Son Goku (Xenoverse)

From The Codex
It's a little too soon to start giving up!
~ Goku to the Xenoverse 2 Future Warrior after saving them from final form Mira
Wow. That's um... Bad.
~ Goku to the Future Warrior if they fail their quest

Background

Son Goku, born Kakarot, is a Saiyan raised on Earth and the overall main protagonist of the Dragon Ball series. Originally was sent to Earth as an infant, Kakarot would be adopted by Grandpa Gohan who named him Son Goku. A head injury at an early age alters Goku's memory, ridding him of his initial destructive nature and allowing him to grow up to become one of Earth's greatest defenders. He constantly strives and trains to be the greatest warrior possible, which has kept the Earth and the universe safe from destruction many times.

This dropdown contains the synopsis of Son Goku’s story. Read at your own risk as you may be spoiled otherwise!

Xenoverse
Due to the arrival of the Time Breakers and their tampering with time, many of Goku's major battles were altered to give an advantage to his opponent, causing a change in history. However with help from the Future Warrior these changes were corrected, allowing history to play out as was intended.

Demon God Demigra Saga
After Demigra's escape from the Crack of Time, the Future Warrior is forced to fight the revived Buu, Cell, and Frieza. Chronoa then calls for Goku's help, in which he helps the Future Warrior defeat Buu, Cell, and Frieza, and the brainwashed Gotenks, Gohan, and Vegeta. After the Future Warrior returns to the Time Nest, he finds that Demigra has taken over Tokitoki City, and has brainwashed Trunks into doing his dirty work. Once Trunks was reverted to normal, Goku finds his way to the Time Nest. Due to his earlier transformation into a Super Saiyan God, he was immune to Demigra's magic. After Demigra's defeat, he escapes to the Time Next, and Goku uses Instant Transmission and brings everyone back to his location, the Time Vault. Demigra is angered and tries to destroy the Time Vault, despite Chronoa's warning. The Future Warrior and Super Saiyan 3 Goku charge at him, but Demigra fires spears at them both. One impales and kills the Future Warrior, while four of them trap Goku in an electrified force field. Then the Future Warrior (apparently from a different timeline) appears and destroys Goku's electrified gate. After the Future Warrior enters the portal that Demigra escaped to, Goku struggles to stop the gigantic energy ball from destroying Tokitoki.

Goku stops the giant ball from destroying Tokitoki, and uses Instant Transmission to catch up to Demigra and the Future Warrior in the Crack of Time. They fight Demigra in his final form, and finish him off with a combined Kamehameha. Once Demigra is defeated, Goku and the Future Warrior return to the Time Nest, where Trunks and Chronoa are relieved to see them. Goku then challenges the Future Warrior to a fight, where he/she gladly accepted. The Supreme Kai then stops them and tells them that fighting there would cause a disaster.

In the aftermath, Chronoa thanks Goku for everything. Goku then replies that he should be thanking her instead, for giving him something to be excited for. Goku then leaves, but not before being welcome to return in the future.

Xenoverse 2
Once again, due to the changes in history made by the Time Breakers, Goku's previous battles were changed for the worse. These changes were corrected thanks to the new Future Warrior being sent back in time to correct history.

Infinite History
He and Vegeta appear fighting Fu who they think is Whis. They later fight the Future Warrior and his teacher. If the teacher is Goku then the two Goku's will battle. Fu will turn one of the Goku's and Vegeta into Super Saiyan 4's with Blutz Waves and your Goku will respond by turning Super Saiyan Blue and the Goku's will battle each other, with Vegeta becoming increasingly annoyed and flustered of having to deal with two Goku's. Later if the right choices are made, Old Kai will manipulate Goku into wanting to fight Fu, as Old Kai believes Fu is responsible for everything. This will cause the Future Warrior to step in and fight in Fu's place. After the fight begins Fu will reappear and give all the energy he absorbed to the Future Warrior, which allows him to fight on par with and beat Super Saiyan Blue Goku, forcing Goku to push himself into Ultra Instinct, to which the fight was unfinished.

Altered Tournament of Power
Fu returns to once again cause trouble for the Time Patrol via another one of his "experiments", this time taking place in an alternate version of the Tournament of Power. In this altered timeline, Fu acts as a member of Universe 11 replacing Dyspo. The Time Patrol are forced to send in Time Patrol Trunks and the Conton City Hero, to fix Fu's alterations. Though successful, Fu retreats through a time rift.

Future Reborn
Time Patrol Trunks and the Conton City Hero follow Fu through the time rift, finding themselves in what appears to be Hell and assume it is Janemba's timeline of origin as the demon is apparently fighting Pikkon though neither are Goku, Vegeta, nor their fusion Gogeta is present. Eventually Fu uses one of his raid crystals to empower Janemba into his first stage Supervillain state and Janemba uses his Mystic Copy ability to create an army of clones. Fortunately, Future Gohan suddenly appears to assist Time Patrol Trunks, the Conton City Hero, and Pikkon, apparently having been brought back to life as a result of Janemba's reality warping (similar to how Frieza and some of the villains who escaped Hell in Fusion Reborn were brought back to life) as he lacks a Halo.

However, the Janemba's keep appearing one after another, though fortunately Super Saiyan Blue Goku from the altered Tournament of Power comes to their assistance to pay back the Time Patrol for their assistance during the Tournament of Power. Future Gohan is surprised to see his father's counterpart and wonders about his blue haired Super Saiyan form, but both decide its best to focus on defeating the Janembas for the time being. As father and son, Goku and Future Gohan fight together with near perfect coordination, even managing to pull off a Father-Son Kamehameha, which helps turn the tide in their favor.

Unfortunately, Fu reveals that they are currently in the Hell of Future Trunks' alternate timeline revealing that the Pikkon they are allied with is actually Future Pikkon, thus explaining Future Gohan's presence. Fu also reveals that the Janemba they have been fighting is an anomalous Future Janemba who according to him didn't exist in the original unaltered history, revealing that he is responsible for Future Janemba's creation. As a result, defeating Future Janemba and his clones doesn't actually fix things and Fu absorbs the altered timeline causing the Hell of the Future to start to disappear as he absorbs the altered timeline's energy. Fortunately, Future Trunks and the Conton City Hero escape through the time rift Fu uses the flee, though Goku, Future Gohan, and Future Pikkon's fate is left uncertain.

Classification: Alien

Species: Saiyan

Occupation: Farmer (This Goku has gone through the events of Super, where he is a farmer)

Height: 175 cm (Officially listed as 175 centimeters[1])

Though on both occasions he was wished back to life by the dragon balls)

Alignment: Chaotic Good (Goku, as per his nature as a Saiyan, seeks a good fight more than he seeks to preserve peace. Although he does value peace greatly and will fight for it, he has a knack for stretching out fights simply to make them more entertaining for himself despite the risks that come with it, such as when he allowed for Frieza to reach his final form, gave Cell a Senzu Bean, or refrained from using Super Saiyan 3 against Majin Vegeta)

Goku is an incredibly skilled fighter to the point that he is able to easily outskill trained Martial Artists such as Krillin and Yamcha and match prodigies such as Tien and even nearly beat his Master, Roshi, after training with him for a few months)

Powers and Techniques

Chi Manipulation & Ki Manipulation (All beings in Dragon Ball[12][13][14] have ki, the very life force energy of all characters[15], ki allows a fighter to extend beyond their bodies limits, allowing them to even[16] block attacks that would otherwise[17] kill them from[18] raising their guard[19], higher level users can lower their own durability to allow people far below them to fatally wound them[20]), Aura (Projection; A users ki aura can exert itself[21] as a weapon to attack[22]. Explosive; Ki users through powering up can form an entire aura around themself, radiating their immense power[23], where depending on their immense strength, can cause them to explode their aura outwards to remove excess ki from themself[24]. Mood Reflection; Goku and Piccolo Jr. with their auras and their stern concentration on each other reflected in their electric auras, even shooting electricity at each other[25]), Emotional Empowerment (It's noted that ki users can receive energy through one cheering them on[26]. Ki users can be greatly increased by their emotions and beliefs, Son Goku explains that Son Gohan needs to remember the time he fought Cell and bring out all of the power he has, this way he can lose to no one[27] where it's shown during the Cell beam clash that he was holding back greatly out of fear of destroying the earth but from being cheered on and using all of his power within him, he was able to overpower Cell[28]), Attack Reflection (All Ki users are able to reflect attacks just by being stronger than their opponent[29]. Examples include, Nappa deflecting a masenko from Son Gohan[30], Son Gohan being able to bounce back the spirit bomb[31], Son Goku deflecting a crusher ball from Jeice[32], Frieza deflecting a Final Burst Cannon from Vegeta[33], Son Goku reflecting multiple death beams back to back from Frieza[34], and Future Trunks being able to completely repel an energy blast with his hand from a Frieza Soldier just by being much stronger than them[35]), Homing Attack (Ki users can create attacks that will home in and chase a target forever[36]), Penetration Damage (Bladed Penetration; Ki users can conjure up a circle of chi that is sharp and can cut through enemies far more powerful then themselves[37][38], along with this they can conjure ki as a means to stab through an opponent[39]), Weapon Creation (Ki users can create energy weapons out of their attacks[40]), Power Absorption & Energy Transferal (Ki users can transfer their ki to others and absorb the ki given to them from others[41]), Attack Nullification (Ki Energy Based; Those with ki can nullify attacks of lesser ki with their ki alone[42][43]. They can also catch and nullify ki attacks around their level through focusing enough[44]), Power Nullification (Ki Energy Based; Through having greater ki, one can nullify the powers done through ki attacks, such as Frieza being able to nullify a hakai ball[45], which fully destroys a target[46], though he is unable to resist a hakai ball from Toppo due to him being stronger[47], this ability however only works on ki, attacks unrelated, characters cannot resist through being stronger, such as how Vegeta, Krillin, & Son Gohan are unable to resist Guldo's psychic powers[48], along with even the likes of Son Goku[49]), Forcefield Creation (Ki users such as Cell can generate forcefields around themselves[50]. These forcefields can be expanded[51], and used to protect others and defend against attacks far higher then the user[52]), Super Armor (Through releasing one's ki, they enter a state known as "Hyper Mode"[53], in this state they do not flinch from weak melee attacks[54]), Self-Destruction (Ki users in Dragon Ball are able to[55] release all of the energy within them[56] to cause a massive[57] self-destruction of energy that normally kills the user and turns them into dust[58] though one can control it to surviving but having no stamina or energy left[59]), Binding (Energy Binding; Ki Users can use their ki to bind targets to objects, making them unable to escape even if they're of equal power[60], however, those stronger than the ki user can easily break out of it[61]), Dreaming Existence (Characters in Shin Budokai have shown to create physical bodies in alternate timelines through dreaming[62]), Non-Standard Interaction (Intangible Interaction; Those with ki can block intangible attacks when they focus and notices them[63]. Space-Time Interaction (3+1-D); Characters can blast space-time distortions to close them[64]), Healing (Healing Singular Targets, Advanced Healing; Ki can be used to heal beings, allowing them to survive even with half their torso[65], it can also heal from near death[66]), Resurrection (Resurrection of the Deceased (Limited); Ki users can resurrect ones heart from death if their ki beams hit their heart, restarting it[67]. Resurrection from Exhaustion; Can heal downed allies to give them ki back, reviving them[68]), Intimidation & Spirit Manipulation (Ki is the manifestation of one’s lifeforce[69], along with the aura giving one the feeling of being crushed[70], exerting fear[71] into the target, sometimes making them incapable of moving as their[72] body is instinctively stuck due to the sheer difference in power[73]), Link Manipulation & Mind Manipulation (Characters can link their ki together and train within each other’s mind enacting in image training[74]), Vibration Manipulation (Seismic Vibration Manipulation; Ki users can transfer their ki into an object and cause it to vibrate and shake greatly[75]. Powerful ki users can cause the very ground itself to shake when they power up[76]), Electricity Manipulation (Unknown Voltage; Powerful Ki users can generate electricity around their aura that can outright electrocute their opponents[77], Goku and Piccolo Jr. showcased being able to utilize their aura as pure electricity during their clash[78]), Weather Manipulation (Powerful Ki users can generate entire storms through merely powering up alone, Nappa used this in order to conjure the electricity from the storm[79]. Goku showcases this when he first turns super saiyan, causing a massive lightning storm in the background[80]), Energy Manipulation (Ki is the latent power in one's body, this latent power allows them to form and create energy from controlling their ki, which can be used to shoot out energy blast[81]), Explosion Manipulation (Ki attacks can create massive explosions[82], or control the ki to set off a huge explosion under the enemy[83], or in front of them[84]), Heat Manipulation (At least 100 C; Ki user's ki attacks produce heat allowing them to cook and grill animals and raw meat[85][86], along with leaving behind steam after the attacks hit an area, showing its latent heat. Ki users electricity aura can burn objects that touch it[87]), Light Manipulation (Ki can be used as a flash of light[88][89][90][91][92][93][94][95][96], Degisu seeing ki attacks be fired notes that the characters are "firing light from their hands"[97]).
Limited Resistance to Durability Negation (Ki users can focus their energy to localize an object to a specific spot to stop them from attempting to destroy their organs/insides[98]), Resistance to Poison Manipulation (Can resist poisons through Forcefield Creation[99])

Equipment

Nothing notable.

Notable Techniques

  • Rock, Scissors 'N' Paper: A technique taught to Goku by Grandpa Gohan which employs one of three attack styles; either a closed-fist assault, a two-finger jabbing assault, or an open-palm thrust assault. It was Goku's signature attack early on during his childhood, soon afterwards being replaced with the Kamehameha.
  • Tail Attack: A technique used by those who have tail in order to attack their opponents. They can use it to whip or constrict the opponent. Goku uses this to break free from Tien Shinhan's Four Witches Technique.
  • Double Axe Hand: Goku cups his hands together and reels back, then slams his fists on the opponent.
  • Eight-Arm Fist: A physical technique that involves its user moving their arms fast enough that they seemingly have eight of them, allowing them to attack and defend themselves much more efficiently. Used to counter Tien Shinhan's Four Witches Technique.
  • Crazy Fist: A distraction technique used by Goku and designed to confuse and taunt the opponent. Pretending to be a wild uncontrollable dog or monkey, Goku catches his opponent off guard, and eventually knocks him out with a swift kick by jumping from behind. Goku uses this in reaction to Jackie Chun's Drunken Fist.
  • Tornado!: After calling the name of the attack, Goku spins while rushing on the opponent to attack him/her. Used against Nam.
  • Afterimage Technique: Goku creates perfect replica afterimages of himself to give the illusion of him still being in a location making it difficult for the opponent to actually harm his true self.
  • Mid-Air Stop: While falling to the ground, Goku exhales his breath like an explosive blast to stop his decent. Goku uses this technique against King Chappa in the 22nd World Martial Arts Tournament preliminaries.
  • Tail Helicopter: Goku swings his tail in a circle fast enough to hover and fly freely. Used only once, in his fight against Jackie Chun in the 21st World Martial Arts Tournament.
  • Agile Style: After his training under Kami, Goku could remove the Weighted portions Turtle School Uniform to increase his power level and agility due to being no longer incumbered by the heavy weights allowing him to utilize a more agile fighting style hence its name. Goku first used it during the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament and later when he confronted his brother Raditz alongside Piccolo. According to Raditz's Scouter, Goku's power level rose from 334 to 416 indicating the weight removal alone increased his power level by 82. This state was named in Dragon Ball Legends (albeit in relation to Piccolo & Pikkon's use of Agile Style) where it is the "base" form used by Goku (DBL22-01S) which represents Goku from the period during which he fought Raditz.
  • Dragonthrow: Goku grabs his opponent's arm, leg, tail, or antenna, then he spins and throws them away.
  • Meteor Combination: First, Goku charges at the opponent and elbows them away. Then, he attacks the opponent with a powerful barrage of kicks and punches, ending with a heavy punch to their stomach. When the opponent lays on the ground paralyzed, Goku jumps up in the air and fires a Super Kamehameha down at the opponent, inflicting a massive amount of damage.
  • Meteor Smash: Goku punches the opponent in the stomach. Then, he punches the opponent away and flies after them to right hook kick them in their face. Finally, Goku axe kicks the side of the opponent's head, knocking them away and inflicting a great deal of damage.
  • Bōjutsu: The art of wielding a staff which Goku utilizes when wielding his Power Pole. Goku learned it from the Power Pole's previous owner, his adoptive Grandpa Gohan. Goku's Bōjutsu skills are so great that he can use his Power Pole to deflect bullets as shown during his assault on Muscle Tower. Additionally, due to the Power Pole's mystical length changing properties, his attack range with the Power Pole is much greater than an average staff.
  • Kaoi-ken Finish: First, Goku charges at the opponent and kicks them up into the air. Then, he flies up after the opponent and double axe-handle punches them down to the ground. Next, he powers up to his Kaio-ken technique as he charges down at the opponent and double-punches them in their back. Finally, Goku quickly lands on the ground and catches the opponent on their back before throwing them onto the ground, inflicting a great deal of damage.
  • Kaoi-Ken Attack: Goku powers up to Kaio-ken x3 as he charges at the opponent and roundhouse kicks them up into the air. Then, he flies up in the air and punches the opponent away. Next, he flies up over the opponent and down behind to double kick them further up into the air. Finally, Goku flies up into the air around the opponent and hook kicks them down into the ground, inflicting a huge amount of damage.
  • Ki Blast: The most basic energy attack, Goku creates a small form of energy that he blasts at an opponent, usually he uses this to keep his distance from an enemy or to distract them so he can land another attack.
  • Kiai: A technique where Goku affects the air currents around him with ki to produce powerful shockwaves in order to strike the opponent at mid-range.
  • Kamehameha: Goku's signature move since obtaining it. It unleashes a powerful and long-stretching blue energy blast from his cupped hands. Goku first learns the move as a kid after witnessing Master Roshi using it. It can be charged to compete with practically any enemy attack. Since mastering this technique, Goku has continued to improve on it and develop new variations of it.
  • Spirit Bomb: Easily Goku's most powerful techniques and arguably the strongest in the series, it allows Goku to channel ki from all sources of life that he can detect and focus it all into a single energy ball. It was taught to him by King Kai during his training for the upcoming battle against Vegeta and Nappa. Over time, Goku continually learned to expand the range of which he could gather energy, thereby increasing both the size and power of the Spirit Bomb. He reserves this technique as a last-ditch effort for only the most powerful of foes.
  • Instant Transmission: Goku learns this technique on the Planet Yardrat after his battle with Frieza by learning Spirit Control - which also allowed him to sense ki from a much greater distance. This technique allows him to teleport to any location so long as he can find an energy source to home onto. However, it also greatly extends his ability to sense energy. Noticeably in Yo Son Goku, he seemingly improved on the technique as transports to the radish field without sensing anyone, possibly because he had accurate enough knowledge of where it is.
  • Solar Flare: Goku places his hands close to the center of his face with the fingers spread toward his eyes. He then calls out the name of the technique, which provokes a white light to fire out and blind everything watching except him, since he is projecting the light.

Other

Standard Tactics: Goku is a trained and gifted martial artists who has always kept the same tactics when entering battle. Goku will size up his opponent to see where their strengths and weaknesses lay, see how strong they are, and dish out various martial arts attacks and techniques to overwhelm his opponent. Goku will never immedieatly go all out from the start unless he fully needs to and will usually start with warm ups.
