer. The two engage in combat and Goku is able to prevail after overpowering him in a beam struggle. Goku then heads to the Time Nest where he sees Chronoa having been defeated by Aeos in her Time Power Unleashed state. Goku turns to Aeos and thanks her hosting the tournament but asks that she not erase any timelines as there are still living beings in them. Aeos declines his request and attempts to use her powers to freeze him but Goku teleports behind her and transforms into his Ultra Instinct Sign state. The two battle until Goku uses his Instant Transmission to appear in front of Aeos before letting off a Kamehameha at point blank range. Aeos acknowledges the danger that Goku possesses and vows to eliminate him.

• Flying Nimbus: Flying Nimbus is a magical, yellow cloud that serves as a way of transportation. Goku obtains the Nimbus from Master Roshi as compensation for saving Turtle. It served Goku and his sons well throughout Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z, by acting as a way for them to fly around at high speeds without using up any energy.

• Senzu Beans: Senzu Beans are mystical beans with immense rejuvenation properties, being capable of healing entire wounds, such as one's stomach being punctured.

• Zeno Button: Zeno's Button is a teleportation device that would summon Zeno or Future Zeno to the location the user is at. On the other side there is another button where the user will be transported to Zeno. When Goku came to see Zeno, he invited him to come to Earth sometime, so Zeno gave him a button where Zeno would appear. Later in the Future timeline Goku thought he had another Senzu Bean only for it to turn out that it was Zeno's button. Goku used it to summon Future Zeno in order to erase Infinite Zamasu. Sometime later, Goku thought about reminding Zeno of the upcoming tournament. Beerus, however, was skeptical, even when Goku revealed the alternate button of teleporting himself to Zeno. Threatening to kill Goku, Goku tricked Beerus and teleported himself to Zeno.

Notable Techniques

• Rock, Scissors 'N' Paper: A technique taught to Goku by Grandpa Gohan which employs one of three attack styles; either a closed-fist assault, a two-finger jabbing assault, or an open-palm thrust assault. It was Goku's signature attack early on during his childhood, soon afterwards being replaced with the Kamehameha.

• Double Axe Hand: Goku cups his hands together and reels back, then slams his fists on the opponent.

• Eight-Arm Fist: A physical technique that involves its user moving their arms fast enough that they seemingly have eight of them, allowing them to attack and defend themselves much more efficiently. Used to counter Tien Shinhan's Four Witches Technique.

• Crazy Fist: A distraction technique used by Goku and designed to confuse and taunt the opponent. Pretending to be a wild uncontrollable dog or monkey, Goku catches his opponent off guard, and eventually knocks him out with a swift kick by jumping from behind. Goku uses this in reaction to Jackie Chun's Drunken Fist.

• Tornado!: After calling the name of the attack, Goku spins while rushing on the opponent to attack him/her. Used against Nam.

• Afterimage Technique: Goku creates perfect replica afterimages of himself to give the illusion of him still being in a location making it difficult for the opponent to actually harm his true self.

• Mid-Air Stop: While falling to the ground, Goku exhales his breath like an explosive blast to stop his decent. Goku uses this technique against King Chappa in the 22nd World Martial Arts Tournament preliminaries.

• Tail Helicopter: Goku swings his tail in a circle fast enough to hover and fly freely. Used only once, in his fight against Jackie Chun in the 21st World Martial Arts Tournament.

• Agile Style: After his training under Kami, Goku could remove the Weighted portions Turtle School Uniform to increase his power level and agility due to being no longer incumbered by the heavy weights allowing him to utilize a more agile fighting style hence its name. Goku first used it during the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament and later when he confronted his brother Raditz alongside Piccolo. According to Raditz's Scouter, Goku's power level rose from 334 to 416 indicating the weight removal alone increased his power level by 82. This state was named in Dragon Ball Legends (albeit in relation to Piccolo & Pikkon's use of Agile Style) where it is the "base" form used by Goku (DBL22-01S) which represents Goku from the period during which he fought Raditz.

• Dragonthrow: Goku grabs his opponent's arm, leg, tail, or antenna, then he spins and throws them away.

• Meteor Combination: First, Goku charges at the opponent and elbows them away. Then, he attacks the opponent with a powerful barrage of kicks and punches, ending with a heavy punch to their stomach. When the opponent lays on the ground paralyzed, Goku jumps up in the air and fires a Super Kamehameha down at the opponent, inflicting a massive amount of damage.

• Meteor Smash: Goku punches the opponent in the stomach. Then, he punches the opponent away and flies after them to right hook kick them in their face. Finally, Goku axe kicks the side of the opponent's head, knocking them away and inflicting a great deal of damage.

• Bōjutsu: The art of wielding a staff which Goku utilizes when wielding his Power Pole. Goku learned it from the Power Pole's previous owner, his adoptive Grandpa Gohan. Goku's Bōjutsu skills are so great that he can use his Power Pole to deflect bullets as shown during his assault on Muscle Tower. Additionally, due to the Power Pole's mystical length changing properties, his attack range with the Power Pole is much greater than an average staff.

• Kaoi-ken Finish: First, Goku charges at the opponent and kicks them up into the air. Then, he flies up after the opponent and double axe-handle punches them down to the ground. Next, he powers up to his Kaio-ken technique as he charges down at the opponent and double-punches them in their back. Finally, Goku quickly lands on the ground and catches the opponent on their back before throwing them onto the ground, inflicting a great deal of damage.

• Kaoi-Ken Attack: Goku powers up to Kaio-ken x3 as he charges at the opponent and roundhouse kicks them up into the air. Then, he flies up in the air and punches the opponent away. Next, he flies up over the opponent and down behind to double kick them further up into the air. Finally, Goku flies up into the air around the opponent and hook kicks them down into the ground, inflicting a huge amount of damage.

• Dash Power: Surrounded by an aura of godly ki Goku dashes towards the opponent and delivers a straight arm punch to the opponent.

• Godly Ki mastery: Goku can change the nature of his ki to that of the gods, increasing his power drastically. With the Godly Ki, Goku gains access to god-level transformations such as the Super Saiyan God and Super Saiyan Blue.

• Regeneration: Super Saiyan God Goku is able to regenerate by pouring his godly ki into his wounds.

• Energy Nullification: During his battle with Beerus, Goku learned how to nullify the negative damaging effects of their clash.

• Ki Blast: The most basic energy attack, Goku creates a small form of energy that he blasts at an opponent, usually he uses this to keep his distance from an enemy or to distract them so he can land another attack.

• Kiai: A technique where Goku affects the air currents around him with ki to produce powerful shockwaves in order to strike the opponent at mid-range.

• Kamehameha: Goku's signature move since obtaining it. It unleashes a powerful and long-stretching blue energy blast from his cupped hands. Goku first learns the move as a kid after witnessing Master Roshi using it. It can be charged to compete with practically any enemy attack. Since mastering this technique, Goku has continued to improve on it and develop new variations of it.

• Spirit Bomb: Easily Goku's most powerful techniques and arguably the strongest in the series, it allows Goku to channel ki from all sources of life that he can detect and focus it all into a single energy ball. It was taught to him by King Kai during his training for the upcoming battle against Vegeta and Nappa. Over time, Goku continually learned to expand the range of which he could gather energy, thereby increasing both the size and power of the Spirit Bomb. He reserves this technique as a last-ditch effort for only the most powerful of foes.

• Instant Transmission: Goku learns this technique on the Planet Yardrat after his battle with Frieza by learning Spirit Control - which also allowed him to sense ki from a much greater distance. This technique allows him to teleport to any location so long as he can find an energy source to home onto. However, it also greatly extends his ability to sense energy. Noticeably in Yo Son Goku, he seemingly improved on the technique as transports to the radish field without sensing anyone, possibly because he had accurate enough knowledge of where it is.

• Solar Flare: Goku places his hands close to the center of his face with the fingers spread toward his eyes. He then calls out the name of the technique, which provokes a white light to fire out and blind everything watching except him, since he is projecting the light.

• Evil Containment Wave: A technique learned from Master Roshi to battle Goku Black and Future Zamasu. It binds a target in a swirling stream of green energy before being guided into a container. It also requires a special tag to properly complete the sealing. While normally life-threatening to use, Goku's immense power lets him use this multiple times without even remotely exhausting any of his strength. The benefit of the technique is to defeat enemies they cannot or will not kill.

• Fusion Dance: A short series of poses that are performed by two characters of equal power levels and roughly equal size. To correctly perform the Fusion, the fuses must strike the poses in a perfectly symmetrical image of one another. The result of a correctly performed Fusion Dance is a superior being whose power is multiplied several-fold over that of the individual fuses.

• Explosive Power: Goku rapidly switches between the Super Saiyan God and Super Saiyan Blue forms in order to utilize Super Saiyan Blue's power to its full potential.

• God Bind: By channeling the Saiyan God power through the user's hands, the user can use the energy generated to stop an opponent in their tracks.

• Autonomous Ultra Instinct: The art of automatic self-movement, Goku began learning this from Whis. During the Tournament of Power, Goku unlocked a special state, enabling him to put to usage this skill. While very crude at first and only able to apply it defensively, he ultimately learned to complete this power to defend and attack simultaneously with optimum efficiency. With this power, he is able to instinctively and instantly react to any nearby threat in the most effective way possible. Initially, Goku's usage of this ability was only unlocked subconsciously during dire situations and he was unable to activate it at will after the Tournament of Power.

• Kaoi-ken: Goku learns this technique while training under King Kai after dying against Raditz. While using it and any of its multipliers, Goku's various capacities and techniques are all proportionally increased. However, the strain of using too high a multiplier and/or for too long can be dangerous and greatly damage his body. As such, he ceased using it after his gaining Super Saiyan. While he can combine the two powers, Goku never tried this while alive as doing so could lead to near-certain death. Later, however, with his Super Saiyan Blue, taking advantage of his divine form's superior energy control and more naturally calm mindedness, he was able to use this technique more regularly.

• Super Saiyan: Goku achieves this form in a rage after Frieza killed Krillin. In this form, Goku's muscle and height slight increase and his skin turns lighter. His eyes become noticeably sterner and more defined with green eyes. His hair becomes blond and stands with no loose strands. His power also generates a yellow aura. In the anime, when unleashing the full intensity of his power, Goku's aura also produces some slight electrical sparks. Goku's demeanor is greatly affected by this form, making him more aggressive and irritable.
  • Super Saiyan Second Grade: Realizing that the androids' power exceeds a Super Saiyan, Goku entered the Hyperbolic Time Chamber to surpass the basic Super Saiyan form. Ultimately, Goku unlocked this form after weeks of training. However, Goku realized that this form spends too much ki to be maintained. Rather than attempting the more arduous and time-consuming task of refining this form, Goku came to the conclusion that the basic Super Saiyan form is better suited for combat, making a plan to master it and abandon this form completely. As a result of this and discovering more powerful forms, this form is never used again.
  • Super Saiyan Third Grade: Along with Second Grade, Goku achieves this form in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. While vastly stronger than Second Grade, the power output is too intense, causing Goku's muscles to become engorged from the struggle of maintaining this unsteady power boost. This instability drained his ki too fast to be of use for long. It also causes an extreme drop in his speed and agility, tiring him even more and reducing his effectiveness overall. Goku noted that while much stronger than Semi-Perfect Cell, it meant nothing if he could not actually hit his foe with it. This made this form impractical against foes of any real speed. Instead of training to overcome this problem, Goku decides that simply mastering the basic Super Saiyan, feeling that it is the best way to fight and gain power. As such a result, this form is never used again.
  • Mastered Super Saiyan: After realizing the weaknesses inherent to the higher Super Saiyan grades, Goku concluded that mastery over the basic Super Saiyan form would be more beneficial. He used the remainder of his time chamber training learning to maintain Super Saiyan for extended periods. Gradually, he overcame the heightened aggression and uneasiness that accompanies this form to feel as natural as his base form, reducing the energy drain to nothing and increasing his endurance to achieve a max output for this form without drawbacks even in regular life. Ultimately, he is able to enter, maintain, and fight in this form for as long as he desires at its full potential with no loss in efficiency or performance. In the anime, with this mastery, during the Tournament of Power, Goku - having gone well-beyond his limits - was able to flash between base and Super Saiyan to defeat Jiren alongside Frieza despite his battered and exhausted state.
  • Super Saiyan (Berserk): During the events of the Prison Planet Saga, Goku obtained this berserker state when he faced Cumber. This state is a corruption; during which, his skin-tone is tanner, and his aura turns darker, consisting of an orange glow surrounded by a dark purple and black regularly accompanied by black electricity sparks in his aura. Also, his pupils disappear, representing his diminished/lack of cognitive thought. It also causes his blasts to become red and black.

• Super Saiyan 2: Goku achieved this form at some time after Cell's defeat while in the Other World. In this form, Goku gains some changes; his hair becomes spikier, his forehead has only three bangs over it, making his hair more defined than his other previous Super Saiyan forms. His muscles also become more defined, and his aura also generates electricity surrounding his body, while the aura grows markedly larger and more vibrant. Since gaining greater forms, Goku reserves this form for opponents he takes semi-seriously.

• Super Saiyan 3: Goku's strongest form in the original manga and anime. Goku achieved this level after years of training in Other World, where he could put unlimited energy into this form. In this form, his hair reaches down to his thighs and his eyebrows vanish completely while making the forehead and eye ridges larger and more prominent. His muscle mass grows noticeable larger more defined while his eyes gain green irises. His aura also becomes rounder with larger electrical sparks. Goku first used this form against Innocent Buu during the Majin Buu Saga, where he had a slight advantage over the Majin. However, this form is extremely draining in terms of energy due to the living world having less energy to siphon. This made him tire fast and even cut Goku's time left on Earth from hours to a mere thirty minutes after using this form for a short time. When attempting to gather enough energy to defeat Kid Buu, he was unable to sustain it as he had not taken into account the strain overcoming his living body, and soon reverted to his base state. Altogether, these heavy disadvantages make it impractical to use this form out of the afterlife and even more while alive.

Super Saiyan God: The "Super Saiyan God" is the legend among legends of the warrior race, the Saiyans. The power of six good-hearted Saiyans must be infused for one of them to achieve this legendary form. As Shenron explains to the Dragon Team and company, a Super Saiyan God once appeared on Planet Vegeta to stop the evil Saiyans but he failed because of the form's time limit. The Namekians were aware of the Super Saiyan God and wrote of the method to achieve the form in their book of legends. When in this form, the Saiyan's general appearance has only slight differences: the most notable change is the slight pink skin tone (similar to the usage of Fury) and hair that is a shade of red. In this form, Goku possesses magenta-red hair while Vegeta possesses crimson red hair. The hair retains its natural style but becomes more refined (losing any stray hairs). The Saiyan's eyes become more detailed, and the irises become red (appearing as more relaxed even in battle until sufficiently angered). The overall body structure appears to become younger and thinner in frame and build, though this is not the case for the Future Warrior and Shallot, as their musculature stays the same in their Super Saiyan God forms. The aura of the Super Saiyan God resembles a raging fire. At the time of its debut, Super Saiyan God was "a being that surpasses everything". The power of this form is great enough to allow Goku to compete against the non-fully powered God of Destruction Beerus, who effortlessly defeated Super Saiyan 3 Goku, later the combined effort of Potential Unleashed Gohan (Potential Unleashed Super Saiyan Gohan in the original movie), Good Buu, Piccolo, Android 18, Tien Shinhan, and Gotenks (Super Saiyan in the movie, Super Saiyan 3 in the manga, and base form in the anime), and even a one-on-one assault from a enraged Super Saiyan 2 Vegeta.

• • Saiyan Beyond God: After experiencing the power of Super Saiyan God, Goku learned to use the raw might and enhanced senses of this god-like power without transforming. When in this state, while his physical appearance remains unchanged, his ki can be manifested as a pure white aura. If Goku attempts to become a Super Saiyan while using this power, he will instead become Super Saiyan Blue.

• Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan: Super Saiyan Blue, also known as Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan, is an extremely powerful transformation and a transcension of the Super Saiyan God form. By undertaking godly ki training with a deity to wield the power of Super Saiyan God in one's natural state, a Saiyan may achieve a divinity-empowered base form, which allows them to use Super Saiyan Blue as the Super Saiyan version of Super Saiyan God and surpass it in power. While Super Saiyan God can be easily achieved through a specialized ritual, Super Saiyan Blue has no such shortcuts and must be extensively trained in order to be used correctly. In Goku's words, this form is what happens when a "Saiyan with the power of a Super Saiyan God further transforms himself into a Super Saiyan". Simply, it is the first Super Saiyan form combined with the power and godly ki of a Super Saiyan God turned cyan blue, due to a mortal absorbing it. The form can be obtained by a Saiyan who has become a Super Saiyan God and then retained the power; if the Saiyan utilizes the might of Super Saiyan God and then attempts to transform into a Super Saiyan, they will instead naturally evolve into a Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan (Super Saiyan Blue or Super Saiyan Rosé, depending on the individual's status). Alternatively, as shown in the anime and by Goku Black in the manga, the Saiyan can evolve their standard Super Saiyan form into a Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan form if they increase its strength until it surpasses Super Saiyan God.
  • Super Saiyan Blue Kaio-ken: Thanks to the Super Saiyan Blue form's great ki and emotional control, Goku can utilize Kaio-ken alongside it with far less risk. In this state, Goku gains a double aura, leaving Goku to appear as a basic Super Saiyan Blue with his blue over while a larger red aura surrounds it. Goku first used this against Hit in the Tournament of Destroyers. While using Kaio-ken levels too extreme for his body to handle, Goku's blue hair turns a pale blue that is whitish, and his skin is illuminated to a light red. In which case, it will gradually damage his body. This unstable state also will give Goku Delayed Onset Ki Disorder, sending Goku's ki into flux, making him unable to properly access his energy for a few days. By the Tournament of Power, Goku had mastered this technique up to x20 with no instability or strain.
  • Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan (Berserk): During the Universe Creation Saga, Fu infects Super Saiyan Blue Goku with Cumber's evil aura thus turning him into Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan (Berserk). In this form, Goku's might in Super Saiyan Blue becomes nearly useless due to losing all sense of reason and resorts to wild flailing attacks as opposed to using his highly toned martial arts prowess.

• Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan (Universe Tree Power): During the New Space-Time War Saga, Goku took on this state upon absorbing and then harnassing the power contained within the Universe Tree. This gave Goku the strength to finish off Fu once and for all.

• Ultra Instinct Sign: A state first attained during the Tournament of Power. Originally, in the anime, Goku did this by absorbing the energy of the Spirit Bomb as a bolster to break a mental shell in the subconscious to unlock a much deeper portion of his potential. In the manga, this state is the pinnacle of Goku's martial arts training; obtained from reflecting on Master Roshi's words and demonstration of proper movement, admitting to his shame in lack of personal growth and letting go of his self-doubt. With this, Goku's physical and mental parameters are vastly augmented, ranking among the most powerful entities in all the multiverse. His hair stands up somewhat, becoming wilder in shape with no loose strands. His eyes become more defined and sterner in shape, while also gaining silver irises. His aura becomes a complex silver with sparkle appearance. In this state, Goku's physical, mental, and energy parameters are vastly augmented, equally increasing his combat performance. He processes information far quicker and efficiently, letting him learn and adapt to all experiences. The highlight of this lets him automatically react to all threats in the most efficient way possible, even without consciously being aware of it. This augmented growth greatly accelerates his natural improvement, constantly imprinting on his experiences to become stronger, faster, and sharper in his actions with every skirmish. In the anime, entering this state also energize him and negate all previous wounds as a battered Goku showed against Kefla. However, initially usage of this state is random and unstable, only accessible for short periods of time and in the direst of situations. In the anime, by his fight against Kefla, while seemingly learning to access this state more willingly, as noted by Whis, Goku's usage is still incomplete. While his movements have become more refined, he struggles to switch his full attention on to his offense, inhibiting his attacks and techniques, requiring more time to build up energy for an assault to have sufficient power. The effort also appears to drain Goku quicker, returning him to his base form and in an exhausted state.
  • Ultra Instinct: Once understanding Whis' words behind self-movement, Goku learned to let go of all self-doubt and live in the moment. When fully synchronizing his impulses with his natural drive, Goku can subconsciously unlock the full potential of his offensive and defensive might. This culminates with Goku's silver glow consuming him, turning his hair silver and skin tone more ethereal in nature. The power in this form is vastly greater than his initial state that it completely shreds away his shirt (in the anime). In this state, Goku showed such fine control of his ki, able to calmly repel and contain any energy assault thrown at him. He can unleash barrages of his energy in focused shockwaves and cancel out all but the strongest of attacks. In addition, while accessing this state, Goku's body is full rejuvenated and, in the manga, can grow sturdier in areas in response to being attacked, even causing weaker foes to break their limbs trying to hit his body.

Other

Standard Tactics: Goku is a trained and gifted martial artists who has always kept the same tactics when entering battle. Goku will size up his opponent to see where their strengths and weaknesses lay, see how strong they are, and dish out various martial arts attacks and techniques to overwhelm his opponent. Goku will never immediately go all out from the start unless he fully needs to and will usually start with warm ups.

Weaknesses: Due to the nature of ki draining stamina and energy, Dragon Ball characters ki usage requires them to usually use their higher levels of energy in short bursts, allowing them to not be able to tank or die to far lower attacks such as attacks that have destroyed the planets of several worlds. His durability drops when off guard. Goku will not immedieatly go all out during a battle to size up his opponent and see how strong they are unless he openly needs too, making his guard low in some cases. Using Super Saiyan Blue Kaioken gives him an illness where he can't properly control his ki. If Goku uses ultra instinct for too long, black lightning will form around and cause him to feel massive pain, briefly knocking him out.

Note: The speed scaling for PLs are taken with a grain of salt as there are noticeable times where someone's speed isn't equal to their power, such as Burter being faster then Recoome and Jeice, along with Super Saiyan Grade 3 Trunks having his power greatly increased but his speed decreased.
