Introduction

Status is referring to a character's current state of being. Normally in fiction after during a certain point in a story a character will reach an event that will change their status, sometimes they will be killed, sealed away, sent into another universe, etcetera. Each character will fall under one of the five statuses: Alive, Deceased, Undead, Other, or Unknown.

Alive

Characters who are shown or stated to be alive and well. These may be characters who never died, or characters who died before, but were resurrected through any means. Robots/Machines, Species, and Teams/Factions that fall under this category are listed as Active.

Examples: Mario (Super Mario Bros.), Rushuna Tendo and Yajirou Kojima (Grenadier)

Deceased

A memorial of Pops, who sacrificed his life for the sake of the universe.

Characters who are dead. This also applies to characters who are erased from existence, or a similar manner of "death". Robots/Machines that fall under this category are Destroyed, unless they are still intact in one piece but are merely shut down, then they would be Inactive. Teams/Factions that fall under this category are Disbanded, even if some former members are still alive. Species that fall under this category are Extinct.

Examples: Lavos (Chrono Trigger), Giygas (MOTHER 2)

Undead

Til Death Do You Part...

Characters who are "zombies", or similar creatures who are dead but act alive. It is a revived corpse, technically dead but still animate. Alternatively, these can be spirits or ghosts who's bodies passed away but still live on as a spirt/ghost.

Examples: Tricky the Clown (Madness Combat), Rottytops (Shantae)

Other

The Major describing Alucard's paradoxical existence

Characters who aren't alive or dead necessarily, being in a state of limbo, being paradoxically alive and dead, etcetera. Alternatively, these are characters who are defeated, but can't be really called "alive" or "dead", such as being turned into a non-sentient object, being sealed away, or being sent to another universe as examples.

Examples: Alucard (Hellsing Manga), Ganondorf (The Legend of Zelda)

Unknown

A missing poster, where the subject's current whereabouts and status are unknown
A missing poster, where the subject's current whereabouts and status are unknown

Character's statuses who are left ambiguous. It is unknown and up to speculation whether these characters are alive or dead.

Examples: Crono (Chrono Trigger)
