Background

Reinhardt Schneider is a playable main character featured in Castlevania and Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness. His backstory and quest are largely identical across both games. Reinhardt is a young and broad-shouldered vampire hunter, known for his bravery and noble character. He wields the legendary Vampire Killer whip as his primary weapon, making him a formidable opponent against the forces of darkness.

Reinhardt serves as one of the two main protagonists in Castlevania, alongside Carrie Fernandez, and is available as a playable character from the start. In Legacy of Darkness, however, he must be unlocked by locating one of the missing children during Henry's quest.

This dropdown contains the synopsis of Reinhardt Schneider’s story. Read at your own risk as you may be spoiled otherwise!

Early History
Reinhardt Schneider is a descendant of the Belmont lineage, though his surname differs from the iconic family name. In early drafts, he was known as Schneider Belmont. Growing up, Reinhardt faced ridicule from his peers, who doubted his claim to such a prestigious heritage. Despite these doubts weighing heavily on him, Reinhardt channeled his frustrations into determination, vowing to prove himself worthy. When chosen to become the next Vampire Hunter, he inherited the sacred weapons of the role. Under the strict guidance of his father, Reinhardt was trained to embody the ideals of a vampire hunter and a faithful servant of God.

Castlevania 64/Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness
When Dracula's resurrection threatens the land, Reinhardt embarks on a mission to defeat the dark lord. His journey takes him through haunted forests and into the cursed depths of Dracula's castle, where he faces numerous monstrous foes. Early in his quest, Reinhardt encounters Charlie Vincent, an eccentric vampire hunter armed with holy relics, in the eerie Villa. He also meets Rosa, a reluctant vampire who assists him despite her cursed existence. Grateful but concerned, Reinhardt leaves the Villa, uncertain of what lies ahead for Rosa.

While navigating the Garden Maze, Reinhardt meets a young boy named Malus, who claims he is being chased by monsters. Though Malus runs off, Reinhardt manages to find his way through the maze by following the boy’s path.

Later, Reinhardt comes across Rosa again. This time, she attempts to end her life by exposing herself to sunlight, unable to bear her cursed condition. Reinhardt saves her from self-destruction, a decision that confounds Rosa, who insists he should have let her die. She departs, leaving him with a cryptic warning.

In the Castle Center, Reinhardt meets Malus once more. The boy, still trapped, pleads with Reinhardt to save his family and friends. When Reinhardt vows to slay Dracula, Malus cryptically warns that the Count cannot truly be defeated, leaving Reinhardt unsettled. Pressing onward, Reinhardt faces Death, Dracula's loyal servant. To his horror, Death uses Rosa as a pawn, forcing her to fight against him. Reinhardt manages to defeat her without killing her, and Rosa disappears alongside Death in a swirl of mist.

Rosa ultimately defies her curse when she reappears atop the Clock Tower. In an act of redemption, she sacrifices herself to shield Reinhardt from Death’s ambush, reaffirming her faith in him. Moved by her sacrifice, Reinhardt promises that her soul will find forgiveness in God's eyes. He then confronts and destroys Death, who acknowledges him as a true Belmont before being vanquished.

Bad Ending
Reinhardt battles and seemingly defeats Dracula in the Castle Keep. Afterward, Malus appears, and they leave the castle together. As they travel home, Reinhardt speculates that Malus may one day rise as a hero to face Dracula. However, Malus’ eyes glow red, revealing his sinister nature.

Good Ending
Reinhardt defeats Gilles de Rais, who posed as Dracula, in the Castle Keep. As the structure begins to collapse, Malus attacks Reinhardt while riding a winged demon. Pursuing him to the Clock Tower, Reinhardt learns the boy’s true identity as Dracula, who transforms into his adult form. Reinhardt defeats him, forcing Dracula to revert to a childlike state. Malus attempts to deceive Reinhardt by claiming possession by the Count. However, Charlie Vincent exposes the truth by dousing him with holy water. Malus retaliates by transporting Reinhardt to another dimension, where he assumes his monstrous true form. After a fierce battle, Reinhardt triumphs and returns to reality as Dracula’s castle sinks into the lake.

Though burdened by the endless cycle of conflict with Dracula, Reinhardt’s despair lifts when rose petals fall from the sky, followed by a single red rose. Rosa appears, fully human and freed from her curse. Embracing her, Reinhardt finds renewed hope for the future.

Powers and Techniques

Is a member of the Belmont Bloodline, which gives him:

Superhuman Physical Characteristics (The Belmonts are known as the most powerful and renowned vampire hunters within the world of Castlevania[44]. During and before Trevor's time[45], the Belmont's were feared because of their immense power[46]), Acrobatics (Due to Belmonts superhuman nature, they possess very athletic and acrobatic bodies, examples include Richter easily flipping over Death's scythe attack while also jumping around and fighting Death while on a moving horse carriage[47]. Richter also showcases this with his boss fight in Dracula X where he must jump across platforms while also fighting against Dracula[48]. Julius showcasing extreme acrobatic leaps to reach the top of a castle drawbridge[49]), Genius Intelligence (Belmonts are trained and some of the best users of various sub-weapons, which in Castlevania requires one to have a high intelligence to be able to do[50]), Martial Arts (Trevor left behind all of his fighting techniques to each new Belmont clan member and Morris clan member[51]), Weapon Mastery (No matter the Belmont, they have all showcase a natural gift in using weapons, with Christopher showcasing the tools of his family's destiny are always the axe, dagger, cross, & stop watch[52]. Many of the famous Belmont weapons were left behind by Trevor[53], with him noting them to be the axe, dagger, cross, holy water, and stop watch[54]), Sheer Will (The Belmonts are all ones with strong courage and willpower, where having a strong constitution dictates and influences how fast one can recover from status effects such as poison or curse[55]. Belmonts are pillars of strength, willing to keep fighting even when weakened greatly and having their existence slowly erased from history[56]. Simon claims that the Belmonts and Morrises did not defeated Dracula because of the Vampire Killer, with the reason behind heroes' capacity to fight against evil lying not in their physical strength but the noble desire to drive away evil and usher in all that is good, the desire to protect the world for all of humanity, with the courage to fight to protect others being the true essence of a hero and a Belmonts strength, with this even applying for other heroes such as Shanoa, Maria, Charlotte, and even Arikado[57]. The Belmonts will should be greater than even the likes of the Fernandez/Belnades Clan, including Camilla Fernandez, where its noted she had great spirit and struggled mightily against the curse before she became a vampire[58]), Aura (Belmonts release a glow of aura around them[59], that envelops their body[60]), Non-Standard Interaction (Metaphysical Interaction; Belmonts can interact with ghosts with their whips and sub-weapons[61]. Olrox when seeing Death fight serious notes that he senses the overwhelming existence of death and states that death really exists[71]), Nullification (Pain Immunity Nullification; The Belmonts can make the White Dragon visibly react to pain[72] and scream out in pain, where it is an immortal being immune to pain and suffering[73]. Death is a being unconstrained by mortality[78]), Resurrection Bypassing (The Belmonts can kill zombies[79], who are corpses brought back to life from the power of hate[80]), Enhanced Senses (Belmonts such as Trevor could sense the power of a Belmont within Simon and also could tell he did not seem to grasp the fundamentals of combat in Judgment's time rift[81]), Extrasensory Perception (Belmonts can feel others being in an area, such as Simon Belmont being able to feel Trevor Belmont is in the time rift[82]. Leon could sense and feel that Joachim Armster was a vampire[83]. Leon could sense the rage from a Vampire Killer[84]. Trevor could sense a bad omen approaching[85]. Christopher Belmont felt a "chill" upon Dracula's return[86]. Belmonts such as Juste could sense Death's overwhelming power[87]. Belmonts such as Julius naturally has magical powers due to this[97], along with Juste having magical powers deriving from the Fernandez (Belnades) family[98]), Principle Manipulation (Magic comes from alchemy, a field that experiments with the principles of God's creation of the world[99]), Afterimage Creation (Belmonts can envelop themselves in an aura of light that allows them to move so fast, their light projections cannot keep up[100]), Glyph Creation & Portal Creation (The Belmont blood acts as a key to[101] the infinite corridor[102]), Empowerment & Holy Manipulation (Belmonts can amplify weapons, Leon holding The Whip of Alchemy had it become more powerful then before, with Rinaldo stating that the whip fits Leon better then it fits him, despite him being the one to make the Whip of Alchemy[103]. Belmonts can call upon the power of the light and use it to amplify their strength to be stronger and faster[105], this is also shown with Trevor Belmont's ultimate in Castlevania Judgment[106]. The Belmonts can use their stored energy (hearts) and transfer it into subweapons to make regular weapons as strong as they are along with magically enhancing them[107]), Invulnerability (Belmonts have an inborn self-defense ability known as "Burning Mode" which makes them invincible and raises their status to twice the normal level[108]), Statistics Boost (Belmonts get stronger from hearing of someone's grief, wanting to help them[109]), Reactive Power Level (As Dracula grows stronger each time he revives, the Belmonts have had to keep up, evolving to be powerful even without the strength of the Vampire Killer[110]), Sealing (Metaphysical Sealing; Belmonts can capture the spirits of enemies equal or greater to an area boss and use their abilities from their soul[111]), Nullification (Sealing Nullification; Belmonts such as Julius can compltely destroy barriers, however depending on how strong the barrier is, they may have no more energy to fight[112])

It also corrupted the mind of Hugh turning him against Nathan with Nathan noting he's being controlled by Dracula[177]. If Reinhardt does not cure the vampire status in time, he will give in and become a Creature of the Night[288], giving him:

Is a Creature of the Night, which gives:

Superhuman Physical Characteristics (Even the smallest creatures of the night can destroy a bridge[289], one of Dracula's bats easily destroyed a stone ground block[290]), Intimidation (Creatures of the nights appearances can cause one to have their body's cells cry out in terror[291]), Immortality (Ageless; The biggest hindrance to humans when attempting to accomplish something is their limited lifespans, a limitation that cannot be overcome, however, dwellers of the darkness do not apply to the laws of the human world, ignoring such limitations[292]. Immortal Metaphysical Aspect; Creatures of the Night can continue to exist even as a spirit and use their spirit form to form bodies out of inanimate material around them[293]), Acausality (Causality Immunity; All immortal beings disrupt the flow of time according to Aeon[294]. With their souls being completely free from time[295]. The biggest hindrance to humans when attempting to accomplish something is their limited lifespans, a limitation that cannot be overcome, however, dwellers of the darkness do not apply to the laws of the human world, ignoring such limitations[296]), Free Will (Creatures of the Night do not follow the hand of God and instead choose of their own free will[297]), Empowerment (Creatures of the night are empowered by the night[298], becoming stronger when it's night time[299]), Evolution (Creatures of chaos can inherit evil natures[300] awakening into stronger enemies with new abilities and less weaknesses[301]), Resurrection (Self-Resurrection; Creatures of chaos can be brought back to life from the power of hate[302]. This has also been shown with slain heads reviving as an angry wraith[303]), Regeneration (Mid-Godly overtime; Even the castle from Castlevania is a Creature of Chaos, [304] where they are always rebirth from Chaos with each rebirth, the creatures takes a new form[305], with this state being referred to as a "regeneration cycle"[306]), Invisibility (Creatures of Chaos possess a natural aura of darkness, which makes one unable to see those with an aura of darkness by the naked eye[307]), Time Manipulation (Passive; All immortal beings disrupt the flow of time according to Aeon[308]), Darkness Manipulation & Subjective Reality (Creatures of chaos very existence causes dark powers to flow beyond the control of the Elgos' grimoires, due to them collecting documented information on Dracula and his castle. Causing their power to materialize in the real world in the form of monsters[309]. With the real world and world of grimoires being one and the same[310]), Text Manipulation & Plot Manipulation (Passive; Creatures of the night's dark powers allowed them to rewrite the Grimoires to strengthen their dark powers greatly[311]. It is noted by Lucy that the "vital soul" of a monster is the cause of the grimoire chaos[312]. Their vital souls are causing the grimoires contents to be overwritten changing history to things such as Jonathan Morris is now at a disadvantage in battle[313], or Charlotte fading from existence due to them messing with the history of the Grimoires[314], Maria starting to fade because Richter's history is being rewritten[315], where if the contents of the book change the creatures magic will keep growing and eventually overflow into reality, causing the grimoire to fall into chaos and even more monsters materializing into the real world[316]. The text alterations also make the monsters stronger[317]. With the real world and world of grimoires being one and the same[318]), Law Manipulation (Creatures of Chaos can alter grimoires, which do not adhere to the laws of reality[319]), Power Modification (Creatures of the night alterations of the Grimoire can greatly limit the powers of those far stronger than them, such as Jonathan Morris' power being limited due to the alterations[320]. The Chaos of the Grimoire destabilized the magic of the others[321]).

Resistance to Ice Manipulation & Absolute Zero (All enemies in Castlevania III: Dracula's curse can eventually break out of being frozen from Sypha's ice magic[322]. Along with this to protect against ice attacks in series, one normally wears rings that help them resist against absolute zero[323]), Time Manipulation (All immortal beings disrupt the flow of time according to Aeon[324], with their souls being completely free from time[325]. With time in Castlevania being so potent that not even eternity can withstand time[326], along with even artificial life being subject to the laws of time[327]. Some creatures of chaos are immune to time stop, normally being boss-level creatures[328]), Fate Manipulation (All immortal beings disrupt the flow of time according to Aeon[329], with their souls being completely free from time[330], with fate being a truth wound by time[331])

Is a Vampire, which gives:

Superhuman Physical Characteristics (Vampires are considered far larger threats than standard creature of the night monsters[332]), Stealth Mastery (Vampires are able to attack stealthily in search of human blood[333]), Disguise Mastery (Vampires will sometimes disguise themselves[334] as villages in order to get near one[335]), Immortality (Ageless; Vampires defy God's decree that life should be limited, and exist for eternity[336], with Mathias noting he has eternal life[337]. Aeon notes that vampires exist for eternity[338]. Walter is noted to be a vampire that has eternal life[339]. The biggest hindrance to humans when attempting to accomplish something is their limited lifespans, a limitation that cannot be overcome, however, dwellers of the darkness do not apply to the laws of the human world, ignoring such limitations[340]. Immortal Metaphysical Aspect; Vampires will someday come back to life despite them being killed due to being immortal[341]), Acausality (Causality Immunity; All immortal beings disrupt the flow of time according to Aeon[342]. With their souls being completely free from time[343]. The biggest hindrance to humans when attempting to accomplish something is their limited lifespans, a limitation that cannot be overcome, however, dwellers of the darkness do not apply to the laws of the human world, ignoring such limitations[344]), Free Will (Vampires do not follow the hand of God and instead choose of their own free will[345], defying God's decree[346]), Enhanced Senses (Vampires can smell that Reinhardt Schneider and Carrie Fernandez smell different from the usual adventurer[347]), Surface Scaling (Vampires can stand on ceilings[348]), Flight (Vampires can either naturally levitate grow wings to fly[349], turn into a bat[350], or into mist[351]), Immersion (Vampires can infuse magic into paintings to increase their power[352]), Empowerment (Vampires are loved by the night, making them so powerful that vampires like Walter Bernhard never been defeated before Leon Belmont gained the vampire killer[353]. Noted by Leon that the night should help Joachim Armster as well due to him being a vampire, with the only reason it doesn't is due to Walter holding the ebony stone[354]), Resurrection (Even if one somehow manages to kill a vampire, they will someday come back to life despite them being killed due to being immortal[355]), Transformation (Shapeshifting; Vampires can assume the shape of a wolf, a bat or fog[356]. Vampires can disguise themselves as huamns[357]), Teleportation (Vampires possess the ability to teleport freely[358]. Even non-threatening vampires such as Rosa, fade out from view[359]), Power Suppression (Vampires can submerge their own vampiric powers if needed[360]), Life-Force Absorption (Vampires can consume one's lifeforce[361], allowing them to heal themselves through biting into a victim[362]), Vampirification (Vampires can turn others into vampires[363], Walter turned Rinaldo's daughter into a vampire[364]), Invisibility (Vampires possess natural aura of darkness, which makes one unable to see those with an aura of darkness by the naked eye[365]), Time Manipulation (Passive; All immortal beings disrupt the flow of time according to Aeon[366]), Animal Manipulation (Bats serve under the control of vampires[367], being freely spawnned by any vampire[368]), Cloth Manipulation (A vampire's blood can transform clothes, such as Hector combining a vampire's blood with a prince's clothes to get Dracula's clothes[369]), Electricity Manipulation (Vampires can sometimes have electricity form around them as they transform[370]), Soul Manipulation (The candles in Castlevania are people's souls that were taken by Death or by vampires[371]).

Resistance to Temperatures (Vampires bodies turn cold, with them feeling no heat[372]), Biological Manipulation (Vampires biological functions are no longer required for them[373]), Time Manipulation (All immortal beings disrupt the flow of time according to Aeon[374], with their souls being completely free from time[375]. With time in Castlevania being so potent that not even eternity can withstand time[376], along with even artificial life being subject to the laws of time[377]), Death Manipulation ("Death" loses all meaning for Vampires, as they[378] defy God's decree that life should be limited, and exist for eternity[379]. Where even if one "kills" a vampire they will simply just come back as they are not bound to death[380]), Fate Manipulation (All immortal beings disrupt the flow of time according to Aeon[381], with their souls being completely free from time[382], with fate being a truth wound by time[383]), Law Manipulation (Vampires defy God's decree that life should be limited, and exist for eternity[384])

Notable Technqiues

If Fully Infected by Vamp Status

Standard Vampire Techniques

  • Blood Draining: Vampires can bite and drink the blood of their victims. Blood acts as a source of energy and life for vampires and reatures of the night, an example of this being Red Skeletons who endlessly[385] regenerate[386], from any kind[387] of damage due to it absorbing blood[388].
  • Transformation: Vampires are able to turn into bats, wolves, fog, and other sorts of creatures as they please.
  • Super Strength: Vampires are incredibly superhumanly strong, even for the average creature of the night, being noted to be stronger than even Werewolves.
  • Super Speed: Vampires can move incredibly fast, to where all of them leave behind light projections due to how fast they're moving, while they can control their speeds even to approach speeds such as sound. They are normally beyond even other creatures in the castle such as the White Demon who moves at the speed of light at top speed.

Other

Standard Tactics: Reinhardt will utilize the legendary vampire killer along with his sword and the sub-weapon that best suits the situation.

Weaknesses

Note

Trivia

  • In the opening cutscene for his scenario in Castlevania 64, Reinhardt is seen making the sign of the cross.
  • Schneider's personal stage in Castlevania 64 is the Tower of Execution. He also received the Tower of Duels as his personal level, which originally belonged to the cut character, Cornell.
  • Most members/descendants of the Belmont clan are depicted with swords, but only Reinhardt and Jonathan are seen actually using theirs.
  • Originally, Reinhardt was supposed to have the ability to use his whip to swing over pits and swing it around like Simon Belmont in Super Castlevania IV; however, both of those abilities were cut, when Castlevania 64 was trimmed to be released during the holidays of 1998.
  • His original name was "Schneider Belmont". He was renamed Reinhardt Schneider during development when the developers were informed by fans that "Schneider" was a surname and not a given name. The "Reinhardt" part of his name comes from the preliminary character Reinhardt Cornell, who was cut from Castlevania 64. Similarly, fans informed the developers that "Cornell" was usually a given name and not a surname.
  • His name is German; Schneider is a very common surname, which means "Taylor". Due to this, he's probably an ethnic Transylvanian Saxon or Banat Swabian.
  • There is a notable resemblance between Reinhardt's default costume in Castlevania 64 and Simon Belmont's design in Captain N: The Game Master. Both wear blue-colored upper garments which feature a white furry collar with a scarf underneath, khaki-colored pants with boots worn over them, enlarged shoulders (in Reinhardt's case, he wears pauldrons), gloves, their faces feature a pronounced chin and an overall rectangular shape, and both have blond hair mainly combed toward the back. However, it's unclear if such similarities were intentional (furthermore, because Captain N ended production in 1993 and Castlevania 64 wasn't released until 1999).
  • To unlock Reinhardt as a playable character in Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness, the player has to find Clark during Henry's quest. He is found in the Villa. In the hedge maze, near the area where the Rose Brooch was required to open, there is an alcove with the child inside.
    • To unlock Reinhardt's alternate costume, after finding Clark the player has to find Edward during Henry's quest. He is found in the Underground Waterway. Proceed through the waterway, avoiding any falling floors as best as possible, and keep turning right until reaching a staircase; follow them up and cross a broken bridge. Look for an alcove to the left of the bridge, where Edward can be seen standing. Jump to the ledge to rescue him.

“What have you misunderstood? I am Death. Human death only comprises a part of chaos. They can come back again as zombies or skeletons, but without a soul, dead bodies cannot be revived. And ----- there is no reason to perform that.”
  71. Akumajo Dracula: Kabuchi no Tsuisoukyoku "Those scythes constructed by magic did not turn towards Olrox or Michelle, every scythe then gathered near the youth’s body.
Then, those numerous blades made from magic overlapped with each other and with a powerful atrocious magic constructed a Death scythe in Death’s arm.
“This false castle……You shall fall into chaos as a thing that denies the existence of the [lord]……[death] shall pass judgment on your sins!”
Sensing the overwhelming existence of [death], Olrox again realized that the youth in front of him is [Death]------laughed out loud.
“interesting…… So, death really exists! Thus I’ll use all my power…… to shatter that thing called [death].”

  74. Akumajo Dracula: Kabuchi no Tsuisoukyoku Novel “I had said it before. I do not intend to bind the world with chaos.”
“…… If so, why did you take power away from the crack in the eclipse’s seal? If you just intend to imitate like a monkey, isn’t your own power enough?”
Those were the emotionless words of Death.
In response, Olrox laughed his bold answer.
“As I’ve said, I would equally gain control over the human world and the source of Dracula’s power, chaos. I do not intend to obey someone else’s mind aside from my own. That includes you who were born out of chaos.”
    “……”
“You should be glad though to know yourself. Just by stealing power, my shameful monotonous time is over…… Even before Alucard appeared, just because I showed up and declared war on him.”
Olrox’s voice was mixed with a tinge of thin delight. He respectfully bowed to Death who completely killed his emotions.
“I would end the reincarnation cycle of this demon castle. I who understood and was spun out of the stains of chaos, swear to rob that power with my hands. Now, yield.”
With Death’s reply, an explosive murderous intent rose.
Two bronze colored scythes much larger than usual appeared; it advanced to the space in between the two men with an intention to cut off Olrox’s head.
    Kill the distance-----
    Kill the sound-----
    Just, faster, soon, die.
It can be seen that the blades have certainly caught Olrox’s neck, but----- that is only an after image and the vampire is already at Death’s back.
    “……die.”
That was said by the enemy who called on his servants.
From the surrounding space, a group of purple bats rose, passed by Olrox’s arm with the speed of a bullet, attacking Death. However, Death did not show any gesture of avoiding them. He simply faced Olrox and sprayed out numerous scythes.
The bats and scythes cancelled each other out and the entire dance hall sparkled with blood."

There was definitely no room for doubt. It is certain that the [castle] exists at the back of the mountains. The church’s greatest vampire hunter, Julius Belmont must be contacted. However, the conversation jumped into the matter of the disappearance of several village children."
  183. Akumajo Dracula: Kabuchi no Tsuisoukyoku "A drawbridge suspended from the main gate is seemingly welcoming Michelle’s arrival.

That really is no doubt an obsession.
The youth had more than 28 holes penetrating his limbs and body. His heart is already starting to fail and he is desperately trying to say something amidst the darkness.
    “Only…… protect…… you……-----“
When he said those words he must say, the man’s soul already left his body-----becoming one of the floating spirits that wander the halls of the castle.
    However-----
    Fate did not allow it.
For those people who are involved with the demon castle, even the loneliness of death seemed half hearted-----
The man’s soul is pierced by a small scythe that flew in from somewhere. That scythe did not exist physically. It was a diabolic blade created by some magic and possessed a strong soul."

It was a whip that was soaked in blood in some places.
“I picked this up at the garden and I believe this is yours, right? Old man Julius also uses a whip. I came here just to deliver this to ya.”
Whoosh, receiving the thrown whip, Michelle noticed that it was the magical whip that serves as Curtis’ weapon.
“That’s great……! Curtis! With this your power-----“
In order to shake away the confusion she had a while ago, Michelle raised her voice, but-----
“Sorry, but…… with my current self, I could not handle it.”
“……? What are you talking about? Curtis……”
was he still confused, Michelle made him grip his whip.
Snap, some kind of popping sound rang and Michelle felt a light shock in her arm.
    “Uh……!?”
What happened, she directed her eyes on the origin of the shock-----
A part of the whip’s handle had a rotten like disintegration-----
A part of Curtis’ hand was burned, and that skin immediately returned back to as before.
    ----- No way……
    “Curtis……?”
“……I am currently weak at holy magic.”

Several hundred years have passed with battles with the [dark lord] Dracula.
When suddenly, an end to it all has been foretold. 1999----- Thanks to the power of a clan in Japan, Dracula’s castle was sealed inside a [solar eclipse] to disappear forever.
However, in this world, there is no such thing as forever. [They] had understood that Dracula’s regeneration cycle ought to have ended. Indeed, people have prepared for this but will it still exist? The castle is the symbol of the chaos within humans and as long as people exist, it will not be completely sealed.

  371. WN: Last question. Why does Dracula keep putting meat inside the walls of his castle?

KI: You should ask, why do they eat it! I've thought about this stuff.
I've actually thought about the candles. The candles are people's souls that were taken by Death or by the vampires. In Japan there are candles that represent life. So, when you release the souls from the candles by whipping them, they give you a "thank you" present. Thank-you hearts, or thank-you holy water.
The meat, I have no idea.
