Demon or human, all of thee are naught but my creations. Thy blades canst not even scratch me. Feel the wrath of my divine lightning, and plummet into the bowels of hell, burning in its unending flames! Demons! Evil humans, who hath sold thy souls to demons!

~ YHVH in SMT II

Turn back, those who defy the will of God. You walk along the path to destruction. Only eternal suffering lies ahead, for you. You come here seduced by the words of a demon. I know all that's befallen you thus far. Go back now, and I shall show you mercy and forgive your trespasses. You cannot possibly comprehend my nature. All things exist because I do. To destroy me would be to destroy your world. You, who were once nothing more than dust, I offer you one final opportunity to turn back. So. You've come. Poor, poor son of man, led astray by demonkind. I am YHVH... I am that I am! I am Infinity. The Supreme Being. The embodiment of Law and order. You disturb my realm, trample my design? Worse still, you vilify me... I cannot allow this.

How could you diminish me to such a state. Impudent humans... I cannot forgive you... I asked only that you take the life I granted you and obediently follow my word. The weight of your blasphemy is too great for death. Eternal suffering is the only suitable punishment.

How could mere humans surpass gods and destroy even me, your Creator? No, this is not the end. You only led yourself further astray. Humans are weak. You cannot live without my law, my order. You need something to believe in. But now, you've debased my truths, and so I shall slip from the minds of humans. Humanity will inevitably lose its way and long for salvation. Then you shall regret this decision...

Background
YHVH, also known as Yehowah or Yahweh, is an important figure in the Megami Tensei series. He is often seen as a firm and lawful, if not ruthless, figure who holds little empathy towards humanity.
This dropdown contains the synopsis of YHVH’s story. Read at your own risk as you may be spoiled otherwise!

YHVH, also referred to as God, is the one deity of Abrahamic faiths, common to Judaism, Christianity, Islam and many other religious denominations. Some consider the Zoroastrian god Ahura Mazda and the Egyptian god Aten to be the same figure or to have served as an inspiration for it.
He is often conceived as a genderless, omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent deity, an uncreated creator who created the universe out of nothingness, who is also responsible for the creation of angels, humans and all living and spiritual beings, among them creatures such as the jinn.
His deeds change throughout the many religions that worship him, however, the three main monotheist religions (Judaism, Christianity and Islam) tend to portray similar events, such as Adam and Eve's banishment from Eden and the covenant made by God with Abraham and the people of Israel, they differ, however, in their view on important figures such as Jesus Christ and the prophet Muhammad.
Christians conceive God as an entity of pure good. According to Trinitarian traditions, He is composed of three different identities that are, at the same time, one and the same: God the father, God the son and the holy spirit. This is known as the Holy Trinity, with Jesus Christ the messiah being the son. Christians await the return of Jesus Christ and Judgement Day, when the devil will be defeated and the Millennium Kingdom of God will come to Earth. Other figures are Maria, "Mother of God," the woman who chose to bear Jesus and ascended to Heaven, and the four archangels Michael, Gabriel, Raphael and Uriel, and Lucifer as a fallen angel rebelling against God with his army of demons. Judaism and Islam differ in that they conceive God as a singular identity, rejecting the concept of the Trinity, but they agree about the existence of demons and an angelic hierarchy.
Some later interpretations, especially the one from Gnostic Christianity, differ in many ways from the view of God the father as a benevolent entity; instead, they portray him as a Demiurge, a false god who wants to control humanity, an enemy to the true God. The gnostic interpretation of God is heavily influenced by Greek philosophy and a partial reading of the Old Testament, and was thus rejected by the ascending Christian Church.
YHVH is the most common transliteration of the Hebrew name of God. The name itself is a reference to the Tetragrammaton, which represents the four letters of the name of God: Yod, Heh, Vav, Heh (or simply "YHVH"). Each of the letters corresponds to a world and a soul and stands for the four basic stages of the process of creation. The name is derived from the Hebrew word "יהיה" ("to be"), modified into a variant form with a masculine prefix. Its meaning and implications have been a source of contemplation and debate for thousands of years, which still continues today. By Hebrew tradition, it is not to be pronounced aloud, and is typically substituted with "Adonai" ("my Lord") in prayers. In speech, Hashem ("the name") is used in its place.

Which would include planes such as Akarana Corridor a void that transcends time and space, with it requiring a special ritual to enter, where even the Herald of Yatagarasu cannot put Raidou into this place[12], putting it beyond even The Expanse a place that transcends the past, present, and future of the multiverse[13]. Range: At least Complex Multiversal (YHVH's own universe is more vague and more infinite then anything Nanashi or Flynn have ever seen[17], where they've seen demons such as Ouroboros, who is the embodiment of infinity[18], putting it at least beyond ℵ1 in size. Intelligence: Omniscient (YHVH's presence is felt everywhere throughout the world as he is all-knowing, every emotion, concept, and feeling he is there to witness and exists in, noting he's with them every step of the way. YHVH has Demon Physiology which gives:
Superhuman Physical Characteristics (Demons can casually rip out a man's throat. They can also casually eat fully grown humans), Sheer Will (Demons are able to survive and withstand attacks that should kill them), Immortality (Ageless; Demons are the descendants of the gods of old. Who are able to do battle for an eternity. Reliance [On Concept (Infinity)]; Ouroboros the embodiment of infinity notes that unlike humans who are finite, demons have infinite and endless powers, allowing them to resurrect back infinitely no matter when due to not being made of finite matter. Reliance [On Concept (Observation)]; All demons are reliant on the observation of humans to keep them existing, including even nonexistent demons such as The White, allowing them to come back even if they’re erased from existence and nonexistence), Reincarnation (Reincarnation Cycle, Standard; Along with this, all demons that die return to The Axiom and reincarnate), Undead Physiology ( Many demons tend to be undead beings and humans that die and become ghost become demons), Abstract Existence (Type 1; Demons embody the phenomena and beliefs of humans, with their physical forms only being created due to humanity's observation locking them into these forms, and their true forms existing as the phenomena and beliefs they reside in), Dimensionless Existence (Non-Dimensional; Demons only have "forms" due to the observation of humanity with even some demons being in the lowest form of humanity's observation making them unseeable without help, the "true forms" of demons are in truth without the concept of form, without observation they are not certain nor stable, are a phenomena without an answer and are unbound by concepts such as truth completely unshaped by reality. Demons under their observation forms embody concepts such as infinity which they are free from in their true forms), Timeless Physiology (Demons are natural residents of The Expanse, a place that transcends the past, present, and future of the multiverse. Due to this, they do not apply by the speed formula and can appear anywhere they want in most cases), Personal Nonexistence (Ayin Physioloy; The home of the demons is the expanse, which the Monochrome Forest exists within the expanse, a place that is eerily still, having no sound or smell, where even the ground itself feels unusual, which demons naturally exist in. The Forest also holds the White’s realm, which is a vast, white space), Incorporeality (Demons are beings made of data, that exist in a virtual world, along with being pure information. With even the most basic of objects in the verse existing as data. Even if a demon's physical form is lost, their residual MAG can still remain, allowing one to infuse them within one's weapons or objects), Nondualism (Everything within Megami Tensei is one, with one simple word binding all together, oneness), Resurrection (Self-Resurrection; Atemporal Resurrection; All demons are reliant on the observation of humans to keep them existing, including even nonexistent demons such as The White, allowing them to come back even if they’re erased from existence and nonexistence. Along with this, all demons that die return to The Axiom and reincarnate. This allows demons to die and come back in a short timeframe due to their continuous existence from The Axiom and the observation of humans. This means even if all of reality were to cease existing, The Axiom would still exist within it, allowing demons to come back), Acausality (Causality Immunity; Demons are natural residents of The Expanse, a place that transcends the past, present, and future of the multiverse, demons such as Ishtar are capable of going into separate multiverses, along into the "real world", demons such as Demi-fiend, can exist in different universes asides from the original SMT 3 universe, demons can exist even when the flow of time itself collapses and there is nothing left but a void), Paradox Existence (Out of Universe and In the Universe; Demons are a race of entities and are at the same time the same entity sharing all one collective hive mind of memories, species will note if they've been captured before even if they're being fought in an area one's never been to or were fused prior, demons such as Forneus and Decarabia talk about an event that happened in Nocturne where Forneus was late to a meeting due to his death from Demi-fiend), Self-Sustenance (Respiratory Self-Sustenance, Nutritional Self-Sustenance, & Restful Self-Sustenance; Demons can naturally exist and breathe within the vacuum of space without any adverse effects done to them.[21] Due to their innate physiologies, demons naturally do not need to breathe, eat, or sleep.[22]), Accelerated Development (Level;Physical Stats and Abilities. Demons and Humans are able to grow from battles, allowing them to enhance their level of strength, magic, agility, luck, etcetera. Additionally, they can learn new skills and abilities from battles and further increase their HP and Magic capacity, and get strong enough to the point that they can fight end game tier demons), Adaptation (Demons as they grow in battle form changes around their body until they transform into a higher level with newer stats and newer abilities to learn), Berserk Mode (Demons enter a state of pure rage and berserk mode during the full moon, being completely irrational and unable to be negotiated with), Precognition (Destiny Perception; Demons have the ability to see into the future, with the likes of Eligor being able to see things to come), Extrasensory Perception (Demons are able to tell who is actually a demon in disguise and who is an actual human. Demons can sense the power of an opponent and compare it to the power they sensed of others.[23]), Corrosion Inducement (Demons can shapeshift into a blob, allowing them to melt areas, completely dissolve objects such as steel chairs, and completely crush humans.[24][25][26]), Duplication (Demons can make duplicates of themselves. With them being completely disconnected from the demons, thus killing or defeating the clones in no way affects the original and they can endlessly spawn more), Invisibility & Perception Manipulation (Demons are naturally invisible to humans, and can do actions such as make noises and fight without humans noticing), Quantum Manipulation & Intangibility (Spatial. Demons passively create adecoherence field, that is essentially a special dimension of quantum fluctuation that they exist in, where humans cannot see them), Non-Standard Interaction (Demons can interact with each other and Gods, despite their physiologies and existences), Hell Manipulation (Demons naturally use evil powers from hell), Sealing (Gods and Demons cannot kill each other, thus resulting in them needing to seal each other), Metaphysics Manipulation (Soul Manipulation; Noted by a soul that demons can eat souls), Empathic Manipulation (Women cannot resist the allure of demons, even if they despised a demon normally, they'd fall mdaly in love with them if they had sex with a demon even once[27]), Size Manipulation & Statistics Amplification (Demons can grow in size to grow strong enough to fight Messiahs), Technology Manipulation (Demons can stop technology from working with their evil powers), Shapeshifting (Demons can shapeshift into humans to trick others), Hacking (Demons can hack into various servers and set up firewalls and "digital traps"), Necromancy (Demons can raise people from the dead and turn them into zombies), Personal Domain & BFR (Demons can pull one into alternate dimensions where coordinates and direction are different. Along with pull entire areas such as mansions into pocket dimensions. High level demons such as fiends can create personal realms to battle people in. Alice created her own personal domain that she could freely control. Demons can also freely teleport people to other locations), Pocket Reality Manipulation (Demons can warp areas into alternate dimensions such as the inside of a school. Once one is in said dimension the demon will keep it's hold into the dimension until it's defeated), Subjective Reality (Demons are able to take the thoughts of people and materialize them into something real), Information Manipulation & Matter Manipulation (Can absorb and consume mangetite, which is an information construct. As demons can make pocket realms and higher level demons can make universes, they are by extension they are creating areas entirely made of data and information down to their sub-atomic level. As demons can make pocket realms and higher level demons can make universes, they are by extension they are creating areas entirely made of data and information down to their sub-atomic level), Illusion Creation ("Real" Illusions) & Perception Manipulation (Demons can create mirage realms, that shroud an entire area in mist, with them being able to attack from inside said illusion without being capable of being attacked back, requiring the user to go inside of their illusion to fight them), Velocity Manipulation (When attacks are nullified or avoided, the enemy will forcibly forfeit their turn to move, allowing one to attack sooner, this extends further with absorbing attacks completely ending an opponents turn regardless of how fast they are), Teleportation (Demons are capable of teleporting around usually through manipulating their own Magutushi or Magnetite), Telepathy (Demons are able to speak telepathically to others.[28][29] Demons such as Aogami speaks telepathically with Nahobino), Power Bestowal (The memories of a demon's techniques can be passed down into weapons), Absorption (Demons can absorb lifeforce and Magutushi out of another. Demons can feed off the lifeforce of people to manifest themselves into the real world. Demons have the innate ability to absorb the air and earth into their bodies[30]), Healing Negation (Demons can inflict wounds that only spiritual magic can heal), Power Absorption (Demons can absorb the remains of other demons to gain their abilities), Consumption (Demons can consume and devour their enemies to gain power in battle), Dimensional Travel (Demons can feed off the lifeforce of people to manifest themselves into the real world), Healing (Demons naturally have healing properties, allowing them to heal other people. Demons have shown to heal wounds they create and "seal them away"[31]), Telekinesis (Higher level demons can telekinetically affect the entire environment to cause the Earth to shake, cause fissures, and affect mountains[32]), Erasure (Existence Erasure, Conceptual Erasure, & Data Erasure; Demons can kill humans, which in the process erases said beings from memory and existence), Pierce Resistance (Pierce Immunity; Demons even when brought into corporeal forms cannot be harmed by conventional weaponry, along with military grade weaponry.[33]), Invulnerability (Metaphysical Invulnerability; Demons even when brought into corporeal forms cannot be harmed by conventional weaponry, along with military grade weaponry.[34]), Invulnerability Negation (Demons are capable of harming each other, and are viewed as valuable tools to get past other demons invulnerability), Possession (Demons can possess one’s body), Creation (Demons can create Shikimi no Kage's that are unable to be put down for good and will regenerate), Resistance Negation (Shikimi no Kage have specific weaknesses that cannot be exploited by Raidou's gun or other things to do with their specific elemental weakness, requiring Raidou to get a demon's elemental magic to affect it), Regeneration Negation (Unknown; Demons can fully destroy Shikimi no Kage's, that they've created that are unable to be put down for good and will regenerate), Forcefield Negation (Demons can destroy barriers made to block out humans from entry).
Limited Resistance to Observation (Demons to an extent can resist some humans abilities of observation as shown with them being immune to conventional weaponry[35] and higher-dimensional demons not being able to be perceived by some observation users), Resistance to Cosmic Radiations, Biological Manipulation, & Gravity Manipulation (Demons can naturally exist and breathe within the vacuum of space without any adverse effects done to them.[36]), Death Manipulation (Demons can naturally exist within the vortex world which kills all humans who enter), Disease Manipulation, Corruption, Data Manipulation, & Petrification (All demons are unaffected by the Cuvier Syndrome, a state where corruptive data came out of the black sun, irreversible petrification), Sealing (Demons naturally have a resistance to sealing if they’re stronger then their target, and their sealing resistance gets amplified during the full moon), Forcefield Creation (Demons can pass through tainted barriers that humans cannot pass through), Elemental Manipulation (Shikimi no Kage have specific weaknesses that cannot be exploited by Raidou's gun or other things to do with their specific elemental weakness, requiring Raidou to get a demon's elemental magic to affect it)
Power Bestowal (Demons can grant others their powers and strength), Reality Warping, Space-Time Manipulation & Creation (All powerful and god level demons sustain a colloidal conglomeration of countless mini-universes, each centered around a powerful demon that is sustained by said demon and destroyed upon their death.[37] Demons such as Morax have created and ruled over their own realms within the Schwarzwelt, and controlled their own sectors, being noted to be the energy source the Strange Journey team were looking for, said energy source is noted to control the entire sector, and be linked to the sector like a magnet. Each sector is a space-time plane layered atop each other, being planes outside of the human worlds local space-time existing in a quantum tunnel, along with being noted as parallel universes and other dimensions overlapping being isolated in time and space by enormous power being connected by quantum tunnels. Demons such as Set with enough Magnetite gathered can merge entire worlds.[38]), Immortality (Life and Death Immunity; Higher tiered demons exist beyond death itself), Sheer Will, Resurrection, & Transformation (Permanent Transformation; Some fiends are born from men that die in competitive sports), Curse Manipulation (Gods such as Anahita can remove curses).
Resistance to Physics Manipulation (A god's divine energy isn’t bound by the laws of physics)Higher-Dimensional Existence (God Tier demons are higher dimensional beings that cannot be perceived by lower one's Burroughs, requiring them to come down into the lower dimensions for the character to perceive them), Madness Manipulation (God Tier Demons such as Kagutsuchi's light can cause demons to grow more hostile towards others, making it impossible for negotiation and to escape from them. They'll also calm down once a New Phase passes).
Resistance to Erasure (Conceptual Erasure; The strongest and highest level demons can survive Kagutsuchi's light, which can wipe one from existence) Large Size (Multiversal; YHVH's presence is felt everywhere throughout the world, every emotion, concept, and feeling he is there to witness and exists in, noting he's with them every step of the way. Notes that he is existence himself), Omniscience, Freedom of Manifestation (YHVH is a rogue avatar of The Axiom, who tasks Messiahs with killing YHVH due to this), Aura (Noted to have an angelic aura), Transcendence (YHVH is a being who created infinite universes, and exists beyond the very boundaries of time within the multiverse, The multiverse and his manifestation head are infinitesimal in size compared to him, and he exists as an incomprehensible transcendent being overseeing everything in his creation. His universe is a place beyond reality that is more vague and more infinite then anything the cast has seen before which includes areas such as the expanse and Akrana Corridor, and his single manifestation head), Omnipresence (Aspatiotemporal Omnipresence; YHVH's presence is felt everywhere throughout the world, every emotion, concept, and feeling he is there to witness and exists in, noting he's with them every step of the way. Notes that he is existence himself), Reality Seperation (Reality Separation; YHVH exists outside of reality within his own realm), Universal Creation (Regarded as the creator of all infinite universes), Immortality (Reliance [On Concept]; His single manifestation heads are a single part of his true self that controls the entire cosmos. His song can negate Mem Aleph into a physical form. Even attempting to say his name will cause a static-like sound as his mere name cannot truly be heard or comprehended. Robbed all other Gods of their knowledge, debasing them into their infinitely weaker states), Transmutation (Dethroned all of the world's old gods, transforming them into demons), Erasure (Conceptual Erasure), Information Manipulation, & Conceptual Manipulation (The song of the lord negates a demons existence, and returns them back to their pure natural state. Robbed the other gods of their knowledge, debasing them into their infinitely weaker states), Fusionism (Forcibly fused Ashtar and Ishtar in response to his followers turning from his wrath to Ishtar's kindness), Severing (Sundered apart Beelzebub and Bael from each other, putting them in far weaker forms and removing their godhoods), Infinity Manipulation (YHVH embodies and manipulates the concept of infinity), Plot Manipulation (Story Manipulation; Author Authority; As YHVH created and embodies everything, he also created and embodied the Akarana Corridor a void that transcends time and space that controls the fundamental narrative structure of the multiverse, deciding what's "canon" and what's "retconned", with events from SMT 1 & 2 being included), Law Manipulation & Order Manipulation (YHVH is the embodiment of and can manipulate the concept of law and order), Truth Manipulation (Controls truths, and forces all to follow them, is the creator of all truths within the multiverse), Personal Domain & Higher-Dimensional Manipulation (Has a personal realm which is his own universe, which contains brane layers with each layer being linked to a higher dimension, reaching another plane of his universe), Mimicry (Physiology Mimicry) & Illusion Creation ("Real" Illusions; YHVH creates illusionary copies of previous bosses and can recreate anyone they've fought), Creation (Is the creator of the universe, can create an infinte amount of Metatron's as he pleases), Fate Manipulation (YHVH is the guidance of all mankind, guiding them through their destiny), Power Bestowal (The likes of Metatron and Satan are under YHVH's protection), Velocity Manipulation (YHVH always strikes first at the beginning of battle regardless of the protagonists speed), Statistics Amplification (With Luster Candy, amplifies all stats. The Conception is set in motion by Hikawa, who strives to create a world of perfect stillness. After being set in motion, everyone outside of the hospital is killed instantly and turned into Magatsuhi or souls. Tokyo is uprooted and twisted into a spherical world known as Vortex World. His power shapes and defines the laws of reality within a given universe and can remake them in the image of a specific philosophy should he so desire), Holy Manipulation (Is an avatar of YHVH), Chaos Manipulation & Summoning (Through the Conception, it spread chaos throughout the world and summoned demons as a result. There are many high leveled demons encounter in the Tower of Kagutsuchi), Curse Manipulation (Cursed the Demi-fiend for all eternity, making it so that he can longer be killed or remain alive in the world he inhabits), Fate Manipulation & Empowerment (Selected a few to survive the conception, a multiversal nuke, among these being Demi-fiend of which Kagutsuchi guides and allows him to survive circumstances that would have ended his journey or put a hinderance on. Stated to be destiny and the truth. Capable of empowering those who hold a reason, including Gods fused with humans, to contend with Demi-fiend), Limited Probability Manipulation & Statistics Amplification (Kagutsuchi's phases affect the probability of obtaining item of higher value from any mystic treasure chest. Full phase guarantees rarer item, while new phase does the exact opposite. Slight modifier of all damage dealt in battle, the fuller the higher, and vice versa. Activator of skills such as Bright Might, Dark Might, and Dark Pledge. Several puzzles and locations in the game require the use of the Kagutsuchi phase, as well), Telepathy (Able to read what's inside people's heart), Causality Manipulation (Erased the Sangai, the past, present and future of the universe, in order to construct the Vortex World in its foundations, while keeping select few lifeforms of his choosing alive even under those conditions), Erasure (Conceptual Erasure; Threatened to wipe Demi-fiend out of existence with his light), Resurrection (Able to bring back everyone that previously died back to life in the Freedom ending), Transformation (After taking hits in his first phase, he will transition to his second phase), Abstract Existence (Type 1) and Incorporeality (Exist as the source to creation. They'll also calm down once a New Phase passes), Cosmic Awareness (Oversees all of creation), Immortality (Extra Replacements; Has infinite versions of himself that share the same consciousness), Nondualism (The reason of Shijima reloves around creating a world of stillness and oneness. It is a world of perfect harmony, without self, without passion, without conflict, without destruction. Individuality is eradicated and there is simply a collective inner peace in which everyone is equal to God. This collective functions as cogs in the giant, stable machine that is the universe), Acausality (Causality Immunity; Demons, despite being created by observation, existed prior to creation and are unbounded by it as they are not affected by the destruction of the Multiverse. Furthermore, they exist in the Expanse, a higher plane of existence that transcends past, present, and future with demons such as Ishtar being able to exist outside of both realities of SMT and Persona), Fusionism (Merged the Demon World and the Divine World into the remnants of the human realm to create the Vortex World), Illusion Negation (During one of Kagutsuchi's phase, it'll expose Ongyo-Ki from his illusions during his boss fight), Invulnerability Negation (Can harm demons, which are naturally invulnerable to conventional attacks), Resistance Manipulation (Can erase demons from existence once they are defeated in battle, which already naturally resist these effects), Magic & Elemental Manipulation which includes Fire Manipulation (via Maragidyne, which deals heavy fire damage to all foes), Ice Manipulation (via Mabufudyne, which deals heavy ice damage to all foes with a 15% chance to freeze all foes), Electricity Manipulation (via Maziodyne, which deals heavy electric damage with a 15% chance to shock all foes), Air Manipulation (via Mazandyne. Which deals heavy Almighty damage to all foes by producing a large explosion. Almighty damage is done to all foes by producing a large explosion. Modes such as Berserk Mode from Digital Devil Saga 2 gives all of their attacks almighty effect, where it bypasses all resistances.Almighty skills bypasses all barriers and reflectors, invulnerability, and resistances, as putting up barriers to reflect, void, resist, etcetera do not affect almighty attacks. Almighty attacks can even work in and affect reason bearers, who can change the very laws of battle to make attacks not allowed in reality which if they are done then the character is sent straight to hell, showing almighty attacks are beyond even the laws of the universe. Infinite Light and Vast Light are almighty attacks that cannot be dodged), Purification (via Dekunda, which removes all debuffs from all allies), Stat Nullification (via Dekaja, which removes all stat buffs on all foes), Time Manipulation (via Phase Shift, which shifts Kagutsuchi phase forward by 2 instantly), Evasion Negation & Light Manipulation (via Vast light and Infinte light. Resistances: Immunity to Light Manipulation, Death Manipulation, and Status Effect Inducement which includes Poison Manipulation, Ice Manipulation, Fire Manipulation, Electricity Manipulation, Paralysis, Sleep Manipulation, Confusion, Empathic Manipulation (Resists Rage and Charm), Stone, and Power Nullification/Sealing (Resists being Silenced), Mind Manipulation, Metaphysics Manipulation (Soul Manipulation), Conceptual Manipulation, Information Manipulation, and Erasure (Conceptual Erasure) (Capable of doing battle with demons just fine)
- Angel: Angels are divine celestial beings that have been recorded in various religious lore, mainly Abrahamic, who faithfully serve God. The term "angel" comes from the greek word "angelos" meaning "messenger," as a translation of their name in hebrew "Malach," this term is used both to refer to the lowest rank of angels and the heavenly host as a whole. Angel, however, is not their name as a species, but rather a description of their task, as angels are best described as "spirits." The origin of angels is up to debate, but some suggest that they were created on the second day of creation by God from either fire or light as a manifestation of his boundless love.
- Archangels: The archangels are among the eighth sphere, making them second in the third hierarchy in the nine orders of angels in Christian teachings. Archangels are one of the few bodies of angels that contact those on the material plane directly and are the ministers and messengers between God and mankind. There is a dispute on whether famous archangels such as Michael and Gabriel are the same class as the "plain" archangels, who in the Kabbalah and in the Bible are called "Beni Elohim" (meaning "children of God"), or belong to a completely different order known as "Rav-Malakhim" or "Malakhim-Panav," who are the angels that stand before the lord himself.
- Principality: Principalities, also known as Rulers, are angels of the Third Sphere in Christian angelology with the duty to carry out the orders given to them by the dominions and bequeath blessings to the material world. The principalities preside over bands of angels and charge them with fulfilling the divine ministry. Their task is to oversee groups of people. They are usually controlled by the chief angel Erebiel.
- Power: Powers, also known as Authorities, are the sixth of the nine orders of angel. It is said that they were the first order to be created. The powers are the bearers of conscience and the keepers of history. Their duty is to oversee the distribution of power among humankind, hence their name. They are academically driven and are concerned with ideology, philosophy, theology, religion and documents pertaining to those studies. Powers are the brain trusts; a group of experts who serve as advisers and policy planners. They are also the warrior angels created to be completely loyal to God. Some believe that no power has ever fallen from grace, but another theory states that Satan was the chief of the powers before he fell. In Asian regions, their title translates to "Angel of Capability".
- Dominion: In the Christian hierarchy of Angels, Dominions, also known as Lordships, are part of the second sphere and are said to watch over nations and regulate the duties of lesser angels. In Moses Maimonides' hierarchy of angels, according to Jewish lore, they are Hashmallim (the fourth rank of angels) and are mentioned briefly in the Hebrew version of the Book of Ezekiel.
- Throne: The Thrones, also known as the Elders, are the third of the First Sphere of angels in Christian angelology. They are known as the angels of knowledge, and has also been compared with Erelim, Galgalim and Ophanim. They are living symbols of God's justice and authority. They come the closest of all angels to spiritual perfection and emanate the light of God with mirror-like goodness. They, despite their greatness, are intensely humble, an attribute that allows them to dispense justice with perfect objectivity and without fear of pride or ambition.
- Kagustsuchi: Kagutsuchi, also known as Hinokagutsuchi and Homusubi, is the Japanese god of fire, son of Izanagi and Izanami. His mother was so badly burned when she gave birth to him that she died. Izanagi cut his son in eight pieces and from the body eight mountain gods emerged and from the blood came forth eight gods. Kagutsuchi is an alternate name of Ho-Musubi.
- Abdiel: Abdiel is a biblical name used by several fictional and real people. Nevertheless, Abdiel is better known for being a Seraph in John Milton's Paradise Lost. In this novel, he is the one that denounces Satan or Lucifer for the revolt against God and abandons him to tell God about his defection. However, when he arrives, he realizes that preparations were already underway for battle. In the fight, he smites Satan, Ariel, Ramiel and Arioch, among others.
- Gabriel: Gabriel is a high-ranking messenger angel and true archangel in the Abrahamic trio of religions (which encompasses Christianity, Judaism and Islam. Their name means "God is my strength" and is known to be the left hand of God and the embodiment of the holy spirit, in contrast to Michael who is the right hand of God. To Christians, Gabriel's primary task is that of a messenger who told Elizabeth that she would bear John the Baptist and Mary that she would bear Jesus, meaning they are remembered each Christmas/Advent as the messenger of the Annunciation or Immaculate Conception (it was also Gabriel who asked Mary to name her son Jesus, meaning "savior.") They are also mentioned as announcing the prophecy of seventy weeks to Daniel and is also recognized as St. Gabriel, the patron saint of communications workers. For Muslims, Gabriel is especially noted for revealing the Qur'an to Muhammad and for being the messenger that tells prophets of their obligations. In Islam, Gabriel is the highest-ranking angel, while Raphael is the second. They are also called the holy spirit in Islam.
- Uriel: In Abrahamic religion, Uriel was a high ranking archangel or seraph who was listed as the fourth angel that represented the four cardinal points, the others being Michael, Gabriel and Raphael. People sometimes ask for Uriel’s help to: seek God’s will before making decisions, come up with fresh creative ideas, learn new information, solve problems, resolve conflicts, let go of destructive emotions such as anxiety and anger that can prevent them from discerning wisdom, and recognize dangerous situations so they can try to avoid them.
- Michael: Michael, also known as Mikail in Islam, is an archangel, one of the principal 50 angels in Christian lore, and one of the four main archangels of Abrahamic tradition. In Christianity, he is viewed as the field commander of the Army of God and led it in the war against the devil and the fallen angels. He is also a saint and thus carries the title "St. Michael The Archangel." He is mentioned by name in the Book of Daniel and the Book of Revelations. In the book of Daniel, Michael appears as "one of the chief princes" who in Daniel's vision comes to the angel Gabriel's aid in their contest with the angel of Persia, and is also described there as the advocate of Israel and "great prince who stands up for the children of your people." Michael's status in the army of Heaven is seen as a Viceroy or an Archistrage as well, but he's mostly seen as the commander of Heaven's army.
- Raphael: Raphael, or Raphaela, is one of the four main seraphim or archangels of God within the hierarchy of angels from Christian and Islamic mythology, His name means "It is God that heals." Not all branches of these religions consider the identification of Raphael to be canonical.
- Sandalphon: Sandalphon is an archangel or seraphim that is prominently featured in Jewish mysticism, such as the Kabbalah where he resides in the Sephirot of Malkuth alongside his "twin brother" Metatron. Sandalphon is described as the "dark angel" as opposed to his twin brother Metatron whom is regarded as the bright angel.
- Metatron: Metatron (who is sometimes theorized to originally be Enoch, father of Methuselah and great-grandfather of Noah) is the voice of God. Whenever a human believes God has directly spoken to them, in reality it is Metatron acting as his vessel. One million eyes and mouths cover his body, and every mouth speaks a different language. He is the being who is the nearest in hierarchy to that of God. He is said to have the largest body among all of the angels, having 36 wings, 3 representing the triumvirate of the father (God), the son (Jesus Christ) and the holy ghost, multiplied by the 12 tribes of Israel (God's chosen people). In ancient Judaism, his status is even higher than that of the Archangel Michael. He received various titles such as "Face of God," "Angel of Contracts" synonymous with the Iranian God Mithra, "King of Angels" and others of the like. His name literally means "He who sits behind the throne of Heaven." Metatron is also said to be the twin brother of the archangel Sandalphon. Although Metatron isn't an official angel according to the ecumenical teachings of modern Christendom (nor does he appear in any of the Old or New Testament books and letters of the Bible), his celebrity is certainly not without consequence. As put forth in several of the ancient Enochian texts (especially the Slavonic Secrets of Enoch text 2, one of many deuterocanonicals attributed to Enoch), Metatron takes on the heavenly role as God's mediator with all mankind. Some of said texts even go so far as to assert that Metatron is actually the holy ghost of Christianity (see 2 Enoch and 3 Enoch). As such, particularly to the Gnostics in upper Mesopotamia via the "Nag Hammadi" transcripts, Metatron is portrayed to be the most mysterious, as well as the highest, in the order of the heavenly host.

- God's Lament: Clarion summons down dozens of meteors from the sky to attack.
- God's Wrath: A massive meteor that during the story of Lone Marebito would've destroyed the entire capital if it hit.
- MAG Absorbption: Clarion's absorbs all the MAG around him, making everything become one with him.
Other
Standard Tactics: YHVH will use a variety of different moves, to even reach him requires entering his realm and going past the different brane layers of his realm. Along the way he will send past enemies you've faced and his own legion of angels, if one finally reaches him he will use almighty attacks along with piercing effect elemental attacks, he starts the fight by buffing himself and debuffing the entire party.
Weaknesses: Potent observation users can deny his truths and beliefs, granting the entirety of humanity to no longer believe in him will reduce him to a weaker state where he can die (note that this is an in-universe ability and thus very hard to say how this would work from someone out of verse).
Trivia
- The vision of God the father in Christianity, and Catholicism in particular, seems to be the main source of inspiration for the Megami Tensei version of YHVH, however with a remarkably negative point of view. Moreover, the character may represent the worst aspects of Abrahamic religions, which could explain YHVH's negative characteriztion in games such as Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse.
- In Kyūyaku Megami Tensei, the ritual circle in the Cathedral of Shadows has a Star of David with "TE," "TRA," "GRA," "MA" and "TON" in 5 of its points. It also has the letters α and Ω.
- In Shin Megami Tensei, the Security AI boss in the Ginza police station has a face that resembles YHVH's to an extent, and it is also law-aligned.
- In Shin Megami Tensei II, YHVH's level is 108, a number used in the Buddhist Wheel of Samsara to represent the number of temptations humans face in their lifetime.
- In Majin Tensei II: Spiral Nemesis, multiple versions of YHVH's head appear when demons use the Extra skill Shibaboo.
- In Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse, his name is inaudible. Instead, an unsettling static-like sound is heard every time someone mentions his name in the Japanese version. In the overseas release, the sound is similar to a record scratch.
- YHVH's pose in Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse when he uses Smile Charge is similar to a smirking sprite of his in Shin Megami Tensei II.
- YHVH's second battle theme in Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse Battle F8 (To Become God's Enemy] is a remix of SMT IV: Apocalypse's Battle F1 [Normal Battle]and SMT IV's Battle A1 [Naruku] and Battle A2 [Tokyo Battle] referencing how YHVH's transformation makes him no different to any other demon.
- Furthermore, the name itself references the biblical verse James 4.4: "You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to become a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God."
- Going further still, it's listed as Battle F8 (fate) which references how YHVH is fated to fall at the hands of a Godslayer.
- The battle with Demonized YHVH has several references to the biblical verses of Revelation: The song itself starts with 7 trumpets, referencing the Seven Trumpets from The Book of Revelation which also mentions locusts tying into Exodus which has locusts as it's seventh plague.
- YHVH and Shesha are the only bosses in Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse to be 3D models instead of 2D sprites like any other boss. It's also the only boss fight that changes significantly depending on if you chose the Peace or Anarchy route.
- According to the official artbook for Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse, YHVH's second form is based upon a common practice in historical Judaism and Christianity. Jews and Christians would often depict pagan gods as demons and monsters. In Apocalypse, YHVH is himself degraded into such a monstrous form in a display of irony.
- Despite YHVH often stating that without him the universe would crumble, such a thing has never happened every time he was defeated, thus implying that this statement is, in fact, a lie.
- In Megami Tensei games, it is shown that angels cease to exist without YHVH, as they "have no purpose," with Gabriel and Satan as primary examples in Shin Megami Tensei II. Despite this, in Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse, after YHVH is defeated by the protagonists in the Bonds route, in the prologue some winged figures can be seen descending from the hole in the Firmament, thus implying that some angels may have actually survived God's "death." In Shin Megami Tensei V it's confirmed that angels can indeed survive YHVH's demise, as the angelic forces of Bethel continue to fight in God's name even after his confirmed death at Lucifer's hands, though Lucifer himself was willing to allow the angels and humans to coexist peacefully in their own world together.
