"Mature Content"
This character or verse has mature themes and concepts, thus those of young age are ill-advised to look through these.

Worm, you dare oppose the power of darkness? Is it death you seek?
~ Gilles de Rais

Background

Gilles de Rais is an antagonist featured in Castlevania (N64) and Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness. A powerful vampire and one of Count Dracula's most trusted subordinates, Gilles serves as a high-ranking figure in a carefully orchestrated scheme to resurrect the Dark Lord.

This dropdown contains the synopsis of Gilles de Rais’ story. Read at your own risk as you may be spoiled otherwise!

Gilles de Rais makes his first appearance in the opening sequence of Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness, where he is seen traversing the castle halls, lantern in hand. He ascends to the Castle Keep, joining Actrise and Death as they perform the ritual to resurrect Dracula in 1844.

He is later referenced during the Villa stage, where Mary Oldrey reveals that her husband, J. A. Oldrey, fell victim to Gilles and was turned into a vampire. Gilles himself confronts Cornell in the crypt beneath the Villa's garden maze, initiating a battle. However, he is caught off guard by Cornell's strength and retreats when Actrise intervenes, halting the confrontation. Before leaving, both Gilles and Actrise ominously hint that Cornell may prove to be a worthy opponent for Dracula. Gilles reappears in the final scene of Cornell’s story, where Cornell’s werewolf essence is used in a ritual to reincarnate Dracula within the body of Malus.

Gilles de Rais returns in the events of Reinhardt and Carrie's quests in 1852, this time under the guise of Dracula. While the English versions of the games do not clearly reveal his identity, the official strategy guide confirms that he is "Vampire Gildre," one of Dracula's servants. Disguised as his master, Gilles attempts to thwart the adventurers in the Castle Wall. His deception ends when he is confronted and ultimately defeated during the climactic battle in the Castle Keep.

Dimensionality: 3-D

Attack Potency: At least Town level (Potency) (Vampires are considered far larger threats than the standard creature of the night monsters[9], which would put him above creatures such as Golem, from Castlevania Judgement, as he died to a random unknown hunter after his return from the time rift[10]. Golem with his ultimate can shoot out a mouth blast that vaporizes everything it touches as far as the eye can see getting these results[11]. Can harm and fight against enemies stronger than characters who can take hits from neutron bomb[12], that have a yield range of 1-10 kilotons of TNT. Powers and Techniques

Is a Creature of the Night, which gives:

Superhuman Physical Characteristics (Even the smallest creatures of the night can destroy a bridge[27], one of Dracula's bats easily destroyed a stone ground block[28]), Intimidation (Creatures of the nights appearances can cause one to have their body's cells cry out in terror[29]), Immortality (Ageless; The biggest hindrance to humans when attempting to accomplish something is their limited lifespans, a limitation that cannot be overcome, however, dwellers of the darkness do not apply to the laws of the human world, ignoring such limitations[30]. Immortal Metaphysical Aspect; Creatures of the Night can continue to exist even as a spirit and use their spirit form to form bodies out of inanimate material around them[31]), Acausality (Causality Immunity; All immortal beings disrupt the flow of time according to Aeon[32], along with ignoring the very passage of time[33]. With their souls being completely free from time[34]. The biggest hindrance to humans when attempting to accomplish something is their limited lifespans, a limitation that cannot be overcome, however, dwellers of the darkness do not apply to the laws of the human world, ignoring such limitations[35]), Free Will (Creatures of the Night do not follow the hand of God and instead choose of their own free will[36]), Empowerment (Creatures of the night are empowered by the night[37], becoming stronger when it's night time[38]), Evolution (Creatures of chaos can inherit evil natures[39] awakening into stronger enemies with new abilities and less weaknesses[40]), Resurrection (Self-Resurrection; Creatures of chaos can be brought back to life from the power of hate[41]. This has also been shown with slain heads reviving as an angry wraith[42]), Regeneration (Mid-Godly overtime; Even the castle from Castlevania is a Creature of Chaos[43], where they are always rebirth from Chaos with each rebirth, the creatures takes a new form[44], with this state being referred to as a "regeneration cycle"[45]), Invisibility (Creatures of Chaos possess a natural aura of darkness, which makes one unable to see those with an aura of darkness by the naked eye[46]), Time Manipulation (1-T, Passive; All immortal beings disrupt the flow of time according to Aeon[47]), Darkness Manipulation & Subjective Reality (Creatures of chaos very existence causes dark powers to flow beyond the control of the Elgos' grimoires, due to them collecting documented information on Dracula and his castle. Causing their power to materialize in the real world in the form of monsters[48]. With the real world and world of grimoires being considered the same or "equal"[49], compared to the like of Brauner's painting worlds that are quantum multi-layered spaces requiring understandings of theories such as "Curse Amplification"[50]), Text Manipulation & Plot Manipulation (Passive; Creatures of the night's dark powers allowed them to rewrite the Grimoires to strengthen their dark powers greatly[51]. It is noted by Lucy that the "vital soul" of a monster is the cause of the grimoire chaos[52]. Their vital souls are causing the grimoires contents to be overwritten changing history to things such as Jonathan Morris is now at a disadvantage in battle[53], or Charlotte fading from existence due to them messing with the history of the Grimoires[54], Maria starting to fade because Richter's history is being rewritten[55], where if the contents of the book change the creatures magic will keep growing and eventually overflow into reality, causing the grimoire to fall into chaos and even more monsters materializing into the real world[56]. The text alterations also make the monsters stronger[57]. With the real world and world of grimoires being considered the same or "equal"[58], compared to the like of Brauner's painting worlds that are quantum multi-layered spaces requiring understandings of theories such as "Curse Amplification"[59]), Law Manipulation (Creatures of Chaos can alter grimoires, which do not adhere to the laws of reality[60]), Power Modification (Creatures of the night alterations of the Grimoire can greatly limit the powers of those far stronger than them, such as Jonathan Morris' power being limited due to the alterations[61]. The Chaos of the Grimoire destabilized the magic of the others[62]).

Resistance to Ice Manipulation & Absolute Zero (All enemies in Castlevania III: Dracula's curse can eventually break out of being frozen from Sypha's ice magic[63]. Along with this to protect against ice attacks in series, one normally wears rings that help them resist against absolute zero[64]), Time Manipulation (1-T; All immortal beings disrupt the flow of time according to Aeon[65], with their souls being completely free from time[66]. With time in Castlevania being so potent that not even eternity can withstand time[67], along with even artificial life being subject to the laws of time[68]. Some creatures of chaos are immune to time stop, normally being boss-level creatures[69]), Fate Manipulation (Temporal Fate; All immortal beings disrupt the flow of time according to Aeon[70], with their souls being completely free from time[71], with fate being a truth wound by time[72])

Is a Vampire, which gives:

Superhuman Physical Characteristics (Vampires are considered far larger threats than the standard creature of the night monsters[73]), Stealth Mastery (Vampires are able to attack stealthily in search of human blood[74]), Disguise Mastery (Vampires will sometimes disguise themselves[75] as villages in order to get near one[76]), Immortality (Ageless; Vampires defy God's decree that life should be limited, and exist for eternity[77], with Mathias noting he has eternal life[78]. Aeon notes that vampires exist for eternity[79]. Walter is noted to be a vampire that has eternal life[80]. The biggest hindrance to humans when attempting to accomplish something is their limited lifespans, a limitation that cannot be overcome, however, dwellers of the darkness do not apply to the laws of the human world, ignoring such limitations[81]. Immortal Metaphysical Aspect; Vampires will someday come back to life despite them being killed due to being immortal[82]), Acausality (Causality Immunity; All immortal beings disrupt the flow of time according to Aeon[83], along with ignoring the very passage of time[84]. With their souls being completely free from time[85]. The biggest hindrance to humans when attempting to accomplish something is their limited lifespans, a limitation that cannot be overcome, however, dwellers of the darkness do not apply to the laws of the human world, ignoring such limitations[86]), Free Will (Vampires do not follow the hand of God and instead choose of their own free will[87], defying God's decree[88]), Enhanced Senses (Vampires can smell that Reinhardt Schneider and Carrie Fernandez smell different from the usual adventurer[89]), Surface Scaling (Vampires can stand on ceilings[90]), Flight (Vampires can either naturally levitate grow wings to fly[91], turn into a bat[92], or into mist[93]), Immersion (Vampires can infuse magic into paintings to increase their power[94]), Empowerment (Vampires are loved by the night, making them so powerful that vampires like Walter Bernhard never been defeated before Leon Belmont gained the vampire killer[95]. Noted by Leon that the night should help Joachim Armster as well due to him being a vampire, with the only reason it doesn't is due to Walter holding the ebony stone[96]), Resurrection (Even if one somehow manages to kill a vampire, they will someday come back to life despite them being killed due to being immortal[97]), Transformation (Shapeshifting; Vampires can assume the shape of a wolf, a bat or fog[98]. Vampires can disguise themselves as huamns[99]), Teleportation (Vampires possess the ability to teleport freely[100]. Even non-threatening vampires such as Rosa, fade out from view[101]), Power Suppression (Vampires can submerge their own vampiric powers if needed[102]), Life-Force Absorption (Vampires can consume one's lifeforce[103], allowing them to heal themselves through biting into a victim[104]), Vampirification (Vampires can turn others into vampires[105], Walter turned Rinaldo's daughter into a vampire[106]), Invisibility (Vampires possess natural aura of darkness, which makes one unable to see those with an aura of darkness by the naked eye[107]), Time Manipulation (1-T, Passive; All immortal beings disrupt the flow of time according to Aeon[108]), Animal Manipulation (Bats serve under the control of vampires[109], being freely spawnned by any vampire[110]), Cloth Manipulation (A vampire's blood can transform clothes, such as Hector combining a vampire's blood with a prince's clothes to get Dracula's clothes[111]), Electricity Manipulation (Vampires can sometimes have electricity form around them as they transform[112]), Soul Manipulation (The candles in Castlevania are people's souls that were taken by Death or by vampires[113]), Text Manipulation & Plot Manipulation (Passive; Vampire's dark powers allowed them to rewrite the Grimoires to strengthen their dark powers greatly[114]. It is noted by Lucy that the "vital soul" of a monster is the cause of the grimoire chaos[115]. Their vital souls are causing the grimoires contents to be overwritten changing history to things such as Jonathan Morris is now at a disadvantage in battle[116], or Charlotte fading from existence due to them messing with the history of the Grimoires[117], Maria starting to fade because Richter's history is being rewritten[118], where if the contents of the book change the creatures magic will keep growing and eventually overflow into reality, causing the grimoire to fall into chaos and even more monsters materializing into the real world[119]. The text alterations also make the monsters stronger[120]. With the real world and world of grimoires being considered the same or "equal"[121], compared to the like of Brauner's painting worlds that are quantum multi-layered spaces requiring understandings of theories such as "Curse Amplification"[122]), Law Manipulation (Vampires can alter grimoires, which do not adhere to the laws of reality[123]), Power Modification (Vampire's alterations of the Grimoire can greatly limit the powers of those far stronger than them, such as Jonathan Morris' power being limited due to the alterations[124]. The Chaos of the Grimoire destabilized the magic of the others[125]).

Resistance to Temperatures (Vampires bodies turn cold, with them feeling no heat[126]), Biological Manipulation (Vampires biological functions are no longer required for them[127]), Time Manipulation (1-T; All immortal beings disrupt the flow of time according to Aeon[128], with their souls being completely free from time[129]. With time in Castlevania being so potent that not even eternity can withstand time[130], along with even artificial life being subject to the laws of time[131]), Death Manipulation ("Death" loses all meaning for Vampires, as they[132] defy God's decree that life should be limited, and exist for eternity[133]. Where even if one "kills" a vampire they will simply just come back as they are not bound to death[134]), Fate Manipulation (Temporal Fate; All immortal beings disrupt the flow of time according to Aeon[135], with their souls being completely free from time[136], with fate being a truth wound by time[137]), Law Manipulation (Vampires defy God's decree that life should be limited, and exist for eternity[138])

Magic & Principle Manipulation (Through utilizing magic, one has to have a deep understanding of Quantum Physics to utilize it to its fullest, requiring understandings of theories such as "Curse Amplification"[139]. Magic comes from alchemy, a field that experiments with the principles of God's creation of the world[140], along with being said to be as great a task as recreating God's creation of the Earth[141]), Non-Standard Interaction (Extra-Planar Interaction; Magic is able to interact with beings such as Camilla Fernandez[142], Physical attacks are difficult to land as Camilla lives in the Astral plane, and her earthly body is completely ethereal[143]), Limited Immersion & Dimensional Travel (3+1-D; Magic users can align their magic with the magic of another to enter into painting worlds[144]), Summoning (Magic can be used in order to summon weapons and items inscribed in grimoires[145]), Soul Manipulation (Yoko through the use of magic discovered a new ability to draw the monster souls out and use them[146])
Disguise Mastery (Gilles disguised himself as Dracula[147], with the real Dracula being Malus and Gilles merely being his servant[148]), Flight (Flies before Carrie and Reinhardt to welcome them to his castle[149]), Teleportation (Disappeared into mist[150]), Shockwave Generation (Unleashes a massive shockwave that travels outwards and harms any enemy it touches[151]), Curtain Fire (Multi-Directional) & Fire Manipulation (Shoots out a volley of fireballs at his opponents[152]), Animal Manipulation (He can send out bats that are on fire[153]), Vacuum Manipulation (Can utilize his fog to pull one in like a vaccum[154]).

Resistance to Dracula's Castle (Can fight and act all the way into Draucla's throne room without any adverse effects done to him[155]) The Castle Abilities Include:

Reality Warping (The Castle does not work on standard logic, where changing rooms can have one view a completely different background[156], such as room with a blue sky that is reflecting up and downwards and having the cloud srotate at a fast speed[157]), Transmutation (Beings that come near are subject to the castle's influence, such as a local barnyard owl which was mutated just from flying near it[158]), Possession (The castle possesses objects with its magic, such as a ouija table[159]), Sealing (Dracula's magic captured Aguni, a primitive god of fire[160]. The Castle has doors sealed off without solving puzzles[161]. This can extend to walls being sealed off where explosions will not affect it until the seal is gone[162]), Mind Manipulation (Everything that enters the castle is under the control by the power of Dracula's castle[163], the ghost of Eric Lecarde needed to cast a magic barrier to bind himself so he could be free from the control of the castle[164]. The Castle corrupts the minds of those who enter it, such as making Maxim Kischine feel strange ever since coming to it[165]. It also corrupted the mind of Hugh turning him against Nathan with Nathan noting he's being controlled by Dracula[166]. The castle increases one's dark desires, allowing Dracula to easily control them[167]. The magic of Dracula's power that empowers the owl enemy also spurs it to violence[168]), Madness Manipulation (The Castle warped Gergoth, a once-gentle beast and drove it mad[169]), Size Manipulation (Magically enlarged a toad through the use of demonic baptism[170]), Fear Manipulation (Even while far away, Curtis and Michelle felt malicious intent from the castle where their bodies seemed to squeal "run away"[171]. Michelle even being at the entrance to the castle had her body telling her to not go in and her leg muscles being petrified like stone[172]), Curse Manipulation (The Curse status that spirits inflict[173] comes from them absorbing the magic power around the castle. The Castle cursed a human to turn into a lizard man[174]), Life Manipulation (The castle can bring inanimate statues to life to attack[175]. Can cause the glass murals to come to life and attack[176]), Soul Manipulation (Those that die in the castle become one of the floating spirits that wander the halls of the castle for eternity[177]), Abstract Manipulation & Hell Manipulation (The castle can create a core of evil made from hatred, envy, anger and other dark emotions[178]), Text Manipulation & Plot Manipulation (The vital souls are noted to be apart of the Castle's power[179], where is noted by Lucy that the "vital soul" of a monster is the cause of the grimoire chaos[180] where creatures of the night's dark powers allowed them to rewrite the Grimoires to strengthen their dark powers greatly[181], along with their vital souls causing the grimoires contents to be overwritten changing history to things such as Jonathan Morris is now at a disadvantage in battle[182], or Charlotte fading from existence due to them messing with the history of the Grimoires[183], Maria starting to fade because Richter's history is being rewritten[184], where if the contents of the book change the creatures magic will keep growing and eventually overflow into reality, causing the grimoire to fall into chaos and even more monsters materializing into the real world[185]. The text alterations also make the monsters stronger[186]. With the real world and world of grimoires being considered the same or "equal"[187], compared to the like of Brauner's painting worlds that are quantum multi-layered spaces requiring understandings of theories such as "Curse Amplification"[188]. Death was going to use Dracula's magic to rewrite Dracula's defeat to Trevor making it where Dracula defeats Trevor Belmont instead where Dracula would go on living in the rewritten grimoire with each grimoire being its own world and the grimoires influence extends into reality[189]), Law Manipulation (The vital souls are noted to be apart of the Castle's power[190], which alter grimoires, which do not adhere to the laws of reality[191]), Power Modification (The vital souls are noted to be apart of the Castle's power[192], which the vital souls cause alterations of the Grimoire that can greatly limit the powers of those far stronger than them, such as Jonathan Morris' power being limited due to the alterations[193]. The Chaos of the Grimoire destabilized the magic of the others[194])

Equipment

Nothing notable.

Notable Techniques

  • Blood Draining: Vampires can bite and drink the blood of their victims. Blood acts as a source of energy and life for vampires and creatures of the night, an example of this being Red Skeletons who endlessly[195] regenerate[196], from any kind[197] of damage due to it absorbing blood[198].
  • Transformation: Vampires are able to turn into bats, wolves, fog, and other sorts of creatures as they please.
  • Super Strength: Vampires are incredibly superhumanly strong, even for the average creature of the night, being noted to be stronger than even Werewolves.
  • Super Speed: Vampires can move incredibly fast, to where all of them leave behind light projections due to how fast they're moving, while they can control their speeds even to approach speeds such as sound. They are normally beyond even other creatures in the castle such as the White Demon who moves at the speed of light at top speed.

  • Claw Slash: De Rais slashes Cornell with his claws. The attack is stronger at night and weaker during the day.
  • Vampiric Bite: De Rais bites Cornell to drain his health and replenish his own. If Cornell does not break free in time, his status changes to "vampire."
  • Flame Bursts: De Rais emits multiple bursts of flame as long-range attacks.
  • Evasion: De Rais is adept at evading attacks, either leaping into the air or sidestepping to avoid damage. If close enough, he will attempt to bite Cornell after evading.

  • Teleportation: De Rais turns into mist and vanishes, teleporting multiple times before reappearing behind the hero. If the player is too close or turns abruptly, he may vanish again.
  • Homing Fireballs/Flaming Bats: De Rais conjures four homing fireballs (in Legacy of Darkness) or four flaming bats (in Castlevania (N64)).
  • Vampiric Drain: De Rais draws the hero to him and sucks their blood, draining the player’s health and replenishing his own. If the player does not break free in time, their status changes to "vampire."
  • Shockwaves: De Rais emits two shockwaves, one low to the ground and the other at waist height.
  • Sustained Fire Blast: De Rais releases a sustained blast of fire, resembling a weaker version of Dracula’s Demonic Megiddo.

Other

Standard Tactics

  • Villa's Crypt:
    • Slashing with claws, with increased strength at night and reduced power during the day.
    • Biting to drain ones health while restoring his own. Prolonged biting can result in the opponent becoming a vampire.
    • Emitting bursts of flame for long-range attacks.
    • Gilles primarily fights at close range, using flame bursts when distant. He is highly evasive, leaping or sidestepping attacks and often attempting to bite if close.
  • Castle Keep:
    • After a cutscene, de Rais transforms into mist and teleports, often reappearing behind the hero. He may vanish again if the player gets too close or turns suddenly.
    • Conjuring four homing fireballs (in Legacy of Darkness) or four flaming bats (in Castlevania).
    • Drawing the opponent close and sucking their blood, draining their health while replenishing his own. If not broken free from in time, the player becomes a vampire.
    • Emitting two shockwaves, one low to the ground and the other at waist height.
    • Releasing a sustained blast of fire (similar to a weaker version of Dracula's Demonic Megiddo).
    • Like Dracula battles in previous games, de Rais only takes damage when struck on the head. On higher difficulty settings, the player must jump to hit him, or all attacks will miss.

Trivia

Gilles de Rais by Éloi Firmin Féron (1835).
  • This character is based on the real Gilles de Rais, a knight and lord from Brittany, Anjou and Poitou, a leader in the French army, and a companion-in-arms of Joan of Arc. Although he was not associated with vampire legends, he was convicted and executed as a confessed serial killer of hundreds of children, a crime ascribed to his in-game accomplice, Actrise.
    • He was also accused of being a sorcerer by the Catholic Church (he apparently did attempt to summon a demon with the help of a coerced priest), and a werewolf in other stories.
    • The real Gilles de Rais is associated with the legend of Bluebeard, a French folktale of a wealthy man in the habit of murdering his wives, and as such his in-game rendering sports a blue beard.
  • The PAL version of Castlevania (N64) features voice acting for Gilles de Rais in the Castle Wall and Castle Keep stages. However, in the American version, he only has voice acting in the Castle Wall.
    • This could have been due to the PAL version having been released about four months after the US version, allowing the developers to add extra features to it. However, this is unconfirmed.
  • Gilles' voice actor is uncredited in Castlevania (N64), although it is believed he was voiced by Scott McCulloch, who also voiced the Narrator in that game.
  • In Castlevania (N64) and Legacy of Darkness, it turns out that Gilles de Rais himself decided to become a host for Dracula so he could release his master's soul after he died and reincarnate it into Malus's body.
  • Largely because of Castlevania (N64) misleading the player into thinking Gilles de Rais is Dracula unless specific requirements are met for the true ending, Gilles de Rais is the only Dracula-like enemy to utilize Dracula's leitmotif "Dance of Illusions".
  • A version of Gilles de Rais was planned to appear in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, but was scrapped during development[219].
  • The 2003 horror film, Dracula II: Ascension, part of a trilogy which identified Dracula as the disciple Judas Iscariot, had Dracula stating a list of the names he had gone by through the centuries, one of which being Gilles de Rais.

Codex Statistics Questions

Q: Shouldn't the characters be around tier 2 for defeating the Time Reaper who would've destroyed the very fabric of time[220], attempted to destroy the specific era of time[221], cause all beings everywhere to disappear, forever[222] and that the age was on the verge of collapse[223]?

A: We actually never get a direct outright method of Time Reaper's plan for doing this, from what Aeon mentions to Golem, if the Time Rift is not erased, all beings everywhere will disappear, forever[224], implying that it's the Time Rift causing this, this is further backed up by the fact that in Time Reaper's boss fight, there is a vortex in the background consuming everything[225], meaning this is an overtime feat that scales to no one physically.

Q: Shouldn't they get tier 2 for Dracula's influence destabilizing the flow of time[226]?

A: This is a potent ability but has nothing to do with Attack Potency, there is no quantification for "destabilizing the flow of time", along with this, even if it was taken as physically, then it would be overtime as the effects are not noticeable throughout most of Curse of Darkness.

Q: Shouldn't Dracula and by proxy anyone that scales to him get tier 2 for him being able to sustain his castle?

A: This goes under our Stabilization Feats standards, which treats sustaining feats are non-combat applicable Attack Potency normally, though in Dracula's case the Castle is speficially powered by the existence of a Dark Lord, and doesn't necessarily need their strength to rise. In the Castlevania novel, the castle rose without a Dark Lord as an example. Along with this, no one scales to the collapse of the castle, in Curse of Darkness Hector would've died to the collapse of the castle if[227] Julia didn't come save him, and Isaac died within the castle[228]. In other cases the Castle does not collapse[229], but instead slowly fades away[230]. At the end of Dawn of Sorrow Soma Cruz and Genya Arikado (aka Alucard) must escape the collapsing abyss.

Q: Shouldn't Castlevania characters that scale to Death have Infinite speed due to Death being able to kill distance itself with his attacks?

A: Killing distance to attack is not a speed feat, it's a method of Spatial Manipulation by circumventing and ignoring distance, while one can say the attack spawns on you instantly, this is not really something quantifiable. Along with this, it would only scale to characters comparable to Death during post-Dawn of Sorrow, as Soma notes Death is far faster than he remembered from his fight with him in Dawn of Sorrow[231].

A spectacled vampire hunter confirmed this as his duty.
In front of him is a [grotesque creature] whose dreadful power can be felt. The creature appears human but the instant he looked at it, all of his body’s cells cried out in terror.
“The timing is bad, church person.”
Whilst listening to the words said by the [grotesque creature], the young hunter kept on reminding himself.
-----I am …… I ought to be a vampire hunter."

Akumajo Dracula: Kabuchi no Tsuisoukyoku "Ever since the Middle Ages, every 100 years, this legendary castle would rise together with its master Count Dracula ----- And whenever it happens, it is said that a clan of vampire hunters will seal it. Several hundred years have passed with battles with the [dark lord] Dracula.
When suddenly, an end to it all has been foretold. 1999----- Thanks to the power of a clan in Japan, Dracula’s castle was sealed inside a [solar eclipse] to disappear forever.
However, in this world, there is no such thing as forever. [They] had understood that Dracula’s regeneration cycle ought to have ended. Indeed, people have prepared for this but will it still exist? The castle is the symbol of the chaos within humans and as long as people exist, it will not be completely sealed.

  113. WN: Last question. Why does Dracula keep putting meat inside the walls of his castle?

KI: You should ask, why do they eat it! I've thought about this stuff.
I've actually thought about the candles. The candles are people's souls that were taken by Death or by the vampires. In Japan there are candles that represent life. So, when you release the souls from the candles by whipping them, they give you a "thank you" present. Thank-you hearts, or thank-you holy water.
The meat, I have no idea.

There was definitely no room for doubt. It is certain that the [castle] exists at the back of the mountains. The church’s greatest vampire hunter, Julius Belmont must be contacted. However, the conversation jumped into the matter of the disappearance of several village children."

  177. Akumajo Dracula: Kabuchi no Tsuisoukyoku "“Uh……aa……Mi……chelle……”
That really is no doubt an obsession.
The youth had more than 28 holes penetrating his limbs and body. His heart is already starting to fail and he is desperately trying to say something amidst the darkness.
    “Only…… protect…… you……-----“
When he said those words he must say, the man’s soul already left his body-----becoming one of the floating spirits that wander the halls of the castle.
    However-----
    Fate did not allow it.
For those people who are involved with the demon castle, even the loneliness of death seemed half hearted-----
The man’s soul is pierced by a small scythe that flew in from somewhere. That scythe did not exist physically. It was a diabolic blade created by some magic and possessed a strong soul."
