Son Goku (Super Dragon Ball Heroes)

From The Codex

Background

Son Goku, born Kakarot, is a Saiyan raised on Earth and the overall main protagonist of the Dragon Ball series. Originally was sent to Earth as an infant, Kakarot would be adopted by Grandpa Gohan who named him Son Goku. A head injury at an early age alters Goku's memory, ridding him of his initial destructive nature and allowing him to grow up to become one of Earth's greatest defenders. He constantly strives and trains to be the greatest warrior possible, which has kept the Earth and the universe safe from destruction many times.

This dropdown contains the synopsis of Son Goku’s story. Read at your own risk as you may be spoiled otherwise!

Dark Empire Saga
In the manga, one of the Dark Dragon Balls travels back to the Battle of Namek and merges with Frieza. With the enhanced power of the Dragon Ball, the newly transformed Xeno Frieza easily defeats Super Saiyan Goku.

To fix the timeline, Xeno Goku and Xeno Trunks arrive to aid Goku in his fight against Xeno Frieza. When Xeno Frieza enters his 100% Full Power form to defend against two Super Kamehamehas from Xeno Goku and Super Saiyan Goku, the attacks create an opening. This allows Xeno Trunks to slip behind Xeno Frieza and sever him in half, mirroring the way Xeno Frieza's Death Saucer had previously struck in the original timeline, knocking the Dark Dragon Ball away from him.

The battle then continues as it was supposed to, with the wounded Frieza pleading for Goku's mercy. Eventually, the timeline is restored to its proper state. Prison Planet Saga
After the Tournament of Power, Goku and Vegeta resume their training with Whis on Beerus' planet. Meanwhile, Future Trunks and Mai travel back in time, and Trunks trains alongside Goku and Vegeta. However, things take a drastic turn when Future Trunks is kidnapped and taken to the Prison Planet. Goku, Vegeta, and Mai immediately embark on a mission to rescue him.

Upon their arrival at the Prison Planet, Goku encounters an alternate version of himself, known as Xeno Goku. Both Gokus notice the unique forms the other possesses—Goku has Super Saiyan Blue, while Xeno Goku has Super Saiyan 4. Curious to see who is stronger, they decide to spar. The battle is intense, and both seem evenly matched at first, but ultimately, Goku emerges victorious, with Xeno Goku acknowledging that Goku is a step above him. Goku then inquires further, but Xeno Goku reassures him that they are on the same side. At this point, Fu appears and explains the situation—if they want to escape the Prison Planet, they need to collect seven special Dragon Balls scattered across the prisoners.

In the anime, the situation escalates when they are confronted by the evil Saiyan Cumber. Goku, in Super Saiyan 2, challenges Cumber. However, the exposure to Cumber's malevolent ki causes Goku to lose control of himself, and he transforms into Super Saiyan: Berserk, with his focus shifting from Cumber to attacking Vegeta. Future Trunks arrives with Cooler, and Cooler quickly transforms into Golden Cooler. With his enhanced strength, Cooler defeats Goku with a single punch, bringing him back to his senses. Mai then throws Potara Earrings to Goku and Vegeta, allowing them to fuse into Vegito to fight Cumber.

The battle reaches a climax as Vegito exhausts his energy during the fight. The fusion breaks, and Goku and Vegeta return to their individual forms, only to witness Cumber transform into a Golden Great Ape. Goku, in Super Saiyan form, tries to fight back but is swiftly overwhelmed and almost crushed. In a desperate move to escape, Goku transforms into Super Saiyan Blue and uses Kaio-ken X20, but the fight is interrupted by Fu, who reverts Cumber to his normal state to preserve the seal around the Prison Planet. Despite this, Cumber continues attacking, and Goku, now using Super Saiyan God, still struggles to defeat him, nearly losing his life in the process. At this critical moment, Xeno Goku and Xeno Vegeta arrive to save Goku.

Vegeta attempts to revive Goku and get everyone out of the situation, but then Goku suddenly awakens into Ultra Instinct. The transformation takes everyone by surprise, especially Xeno Goku, who watches in stunned silence. With his newfound power, Goku effortlessly dominates Cumber. After overpowering him, Goku turns to Xeno Goku, who, knowing his counterpart, instructs everyone to grab hold of him. Xeno Goku uses Instant Transmission to teleport them off the planet. Meanwhile, Goku, still in Ultra Instinct, finishes off Cumber with a Kamehameha. Just as he prepares to deal the final blow, Fused Zamasu arrives, steals Cumber’s body, and leaves Goku stranded on the rapidly collapsing Prison Planet.

Unversal Conflict Saga
After the Tournament of Power, Goku is saved by the Grand Minister, who takes him to Zeno's planet, where he provides Goku with attire resembling his own. From there, the Grand Minister transports him to Universe 11, where his unexpected arrival surprises both his allies and enemies.

In the anime, without uttering a word, Goku immediately enters his Ultra Instinct Sign state and easily swats Oren—currently possessing Vegeta’s body—away from Future Trunks to protect him. Zamasu and Hearts observe the display of Goku's immense Godly power. Enraged by his defeat, Oren attempts to strike back, but he fails to land a single blow. Goku effortlessly separates Oren from Vegeta with a single punch and subsequently blasts away an approaching Kamin. He then locks eyes with Hearts, prepared for his next opponent.

As Goku hovers in front of Hearts, he confirms that he is the person he had been warned about. At the same time, Kamin and Oren attempt to attack together, but Goku easily overwhelms them with his strength and reflexes, knocking both of them down once again. In a desperate move, Kamin and Oren merge into the formidable Kamioren. Goku briefly engages in battle with the merged warrior but is interrupted by the appearance of Lagss. She emerges from a large, pointed shard of glass, which Hearts sends toward Goku. Goku exerts all of his strength to destroy the shard, causing him to revert to his normal form in the process. Lagss then uses the broken pieces to attack Goku, severely injuring him, causing him to fall to the ground. Fortunately, Trunks arrives just in time to save Goku from a fatal blow.

Though Goku has already endured considerable damage, he continues to fight alongside Trunks, only to be overpowered again and further wounded. Hearts, continuing to provoke Goku, vows to draw out his true Ultra Instinct power. In response, Goku transforms into a Super Saiyan and charges directly at Hearts, but once again, he is quickly subdued by the Gravity Burst technique. At that moment, Shin teleports in and helps Goku, Trunks, and Vegeta escape the battle.

The group arrives in Universe 7, where Piccolo and Android 17 join their efforts to confront the Core Area Warriors. Goku, determined to defeat Hearts, transforms into a Super Saiyan and heads straight for him, but is once again blasted to the ground by Hearts' Gravity Burst. After Hearts powers up further, Goku picks himself up, ready for another round. The battle rages on, and Goku powers up into his Super Saiyan Blue form. Now on equal footing with Hearts, he engages in a fierce battle but is still pushed back by Hearts’ relentless attacks. The two acknowledge that neither is fully utilizing their power.

The fight resumes with Goku turning the tide and overwhelming Hearts with a powerful Kamehameha. However, Hearts quickly recovers, taunting Goku before using his Gravity powers to restrain him. When Hearts uses his Gravity Fist technique, Goku finds himself at a disadvantage, and the battle intensifies. Hearts absorbs energy cubes and charges at Goku with enough force to send him crashing to the ground, causing him to lose his Super Saiyan Blue form.

Meanwhile, Kamioren undergoes yet another transformation, this time merging with the energy of the Universe Seed. Goku intervenes, stopping one of Kamioren's devastating punches aimed at Vegeta, but is quickly overpowered and trapped. Struggling to break free, Goku instinctively taps into his Ultra Instinct Sign state once again, dodging Kamioren’s punches and energy blasts. Kamioren fires a Mouth Energy Wave at Goku, but Goku stops it in its tracks, sending it back at his opponent. As he brings Kamioren to his knees, another energy wave is fired, but this time, Kamioren catches Goku in its blast.

Emerging from the energy wave, Goku enters his mastered Ultra Instinct form, completely dominating the battle. With the rest of the Dragon Team launching an energy barrage at Kamioren, Goku fires a Kamehameha that causes the red bio-gem on Kamioren’s chest to crack. Goku then charges forward, landing a powerful blow to the gem, shattering Kamioren into pieces. Exhausted, Goku reverts to his normal state.

As Hearts merges with the Universe Seed, Fused Zamasu appears to defend him. Zamasu effortlessly takes down the entire Dragon Team, leaving them incapacitated. Goku, despite struggling to fight back, tries to regroup. However, he is unable to transform due to the exhaustion from using Ultra Instinct, leaving him at a significant disadvantage. Zamasu soon twists Goku's arm behind his back. At this critical moment, Jiren and Hit arrive to save Goku and the others, but they are pushed back by the powerful pulse from the newly completed Universe Seed.

Goku and his team brace for a final showdown with Hearts, who uses a series of green orbs to trap the group in a tight space. With a single blow, Hearts takes down Goku and the others, but Goku is the first to get back on his feet and transforms into Super Saiyan Blue. However, Hearts reveals that he can anticipate Goku’s movements and his heart, sending Goku flying backward once again. After enduring another onslaught, Goku suggests to Vegeta that they fuse, as he is unsure when his Ultra Instinct might return. While their allies buy them time, Goku and Vegeta successfully fuse into Gogeta.

Gogeta defeats Hearts, restoring peace to Earth. Curious, Jiren asks why Goku and Vegeta didn’t fuse during the Tournament of Power. Before Gogeta can respond, the fusion wears off, and Goku and Vegeta revert to their original forms. Vegeta answers Jiren’s question, explaining that he never wants to fuse with Goku. Goku laughs off the comment, telling Vegeta that next time, he’ll handle the enemy all by himself.

Universe Creation Saga
In the anime, Goku stumbles upon a strange bird named Tokitoki at Capsule Corporation. As he curiously examines the bird, it suddenly bites him on the nose after mockingly calling his face "stupid." Gohan, Piccolo, Krillin, and Android 17 join Goku to help investigate the bird's mysterious nature when Xeno Trunks and Xeno Pan unexpectedly appear from another dimension in search of Tokitoki. They reveal how important the bird is to the balance of the multiverse. Just as things seem to calm down, the twelve Gods of Destruction suddenly arrive and threaten the group. Surprised, Goku questions Beerus about the situation, only for Beerus to reveal that he had foreseen the appearance of Tokitoki in Universe 7. According to his prophecy, the bird's presence would lead to the destruction of all universes. The Gods of Destruction, ready to destroy everyone, are halted by Beerus, who takes responsibility for managing his own universe. Goku and Vegeta then ascend into the skies to face Beerus, transforming into Super Saiyan Blue to prepare for battle.

Goku immediately charges at Beerus, unleashing a series of powerful attacks, but Beerus effortlessly dodges and counters, knocking Goku away with ease. Before the fight can escalate any further, Xeno Goku and Xeno Vegeta arrive and point out the roots of the Universe Tree, which begins to absorb energy. This revelation prompts the appearance of Fu, who explains his plan to use the Universe Tree to create a new universe, but at the cost of erasing the existence of other lifeforms and planets. Beerus, sensing the danger, unleashes his own power to temporarily halt the tree's energy absorption, but he cannot maintain this effort for long. Realizing the gravity of the situation, Goku, Vegeta, and Xeno Trunks set off to locate Fu and prevent his disastrous plan.

The group is soon joined by Xeno Pan and Tokitoki, who are able to track Fu to a location. However, before Fu makes his appearance, Turles and Bojack, two former foes who are now aligned with Fu, arrive, seeking revenge for their past defeats. The two immediately turn hostile, and Turles transforms into an Evil Saiyan, using his new powers to challenge Goku. Goku responds by transforming into Super Saiyan Blue to match Turles's new form, but as they clash, Fu appears and strikes from behind, catching both Goku and Vegeta off guard with energy blasts. Turles and Bojack continue their relentless attack, preventing Goku and Vegeta from escaping. The battle continues until Fu commands Dogidogi, a creature under his control, to freeze the heroes in place, allowing Fu to capture Tokitoki and escape through a space-time distortion.

The group soon finds themselves trapped in a time distortion, where they encounter Xeno Goku and Xeno Vegeta once again. However, this time they are confronted by a much more dangerous threat—an empowered Janemba, who appears to be working with Fu. Mistaking Janemba for another of Fu's allies, Goku and Vegeta transform into Super Saiyan Blue to battle him, but Janemba proves to be a formidable opponent. His ability to analyze the fighting styles of alternate counterparts makes him nearly impossible to land a blow on. Despite their combined efforts, Goku and Xeno Goku struggle to defeat Janemba, but finally, they land a punch together, briefly gaining the upper hand before Salsa and Putine intervene.

Caught once more in a battle with Janemba, Goku, Vegeta, Xeno Trunks, and Xeno Pan pool their Saiyan power into Xeno Goku and Xeno Vegeta, granting them the strength to enter the Super Full Power Saiyan 4 Limit Breaker form. In this enhanced state, the two Saiyans manage to defeat Janemba, overpowering him and ending the battle. However, the victory is short-lived as the group is suddenly teleported to the location of the Universe Tree thanks to Putine's magic.

When they arrive at the Universe Tree, Fu appears, followed by Towa, who teleports everyone away, leaving only Vegeta, Goku, and Fu behind at the Time Rift. Vegeta attempts to confront Fu, but he is quickly overpowered when Fu uses Cumber's energy to turn him Berserk. Goku transforms into Super Saiyan Blue in an effort to help his friend, but Fu takes control of him as well, turning both Goku and Vegeta into uncontrollable rage-fueled warriors. The two Saiyans attack Fu recklessly, but he easily defends himself before purifying their Evil Auras, returning them to their senses. With the Universe Tree threatening to destroy their universe, Goku realizes that they have little time left. Reaching into his pocket, he retrieves a Potara earring that he had obtained from Salsa and tosses it to Vegeta, initiating their fusion into Vegito.

New Space-Time War Saga
After Fu successfully creates a new universe, Goku regains consciousness in a completely unfamiliar, eerie version of West City on Earth. Disoriented and confused, he wonders what exactly is happening and why everything feels so different. As he attempts to make sense of the situation, he is unexpectedly ambushed by the Frieza Force, which includes none other than Frieza and Meta-Cooler. Goku, determined to escape this strange new reality, forms an unlikely alliance with Hearts, a powerful figure also trapped in this universe. In order to stand a chance against the Golden Brothers, Goku taps into Ultra Instinct Sign, an incredible form that pushes him to his limits. With his newfound power, Goku easily overwhelms Frieza, knocking him back and forcing him into retreat. However, just as the battle seems to be winding down, something shocking happens—the Golden Brothers are unexpectedly merged with the power of a Dark Dragon Ball, which grants them a significant boost in strength. This new power allows them to quickly turn the tide of the battle, and they begin to pressure both Goku and Hearts.

Just when it appears that victory is slipping from their grasp, the scene takes a dramatic turn with the sudden arrival of Broly. The mighty Saiyan effortlessly dispatches Frieza, Meta-Cooler, and the Golden Brothers with astonishing ease, leaving them in a heap of defeat. However, Broly's battle doesn't end there as he sets off in pursuit of the mysterious Warrior in Black, while the Crimson-Masked Saiyan exits the scene. Exhausted and bruised, Goku collapses onto the ground, unable to continue the fight. Hearts, seeing Goku's condition, tosses him a Senzu Bean, helping him recover his strength. Grateful for the boost, Goku thanks Hearts as he brings out the Four-Star Dragon Ball. Hearts suggests that if the Senzu Bean still has its healing properties in this strange space-time, then the Dragon Balls should be just as effective. They come to a decision: they must collect all the Dragon Balls and use them to find a way out of this alternate universe. With that in mind, they head to Capsule Corporation, where Goku retrieves the Dragon Radar and begins scanning for Dragon Balls.

As the radar hums to life, Goku detects two signals: one belonging to Hearts, and the other coming from somewhere high above them. Without hesitation, Goku and Hearts teleport to Planet Vegeta, where they are immediately confronted by the Crimson-Masked Saiyan. The figure boldly announces that he is Goku's opponent and transforms into Super Saiyan Rosé. Goku, after recognizing the transformation, realizes that this is Goku Black, somehow revived through unknown means. Goku Black arrogantly proclaims that he will prove himself superior to his original counterpart and defeat Goku once and for all. In response, Goku transforms into Super Saiyan Blue, and the two begin their fierce battle. Hearts also steps into the fray, transforming into Super Hearts, but despite their combined efforts, they are no match for the overwhelming power of Goku Black. Goku Black easily defeats both of them, holding Hearts by the neck and tossing him aside like a ragdoll.

However, just when it seems like all hope is lost, Goku makes an unexpected return. He reappears behind Goku Black in his Ultra Instinct Sign state, catching his opponent off guard. The Crimson-Masked Saiyan, surprised by this sudden change in momentum, tries to blast Goku with an energy beam at point-blank range. But the attack does no damage to Goku, who easily avoids every single one of Goku Black's subsequent strikes. Goku seems to have gained the upper hand in this exchange. Taking to the skies, Goku Black launches several powerful energy blasts in an attempt to destroy Planet Vegeta. Goku tries to escape using Instant Transmission, but his ability to sense ki is blocked, preventing him from teleporting away. Just as the planet nears its destruction, Cell appears unexpectedly and teleports everyone to safety at the last moment. Goku, astonished, asks Cell how he managed to return. Cell merely responds cryptically, saying that it’s no different from how Hearts was able to return. Vegeta, still skeptical, asks why Cell decided to save them, and Cell urges the group to be patient, implying that there is more to his actions than meets the eye. At that moment, two mysterious figures appear behind them, and Goku and Vegeta are left stunned as they realize their identities.

Goku and the rest of the group, now joined by Gohan’s team, take refuge in a nearby cavern. Not long after, Shroom, Salsa, and Putine appear, explaining that Cell is now aiding them in taking down the Crimson-Masked Saiyan. With such a powerful enemy looming over them and Goku still struggling to master Ultra Instinct, Shroom and the other demons open a door to a special room resembling the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. Inside this room, Goku and Vegeta must face illusions of past enemies, testing their limits in order to prepare for the final battle. They undergo intense training, emerging from the room stronger and more determined than ever. The two Saiyans then head to West City to confront the newly powered-up Super Saiyan Rosé 3 Crimson-Masked Saiyan.

Together, Goku and Vegeta manage to overpower their foe, landing a decisive blow that sends Goku Black crashing into a nearby building. However, their victory is short-lived, as Goku's Ultra Instinct state begins to fade. The Crimson-Masked Saiyan, now in his Full Power Super Saiyan Rosé form, quickly retaliates, and Goku and Vegeta find themselves unable to match his overwhelming strength. With no other options, they decide to fuse once again, creating the powerful warrior Gogeta. Together, Gogeta faces off against the formidable opponent and ultimately defeats him, but the fusion is brief, and they defuse soon after. The Warrior in Black reappears, now holding the complete set of Dragon Balls. With their power, he uses them to send everyone back to their original dimension, escaping the confines of the Pseudo Universe.

Goku suddenly finds himself back in the Crack of Time, where a younger version of Fu appears, now having absorbed Dogidogi. When Vegeta arrives, the two fuse into Gogeta once again and fight alongside Xeno Gogeta. However, the two Gogetas are quickly overpowered, and the fusion is undone. Fu, realizing the threat that fusion poses, casts the Vegetas into a dark vortex to prevent them from merging again. Just as things seem dire, Goku and Xeno Goku are aided by Chronoa, who appears just in time. She heals their injuries and instructs them to combine their powers. The two Saiyans merge their ki and unleash a combined Kamehameha, breaking through Fu’s defenses. Despite the overwhelming power of the attack, Fu manages to block it, but Xeno Goku acknowledges that even with such a mighty assault, they are still no match for Fu's full strength.

Fu begins to absorb energy from the Universe Tree, growing exponentially stronger. He draws power not only from the Tree but from the very fabric of the universe itself. When Fu attempts to attack Chronoa, Goku grabs one of his tendrils and rips it from his body. The energy released by the tendril initially overwhelms Goku, but he quickly masters it, using the power of the Universe Tree to gain a new transformation—Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan (Universe Tree Power). With this newfound strength, Goku engages Fu in an epic battle, culminating in a dramatic beam struggle. In the end, Goku manages to finish Fu off with a final Kamehameha, overcoming the Dark King. Fu, in disbelief that the universe holds such untapped potential, mutters his last words, smiling as he is defeated.

After Fu's defeat, Goku is sent back to his original universe, with Tokitoki using his powers to restore Universe 7 to its rightful state.

Supreme Kai of Time Saga
Meanwhile, back on Earth, Goku is taking a well-earned nap after a long day of farm work. As he drifts in and out of sleep, he is approached by a mysterious figure who introduces himself as a Guide. This figure informs Goku that he has been selected to participate in the "Super Space-Time Tournament," an event designed to bring together the strongest warriors from across every space-time. Naturally, Goku, ever eager for a new challenge, is immediately thrilled at the idea of the tournament and accepts the invitation without hesitation. The Mysterious Guide then teleports Goku away to the tournament's location.

Upon arrival, Goku is reunited with several familiar faces: his son Gohan, his longtime friend Piccolo, his rival Vegeta, and other formidable warriors including Hit, Jiren, and even Yamcha. The excitement builds as everyone gathers together in anticipation of the battles to come. Soon after, the Mysterious Guide reappears to explain the rules of the tournament, which are quickly understood by all the participants. Once the rules are set, everyone is teleported to the battlefield, where the tournament is set to take place.

As Goku enters the arena, he soon encounters his alternate counterpart from another timeline, Xeno Goku. The two warriors greet each other with a shared enthusiasm for the prospect of fighting one another once again. However, Xeno Goku hints at having an additional goal in mind beyond simply fighting, mentioning a connection with Aeos, the host of the tournament. Before he can elaborate on his intentions, the two Gokus are unexpectedly ambushed by another team of competitors.

The battle is fierce, but both Gokus work together, quickly overcoming their assailants. Afterward, their attention returns to one another, as the idea of facing off once more is too exciting to resist. Goku transforms into Super Saiyan Blue, while Xeno Goku shifts into Super Saiyan 4. The two begin their intense rematch, each eager to test their abilities against the other. However, their fight is soon interrupted when members of their respective teams discover Time Fairies, magical beings that signal their progression to the next round. The two are teleported back to the main hall, ending their battle prematurely but leaving them excited for what’s to come.

For the second round of the tournament, Goku is sent to a stylized version of Planet Vegeta, where he teams up with Jiren. They face off against an opponent they recognize all too well—the Super Saiyan 3 Warrior in Black. This new foe, who radiates dark energy, transforms into Ultra Instinct Sign, mirroring Goku’s own transformation. Goku, sensing the unique nature of his opponent, asks for the chance to fight him alone, believing that, as a fellow Saiyan, this battle will be different. Before the fight can escalate, the Warrior in Black reveals that he knows Goku’s true Saiyan name, but refuses to clarify how he is aware of this knowledge.

The battle between Goku and the Warrior in Black is intense, with Goku managing to hold his own despite the immense power of his opponent. After a fierce beam struggle, Goku is ultimately able to overpower him and emerge victorious, sending the Warrior in Black reeling.

After his victory, Goku makes his way to the Time Nest, where he finds Chronoa, the Supreme Kai of Time, seemingly defeated by Aeos, who has unleashed her full power in the battle. Goku looks at Aeos, thanking her for hosting the tournament but asking that she refrain from erasing any timelines, as there are still living beings within them. Aeos, however, dismisses his plea and attempts to use her powers to freeze him in place. In response, Goku swiftly teleports behind her, transforming into his Ultra Instinct Sign form to gain the upper hand.

The two engage in a brutal battle, with Aeos using her incredible powers to try and subdue Goku. However, Goku, ever resourceful, uses Instant Transmission to appear in front of her at close range and unleashes a devastating Kamehameha. The blast strikes Aeos at point-blank range, but she remains unfazed, acknowledging the true danger that Goku represents. With determination in her eyes, Aeos vows to eliminate him, setting the stage for an even more intense confrontation.

Explosive; Ki users through powering up can form an entire aura around themself, radiating their immense power[26], where depending on their immense strength, can cause them to explode their aura outwards to remove excess ki from themself[27]. Mood Reflection; Goku and Piccolo Jr. with their auras and their stern concentration on each other reflected in their electric auras, even shooting electricity at each other[28]), Emotional Empowerment (It's noted that ki users can receive energy through one cheering them on[29]. Ki users can be greatly increased by their emotions and beliefs, Son Goku explains that Son Gohan needs to remember the time he fought Cell and bring out all of the power he has, this way he can lose to no one[30] where it's shown during the Cell beam clash that he was holding back greatly out of fear of destroying the earth but from being cheered on and using all of his power within him, he was able to overpower Cell[31]), Attack Reflection (All Ki users are able to reflect attacks just by being stronger than their opponent[32]. Examples include, Nappa deflecting a masenko from Son Gohan[33], Son Gohan being able to bounce back the spirit bomb[34], Son Goku deflecting a crusher ball from Jeice[35], Frieza deflecting a Final Burst Cannon from Vegeta[36], Son Goku reflecting multiple death beams back to back from Frieza[37], and Future Trunks being able to completely repel an energy blast with his hand from a Frieza Soldier just by being much stronger than them[38]), Homing Attack (Ki users can create attacks that will home in and chase a target forever[39]), Penetration Damage (Bladed Penetration; Ki users can conjure up a circle of chi that is sharp and can cut through enemies far more powerful then themselves[40][41], along with this they can conjure ki as a means to stab through an opponent[42]), Weapon Creation (Ki users can create energy weapons out of their attacks[43]), Power Absorption & Energy Transferal (Ki users can transfer their ki to others and absorb the ki given to them from others[44]), Attack Nullification (Ki Energy Based; Those with ki can nullify attacks of lesser ki with their ki alone[45][46]. They can also catch and nullify ki attacks around their level through focusing enough[47]), Power Nullification (Ki Energy Based; Through having greater ki, one can nullify the powers done through ki attacks, such as Frieza being able to nullify a hakai ball[48], which fully destroys a target[49], though he is unable to resist a hakai ball from Toppo due to him being stronger[50], this ability however only works on ki, attacks unrelated, characters cannot resist through being stronger, such as how Vegeta, Krillin, & Son Gohan are unable to resist Guldo's psychic powers[51], along with even the likes of Son Goku[52]), Forcefield Creation (Ki users such as Cell can generate forcefields around themselves[53]. These forcefields can be expanded[54], and used to protect others and defend against attacks far higher then the user[55]), Super Armor (Through releasing one's ki, they enter a state known as "Hyper Mode"[56], in this state they do not flinch from weak melee attacks[57]), Self-Destruction (Ki users in Dragon Ball are able to[58] release all of the energy within them[59] to cause a massive[60] self-destruction of energy that normally kills the user and turns them into dust[61] though one can control it to surviving but having no stamina or energy left[62]), Binding (Energy Binding; Ki Users can use their ki to bind targets to objects, making them unable to escape even if they're of equal power[63], however, those stronger than the ki user can easily break out of it[64]), Dreaming Existence (Characters in Shin Budokai have shown to create physical bodies in alternate timelines through dreaming[65]), Non-Standard Interaction (Intangible Interaction; Those with ki can block intangible attacks when they focus and notices them[66]. Space-Time Interaction (3+1-D); Characters can blast space-time distortions to close them[67]), Healing (Healing Singular Targets, Advanced Healing; Ki can be used to heal beings, allowing them to survive even with half their torso[68], it can also heal from near death[69]), Resurrection (Resurrection of the Deceased (Limited); Ki users can resurrect ones heart from death if their ki beams hit their heart, restarting it[70]. Resurrection from Exhaustion; Can heal downed allies to give them ki back, reviving them[71]), Intimidation & Spirit Manipulation (Ki is the manifestation of one’s lifeforce[72], along with the aura giving one the feeling of being crushed[73], exerting fear[74] into the target, sometimes making them incapable of moving as their[75] body is instinctively stuck due to the sheer difference in power[76]), Link Manipulation & Mind Manipulation (Characters can link their ki together and train within each other’s mind enacting in image training[77]), Vibration Manipulation (Seismic Vibration Manipulation; Ki users can transfer their ki into an object and cause it to vibrate and shake greatly[78]. Powerful ki users can cause the very ground itself to shake when they power up[79]), Electricity Manipulation (Unknown Voltage; Powerful Ki users can generate electricity around their aura that can outright electrocute their opponents[80], Goku and Piccolo Jr. showcased being able to utilize their aura as pure electricity during their clash[81]), Weather Manipulation (Powerful Ki users can generate entire storms through merely powering up alone, Nappa used this in order to conjure the electricity from the storm[82]. Goku showcases this when he first turns super saiyan, causing a massive lightning storm in the background[83]), Energy Manipulation (Ki is the latent power in one's body, this latent power allows them to form and create energy from controlling their ki, which can be used to shoot out energy blast[84]), Explosion Manipulation (Ki attacks can create massive explosions[85], or control the ki to set off a huge explosion under the enemy[86], or in front of them[87]), Heat Manipulation (At least 100 C; Ki user's ki attacks produce heat allowing them to cook and grill animals and raw meat[88][89], along with leaving behind steam after the attacks hit an area, showing its latent heat. Ki users electricity aura can burn objects that touch it[90]), Light Manipulation (Ki can be used as a flash of light[91][92][93][94][95][96][97][98][99], Degisu seeing ki attacks be fired notes that the characters are "firing light from their hands"[100]), Limited Resurrection (Ki users can resurrect ones heart from death if their ki beams hit their heart, restarting it[101]).
Limited Resistance to Durability Negation (Ki users can focus their energy to localize an object to a specific spot to stop them from attempting to destroy their organs/insides[102]), Resistance to Poison Manipulation (Can resist poisons through Forcefield Creation[103])

Equipment

  • Flying Nimbus: Flying Nimbus is a magical, yellow cloud that serves as a way of transportation. Goku obtains the Nimbus from Master Roshi as compensation for saving Turtle. It served Goku and his sons well throughout Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z, by acting as a way for them to fly around at high speeds without using up any energy.
  • Senzu Beans: Senzu Beans are mystical beans with immense rejuvenation properties, being capable of healing entire wounds, such as one's stomach being punctured.
  • Zeno Button: Zeno's Button is a teleportation device that would summon Zeno or Future Zeno to the location the user is at. On the other side there is another button where the user will be transported to Zeno. When Goku came to see Zeno, he invited him to come to Earth sometime, so Zeno gave him a button where Zeno would appear. Later in the Future timeline Goku thought he had another Senzu Bean only for it to turn out that it was Zeno's button. Goku used it to summon Future Zeno in order to erase Infinite Zamasu. Sometime later, Goku thought about reminding Zeno of the upcoming tournament. Beerus, however, was skeptical, even when Goku revealed the alternate button of teleporting himself to Zeno. Threatening to kill Goku, Goku tricked Beerus and teleported himself to Zeno.

Notable Techniques

  • Rock, Scissors 'N' Paper: A technique taught to Goku by Grandpa Gohan which employs one of three attack styles; either a closed-fist assault, a two-finger jabbing assault, or an open-palm thrust assault. It was Goku's signature attack early on during his childhood, showcasing his playful and energetic fighting style. Though this move had its charm and effectiveness in early fights, it was eventually overshadowed by the more powerful Kamehameha after Goku learned the technique from Master Roshi.
  • Double Axe Hand: A powerful physical technique in which Goku cups his hands together and rears them back before delivering a devastating double-fisted strike. This move is known for its sheer impact, capable of inflicting significant damage to the opponent. Goku uses this attack during his earlier battles, demonstrating both his raw power and his developing combat skills.
  • Eight-Arm Fist: A highly advanced technique that involves Goku moving his arms with such speed and coordination that it appears as if he possesses eight arms instead of just two. This creates a rapid barrage of attacks and defensive maneuvers, allowing Goku to overwhelm his opponents with an almost impossible-to-counter combination of blows. Goku used this technique to counter Tien Shinhan’s Four Witches Technique, showcasing his adaptability and speed in battle.
  • Crazy Fist: A strategic distraction technique used by Goku, designed to confuse and disorient his opponent. Goku mimics the erratic movements of a wild animal, such as a monkey or a dog, tricking his opponent into thinking he is out of control. When the opponent becomes complacent, Goku catches them off guard and delivers a swift kick, typically catching them from behind. This move, used during his battle with Jackie Chun’s Drunken Fist, demonstrates Goku’s tactical intelligence and ability to turn the tables on more experienced fighters.
  • Tornado!: A dynamic and fast-paced move where Goku spins while rushing toward his opponent, delivering a spinning attack. The spinning motion increases the force of his strike, allowing him to catch enemies off guard with its speed and unpredictable nature. Goku used this technique in his battle against Nam, emphasizing both his agility and his ability to surprise opponents with quick, unorthodox attacks.
  • Afterimage Technique: One of Goku’s most iconic abilities, this technique creates perfect afterimages that mimic his presence in multiple locations simultaneously. The afterimages are so realistic that it becomes incredibly difficult for opponents to track Goku’s actual position, giving him the advantage in speed and confusion. This technique is a key part of Goku’s arsenal, making him a formidable opponent even against more powerful adversaries.
  • Mid-Air Stop: A technique used by Goku during a fall, in which he exhales forcefully to release a burst of energy that halts his descent. This allows him to regain control of his position in midair, making him more mobile in combat. Goku uses this technique during the 22nd World Martial Arts Tournament, demonstrating his quick thinking and resourcefulness when caught in a disadvantageous situation.
  • Tail Helicopter: In one of the more unique techniques in Goku’s early fighting repertoire, he swings his tail in a circular motion at high speed to generate enough lift to hover and fly. This technique was used sparingly and only once during his fight against Jackie Chun in the 21st World Martial Arts Tournament, highlighting Goku’s Saiyan biology and his ability to adapt various features for combat.
  • Agile Style: After his intense training under Kami, Goku removes the weighted portions of his Turtle School uniform, thus increasing his speed, agility, and power. This form allows him to move more fluidly in combat, boosting his performance dramatically. The removal of the weights also serves as a visual marker of his growth, as he becomes quicker and more powerful. The change in his agility was noted during his confrontation with Raditz, where his power level rose from 334 to 416 after shedding the weights, marking a significant improvement.
  • Dragonthrow: A powerful grappling technique where Goku grabs an opponent's body part—be it an arm, leg, tail, or antenna—spins them around with immense strength, and then throws them away with great force. This technique allows Goku to neutralize opponents with a combination of leverage and raw power, making it an effective tool for dealing with larger or stronger opponents.
  • Meteor Combination: A devastating combo attack that begins with Goku charging at his opponent and delivering a forceful elbow strike to send them flying. He follows up with a rapid barrage of punches and kicks, each strike designed to break the opponent’s defense. The combination ends with a powerful Super Kamehameha blast, dealing immense damage and potentially finishing off the opponent with a blast of concentrated energy.
  • Meteor Smash: This technique begins with Goku delivering a crushing punch to the opponent's stomach, followed by a powerful right hook kick that sends them flying. Goku then pursues the opponent in the air, finishing with an axe kick to the side of their head. The combination of strikes overwhelms the opponent with both speed and power, ensuring maximum damage.
  • Bōjutsu: The martial art of wielding a staff, which Goku learned from his adoptive Grandpa Gohan. With the Power Pole as his primary weapon, Goku’s Bōjutsu skills are unparalleled, allowing him to fend off enemies and even deflect projectiles, such as bullets. The mystical properties of the Power Pole also extend its reach, giving Goku a longer range than most other staff users. This technique highlights Goku’s versatility in using weapons alongside his physical prowess.
  • Kaoi-ken Finish: A highly advanced version of the Kaio-ken, where Goku executes a series of rapid, devastating blows. The sequence begins with Goku kicking the opponent into the air, followed by a double axe-handle punch that drives them into the ground. He then powers up to Kaio-ken and charges back at his opponent, delivering a final double-punch to their back. The sequence culminates in a throw that slams the opponent into the ground, delivering massive damage.
  • Kaio-Ken Attack: A high-speed offensive technique in which Goku powers up to Kaio-ken x3, drastically increasing his speed and strength. He delivers a rapid succession of kicks and punches, each strike designed to overwhelm his opponent with sheer force. The attack is a demonstration of Goku’s mastery over the Kaio-ken, using it to land devastating blows and keep his opponent off balance.
  • Dash Power: Surrounded by a radiant aura of godly ki, Goku dashes forward and strikes with a straight arm punch, displaying his incredible speed and power. The energy around him amplifies his physical abilities, making the attack not only fast but also capable of inflicting extreme damage. This technique is part of Goku's arsenal when he is empowered by god-level transformations like Super Saiyan God or Super Saiyan Blue.
  • Godly Ki Mastery: Through his training and experiences, Goku has mastered the ability to harness Godly Ki, a special form of ki that greatly amplifies his strength. By channeling this energy, Goku gains access to powerful transformations like Super Saiyan God and Super Saiyan Blue, each of which drastically increases his combat abilities. Godly Ki not only enhances his physical strength but also grants him greater control over his ki-based attacks.
  • Regeneration: As a Super Saiyan God, Goku gains the ability to regenerate from injuries by utilizing his Godly Ki. This power allows him to heal wounds that would normally take much longer to recover from, enhancing his endurance in long battles. The regenerative properties of his Godly Ki make him a more formidable opponent, as he can continue to fight at full strength even after taking significant damage.
  • Energy Nullification: During his battle with Beerus, Goku learns how to nullify the destructive energy of their clash. This technique prevents the negative effects of their godly energy from harming Goku, allowing him to maintain his composure and fight without suffering the typical consequences of such powerful energy exchanges. It’s a testament to his growing understanding of god-level powers.
  • Ki Blast: A fundamental energy technique where Goku gathers a small amount of ki and launches it as a blast towards his opponent. While simple in its execution, the Ki Blast serves as a versatile attack for both offensive and defensive purposes, allowing Goku to keep enemies at a distance or force them to react.
  • Kiai: A technique in which Goku uses his ki to create shockwaves of air that can strike opponents at mid-range. The Kiai is an extension of his ability to manipulate energy, allowing him to apply pressure to enemies even without physical contact. This technique is often used to disrupt the flow of battle or force the opponent to retreat momentarily.
  • Kamehameha: Goku’s signature move, the Kamehameha is a devastating energy wave unleashed from his cupped hands. Goku first learned this technique from Master Roshi, and over time, he has refined and enhanced it to deal with increasingly powerful foes. The Kamehameha can be charged to increase its power, and Goku often uses it as his go-to technique for both offensive and defensive purposes.
  • Spirit Bomb: One of Goku’s most powerful and iconic attacks, the Spirit Bomb allows him to gather energy from all living things around him, channeling it into a massive sphere of concentrated energy.

Other

Standard Tactics: Goku is a trained and gifted martial artists who has always kept the same tactics when entering battle. Goku will size up his opponent to see where their strengths and weaknesses lay, see how strong they are, and dish out various martial arts attacks and techniques to overwhelm his opponent. Goku will never immediately go all out from the start unless he fully needs to and will usually start with warm ups.

Weaknesses

Note

  • Some clips used on the profile come from an anime or movie due to the fact that some abilities from ki use shouldn't function much differently from how they can in canon, along with this sometimes the anime version/video game version of a scene will be used for cleaner visuals. Toriyama himself directly overlooks scenes in the anime and movies and gives Toei the thumbs up[159].
  • The speed scaling for PLs are taken with a grain of salt as there are noticeable times where someone's speed isn't equal to their power, such as Burter being faster then Recoome and Jeice, along with Super Saiyan Grade 3 Trunks having his power greatly increased but his speed decreased.
  • This is not Xeno Goku, the timepatroller. This is a Goku that went through the events of several movies and Dragon Ball Super (Up to Tournament of Power).
