~ Dracula Wraith to Juste Belmont |
Background
The Dracula Wraith was an evil spirit spawned from Count Dracula’s remains in conjunction with Maxim Kischine’s mind. This evil spirit, having been born from Dracula’s remains, takes on Dracula’s form and possesses a small bit of the Dark Lord’s intelligence.
After the Dracula Wraith was created from contact between Maxim and the Dracula remains, it went on to house itself within Maxim’s mind and take control of him, developing a persona within him that came to be known as Dark Maxim. With Dracula’s Wraith risen, Dracula’s Castle rose with him; furthermore, Maxim’s split personalities spawned a parallel dimension, a complete copy of the castle, known as Castle B.
Now as Dark Maxim, the Dracula Wraith headed back to Maxim’s hometown and kidnapped Maxim’s childhood friend, Lydie Erlanger. He then took her to the castle, which he did to draw out Maxim’s friend, Juste Belmont. As expected, Juste entered the castle immediately and searched for Lydie.
Eventually as Juste was through with traversing both Castle A and Castle B, he reached the room where Lydie was being held. The Dracula Wraith revealed himself within Maxim, and was finally forced out of his body by Maxim’s willpower. Realizing that he needs blood to achieve his completed form, the Dracula Wraith attacked Juste Belmont.
Unfortunately for it, the Dracula Wraith was completely destroyed and wiped from existence by Juste Belmont. Fully completed, the Dracula Wraith stated that the Belmont Clan would be cursed to fight for eternity, and then it was gone. The real Count Dracula would then be resurrected nearly 44 years later.

Vampires can move so fast that the light itself cannot keep up with them, leaving an afterimage behind[29], along with Belmonts such as Juste Belmont, moving so fast that the light afterimage behind him cannot keep up[30]. The castle can make glyphs that teleport one outside of the castle by standing over it[43]. A lot of these creatures are summoned from Hell[44]. The castle has magic energies that seal the gateway to hell[45])
Intelligence: Supergenius Intelligence (Absorbed Dracula's remains into him[46], where Mathias is the only person who truly understands alchemy, having studied and being a lead component in the secret arts of alchemy, a science that experiments with the arcane[47], and experiments with the principles of God's creation of the world[48], along with being said to be as great a task as recreating God's creation of the Earth[49]. Alchemy and Magic are one and the same, where magic requires one to have a deep understanding of Quantum Physics to utilize it to its fullest, requiring understandings of theories such as "Curse Amplification"[50]. Mathias is a genius tactician, who they call "Cronqvist the Wise"[51])
Knowledge: Grandmaster level (Absorbed Dracula's remains into him[52], who is noted to have a detailed knowledge of alchemy, a science that experiments with the arcane[53]. Due to the passing of his wife, Mathias devised a plan to take revenge on God for stealing Elisabetha by becoming a vampire and living eternally, manipulating Leon, Sara, Walter and his monsters to obtain his goal[54]. Mathias' learning made him an exception to a largely illiterate society[55])
Powers and Techniques
Resistance to Ice Manipulation & Absolute Zero (All enemies in Castlevania III: Dracula's curse can eventually break out of being frozen from Sypha's ice magic[89]. Along with this to protect against ice attacks in series, one normally wears rings that help them resist against absolute zero[90]), Time Manipulation (All immortal beings disrupt the flow of time according to Aeon[91], with their souls being completely free from time[92]. With time in Castlevania being so potent that not even eternity can withstand time[93], along with even artificial life being subject to the laws of time[94]. Some creatures of chaos are immune to time stop, normally being boss level creatures[95]), Fate Manipulation (All immortal beings disrupt the flow of time according to Aeon[96], with their souls being completely free from time[97], with fate being a truth wound by time[98])
Resistance to Temperatures (Vampires bodies turn cold, with them feeling no heat[136]), Biological Manipulation (Vampires biological functions are no longer required for them[137]), Time Manipulation (All immortal beings disrupt the flow of time according to Aeon[138], with their souls being completely free from time[139]. With time in Castlevania being so potent that not even eternity can withstand time[140], along with even artificial life being subject to the laws of time[141]),Death Manipulation: "Death" loses all meaning for Vampires, as they[142] defy God's decree that life should be limited, and exist for eternity[143]. Where even if one "kills" a vampire they will simply just come back as they are not bound to death[144]), Fate Manipulation (All immortal beings disrupt the flow of time according to Aeon[145], with their souls being completely free from time[146], with fate being a truth wound by time[147]), Law Manipulation (Vampires defy God's decree that life should be limited, and exist for eternity[148])
Resistance to Extreme Heats (Unaffected by moving so fast he catches on fire[389]), Extrasensory Perception (Dark Lords are incapable of being sensed by the likes of Death[390]), Attack Reflection (His reincarnation can attack and harm Graham Jones, where he's absorbed the power of the castle, and inherited Dracula's powers[391], where Dracula's mere rib bone reflects all projectiles back[392]), Darkness Manipulation & Hell Manipulation (Dracula has a natural resistance to the darkness element[393]. Dracula's mere ribs protects from the powers of wickedness[394]), Holy Fire Manipulation (Can take holy water hitting him, with it only momentarily having him cry out in pain, before emerging just fine[395]), Curse Manipulation (Dracula's mere heart clears curses[396]), Time Manipulation (Noted that the stop watch has no effect on moving platforms in the castle and most bosses[397]. With time in Castlevania being so potent that not even eternity can withstand time[398], along with even artificial life being subject to the laws of time[399]), Sealing (Dracula's power allowed Soma to easily repel away a multi-layered seal called aurora a multilayered rectangular barrier ritual that was supposed to isolate Soma and then remove Dracula's powers from him[400]. Even while greatly weakened, when the Aurora was used on Dracula, he greatly resisted it, requiring two master magicians to affect him[401]. Dracula's power is so great that very few magical items can truly hold his magic within a seal, requiring the usage of an entire library worth of grimoires in order to truly seal away just his magic alone[402]. The only reason Brauner was able to seal away Dracula was due to him not reviving completely otherwise his seals would be easily broken by Dracula's power[403]), Fire Manipulation (Dracula is naturally strongly resistant to fire based attacks[404]), Electricity Manipulation (Dracula is naturally strongly resistant to thunder based attacks[405]), Poison Manipulation (Dracula is naturally immune to poison based attacks[406]), Spatial Manipulation (Brauner using Dracula's power spatially segregated Dracula from the castle[407]), Power Modification, Information Manipulation, Text Manipulation & Plot Manipulation (Dracula's magic and powers have no limits posed on it from the grimoires where heroes summoned from the catalogue are unable to stray too far from its contents and have limited actions they can do having summoned heroes have their powers greatly limited from their true strength[408]), Fate Manipulation & Death Manipulation (Death serves Dracula with unfailing loyalty[409], where Death is noted to govern the fate of death[410], being noted to have the power to govern the end of all living things[411], and can use his scythes to kill abstractions such as distance and sound[412]. Death decides who lives and who dies[413]), Immortality Negation (The Vampire Killer is unable to strip Dracula of his immortality whereas the Vampire Killer can render immortal skeleton death gods like Death, mortal, having him bleed from attacks, giving him mortality as shown when Death dies to his own scythe cutting off his head and having blood spurt out, something not possible as a skeleton[414], and can kill Death to the point that he requires Mathias to survive in order for him to rise from the dead[415])
Resistance to Time Stop (Areas in the Castle are unaffected by time being stopped, and blocks and objects will still fall[490]. Noted that the stop watch has no effect on moving platforms in the castle[491]. Christopher stopping time on an elevator does not stop the elevator from moving[492], machinery still moves along[493], and floating objects still float[494]. With time in Castlevania being so potent that not even eternity can withstand time[495], along with even artificial life being subject to the laws of time[496]), Power Mimicry (One who copies the Power of Dominance requires their soul to withstand the power that it holds, being unable to control it and having the demons under their dominance come out of them[497])
Equipment
- Castle A & B: Castle A & B serve as essentially Maxim Kischine's Castlevania, where his magic flows throughout both castles.
- Eye of Vlad: This is Count Dracula’s eye, which, when held, prevents the holder from being inflicted with curses.
- Heart of Vlad: This is Count Dracula’s heart, which, when held, prevents the holder from being petrified.
- Rib of Vlad: This is Count Dracula’s rib bone, which, when held, prevents the holder from being poisoned.
- Nail of Vlad: This is Count Dracula’s nail, which, when held, increases the holder’s strength.
- Fang of Vlad: This is Count Dracula’s fang, which, when held, increases the holder’s defence.
- Ring of Vlad: This is Count Dracula’s ring, which, when held, increases the holder’s luck.
Other
Standard Tactics: Much like regular Dracula, Dracula's Wraith does not directly fight the opponent, instead having enemies and the Castle fight them. If the person survives all of these, then Dracula's wraith opens his cape and releases three-directional fireballs. He will then expel seven flaming spheres as his second attack. If defeated in his first form, he will enter his second form, a giant amalgamated version of all of Dracula's remains, where he has a long and extendible tentacle, and will shoot a large energy beam out of his eye. He will also stop for a moment and perform a luning-downward swipe.
Weaknesses
- Creature of the Night Weaknesses: Creatures of the night become weaker when exposed to the morning sun[498]. Garlic significantly weakens creatures of the night[499], and causes demons to die if its placed on the ground[500]. If a vital soul is defeated, the grimoire will revert back to its original content[501].
- Standard Vampire Weaknesses: After a vampire is sufficiently weakened, the sunlight can kill them[502]. Otherwise Vampires can stand out in the sunlight just fine[503]. Though some weaker vampires can have the sun burn them overtime, killing them[504]. Oak Stakes are able to break through the magic of a weakened vampire[505]. Defeating a vampire will stop the effects of someone they have bitten, but only before they've turned[506]. This is shown in Harmony of Dissonance where through Juste killing Dracula's Wraith, the bite marks on Lydie have vanished[507]. Vampries refelections do not appear on mirrors, making them easier to identify[508].
- Unique Weaknesses: Dracula's head seems to be a weak point, whereas the rest of his body is immune to damage, his head isn't[509]. Dracula can be separate from his castle through a solar eclipse, which allowed him to be destroyed for good[510]. The most effective weapon against Dracula are opposite emotions, the noble emotions of humanity, being their hopes and dreams. Dracula has a weakness to the light/holy element[511], though he loses this weakness in his transformed state[512]. This can also further be seen as his resurrection being incomplete, as a Dracula with a completed resurrection had no such weakness to holy attacks[513]. Cutting off the throne room will prevent Dracula's resurrection[514].
Note
- Dracula's Wraith is not Dracula, he is the suppressed desires of Maxim Kischine while he was holding the remains of Dracula forming a separate spirit entirely. This spirit went on to possess Dracula's remains, becoming the Dracula wraith[515]. The Wraith is also unfamiliar with the power of the Belmonts, with Juste callng it a "Vile spawn of Maxim"[516]. Dracula's Wraith also notes that it will fade away for good from the world, not noting the usual thing racula notes of him always coming back due to humanity's greed and want of him[517].
- Contrary to popular belief, holy attacks and the whips in Castlevania can affect and harm people that aren't apart of the creatures of the night. Leon's Doppelganger can use holy water and holy attacks against him in this fight along with the alchemy whip despite Leon being a pure and noble warrior[518]. Simon's Doppelganger can harm him with the vampire killer, despite Simon being a noble hero.
Trivia
- Dracula Wraith's Japanese voice actor, Takuo Kawamura, performed four characters in Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance: Maxim Kischine, the Merchant, Death, and the Dracula Wraith.
- When correctly starting a Hard Mode game, the Dracula Wraith's attack phrase is spoken upon confirming.
- Despite the Dracula Wraith using the six relics Juste Belmont obtained to form its body, Juste still has access to them all in the Relic screen during both battles.

In front of him is a [grotesque creature] whose dreadful power can be felt. The creature appears human but the instant he looked at it, all of his body’s cells cried out in terror.
“The timing is bad, church person.”
Whilst listening to the words said by the [grotesque creature], the young hunter kept on reminding himself.

- ↑ WN: Last question. Why does Dracula keep putting meat inside the walls of his castle?
KI: You should ask, why do they eat it! I've thought about this stuff.
I've actually thought about the candles. The candles are people's souls that were taken by Death or by the vampires. In Japan there are candles that represent life. So, when you release the souls from the candles by whipping them, they give you a "thank you" present. Thank-you hearts, or thank-you holy water.

“…… If so, why did you take power away from the crack in the eclipse’s seal? If you just intend to imitate like a monkey, isn’t your own power enough?”
Those were the emotionless words of Death.
In response, Olrox laughed his bold answer.
“As I’ve said, I would equally gain control over the human world and the source of Dracula’s power, chaos. I do not intend to obey someone else’s mind aside from my own. That includes you who were born out of chaos.”
“……”
“You should be glad though to know yourself. Just by stealing power, my shameful monotonous time is over…… Even before Alucard appeared, just because I showed up and declared war on him.”
Olrox’s voice was mixed with a tinge of thin delight. He respectfully bowed to Death who completely killed his emotions.
“I would end the reincarnation cycle of this demon castle. I who understood and was spun out of the stains of chaos, swear to rob that power with my hands. Now, yield.”
With Death’s reply, an explosive murderous intent rose.
Two bronze colored scythes much larger than usual appeared; it advanced to the space in between the two men with an intention to cut off Olrox’s head.
Kill the distance-----
Kill the sound-----
Just, faster, soon, die.
It can be seen that the blades have certainly caught Olrox’s neck, but----- that is only an after image and the vampire is already at Death’s back.
“……die.”
That was said by the enemy who called on his servants.
From the surrounding space, a group of purple bats rose, passed by Olrox’s arm with the speed of a bullet, attacking Death. However, Death did not show any gesture of avoiding them. He simply faced Olrox and sprayed out numerous scythes.

“Only…… protect…… you……-----“
When he said those words he must say, the man’s soul already left his body-----becoming one of the floating spirits that wander the halls of the castle.
However-----
Fate did not allow it.
For those people who are involved with the demon castle, even the loneliness of death seemed half hearted-----
The man’s soul is pierced by a small scythe that flew in from somewhere. That scythe did not exist physically. It was a diabolic blade created by some magic and possessed a strong soul." - ↑ Haunted Castle Revisited Dominus Collection
